I have taken our cats to Edgemont Vet Clinic for over 20 years. We had no problems with the change in ownership that happened a few years ago that some reviewers have complained about. We were seeing Dr Olynyk and are now seeing Dr Kerr. She is patient, thoughful, caring and truly interested in how our cats are faring. Appointments are usually on time but occassionally they are a bit delayed. To me this is a good sign because it means that time is taken to treat animals that need more that the allotted appointment time. The reception staff is courteous and professional. Phone calls are answered promptly, there is a good supply of prescription diets and other supplies on hand, the reception area is clean and bright and there are lots of treats for the cats and dogs that are waiting. Parking can be a bit of a problem but there is nothing the clinic can do about that so shouldn't be a reflection on the practice. I have recommended Edgemont Vet Clinic to family and friends and any who have gone have had happy experiences.

We’ve been going to the Edgemont Vet clinic for almost 14 years and during that time Dr. Kerr has been our main vet but we have seen various other vets at the clinic for emergencies and everyone we have ever dealt with has been great with our dog. All of the staff from the people answering our calls to the doctors are all very friendly and caring. The phones are always answered promptly and courteously. Our dog has had a number of issues over the years and we have always felt that he has received excellent care without feeling pushed to do unnecessary tests. In any of our emergencies each of the vets at the clinic have always taken the approach to try to do the easiest things first and eliminate issues before resorting to extensive testing and we’ve always been fortunate that the extensive testing hasn’t had to occur. I also really appreciate that the vets at the clinic have always phoned a couple of days later to check and see how our dog is doing, and they always are available to answer any concerns or further questions. I highly recommend this vet clinic, my lab is going to turn 14 years old next week and it wouldn’t have happened without the great care that he’s received from Dr. Kerr and her team at the Edgemont Vet Clinic.

I have been taking my dogs to Edgemont Veterinary Clinic for the past 12 years. Dr. Kerr and her staff are always amazing! Recently, my dog Bella was in for a dental cleaning and tooth extraction. I was once again blown away by the care and compassion that was shown to both myself and my beloved dog. The staff at EVC took time to go over the procedure, risks, potential complications and treatment plan. They made sure i was well informed and had no questions or concerns before i left my pet in their care. I appreciate their transparency and was 100% comfortable leaving Bella for treatment. Once the procedure was over I received a follow up call letting me know everything had gone well and Bella was recovering. During recovery Bella got some cuddles and loads of attention until it was time for me to bring her home. My dogs love going to visit Dr. Kerr and her gang. Edgemont Veterinary Clinic is a wonderful place. They truly care about animals and want what's best for both the pet and their family. I am so thankful for the years I have trusted the health of my dogs to Dr. Kerr. I can't imagine taking them anywhere else!

I made a call in regard of my cat showing signs of being sick and wanting to ask symptoms of sickness. I wanted to bring him in to be checked and the lady refused to allow that, because my name isn’t on the file. So then open a new file! The lady on the phone said that I could claim to be anybody and know the owner of the cat. She was also very condescending and rude. If that’s the case, why would I know the owners information? My sister is living in another province right now and I cannot even ask about my cat?! My sister is the owner, but he is also my cat! I am taking care of him. I only can't ask information about him and my sister, because my name isn't on the stupid file. The lady with the accent just irritated me to the max, telling me to take my cat to the emergency room. Telling me that she can send an emergency form to my sister, than to me. I'll definitely be telling my sister to switch Veterinary Clinics. P.S. I called my Vet Clinic where I take my own kitten (I have my own cat, under my name, but I am also the owner of my sister's cat. ) and they were able to provide information no problem. Shame on this place and the lady who answered my call.

We've been taking our 2 large dogs here for a few years now and are regularly impressed with the level of care, information, and patience we receive during our visits. Our larger male dog recently underwent surgery for a complicated and unique hematoma here. The level of research and information provided pre-surgery was impressive. When he went in for surgery, the team was informative and responsive. The discharge and after-care were also extremely thorough, allowing for my multitude of questions and clarifications. While Edgemont Vet isnt the cheapest in the city, I would say they are extremely well priced for the level of care and attention myself and my dogs have received (let alone that I dont pick my specialists by the lowest available price, nor do i kid myself about the cost of living in a large city like calgary). The vet is literally our dog's happy place, and we're happy to have found such great care at Edgemont Veterinary Clinic.

Although I've been taking my pets here for years, since Dr. Olynek left I honestly have been less than impressed. I took my dog there for a gash on his rib and we ended up waiting about an hour after the vet tech brought out two different CATS files thinking they were my dog's. They ended up quoting me $300 until another family member called and they finally reduced the price to $150. Trying to find another regular vet at the moment.

