Don't apply here if you have a disability. The college is not set up or willing to help you in any way. They have a coaching department which doesn't help students with tutoring or note taking; although they advertise these services ,they don't guarantee them. The only thing they offer is extra time for exams, which students are stuck booking themselves. The also offer reduced course loads which means the student is accommodating themselves by taking fewer courses, paying full fees and staying in school longer because the school isn't helping them correctly in the first place. Please don't apply here if you have a disability, they want your money, but not you.

Hello Owner, I'm planning to take Post Graduate Diploma in Information Security and Systems. I want to know about practicals which help students in getting better job after course completion. How is the Co-op and placement cell? because in my country Practical is a joke and colleges focus more on theory than practical. So in DC same should not be the case I hope.

As an international student, everything was new for me but all the orientation and other events were really helpful to understand the new system. Also, the academic staff was very helpful and efficient throughout program.

I believe this college is not interested in domestic students anymore, I applied as a domestic student here and the first question from the admission officer was me to conform what kind of student I am , though other colleges accepted my transcripts this college haven’t had any updates on my application. Save all the seats for people who pays more and best of luck the business.

Money trap This school is terrible, and exspensive. Thank God I was only here at DC for one year. The meal plan was 5000$, and it was garbage. I had a way better experience at my old school, they had a better meal plan, cheaper meal plan, better housing, way better teachers, and all my classes were on campus. I was frustrated to find out that my classes at DC were 120 MIN BUS RIDE FROM RESIDENCE.....

If you work often with an non-flexible schedule, suffer from any sort of mental illness. Or just plain in simple struggle in school. Then this is not the school for you. Let me explain, first I struggle with Depression (diagnosed) which makes it quite hard to get up due to its crippling ability on me. However, I also work two jobs into order to not only pay for schooling but as well as pay for living, which is usually 85% of the reason why I am absent. When I was threatened by teachers that I was going to fail their course due to my absences, I contacted a student adviser in order to try to work something out as the teachers where not being flexible on the matter. However it was brought to my attention that not only do the teachers not care about the money, time and energy you put in but the adviser (at least mine) didn't either. Telling me that I should either just drop out, or try to get my two jobs to be more flexible. Second, as stated above it is obvious that most teachers are their only for the paycheck. That their lack of 'caring' is very recognizable. Now I am not saying that all don't care, no about 4 of my 12 actually care about you, the class and the education behind it. However, being brought up about personal emails in front of the entire class in order to belittle you is embarrassing and makes me angry. Telling you in a 'niceish' manner that 'that is to bad for you' is immature and lacking support. Taking 4 weeks and 6 emails to reply to a single one in a quick and rude manner, is obviously that you don't care about me, nor mine and others education. Third, in December of 2016 I received notice that I would be leaving the Country for a business trip in April, however they didn't come out with the dates until late January, the dates I had no control over. So as soon as I found out I contacted all of my teachers informing them of my absence, some replied, some didn't. Luckily it was the week before most of the exams were. One of my classes the teacher (one of the the 4) thankfully arranged for me to take my final after I returned informing me that it was 'against the schools wishes'. While another teacher, gladly let me fail the class informing me that it was 'an unacceptable excuse', replying only 2 weeks before my trip which was 4 emails and over 2 months later. I of course furious contacted the Dean, who simply told me to call and make an appointment. I called 4 times and never received a single call back . This school; unless you are lucky to have a flexible schedule, teachers that actually care and a easy flowing money, or even a 'likable' personality that teachers may favor over. It's a waste of time, money and energy. I wish I had gone with my first choice, and unless I receive an email about my current want to change my course, I will be taking my time, energy and money elsewhere.

The part time learning support for placement is a joke. There is zero help for getting a placement in the middle of a pandemic. The process is confusing and there is zero guidance. They refuse to have any exceptions in the middle of a pandemic. Other colleges like George Brown are offering a research paper in loo of placement. They won't let you be supervised under a registered social worker and create your own group. They won't let you do a placement at an agency supervised by a general manager due to staffing requirements of covid and available supervisors. They won't give any suggestions on where to look and any emails they don't answer questions and just link the placement page. I finally got a call today because the regular placement person is away and someone else is filling in. (student advisor). Please hire ms. Mcphate at an increased salary as she was personable and has to look up info for me but at least was pleasant and promised to get back to me. Updating as she got back to me and is trying to help me find solutions and ways of getting my placement completed. Completely different personality and response as compared to placement person. It is appreciated and should be recognized. As for the classes I have enjoyed all my classes and have learned valuable information that will help me in the field. The teachers have been fantastic. They all reply promptly and are knowledgeable. The information taught has been relevant and taught in a way that is current and logical.

