Stay away from Dr. Leti Chow. I brought my Maine Coon in for a respiratory infection 03/2012. This is NOT our regular vet as I live in Calgary but I was visiting my mom and brought him along. All she wanted to focus on was his weight!!!!! She kept calling him obese. I had to keep pointing out he was a MAINE COON and that my regular vet has NEVER been concerned by his weight. He weighs 22 lbs and is far from fat! Anyway after she finally got past his size she told me Gus had herpes! I followed up with my regular vet the next week and was told Gus was NOT OBESE and DID NOT HAVE HERPES. All medication Dr Chow gave us was discarded and new meds prescribed.

This has been the primary vet clinic for my pets. This weekend I had to rush my 15 year old dog to emergency. It's hard going through something like that.... i was very emotional. This was our first time meeting Dr. Dana Madsen and she was fantastic. They had to sedate my baby girl and keep her for observation. Dr. Madsen contacted me throughout the day to keep me updated. I was able to bring my baby home on the weekend and first thing Monday, Dr. Madsen call me to see how my girl was doing. The love and care she has for animals and humans really shines through.

Amazing vet clinic. Staff are fantastic, rates are reasonable (for a vet clinic). The vets are knowledgeable and don't try to sell you services you don't really need. They are open nights and weekends which is great for my busy work schedule. When my cat was sick and had to be put down, they didn't charge for the assessment and let us stay past closing to be with him until we were ready to let him go. They also gave us a Christmas ornament with his name on it to remember him by. I wouldn't trust my pets to any other vet clinic.

Took our pet in for treatment with very obvious symptoms, they run this place like a car dealership, everything is over priced to the point of profiteering. Antibiotics were charged at $133,00, when I could have got them at G&E Pharmacy for $69.00, and remember good profit is already being made at $69.00. Unnecessary tests and follow ups used to run the bill up even higher. This industry needs to have their fees regulated, so consumers don't get burned. We definitely will not be returning.

After being disrespected by the vet after I was told one dog had a huge tumor and could not afford the $7000.00 operation, I vowed to never to return. As of today my other dog needed only a blood pressure done. Was told by the owner that (even he had a full exam on Wed,) he (my dog) would need another full exam at full cost (today May 17) plus extra for the blood pressure check. This clinic is only in it for the money.

Dr. Boddington was the vet for my cat from the time we moved to Edmonton until his passing. She interacted greatly with him, spending as much time talking to him as to me! The receptionist's we're always friendly and courteous. I like that they have a seating area for cat owners separate from dogs, helping to reduce stress in the animals. During a few unscheduled short notice visits I interacted with other veterinarians with satisfactory results.

Well I left with more questions then I went in with. Maybe I didn't dress or even appeared correctly in there eyes. I feel they were.more worried about money then answering any questions. I feel I was treated like I was dirty the doctor was short with me made me feel inadequate. They mentioned money more then they would answer any questions. I am definitely not going back or will have to wear a suit next time I go in. I wait for a phone call couldn't even arrange a appropriate te for them to call me just sorry I spent the cash there.

Have been taking our pets here for years. Have nothing bad at all to say about our vet Dr.Howard but the support staff is pretty hit and miss. Today my dog got bit at daycare and had a bloody wound. Called hermitage and they told me to bring her in. Once they looked at her I was told they couldn't help her due to being understaffed and that I need to take her elsewhere. Why not just say that on the phone call and not have people waste their time and cause the pet that much more discomfort? I love Dr Howard but we are most likely gonna be done with this place