Well the last few days have been a huge eye opener for me. I just took my four and a half year old dog in for a dental check because one of his teeth was discoloured. I read that sometimes tarter presents in various ways but his breath didn’t smell very good so that was a couple of alarms for me. I checked for discomfort by pushing on the tooth and massaging his jaw but he showed no sign that it bothered him at all. As it turns out he had not one but two fractured teeth. This really is a reminder about how well animals hide their discomfort and how important it is to trust your instincts when it comes to your pet. No more Nylabones for this boy! We are new to the clinic and I can’t be more pleased with them. I took a timid dog in there a couple times for prep work and on dental day he walked in on his own. Thanks so very much to the team at Edgemont! ❤️????

My first visit to Edgemont was an emergency after my dog Melan had been hit by a van. As hard as that was, the professionalism and caring shown by the staff was very impressive. In the two years that has passed with my new dog Mira we have always been treated very well and had excellent service from both front desk staff and the veterinarians at Edgemont. On our latest visit to Edgemont, just last week, to update an international health certificate I was happy to receive excellent and very thorough care for Mira before we traveled to Latin America. I have been taking my 3 year old rottie, Kami, to the clinic for over 2 years now. She has had numerous issues, both small and big, and each issue was always appropariately awknowledged and addressed! Last October, we found out that Kami needed to get a TPLO surgery. I was extremely stressed out and nervous about the surgery and really didn't know what to expect. Thankfully, Dr.Kerr and the staff were right there with me to provide expert advice and support. They got me in touch with the best specialist in town and the surgery was a success. Dr.Kerr also recommended laser therapy for after the surgery and I could see the big difference it made in the healing. The best part is that even after the surgery, Kami loves going to the vet! I am so thankful to have a group of amazing people take care of my dog. It really makes a difference to have a clinic I can trust. Thank you Edgemont Vet for being so amazing!

I was fairly new to Calgary and finding a good vet was hard, I had tried two other vets in Calgary and just about given up all hope of finding a vet that truly cared and listened to me until I found Edgemont Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Kerr. I have a 12 year old Labrador Retriever, and she has a number of issues at this age in her life. I was really impressed with how much they listened and went over my dog's long health history with me to determine what was best for her. They gave me choices based on my budget and age of my dog, I was not made to feel like a bad dog owner because I decided against expensive treatments for my elderly dog, like I was at the other vet clinic. They were supportive and understanding. I have finally found a GOOD vet in Calgary!

Took my little cat into to see Dr. Kerr and was extremely impressed. As a new cat to the clinic, we received a welcome pack and some treats for our cat, it even includes an immmunization record! She walked through her diagnosis and what she will do and then brought our cat in, keeping in mind COVID and the restrictions, the entire process went so smoothly. She called and we talked on the phone about what the next steps are, and was able to get some much needed medication for a swollen bump on her lip. I left the clinic feeling more knowledgeable about my cat then I ever have. I am excited to go back with my second cat. Looking forward to the entire experience!

Dr. Kerr is an experienced, knowledgeable and compassionate veterinarian. In the past several months I had taken my dog, Karl, into the clinic a few times for consultation about a cancer diagnosis and subsequent health issues he was experiencing. Dr. Kerr discussed treatment options in detail with me. I appreciated her candid explanations and answers to my questions and never felt for a moment that any decision I might make would be judged an incorrect one. If I saw a veterinary technician on one occasion she was compassionate and assisted with providing the necessary medication for Karl. At no time did I feel I was being up-sold on services or products. As a matter of fact Dr. Kerr told me about a product I could get off the shelf at a drug store substantially less expensive than what I had paid for it at another veterinary clinic. And it was true. She continued to follow up with me about Karl. Her team was compassionate when it came time to humanely euthanize my pet. A veterinarian does care about giving you the best advice possible in handling the treatment and care of your pet. As with any service, if you don’t connect with that professional you find a veterinarian you do connect with. Dr. Kerr and her team are stand outs.

It is a passion and I am grateful for all their help and understanding. I remember once we took our kitten for a checkup and shots and we ended up laughing and talking with the staff for a good half hour after we had already paid. These people are not only super knowledgeable and talented but also very genuine. Dr. Wilkins is our vet, and she and her techs are super honest and informative. They make sure to tell you everything about what they are doing from vaccines to checks, and explain it to you should you not understand. They ensure that not only your pet is receiving the best care but also that you are comfortable and have no questions. I would strongly recommend this clinic to anyone who has any sort of pet.

I just took my cat to Edgemont Veterinary Clinic to get him fixed. I could not believe the amazing level of care that they gave to him. Starting with a private consultation room just like a doctor's office but even nicer, it was a great experience. They were so concerned with his comfort. I had no idea what differences there are in what a vet could offer, but they have the most up to date equipment, trained and experienced vets, and all of the staff was incredibly professional. I learned things about how to care for my cats and dog that I never knew, such as dental health, and I would highly recommend them to you. These are definitely the best vets in Calgary.