Hello, I'm going into the 11th grade, I would like to find a college that is well diverse, and has all the studies that I like. I like to know if music departments such as band and orchestra are involved in that college, I'm coming from the United States but my parents came from Ethiopia. I would like to hear your reply, if you think I should go to this college.

I actually didn't mind my experience at Durham College. I managed to get through my course with only a few problems. One of which being that one of my profs was a bit tough to handle sometimes and a little fuzzy on the descriptions she gave. Other than that this campus - while very crowded - has a multitude of options for food, for studying, for having a great time altogether.

Worst service I have even seen in my life from their finance team. Applied for January intake, however due to some circumstances I have to pulled out my application and requested for refund. It has been almost one an half month i haven't got any positive response from them. They sent me a refund request form and told me to send it as soon as possible as it took 6 weeks to get the money and I sent it within 24 hours (23rd Dec). I understand due to christmas holiday it got delayed. But now the college is up and running but still no response. They set deadline when tuition fees need to be paid, but there is no deadline for refund, not even prompt response. We desperately need this money to pay some other college, but now my future is getting ruined because of this college finance team. They don't even deserve a single star to be very honest.

I studied at UOIT from 2012-2016. I've seen a lot of improvements in Durham College and Ontario Tech U in infrastructure over the past 5 years which is fantastic! They're always growing and gaining governmental funding all the time. I've high hopes of this University becoming a great learning center! During my time there in Software Engineering (Bachelors), I regret to say we had a lot of instructors that were very difficult to understand. On the plus side though, we had plenty of information and resources for our courses accessible easily online (through Blackboard). The Blackboard interface wasn't the easiest to use but I hope that has improved or been replaced with something better.

Highly not recommended for international students. Specially people working in international department are not CO-OPERATIVE at all and they called them self international student support officer. This place doesn't deserve one star rating.

Love this college. As an International student I wanna say that, come here join Durham college without thinking anything. They provide a lot of facilities specially for international students. The way of teaching is very good as well as staff is very caring of each and individual student. They follow the moderate technology for education. Every year they also host some cultural, musical and festival events time by time. Love this college ❤️

Durham's motto is "Success Matters", which likely only applies to the school itself, not its students. Aside from the constant renovation, different sections of the school fighting over the same classrooms/lab space, this seems to be your typical government subsidized school. The problem with the majority of the programs offered at this school, is that most of the professors come directly from the background of program that they are teaching. What's wrong with that, you ask? Simple. The majority of the teachers are FAILED workers at whatever they used to do, so now they teach it. "Those that cannot do, TEACH... at Durham College" should be their new motto. For example, I took animation and design at Durham College, the old program coordinator is a semi-retired filmmaker, the new program coordinator NEVER HAD A JOB IN THE INDUSTRY. Two or three of the part-time teachers took the program themselves 3 or 4 years ago at Durham College. These part-time teachers didn't manage to find decent enough work outside in the film/animation industry, so guess what? They are teachers now, how quaint. Durham College's "Employment Services" is a joke, they looked at my resume and cover page. Gee, thanks I guess three years of tuition and fees gets me a resume building workshop. Excellent work guys, thanks for the money trap. Their are other courses with their flaws as well, it seems that the major cash-cow for DC is the firefighting and police foundations programs. There are upwards of 100 new students each year taking this course, when the reality is that 5% or less actually get jobs as police officers. Honestly, at this point the government needs to step in and put a stop to this. The college knows their grads barely get hired, and if the industry is suffering and not many people are being hired out of school they should honestly do the right thing and reduce the number of new students. As it stands now, Ontario is highly trained with skilled workers but their are no jobs, and the schools know this... Again, "SUCCESS MATTERS" to the schools, but not to you. Good luck out there.