***UPDATE*** I'm changing my review from 5 STARS to 3 STARS. Because when you enter the front door you're greeted with this lovely HUGE WINDOW PICTURE of a Kid and dog. My dog goes from calm to all nervous, growling and will try to retreat back out the entrance. Because she's still afraid of kids. I understand that the company paid them to place their ad there. But I feel until they decide to remove it I will leave it at a 3 Star rating. I moved here last year and my Significant Other has been bringing her pets to Hermitage for the last 6 years. Naturally after we got our new puppy in January we brought her to Hermitage. We went for a no fee puppy visit intro with our Vet Dr. Miller. Included a consultation, nail clipping and discussion about health care for our new puppy. Couple of weeks after we went back to get her second set of shots (first ones was given by the breeder). Everything was fine, price was within range of other vets (I had shopped around just to make sure). We scheduled our next vet visit before we left for her 3rd set of shots. 2 days prior to our 3rd vet visit we had a vet emergency. She had ingested something foreign that made her very lethargic, dopey and out of it. We walked into the vet office with her. They right away took her right to the back and had her get checked by a vet. She stayed there for a couple of hours, while they ran some test to diagnose the issue, gave her some charcoal. We took her home that night monitored her and the next day she was fine. The vet called us in the morning to see how she was doing and if we had any questions or concerns about her. We came back and got our 3rd set of shots 2 days after our emergency drop in visit. We were not charged for another visit just for the vaccination which was fantastic, cause they had just seen her 2 days prior. We scheduled our next vet visit for her to be spayed before we left. We dropped her off in the morning to get spayed. She went in for surgery. Picked her up in the afternoon. Went through some Q&A's, gave us some pain meds for her. They called us the next day in the afternoon to see how she was doing and asked if we had any questions. Having had prior experience with other vet clinics. I've found the staff awesome, well informed and caring. Dr. Miller takes the time to examine our pet. Doesn't rush through anything and takes the time to answer any questions or concerns we had. She gave us pros and cons about anything we asked. Helping us make a decision that we felt was best.

I had came home from work to find my puppy no pun, sicker then a dog, so I called this place to see if I could bring her in, the gal on the other end should have been taking orders at Burger King.,..rude to say the least then I was told I would have to make appointment and it would be two weeks before I could bring her in.WTF I guess you have to make plans as to when your pet is to get sick..terrible service

Lovely open space, cat-only and dog-only spaces in the waiting room. Was looking at some cat toys while waiting, they were inexpensive and good quality. The employees were all friendly and funny, and the vet was incredible. Walked in at appointment time, got our kitten vaccines + dewormer, and got out in about 20 minutes. Very impressive. Edit: We took an older cat in for another appointment. They were absolutely fantastic with her despite her being a cranky old bat, and diagnosed her. They made us feel good about our options and seemed to genuinely care about the well-being of our animals.

I take my two dogs and five cats once a year (or more if there's illness) to this clinic, and they take the time to say hi to my pets, give them a kiss, and interact with them. The staff are kind and compassionate towards clients and their pets and are always very friendly. I'm so glad to have an awesome vet clinic in Edmonton, close to where I live.

Would like to know why they charge $100 for a wellness check when the doctor didn't do anything but look in one ear, take a 2 second glance at my dogs teeth, and 2 second listen on her stethoscope. Atmosphere of "woke culture" is concerning.

I have been going to Hermitage for the better part of 20 years. The staff genuinely seems to care about the animals in their care and always does their best to explain the options to us. Yes there is some pressure to have teeth cleaned and recommended shots but we do not feel pressured to agree and when we decline they do not offer resistance.

Switched to this vet years ago due to its location and where we live. At first I was impressed with the service, seemed quick and easy to get in with fair prices. Recently the service has gotten so bad we will be finding a new vet for our pets. Our dog lives with a life long condition and receives monthly injections. Today he had a flare up and I needed the injection quickly to reduce his discomfort/suffering. My first call today ended up with message being passed onto the vet to call me back, I waited over an hour. I then had to phone the vet back for them to tell me to take him to the emergency vet clinic. This is not an emergency and would be easily handled with the injection he has gotten for well over a year now. Very unhappy with "passing the buck" attitude we experienced.

I just moved to Edmonton and one of my dogs had fallen very ill for 3 days. They took us in right away. They were very understanding of our situation and sadly we had to put our dog down. The staff and Dr Romanufa were very kind and compassionate. 2 Days later I had to bring our other dog in as he was showing signs of illness (similar symptoms of the first dog). Luckily, his seemed to be more stress related . Again, the staff were very understanding, knowing that I had just been in there 2 days earlier and didn't make me feel like I was over reacting to my dogs aliments. Dr. Boddington took good care and time with my him. I never felt pressured into paying for unnecessary testing or up selling of any products, etc. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone.

