We went to Deer Park Pet Hospital with our dog, having an emergency. As the owner, I was in major distress. Dr. Higgins radiates knowledge, kindness, experience and many other positive things, that immediately put me at ease. He explained the problems in great detail and ensured I understood, after conducting a thorough examination of my dog. He discussed treatment options (very advanced technology) and medication, etc. At no time did I fee pressure to pursue any specific path of treatment. The visit was not rushed at all even though we just showed up without appointment! I have never felt that comfortable at any clinic before, for people or animals! The environment is clean and comfortable. The cost was very reasonable. We pursued Laser treatment for our dog and he is, although an older dog, completely pain-free again after only 3 very affordable treatments! I STRONGLY recommend this Pet Hospital! If you animal suffers from pain related problems, I encourage you to visit the Deer Park Pet Hospital for a consultation. Dr. Higgins and staff, thank you so much for your kindness and knowledge in treating my dog!! I very much appreciate you!!

Had our cat spayed here. We take our dog here as well. The employees are always super friendly, and honestly, joyful even. They have helped us fix our dogs unexpected allergy problem that cropped up. He was in bad shape, however they were able to give him the medications, and other treatments to alleviate, and get rid of the problem. I would recommend this location for service, friendliness, and helpfulness.

Our cat had an absess, they got it treated fast and were very helpful with the information after for her home care. Care was affordable as well. HOWEVER do not let them trim your cats claws. They cut our cats claws back way to short and a few of them are crusted over with blood; they did this when she was sedated, so there is no excuse for cutting them so poorly. We never have issues with it at home and did not ask them to do it. This is not the first time they've done this to a cat of ours either.

I’ve had a puppy with chronic ear infections and allergies and I’ve gone to several vets local to me but they don’t accommodate me or give her treatments to help, just the same thing that I’ve told them doesn’t help. The vets and staff here are very accommodating and helpful, it’s always worth the hour drive to get my little girl taken care of! They give her exactly what helps her and listen when I tell them what doesn’t work, and have helped me figure out her allergies and give her prescriptions for preventing ear infections, whereas other vets just tell me to “come back if it happens again” and then can’t fit me in for weeks. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this vet if you have a pup that has allergies/chronic ear infections or any condition that other places seem to only charge you and not help you. Definitely the most reasonably priced vet as well.

I have to say putting our Dog down has been one of the hardest things our family has done it affected so many people. As most people will read this a pet is nothing less then a family member . Our family is so appreciative of Dr.Grant and the amazing help from all at Deer Park over the last 5 years with our puppy who had heart failure . Any and all questions ,concerns and options were available and the out come was all understood agreed and very tuff but the opportunity to be with the our little guy in his last mintues was a beautiful hard reminder of the compassionate and scarification we as humans make and share . The vets that work here are well educated and willing to work with you to figure out what is causing your pets problems and if they aren't sure they will research it or refer you to another vet that may be more helpful. I am in every couple of months if not more often for my sugar glider neuters and not once have we had any issues . The ladies up front are amazingly kind and courteous, Dr.Higgins knows his stuff with exotics and you can not beat the price anywhere in Alberta for the service you get with Deer Park Pet Hospital. I recommend them to EVERYONE. They really go out of thier way to make sure things work for you and your pets. I have been to a few other "recommended " clinics in Red Deer however there is not one better than Deer Park Pet Hospital.

My most recent experience with Deer Park Pet Hospital we didn't even end up seeing Dr. Higgins. But, I was treated so kindly by the reception staff, who allowed me to book an appointment for the next day, and monitor my dogs condition, and then cancel the appointment when she recovered on her own and didn't need to be seen. The front desk staff were cheerful, and compassionate, and understanding. The whole experience was SO much better than we receive from a human Dr's office! we are SO lucky to have Vet clinics like this! Thanks!