Durham is a very unique school. Overall I enjoyed my time here. Every single teacher was amazing. They were extremely engaging to a point where they wanted to spend their own personal time with the students and really persevered to make sure we would find careers after our studies. I never had an experience like this with a teacher before. I had some difficulties with the course and they were flexible with ways for me to progress. The best part of this school hands down is the social aspect. There are so many ways to meet people and I made a ton of friends because of the interlinking with UOIT. I joined an intramural sport held every week along with some clubs (and even made my own) which was an absolute blast. Even the health department excelled! There were downsides however that I would like to mention but again, the school itself was great (nobody's perfect). The administration process of the courses, clubs, etc was too bureaucratic. Not to say they weren't nice and helpful, but it wasn't smooth. Finding 15 students to start a club when I just started wasn't easy (with many unnecessary meetings) and I had tutors that couldn't help me with my studies, resulting in a refund and extra negotiating with teachers. On campus residence was also a wild experience. I had to change through many roommates due to hygiene and noise issues but eventually it worked out. Regardless this is an amazing school and if you are considering, should give it a try. Out of all the schools I've attended, this is hands down the best!

I called on the given contact information as my brother took admintion in this college and I couldn’t get a hold of him for 4 hours (as he didn’t have a local number) from the time when his flight was suppose to land and he told me that college will be providing the transportation service. The security guard answerd my call and I tried asking her is there a way through which I can get a hold of him and she replied rudely and refused to help, I hope if that dumb idiot’s family member goes missing someday and she ask for help from someone, she is being treated the same way.

I took one online course through this school. The professor is now trying to fail me for her lack of clarity. She made our final exam due on one date, and never posted a TIME it was due. I went to hand it in at 11:54pm, and she stated that since it wasn't handed in by 11pm, it would not be accepted. Needless to say the exam was changed due to COVID19 near the end of the course from in-person to a take-home. She never posted anywhere (I checked the entire Brightspace for the course) that it would be due by 11pm. So when I tried to hand it in, it wouldn't let me since the dropbox had closed. I immediately sent it in an email and stated that I didn't realize the end of day meant 11pm (Ok, I was much nicer in the email). She then replied stating that I didn't meet the regulations since it was less than an hour late, even though she never stated it was due by a specific time. This is on top of multiple other issues throughout the semester. But having professors who refuse to understand their own mistakes and acknowledge when they messed up, during a global pandemic when things are already stressful enough for everyone, is just ludicrous and anti-student success. Like the other reviews - I recommend going elsewhere for your schooling.

80% of professors are great, and on other side 20 % are very forgetful, unorganized. Have to learn online by try and error, many classes missed by professor. Nowhere to complain, or have an option to chose other teacher that lecture the same subject. As well when 2 students didn't take part in group assignment, the professor didn't do anything. She left us fighting among ourselves, as looks she was only looking to get good reviews from students... Good reviews comes if you solve the problem and not leaving and pretend that do not exist...

My experience with Durham College was dreadful and one way. I applied for Sept 2020 in take (YES!) for HRM and Project Management program and paid the application fee (which is non refundable). I am following up since then on my decision. Be very careful of this college and their responsiveness. Hello, fellow graduate from the 2016 PSI program here. I loved the services and spaces in this campus, as all the lecture rooms were big and could accommodate all the students. All the professors I met there were really great, and showed how much they wanted to help out in my future career. The Computer commons was huge, and the events and clubs held there were fun. There's also the older Simcoe Building with smaller, less roomy classrooms but luckily I only had 1 course there. The line-ups at the Timmys were usually long though, and I wish the cafeteria was bigger. Because this campus is on the same property as UOIT, you do have some access to their facilities too. Buses usually come on-time too, and are easy to access at the bus loop, though you may want to avoid peak hours where it's crowded. To all future DC students, enjoy your program here and take advantage of all the services they offer!

I can`t speak for every program at Durham College, what I can say is that I and everyone I knew that attended the arts-based programs at Durham College enjoyed their time there and would whole-heartedly recommend the school. I attended the 3D Computer Animation course there, and it was a blast. I`ve attended various schools, and I find the main difference at this school is the company you keep. The teachers are humble, personable, kind, and respectful; they care about their students. After a few years out of the country, I came back and started working at the school`s radio station (Riot Radio); the experience among students proved to be very much the same. It`s a great school, because it houses great people. :) The only downside [from my experience], was that working under the SA was messy, with toxic office politics muddying up an otherwise pleasant atmosphere. Riot Radio, as a "service" was at best a joke, and at worst a nightmare to work for/with, exclusively because the "leaders" tasked in establishing a safe and positive learning environment were more concerned with their own egos and using their positions as a stepping stone for their personal portfolio.