The staff was very friendly and caring. I unfortunately had to put my beloved kitty down recently and the doctor and staff were very kind and accommodating. They let me and my family take all the time we needed to say goodbye to our dear furbaby. My only issue was how much it all cost. The bill was huge and there was no offer to make payments so that added to the obvious stress of losing our loved one. Besides the obvious stressful situation we were in that day, I have always been impressed with the treatment my pets and my family have been offered.

Had an appointment at 6:30 pm and due to an increment weather i got home late from work and got in the clinic at 6:45pm. Upon entering the clinic, one staff doesn't look happy. She told the other staff that our appointment's cancelled since we're late. So, the other lady looked at me and said that we need to reschedule our appointment. I asked why are they cancelling our appointment, she didn't say anything. I asked if there's no doctor anymore then she just simply said that we need to reschedule it. When I said that our appointment got cancelled because we are late, the lady apologized. On our previous visits, we're always on time or earlier but didn't complain on those days that we were assisted late. Just felt bad with the other staff who acted unprofesional, atleast try to be polite. I would appreciate it if she just talk to me straight and explain to me rather than telling the other person to talk to me, knowing that I am just infront of her.

I went to the Hermitage Veterinary Hospital a few months ago because my elderly cat (my heart & soul) had to be euthanized. I was handled by the veterinarian Dr Leti Chow - she was professional & she was also kind & extremely gentle with my cat. she showed me genuine compassion far beyond what her job required. all of the nursing staff Were empathetic to a degree that i remain very impressed with. on my absolutely hardest day, the hermitage veterinary hospital made it as smooth and not-traumatic as it could possibly have been.

This covid pandemic is frustrating. Pet owners have to sit in their car while pet is taken to see vet. If I am trusting my pet to someone they should at least look me in the eye so I decern who this person is so that I feel comfortable handing them my pup.

I wish I could give this vet clinic 0 stars! My dog had 2 lacerations on one of her front pads. I called and they said to bring her in as a walk-in. Once arriving we were put in a room FOR AN HOUR. An hour where my dogs injury was bleeding thru the bandage. Just as my husband was going to get somebody a tech walked in. She looked at my dogs paw and took some pics to show the vet. We didn't even get to see a veterinarian. She then rebandaged the paw and left to show the pics. When she returned she told me that we would have to go to an emergency vet as they didn't have the staff and they were closing soon. I complained to the technician of their poor service and she told me she was aware and the staff member who stuck us in the room had been spoken to. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this vet.

The restaurant buffet staff were awesome with our big group. It was unfortunate that there was a one lobster per person limit, but there was plenty of dessert to choose from. The casino is too smokey. The hotel allowed us to convene in the lobby for our hiking event and they even allowed dogs on leash to accompany their owners while we waited to depart.

I have been taking my dog here since I brought him home from the breeder. I love how he has an online profile, they really care about your pet. I had my Rottie neutered and microchipped a couple weeks ago and it was a great experience. My boy is back to his normal self and I am very happy. The best part was when I was notified that my boy growled at them and that they suggested he should get some training. I never really thought his low growl was a problem but since they pointed it out, I can see that he needs a little more training. Their team are compassionate, helpful and full of knowledge. They have a very clean establishment and are very professional. For example, before they brought my dog out to me, staff checked to see if there were any other dogs in the waiting room. Smart!