I took my cat in after he fell majorly ill! They said that they could not find anything wrong with him. A week later I took him to another vet who diagnosed him with a very large tumor the size of a baseball and had to be put to rest! He was in major pain! How could they miss this! I am pretty sure that he wasn't even taken out of his carrier! I also felt it was strange that they examined him without me in the room .They refused to refund the 300.00 that they charged us for doing nothing!I was beyond disgusted with the way this entire situation was handled and would never recommend them to anyone! My Max deserved better than this!

So far a great experience. I have an injured Skinny pig, and it's a challange to find a vet who specializes or even just treats Guinea pigs to start with. Dr. Grant seems knowledgeable and skillful, as well as humane and compassionate. As for the price: we had to come back for frequent check ups and treatments for our piggy, and the clinic was very decent about the price, giving us as many discounts as possible. Definitely sticking with this clinic for my other pets as well!

I am really thankful for this Pet Hospital. I have taken 4 of my pets here and they all have been treated with incredible care. Dr. Higgins is so wonderful and the prices are so reasonable, so you never have to decide between your finances and the best care for your animals. Dr. Grant and Dr. Wright have done a great job treating my two elderly rabbits for ear infections and head-tilt that could have otherwise been deadly. Dr. Grant in particular was very patient with me as I made numerous calls discussing alternative treatments and filled numerous prescriptions over the phone so that Leopold didn't have to make unnecessary and stressful trips into the city. Dr. Wright suggested laser therapy for my tilted bunny, which I am certain was the primary reason that his tilt was cured.

There is NO better, kinder, responsible, competent, empathetic, compassionate/caring, intelligent.... vet on the planet I'm sure... than Dr Pat Higgens and now our secondary vet Dr Grant. As you might be able to guess, I respect these men so much and trust them absolutely to care for my 6 (now 4 furballs). I lost 2 this year from old age but Dr Pat and Dr Grant as well as the staff were excellent in helping us through old age issue with them both. Both doctors have done surgeries on 4 of them, plus their teeth and I couldn't have asked for a better job/care. They have NEVER over charged me or have I ever felt he's there just to make money, in fact many times he's made alternative (less expensive) suggestions, or helped us come up with other ideas. Dr Grant was beyond kind and helpful walking us through caring for a homeless stray who had a surprise litter of sick kittens that took us months to nurse to health. He donated much of his time and phone calls until they were ALL healthy, spayed and adopted. They ALL, EVEN MOMMA CAT, HAVE WONDERFUL FOREVER HOMES!! His staff is also EXCELLENT, when he is on holiday I've never felt nervous for anyone else to see them and I am always a wreck. They are awesome with everything from Chinchilla's to Chihuahuas! ABSOLUTELY THE BEST.

You're probably looking at reviews to find a good vet in Red Deer. You can stop searching right now! Deer Park is by far THE BEST vet in Red Deer! I absolutely love the staff at this clinic. I researched every vet in Red Deer before choosing Deer Park and I'm so glad I did! Our little puppy was rescued from a dump and I had so many questions and concerns about him. Deer Park was able to see him the day after we got him. Our first and third vaccine visits were with Kelly. Kelly was amazing and answered all my questions. Kelly made me feel like I was taking all the right steps with Django. At the end of the visit, she encouraged me to call the clinic anytime if I had a question or concern. Our second vaccine visit was with Carson. Carson was really good with Django. Django wasn't very excited about a male being in the room but Carson took his time and let Django warm up to him. Carson provided helpful tips to help Django build confidence around men. Django now feels the need to say hi to Carson every time he's in eyesight. I have never felt rushed at this clinic and I have never felt uncomfortable here. The assistants at the desk are always welcoming and are very helpful. All the staff at the clinic are supportive and caring. There has been a couple times where Django had to be taken into the back to have something done (ex nail clipping, microchip) without me there and he always comes out tail wagging. I have the utmost confidence in the care provided at Deer Park. I won't go to another vet. Thank you Deer Park Pet Hospital!!