don't attend this college if you not rich an or don't have parental support. this college expect students to go to class 8 hours a day all day. you get tons of homework and constantly getting tests with no hands on experience. if you don't have parental financial support be prepared to go hungry regularly. jobs are hard to find. the work study job program is a joke. all the jobs all require previous experience. if you have class all day forget it. jobs are only available during school hours. i had to quit because i cannot study, to homework and tests and a full-time schedule on an empty stomach don't live on residence if you like to be surrounded by drunks, pot heads and love the constant pulling of fire alarms. Durham college is a great institute, I am currently in the HR program. The course lead and instructors have been nice so far. However run into multiple issues with clarity in my courses, many of my professors end up contradicting themselves and it seems like at times they dont know what they are teaching which is frustrating. Professors who just read from the slides are the same. You gotta engage with the students and motivate....I can read slides at home. Other than that, I like the school!

Went to Fanshawe first. Lab classes with 1 teacher 45 kids. 150 person lectures. No 1 on 1 time with a teacher. Durham was the opposite. 1 teacher 20 kids in a lab. 20-45 person lectures. Teachers know your name and really care. Pravin, Lauren, Louis, Tony, Rao, from the electronic program set me up for a great career in industrial automation.

It's a beautiful campus and most of the faculty are great! Unfortunately I've had nothing but trouble with the ones who are supposed to look into any questions and concerns I have regarding my program and school experience. I'm talking about the student advisors office, I can't speak for any of the others, this is just one of the many schools at Durham. They are not really available when you need them, they are completely reluctant to help. The people I've dealt with come off as very condescending and sometimes rude and aggressive. I've gone to my student advising office 4 times, each time with a question or concern and each time I've left feeling like I didn't get exactly what I was looking for, I was rushed, I wasn't taken seriously, and I should consider myself lucky that they even spoke with me because I'm not a priority and they are busy, and many other negative feelings. I have already sought out assistance for my concerns, and was directed to the RISE program, they are phenomenal, but again there is only so much they can do. I previously attended Durham a few years ago and I did not have any of these issues with the student advisors for that program, my experience then is not even comparable to now. I guess the student experience only matters sometimes! Also laboratory work makes up a large portion of my program, and I am very disappointed with the quality of the labs at Durham College. I'm not even referring to their physical state, I'm talking about the way they are structured and executed, very poor quality. I know how to work fast and have a sense of urgency, so I don't appreciate being told to work fast, then told I need to calm down because there is time (when there isn't, I can read a clock), then being rushed out to the point where lab equipment is being broken, not washed at all or improperly, and I feel unsafe, frustrated, and I have incomplete work and data. If the lab is that long, the lab talk at the beginning should be cut short or the lab should be split up, I had this issue last semester as well. If it is a known problem by the instructor and lecture instructor responsible for the lab that there isn't enough time to safely and properly complete the lab, I don't think that it is too unreasonable that maybe some revision needs to happen, or the outcomes need to change to make the labs manageable and SAFE. Also to be told what the "real world" is expecting is extremely frustrating. I am a mature student, I have worked out in the "real world" for many years, so I know what employers actually expect. It's a shame that Durham College believes being a full time student isn't considered "the real world". So maybe it's my previous work experience and the fact that I am a mature student that has me feeling like I have made a bad purchase by spending thousands of dollars at Durham College that I can not get a refund on. Seriously considering if I should spend anymore of my money here or take my business somewhere else that has more respect for their students.

Courses obviously depend heavily on profs. Parking is a nightmare. Gym is alright, but go in the morning. Afternoon is packed. It's a college. It's not amazing but you'll be treated fairly and they have lots of facilities on campus to help people out.

Ashley R

Very unimpressed. I've had several issues with different professors within the last 3 years. First, I had professor tell me the career I'm trying to pursue isn't for me if I'm stressed over a college strike after I asked him a simple question. When we go over the test he will tell you that if you got that answer wrong you are stupid or if you don't understand something you're an idiot. I'm not, nor is anyone else paying big money to get talked down to. Also, he is most definitely not making what he makes to talk down to students who already struggle and try their very best. Second, recently I had a group project and there were issues within the group so I emailed the professor to let him know and to help me out. Instead he never answered me but did mention to me the next class that he read it. When more issues came up he disregarded my email. Do not waste your money, pick another school. Better for you and your mental health. Once I'm done my program I will be going to another school, I would never pick this school knowing everything that I know now.