The best veterinary clinic I have been to with my 2 dogs. The hours are perfect. The ladies at the reception are always welcoming and friendly. The whole process is so quick and efficient. The nurse checks you in, weighs the pup and asks the appropriate questions. The doctor comes in immediately. She is very knowledgeable. My husband and I have been long standing customers of this clinic and I am appalled by the lack of service and compassion. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. The interaction we have had with them is below (I have removed the office manger's name): Response from Clinic: Good afternoon Kurtis, My name is BLANK- I am the office manager whom you spoke with in regards to our mask policy Aug 12, 2021. I am currently away on holiday with little to no cell phone reception, so unfortunately I am unable to call you directly right now. I have spoken with our legal team and have been informed that we are not under any obligation to share our internal policies, which includes our mask policy. As mentioned above I am currently away on vacation with little to no cell service but would be happy to speak with you when I return on Aug 30th,2021. At this time we feel it is best for you to seek veterinary care elsewhere that might better fit you and your pets needs. You will find 2 attachments below. The first is a legal letter stating that the Hermitage Veterinary Hospital will no longer accept you as a client. The second attachment is your medical records for Dixie. I am saddened at this clinic's lack of customer service and care. Not only have we dealt with short notice appointment cancellations on your clinics' part. I have personally experienced Dr. Boddington's unprofessionalism and flippant attitude. Our now deceased dog, Kamazaki, was seen at your clinic in January 2020 and then suddenly and traumatically died of a heart attack 4 months later. At the January 2020 appointment he was given a clear record of health, and no advice on caring for a dog who was entering his senior years. And just so we are clear, Dr. Boddington came to my vehicle unmasked on May 25, 2021. This was prior to the Alberta Government lifting mandatory masking. It seems you have a very confusing internal policy and my husband was asking for clarification - which you were unable to provide at the time of the August appointment and now refusing to provide after the fact. In your letter you mention clear and open communication, we have not received that from you. You also mention lack of trust on our part, it is obvious that after Kamzaki died we are hesitant to fully trust this clinic. I would like my entire client file, including our deceased dog's medical records (Kamakazi Sehn). We will gladly take our business and referrals to another, more client focused, Veterinary clinic. Dr. Leti Chow is professional and friendly, I would recommend her as good vet, but not the clinic itself including staff. The assistance of Dr. Chow makes you feel condescending and not welcoming at all. This pet assistance commented regarding the treat (organic sea food for kittens, which bought from Petsmart store)I was giving to my kitten. I only give treats when we go to see a vet for reward of good behaviour and also gives calming effects as well, since my kitten is hyperactive/hyper energetic. The assistance of Dr. Chow commented saying "I would not give too much treats to your kitten , otherwise he will get fat". My kitten slim and long bengal, it's not only based on diet cats/kittens get "fat" , also influences how they are active, how they stay hydrated, etc. I give treats once a week or depends on the day things we do to my kitten.. I'm myself RN and trust me I have good understanding when comes to general health of my kitten and his diet as well. My kitten Bengal is 4.5 month old and weighs only 2.78 kg(thats pretty healthy kitten). I brought him in December/21 for wellness check(which was fine since that was ever his first appointment with Dr.. ), and he got his booster vaccine. The first shot was given by breeder (found out later, it was not given). Then in January/22 he had his next booster vaccine for FRCP and he got rabies vaccine as well($30 each for vaccine). But before my second appointment I called them and asked the receptionist the charges will be, and the lady said "only for vaccine", I asked specifically about "wellness check" since he had already in December, and she said "No charge for exam, only for vaccines". Ofcourse, guess what?! They charged me for "Wellness exam", which cost was $99, I understand for annual exam you do once a year, but mine was only one month apart, even though I'm aware it is new year-2022, still, one month apart. When I brought up to the reception lady and she said "We/Dr. want to make sure your pet is healthy", kidding me he is indoor kitten plus one month only passed. Just be cautious out there that not all vet clinic is honest and reliable. I'm not going back to Hermitage clinic anymore because there is no trust left.

Worst place to take an animal if you enjoy being double billed.......this is the second time they had asked to do blood work on my cat only to refer me to a vet emergency clinic where the procedure is required again at an additional cost... so what's the point of putting my cat through all this discomfort if you know the other clinic needs to run the same test..."MONEY" that's why....so what should have cost $200 to $300 ended up costing twice that....very underhanded .....won't be going back here.