Dr Higgins and Dr Grant are simply wonderful and caring Drs and animal lovers. The care is though and compassionate. The prices at Deer Park Pet Clinic are some of the best if you did shop around. We didn't, we switched to this clinic when our Choc Lab who crossed to Rainbow bridge in 2017 was ill with Cushions disease. We ended up here because of reputation that preceded them. The experience the 2 DRS had was amazing. The knew how to exam a pet and diagnose from that exam, then using diagnostic tests only to confirm their findings. They have state of the art equipment, and the staff is friendly and well trained. This is a very busy clinic, which says something about the care they give there. My entire life I have had animals, both large livestock and pets, this is the best care I have come across for my fur babies. We have used Deer Park Clinic to follow our pets for over a decade. I can not say enough good things about how both we, and our pets have been treated. From when they first answer the phone, you are treated with efficiency, care and compassion by all the staff! I wish our "human health care" was as good as this! We have used Deer Park Pet Hospital for 8 years and can't say enough about the service and the quality of care that they've provided to our two beagles, aged 11 and 14. Our 14 year old goes in for regular laser treatment and there is noticeable improvement. Our two girls mainly see Dr. Higgins and Dr. Wright, but we trust all the vets at Deer Park Pet Hospital. Theybhelped take care of me and my baby girl Sheba. She is getting better all thanks to their special care. They even have a foundation called the Fozzy Fund where people can donate and it goes towarss those who can't afford a vet bill or medicine for their babies. It really helped me the first time and its WELL worth a donation to the place.

Our family has three dogs of various ages and there seems to be a concern of one kind or another with one of them on a regular basis. We were told of Deer Park Pet Hospital a number of years ago and, being new to the area, decided to give this facility a try. We felt that we made the right choice immediately. Over the years, we have found the reception staff to be kind, understanding and full of compassion. They try to accommodate our needs as best as possible, even on short notice, and always do so in a caring manner. Our experiences and interactions with Dr. Higgins have been over the top. Our time with him has been informative, insightful and we seem to learn something new every time we are in the office. With the depth of experience that Dr. Higgins possesses, he projects an air of true concern for his patients and a gentle manner with them which relaxes the dogs as soon as he’s in the examination room…it relaxes the owners as well! Our pets have had joint problems, dental problems, eye problems, allergies and a host of other conditions requiring veterinary care. We have never left the hospital uncertain as to whether our dogs were on the road to recovery or not. We have always felt that Dr. Higgins provides us with the information we need, and our dogs with the care they need at a more than reasonable price. We do believe our dogs are being treated by one of the best in the business. Took my cat to be euthanized by Dr. Dixon. She couldn't find a vein so had tech come in and try 2 other legs and blew the veins. My cat was very distressed at this point, I told Dr. Dixon I didn't want her to go out kicking and screaming so she then gave her a tranquilizer and took her to the back. My cat came back with the original leg with the catheter in, after going through that whole ordeal and the time it took I felt so awful for my little girl. So disappointed as I had better service from my regular doctor there. He wasn't available so I had to go with Dr. Dixon. It was a very distressing situation for me and my cat and took way to long. I talked to the manager the next day as I was still upset on how it was handled. Didn't get much of a response, didn't even offer a refund for that disaster. So now all I have is the memory of that horrible ordeal and putting her through that. Something that should take 20 minutes took 45 minutes. Sickening.

Great service! Dr. Higgins suggested laser therapy to treat my 13 yr old dachshund who developed back problems that resulted in limited mobility. I was fearing that my options were bleak given my dogs age and predisposition for back injuries. However, after discussing with Dr. Higgins I agreed to try laser therapy treatments. I was so impressed that I could see improvements immediately in my dogs mobility and his overall demeanour following one session. I haven’t seen my dog as alert and happy like he was after seeing Dr.Higgins. I can’t wait to see results after multiple treatments. Would recommend to everyone with a pet.

I took my dog in a few days ago because his eye was swollen. The vet dismissed it and told me it was nothing to worry about, and gave him the vaccinations that were due. I ended up having to bring him to emergency later that night because the vaccinations exacerbated the actual problem: masticatory muscle myositis. I’m disappointed that no one noticed my dog was unable to open his mouth after receiving the vaccinations. It caused a delay in him receiving the medication he desperately needed.