The worst year ever! If you have other school offers accept them. I was here for a 1 year graduate program and thank God all the time it was just one year. During my studies I was going through a rough situation at my student housing and walked to school in tears one day looking for the school's "counselors" they say they have. Asked many staff members where I need to go to locate this service and no one was able to help me. The time I needed someone to talk to the most, no support was there. On top of that Durham College denied my bursary/grant application ...which it's evident they did not read through my financial section because if they did they would of seen the $48 in my account that I needed to stretch to make it before reading week. I do NOT recommend this school to any student that does not have direct family support here locally. If you are an international student or a local student without a family this is not the place for you.

I find Durham College to be a friendly college with a good vibe. Most of the staff is helpful and nice. Compared to an awful experience I had at George Brown College. However a major concern that I have is that certain programs both full time and part time. Do not have a field placement given to you at the end. Its very important to do your research about each program. It's next to impossible in finding a job after you graduate. I was thinking about going back for part time but my concern is that there is no field placement at the end. I'm having a hard time finding work after attending the college. Another issue that I had was with certain professors. Where you go to class and you don't learn much at all. You have to self teach yourself in order to succeed and pass the class. You might as well just switch out of the class and take an online class instead. That's what I should have done but you don't know because you discover how the professor teaches the class half way through the semester. Also certain professors can be difficult and hard markers. So you end up with a lower mark. Overall I enjoyed my experience at Durham College however my major concern is that I didn't get much out of it in the end. There isn't much help from anyone at the campus after your done. I would love for Durham College to have a recruiting office. Thanks

The school really lacks student involvement and activities. They treat you like a product being shipped to corporations and businesses rather than individuals with abilities to socialize, work together to make great impact, and communities. Students pay 1300 in student fees. However not even the 50% of that 1300 actually gets to be used toward student life improvement.

Durham College was an amazing place to study. Other reviews mentioned that most graduates don't get jobs and that it is looked at poorly by employers. That's simply not the case. I attended college here and was hired as a contract employee even before graduating from my program and after I finished my contract position I was hired by one of Canada's leading research universities. I will say some of my classes were hit and miss but classes are heavily dependent on the professor. I do think Durham could do a better job of hiring those who teach their courses but otherwise I found the learning environment great and the campus is modern and a great place to be. Oshawa isn't a bad city and doesn't deserve the criticism is gets. Its a little rough but its a product of the automotive industry and who make up the population but newer neighborhoods and businesses are moving in everyday. There is a great selection of restaurants for those who like variety and are a bit adventurous. I would highly recommend Durham College. I know many people who have gone there, for a variety of different program from Web Design, Business, and Public Relations, all of them are competent professionals who are valued by their employers. A huge part in getting employed after college is putting in a lot of hard work during college. Just because you have the diploma and managed to pass the classes doesn't make you a qualified working professional.

What an absolute laugh, the teachers clearly needed an online literacy course, all of them do things different and don't use the DC Connect resources, they also are rude when you suggest things to make things easier. AND SOMEONE TELL ME WHY, THEY HAVE IT SET UP SO THAT YOU CAN USE FIREFOX FOR INTERNET AND MAKE USING OTHER BROWSERS IMPOSSIBLE!!!! Admins are a joke as well, they treat every complaint or issue with outright hostility and suspicion. I was once blacklisted from applying to courses for owing less than $20 in printer fees, and they WILL come at you, sending creditors and harassing letters...you're better off paying slightly more somewhere else. I'm only going here because grants covered most of my tuition....and I still want my money back.

Shawn “RNGeniusSR” Robertson

I have just completed my first year at Durham College in the Human Resources Program. I can honestly say that if I had to pick schools again, I would absolutely not pick Durham. The school is an absolute joke filled with teachers who do not really teach at all or engage the class room. Sadly some teachers even mark tests and assignments based on the mood they're in which should never be allowed to happen. With the amount the students pay in tuition and book fees and with Durham College claiming to care about the student experience these issues should not happen. I've gotten very lucky and have had a few teachers who are amazing and care but from what I've learned so far Durham College does not care about its students being successful inside the classroom or having teachers who actually teach their students.