This is the best Vet in the city my dog had a mass on her rear end and we were so afraid it was cancer... the vets did all of the the testing required and removed the mass completely and our dog is now happier than she has been in a long time!! I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Purcell and his staff. Anytime I have taken my dog in they have shown us nothing but care and compassion! After he was neutered they made a follow-up call later in the evening to see how he was doing and ask if I had anymore questions. Dr. Purcell has guided us through the long process of finding a food that works for our guy. Testing out different foods and alternative supplements to see what will work for him. Anytime we have called with questions or concerns we have received prompt feedback. I have recommended Hermitage Veterinary Hospital to many people and will continue to do so!

I don't have any experience with the vets at this location as I take my pets to a different vet, but this location is most convenient for me to pick up my dog's veterinary diet food. They almost always have it in stock and are great about checking for me if I call ahead. Their price for it is right in line with every other clinic I've purchased it from. They have a wide selection of foods and products available in their lobby, and the staff are usually very friendly and welcoming. I'm glad they're nearby so I can make sure my dog always gets the food she needs!

We had to put down our beautiful fur baby. I made the appointment 2 weeks before so we could spend as much time as possible with her while not being cruel to the fact she was in pain. The day of the Euthanasia, my husband got a call from the vet asking “How is your dog, have you chosen what steps to take next?” In which my husband replied her euthanasia appointment is in 2 hours at your office.. so there was clearly a lack of communication between the staff at the vet. That was disappointing. But we shrugged it off. During the appointment the ladies were great. The vet was empathetic and explained everything. Heartbreak and lots of tears followed. We were given a pet loss package which I was too broken to read. I was able to spend as much time saying goodbye as I needed. I was informed I would receive my dogs paw print in ink complimentary. This was something to look forward to. We left and started our grieving process. Today I received a sympathy card from the vets office. It was thoughtful and nice to see, however it was empty. I thought maybe the prints come separately. I called just in case. When I phoned I was told they didn’t have any prints on file for her and it apparently wasn’t done. Although she said they usually do it for all the pets. My heart is broken once again. My original 4 star review has dropped drastically. It hurt more receiving an empty sympathy card than it would’ve not receiving one at all. Please don’t tell clients they will be receiving complimentary ink paw prints from their beloved fur babies if you don’t intend on following through. I feel like once we left, our babygirl was probably pushed off to the side and forgotten about. This was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do and today’s empty card caused so so much more pain.

I have been taking my dog here for 5 yrs and took my dog that passed here for 13 yrs. the staff is always nice to deal with and very friendly. i do find the actual vets do not take the time to talk to you and actually provide a full physical exam. i am always rushed out within 15 minutes. i have taken my dog to a new vet and received a great experience with information provided to me about my dog that was not given to me here, important information that was missed in the "yearly physical exams". the doctors are not thorough or helpful when it comes to answering questions and concerns, they just send you off with medicine.

Really like all of the vets that I have seen over the years. The reception staff can be awful. I have heard them gossip about patients behind the patient's back, they have been sarcastic and snippy with clients and don't seem to be able to handle busy times with any degree of confidence. They were unable to book a follow up appointment for my dog within the time frames the vet prescribed and didn't seem concerned that my dog would miss the time frame that the vet set out.

Amazing Staff who clearly love their jobs. My new newfie mix puppy had ate a nylabone antler chew two weeks ago and after puking for a few days and small stool i brought him to our vet who gave us laxatives and sent us on our way. Pups attitude and eating habits hadn’t changed but he was still puking almost daily. Just when a few days had passed without puke he puked up three more bites of the chew. I live over a hr away from this vet but chose it specifically because i wanted a ultrasound to be 100% sure the chew was gone. I do alot of googling but when i asked the vet all my questions she was so nice and didn’t make me feel crazy for all the things I’ve read. She put my mind at ease about everything. Pup received ultrasound and i was sent home with piece of mind. He was the star of the day as everyone was bragging about his looks and temperament and giving him love. What used to be me pulling him into the vet now he walks happily through the door. I will be making the commute for this to be my regular vet as my current one traumatizes him. Oh also they file the claim with trupanion health care for you. Which is a huge convince.