I adopted a 4-year-old dog from the Humane Society and brought her here for her post-adoption check-up. Starting with the front desk staff, and continuing through to Dr. Jeni who did her physical, everybody couldn't have been nicer or more caring about Sophie's well-being and happiness. Heck, they even seemed to care about me! Dr. Jeni answered my numerous questions and then we ran out of time. Later in the week, she called me back to ask if I had further questions, which I did and she answered. In addition, I forgot to ask about one physical thing with the dog and Dr. Jeni said "come in and we will look at it", which she did free of charge one day over her lunch. I couldn't be happier with the Edgemont Veterinary Clinic and would highly recommend them. I have found Soph's vet!

I have been taking my pets to this clinic for years now. The most recent was my elderly cat (about 15 years old). He was in alot of pain and had some trouble walking and we took him to Dr. Kerr for that last visit as it didn't look like we could do anything for him short of a lengthy hospital stay. Edgemont has been great both times my dog has been in! He got neutered last year and we just had his annual check up. Dr. Jordan and staff have been super friendly, helpful and professional. They are really approachable with questions and my dog was actually so excited to have their attention he didn't even notice his vaccine needles. We have been bringing our cat to Edgemont Veterinary Clinic for the past 3 years. Our experience in September 2017 left us very dissatisfied. We appreciate and respect the knowledge/expertise Dr Kerr has. However, in our opinion both her tone and approach came across as cold and lecturing during our visit. We had purchased 4 de-worming doses the previous year, which in hindsight was too many for our cat's infrequent outdoor time. There were other personal reasons we felt it would be best to wait to deworm him, we tried to share this with Dr Kerr. She interrupted us part way through our rationale and lectured us on "skipping doses". She also commented on how we were putting our "family at risk" by not adhering to her every 3-month regimen. I know Dr Kerr cares about her work and the animals, but she came across as very condescending and cold. She used phrases like, "Umm... let me educate you..." and "This is coming from one busy mom to another..." etc. These types of comments cause one to feel belittled, as if she were talking to her son rather than two adults. Overall, we were not impressed with the new clinic layout or location, the parking lot was hectic and busy with traffic driving through to the gas station directly attached to it. We also found the exam room cramped compared to other clinics we have been to in other cities we have lived. I was shocked at how expensive the exam was by itself - we did not receive any vaccinations or purchase anything as our cat was not due for any shots this year. I wish I had been informed over the telephone when I booked the appointment that our cat was up-to-date with his vaccinations and would receive only the annual exam - this was clearly labelled on our file. I would only have brought my cat in if I had any concerns regarding his health and save our young family $90+. Our cat is 5 years old and in Dr Kerr's words "the picture of health" minus the need for an increase in oral care on our part. I aim to brush his teeth daily instead of only 2-3 times a week. I appreciated Dr Kerr's assessment and honest feedback on his oral care. After our visit, I completed the survey that is automatically emailed out to all clients post-visit. I provided honest, detailed feedback with examples of our negative experience. I received an email response from Kerrie, the Practice Manager. She was kind and apologized in her reply, but stated halfway through the email, "Having reviewed your comments with care I believe that we would be unable to reach a level of service that would meet with your expectations. As a requested I have inactivated your file with us." We do not have unreasonable expectations. It is concerning to me that despite our feedback, Kerrie and the team fail to recognize that their approach ought to be more compassionate and kind. Rather than lecturing and reprimanding clients on their decisions, focus on communicating and listening first to try and understand the situation in its entirety, THEN kindly educate individuals and their family. Also, there needs to be transparency and honesty regarding vaccination schedules. If an animal will only be receiving an annual exam, the client should be informed prior to the visit and have the autonomy to decide if they will do an annual check-up, or come back the following year when vaccinations are due. Needless to say, this was our last time attending Edgemont Veterinary Clinic. It is our goal to find a veterinary team that strives to provide compassionate, trustworthy care and communicate respectfully with clients. After having spoken to a number of vets, surgeons and rehab specialists, she provided us with the most detailed explanations and offered clear options for his best care. Dr Nadeau and the clinic staff were fantastic in providing acupuncture and herbal therapies for our little furbaby. He was a feisty one but he was accepted with compassion and love. We needed somebody right away to help us get our baby girl Scarlett over the Rainbow Bridge. We called 6 vets that quoted us a lot of money or couldn't get us in until the next day. We called Edgemont Vet and they set us up immediately and then let us change our time to earlier because our girl was really struggling. We came through a side door and into a beautiful room all ready for her. We were able to pay in the room. We were given as much time as we needed to say goodbye. The vet was incredibly kind, caring and thoughtful towards her and us. I can't remember his name but he lived up to his job. It was my first time saying goodbye to a cat this way and he walked us through every step. All the ladies were kind and soft spoken and made us feel ok for being emotional. They drew little hearts on the door around our baby girls name and we got a card in the mail with condolences and her ink prints and a tuff of her hair. I am quite certain this will be my vet moving forward. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you all do.