Durham's advertising program is awful. Kevan was always extremely rude and disrespectful, not to mention outdated. His graphic design work is just straight up BAD. This college has inexperience Instructors in all of Ontario. Before you decide to start your education, invest your money or send your children for education to this college please do your research. I did two years of “fire life and safety” technician program. In my first semester the instructors told students by passing all classes students will qualify for CFAA license and a job placement and diploma. By the End of third semester second year everything changed and now students had to have 70% or more to be qualified for placement and CFAA license, and students with lower passing grades just get the diploma. That’s something they didn’t tell us from the start. When I went to complain to administrative staff I wasn’t able to get much help and the student advisor will only offer full time courses. Your not able to pick part time classes or single course after you fail a course in your previous semester or wanting to increase your grade. Student advisor answers is ”we simply don’t offer course by itself” you have to be a full time student. All they think about is you spending most of your money. Our math and electricity instructor unit test were totally different from what the instructors thought us in class. When asked the instructors we never learned these equation and you never thought us these equations in class, the instructor would reply the test is not written by them it’s written by the college and it’s not their job to teach us exams and tests that’s not written by them. The program coordinator was teaching most of the classes, he expelled some second years students just cause they argued about placement positions that they were promised. So there was no way for students express their concerns. Also before attending Durham college look up how much parking will cost you, because the Durham’s bus system is really bad and unreliable. It will cost 700 plus tax for parking, if you don’t register a semester ahead your paying well over $1300 annually or $14 per day. It is almost half of your tuition. For a college in middle of no where your paying way to much considering students have to pay for gas, insurance and getting to school. If there was a way I could give Durham College zero stars I would. There is no one in the administrative staff that care about your concerns or your fellow classmates concerns. The only person you can express concern to is your student advisor and there approach to every student is to bad your complain isn’t worthy enough to proceed further. Growing up people told me you buy experience now I know what they meant. Hopefully this will help some people get an idea of what they are getting themselves into when joining Durham College. Definitely not a good experience.

Chris Benjamin

I don't like doing this, but in this case negative reviews are justified. It hurts having to write this but I need to warn future students... If you care about your future, avoid Durham College. 50% of the teachers have been excellent, 50% are absolutely terrible. There is no effective, efficient way to get anything resolved, so if you have issues with the course it will be miserable (many online courses are riddled with broken links, expired resources etc). I deeply regret committing three years of my life to Durham College, massive mistake. #AnywhereBUTDurhamCollege

Very disappointed with Durham College not offering the same transit UPass system like in the past forcing many students to drive to campus and keeps changes courses every so many years to keep part time students forever at school. These colleges are money grabbers. My boyfriend has spent seven years in the accounting program and can't graduate because of new requirements and courses added every year. Additionally, the program doesn't offer any future for students and the placement does not get students' foot into the accounting doors permanently just because of how extremely competitive the field is. The same thing goes for the dental hygiene program. At the end, you're basically left alone and can't pay your loans even with the lack of return on investment for this education. Now what's even the worst is you can't see which professor you're choosing for your timetables, so you're stuck with professors you will hate for life. They will no longer offer students a freedom to pick a professor they actually can work with. They make you now spend almost the same money as for university courses utilizing the same exact textbooks and courses, yet you're given a diploma that is not worth anything for many programs. When you transfer to universities, they will not even count the courses for half the credit. What a waste! Do not recommend college education for any domestic or international students, especially not Durham College. The environment is no longer that friendly and welcoming environment it used to be once as well.

Only issue I have with this college is the Financial Aid Office...they are painfully slow with processing applications. One lady who was supposed to process my summer application "was away from her desk for a few weeks" really.....I could understand if it was something serious, but if not..why are you going to go away when it is the beginning of a semester and that is considered "crunch time". Also couldn't another FA officer process my application instead of waiting on a lady to return? So far I am a month into my courses and still no financial aid has been issued to me. They get the job done...but on their time and not for the students. Overall very good programs and so far OK profs, but the FA office definitely needs some improvement.