Left my pet without meds for 2 days because they forgot to call when I gave ample notice. Receptionist was very unhelpful when I was trying to book an appointment for my dog who needed to be seen right away and she giggled that the wait times are so long, told me to go somewhere else. Then when I tried to get a hold of them their hours are not posted properly and they were closed with no notice, also said they opened at 8am but the phones are shut off until 10am. Not acceptable when you give ample notice for your dogs seizure medication and they forget to call...my poor dog was having symptoms of not having it for 2 days and when we tell the Receptionist she says "oh no, have a nice day" wonderful, so caring.

We chose Hermitage because it had good reviews on Reddit. Our puppy (german shepherd mix) is "difficult" patient in that he gets very anxious and even aggressive during vet visits. I would not recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone with high anxiety cats. They are not a welcoming environment at this clinic. My cat is high anxiety/high stress, has always come out of there with some sort of other problem then he had. He needs to go for his needles right now, i need to be in the room with him & i am unable to wear a mask for medical reasons, i have a note explaining it from my doctor. This clinic has refused me service and said i must do curbside if i’m unable to wear a mask. Because of my past experiences with this clinic, i wouldn’t trust them at all to do curbside for my high anxiety cat, who knows what their going to do for his stress problems. The clinic should not be allowed to discriminate against people with medical conditions unable to wear a mask. They should be able to accommodate me outside of hours even, to help and keep my cat healthy, but they are unwilling to work with me at all, very unprofessional. I’ve placed a complaint with 3-1-1 also, hopefully they are able to educate this clinic alittle better for future experiences.

My Mom took her dog here when he was having digestive issues and I accompanied her to help her to describ his symptoms and history. The treating vet we had was Dr. Maan who was polite and professional to us in the room. Sadly, I overheard him and 2 of his female support staff bad-mouthing our dog in the back area. It was very audible and rude. The dog had been quite sick and was irritable and his bum was a little dirty from recent sickness. We just wanted them to diagnose him and treat him as needed and were apologetic for his fur being a bit dirty and his bad attitude. We muzzled him as precaution Could've done without hearing the rude comments in the back room. Made me wonder how well he was being treated back there. To me you have to love animal to work in this industry even when they are sick and grumpy. We will not be returning.

I don't understand how an animal runs into a vehicle and I bring it to the vet and because it is not my animal, I don't know the owner and I refuse to sign agreeing to pay the bill this veterinary clinic turns the animal away without even a look but a low income family with cats that are so ill they should be euthanized and the cost of the cats care is causing the owners to not eat properly because it is either care of the cats or food they choose the cats health and the clinic just keeps taking the money. Sorry, I love animals but there is a time when an animal needs to be euthanized and any decent clinic would recommend it but I guess it's all about money.

I had my puppy go here since she was a baby 13 years ago. Before your fur baby gets sick, do some research on google as what it is you want to do, as bloodwork or any lumps you want tested are costly and then you need surgery. It was hard taking my fur baby in when she got really sick, she lost an eye years back and she had a lump on her stomach. I was in tears trying to figure out what to do with the cash I had. I put her to sleep because the Vet said she must be in pain and it was in her best interest, also I could see my baby was responding at all. Hardest moment in my life but the respect and patience of the Hermitage Vet is priceless. Molly my puppy had the best vets around and she is in a better place now. I cannot replace my fur baby life is hard but I have 3 fur baby cats and I am more grateful then ever to take better care this time around. I made some poor decisions and I reccomend people do the research early on and get the help they need before it's to late.

I called Delton Vet. Clinic, dealt with them 20 yes. ago and wow, still impressed, my cat got proper care it/I wanted. I give up on Hermitage Vet. Clinic, wasn't first bad experience with them.

I have nothing but good things to say about the Hospital. The staff are uniformly polite, helpful, and very considerate during delicate situations. I was there last summer when my kitty had reached the end of her life and they helped make a tragic situation much easier. This has been my Vet for over 20 years! Amazing staff and doctors. They are so kind and caring. I trust their advice. because they are a hospital, they can do many procedures on site. They have been considerate of my pricing limitations, nonjudgemental and offered alternatives where possible. I've had to say goodbye to my elderly pets here previously, and the staff make a hard time easier by giving us all the time we needed. thanks for everything!