Our 1 year old dog had a broken hip and needed surgery, we have been going to this vet for 15 years and always trusted our animals were in the best hands. However, our latest experience was incredible. Our poor dog had his surgery and it was later discovered he had not healed properly and needed a second surgery. This was done free of charge (even the meds were covered) and Dr.Higgins even brought our dog to his home for a few nights while he was healing. I was blown away by the amazing care this clinic offered. Would highly recommend!

I've been bringing my large lab-x (Stanley) here for a few years and I've always been happy with the care provided by all of the veterinarians and staff. They are all super kind, patient and diligent. Recently, we were referred to Dr Stock to have Stan in for massage and acupuncture. I'm blown away by the progress Dr Stock has made with Stan in just two appointments. His pain levels went down immediately and his mobility has increased significantly. He gets lots of love and attention during treatment and it's incredibly cost effective. If you have an older dog, I would highly recommend booking him in with Dr Stock for acupuncture and massage!

We have taken our cats here since we got them and they have always been great with them. The staff seem to genuinely care about our pets. We started taking our dog here as well. His old vet seemed more worried about adding up the bill then making sure he got the best treatment, but not these guys we have felt like the prescriptions and treatment are the best course for our dog and they seem great at understanding the personalities of the animals as well.

Very disappointed with my service this time. I have been taking my cats to this vet since I moved to Red Deer. I had a cat go missing and come back after two months! I took her in 2 times in 2 weeks for check ups and follow up...and both times I paid for a full exam (+ extras) but I’m sure it was not done!! If it was it was not done thoroughly. They missed a huge infection in both her ears!! The DR even said to me that her ears were good...so needless to say I have switched vets and will not look back.

I’ve used this veterinarian on multiple occasions. Service is always professional and friendly. I do feel they love pets and only want the best for them. I did struggle with the last time I took my cat in. He required dental surgery to remove most of his teeth (he has a disease that caused them to essentially disintegrate and most had to be removed). When I spoke with the vet tech, we discussed how much it might cost. She asked what my upper amount to pay would be. When I shared it, she immediately said that she couldn’t possibly conceive how it would cost that much. Of course, after the surgery, that is exactly what they charged me. I was upset, because I’m not a wealthy person, and felt that if I had said a lesser amount, that’s what they would have charged me. I shared my frustration and they did call me to discuss my concerns, but they stood by the $1200 dental bill for my five year old cat. I wouldn’t have felt tricked, if the vet tech hadn’t set my expectations differently. And I wasn’t going to argue because I was too emotional having watched him go through what he did. So a word of caution, when asked how much you would be willing to pay, say less than you will. I will reiterate that the employees love pets. You can tell that they want only the best for the critters that come through their door. They will do what they can for your pet.

We were overwhelmed with the amount of care and compassion everyone at the clinic gave to our dog. This is not our regular vet as we live in Sherwood Park. We came in for an emergency visit on Saturday and the staff went above and beyond to help our little guy. Our dog was required to stay the night hooked up to an IV, and the vet was kind enough to give us updates and to continually go back to the clinic after office hours to ensure our dog was taken care of. Thank you so much for making a very difficult time a little easier.

Dr. Higgins and staff were amazing to our Kona for her vulvoplasty surgery. They were upfront with what needed to be done and the pricing which was surprisingly very reasonable. They took amazing care of her, and were awesome to deal with even amongst all this covid chaos. Dr. Grant performed two crucial surgeries on my Dog(Kaydo). The first was in November and the second was just a couple days ago. The information, help and service that he provides is outstanding. He is great at what he does and I appreciate his help to improve Kaydo's life more then he will ever realize. I don't wish any animal to have to be in the pain that Kaydo was especially at such a young age (he will be 2 in March) but the fact that he was able to get into surgery quickly and we were able to resolve this in a timely manner is pretty great. I will never go back to this vet with another animal ever again. Took my less than 2 year old kitty there when he was sick and within a week my cat was euthanized.