I am so impressed with the care and service of this clinic. They're always so kind and attentive with my dog and explain everything in detail so I understand what's going on. I dropped my dog off to get neutered in the morning and they called me at work to give me an update on how he was feeling (not requested, but so appreciated!!) and they even sent me an adorable picture of him! It made me feel so much better. They even called the next day to check on how my pooch was healing. I LOVE THIS CLINIC. They really CARE. The receptionists, the techs and the vets! 9 years ago personnel of another animal hospital told us that our cat needed a serious surgery and after it she would be limited in walking. We took our cat to Edgemont Veterinary clinic for second opinion. It was a great fortune that we applied just to this particular clinic. Dr. Olynik did very careful assessment and explained us that the problem was absolutely different than what we were told in other hospital. No surgery required, our cat would recover soon and would have no walking limitations. That day came! Recently we took our cat to this clinic bleeding after fighting with another cat. Staff reacted instantly and organize immediate emergency assessment. Dr. Kerr was absolutely amazing, very patient, caring, knowledgeable and professional. She did very detailed inch-by-inch assessment of our cat and gave us antibiotic. She spent a lot of time with our cat and did not push us for buying products or doing any unnecessary treatments.

The vet pulled all of our dog Cotton ball’s teeth without asking for permission, and charged us a bill over $2000 - much higher than the range they had given us. When we talked to the reception the vet wouldn’t even talk to us. We used to come for Dr. Olynyk who was fantastic, the new staff and service is terrible.

Our Puppy Charlie was very timid when she was very young. The Staff at Edgemont Veterinary Clinic and Doctor Catherine Kerr were very patient and kind to Charlie. When Charlie got her ID Chip inserted, Charlie was given treats and massaged so she did not even feel the ID Chip go in, she didn't react at all. The Staff made us feel welcome as we brought Charlie in every few weeks just for social visits to desensitize her to the environment of the Vet Clinic to the point that Charlie was very willing to go in the back with any Staff member and just look around. This proved very helpful when it came time for Charlie to be spayed. Charlie recovered very quickly from her operation and was back to her normal self in a few days (I wish I recovered as fast from Hospital visits). Charlie still enjoys her visits and interactions with the Staff when she goes in to get weighed

I have been taking my dog to Edgemont Veterinary Clinic for about 5 years and receive exceptional service with each visit. My dog isn’t the friendliest but the staff seem to win her over every visit. Recently my dog required dental surgery and they treated us with patience, compassion and expertise. It had been recommended for a few years and I had been putting it off until I could see how her health and well being were being impacted by her dental hygiene. It was a really big deal and she required multiple extractions. I honestly feel it was the best thing I’ve ever done for my dog; in the week following her surgery she was the happiest I had seen her in years. She was puppy-like in her behaviour and I knew then it was worth it and I had done right by my dog to keep her healthy and extend her length and quality of life. Edgemont provided the best care I could ask for and I am proud to recommend them to anyone.

Edgemont Vet Clinic only cares about charging you as much as they can (especially Dr. Kerr). You know their fees are exorbitant when it costs hundreds of dollars more to have a procedure done at Edgemont Vet Clinic than it does at a Veterinary Specialists office. They will recommend treatment and procedures that are not necessary. Their fees are much higher than many veterinary clinics. Please find a vet that cares more about your pet than money. Putting an animal through an unnecessary procedure is most disturbing. If you love your pet do not take them to Edgemont Vet Clinic.

Ever since they moved locations it seems Dr. Cathy Kerr pushes for anything to get her more money. Not only that, but shes abrasive, rude and condescending, her and Carrie don’t seem to care for pets at all. I have never been treated with such disregard or bullied by a vet like I have her. We have been seeing doctors of the Edgemont Veterinary Clinic over a span of close to 20 years with several dogs. The new clinic is spacious and clean and desk staff are pleasant and efficient. All tech staff are interested and very professional. My 10 year old Yorkie and I had occasion to see Dr. Jordan mid-week with a followup, including chiropractic adjustment, the next day. Dr. Jordan did an excellent job of answering all my questions even with my request for details. I felt that he listened well to my responses to questions regarding Boo's symptoms and general health. We discussed options for treatment and chose a conservative approach. We were not rushed with either appointment and I left feeling welcome and encouraged to follow up with the clinic regarding either of my dogs' health. Thank you for this positive experience.