Don't go to this school! Especially if you have a disability. They don't work with students who have disabilities as they claim. I am not surprised about all of the negative reviews on this school. Some profs at this school teach you. Other profs at this school don't teach you at all. I have a disability and some of my profs don't care about my disability at all. They don't follow my asc accommodations at all. So many students have been complaining about these problems to the school and they do nothing about it. They just want your money. Some of my friends have been threatened by the school when they complained about the problems at this school.

Durham College is, by far, the best educational institution that I have ever been a part of. My teachers were helpful and supportive every step of the way and encouraged me to do better than what I thought was my best. My program also helped set me up with a placement that further helped increase my chances at being employed and skill set! I love the campus, the people and the staff. All of my fellow classmates thoroughly enjoyed our courses and we all feel prepared for working in our industry. Thank you, Durham College! I would recommend this school to anyone who wants to be part of something amazing!

About 40% of the teachers I've had are incompetent and have chosen the wrong career choice. I've had teachers who will give a review to a test and have next to none of the content in the review on the test, teachers who say no multiple choice on the test end up having 20% Of the test multiple choice, teachers that speed through marking your assignments/ test and have to correct their marking because they made many errors, teachers who create tests with vague questions/ mistakes and constantly need to clarify them. I really hope that this school hires it's staff more carefully, someone that can't teach shouldn't teach.

I enjoyed my time at Durham College. It is a great school for the Dental Assisting program. The faculty are easy to approach and really do strive to help you succeed. I am witness to the staff that took the extra time out of their schedules out of class time to help those that needed extra assistance. So for those who say Durham does not help you to succeed... Id say it must be program specific. I was offered employment on my second week of placement. The teachers are there to get you to SUCCEED your program. After that the rest is up to you. It's all how you market yourself.

I've read over the reviews on this school and am a little disappointed.. It's unfortunate that so many people have had negative experiences, and have not been able to find jobs but when applying for a school program you need to look into employment rates, and employment demand. I know many people who have graduated the college and university programs here and have found careers. Unfortunately for a lot of people things don't go as planned and they choose to blame the teachers, school, and actual program itself. I think no matter where you go you are going to have your good and bad teachers, and the same goes for programs. It is what you make of it a lot of the time, and there are always going to be mistakes made. As for some people not being able to find employment, the statistics are on the schools website and should be researched before entering a program. Making educated decisions is part of becoming a successful adult. Personally I have been in three college programs. The first was interior decorating at Humber college which was an awful experience for me, though I realized quickly that the program was not a good choice and discontinued. Second I entered Durham College's fundamentals of art and design program with the idea that I could possibly go into fine arts or graphic design.. but realized this would also be a path that had too high of a possibility for failure after a lot of research and speaking to people. Now I am in the personal support worker program. I chose health care because I know from research and speaking to people who work in the industry that it is a booming industry so I felt taking the program was a good decision. There is a lot of work but I feel confident and excited about the amount of careers available so I find it east to put my mind to getting things done. All in all I think that this school is not perfect, but information is out there for people to do research and make informed decisions. This school has some good programs and teachers, you just need to know what is in demand before deciding on a career.

Had a horrible experience with transphobia at this school. He went even further and said all trans people and even the PARENTS of trans people will burn in hell. Thanks Campus Church (and Durham College) for making me feel so unsafe and completely driving me away from religion for good.

As an incoming student with a disability, I had high hopes of attending this college until I learned of how DC (along with a few other colleges in Ontario) put financial penalties onto students with disabilities who require reduced course loads as form of accommodation. After reviewing Durham’s “Tuition Fee Policy for Students with Permanent Disabilities”, I was dismayed to learn if I decide to finish my diploma program in 3-4 years [instead of the usual 2 years] that on top of paying 2 years worth of full tuition, I would also be charged an additional $25 dollars for remaining courses plus $1,093.97 in college ancillary fees for EVERY YEAR it takes me to finish my program. This is hideously unfair. I successfully graduated from another diploma program at Centennial College back in 2004 and never encountered such a financially punishing policy. Back then, students with disabilities were viewed as “part-time students” and we never charged extra for finishing remaining courses nor were we required to pay additional ancillary fees after paying full program tuition. Due to this revelation, I declined enrollment at this corrupt college and in turned, saved myself from future exploitation/disillusionment. I agree with the previous reviewers here. Money [student profit] matters more to Durham College than fairness in terms of student success. I feel sorry for prospective and current students with disabilities who are currently not aware of this policy (they are being robbed). They deserve better.
