This University corresponds to the category of Indian restaurant.
Our usual order are vegetarian thali and dal makhani.
You can't go wrong at Bombay Bhel. Our usual haunt is the one at Hurontario and Eglinton. But the Oakville location is equallg good. They have a diverse menu and the favorites are always spot on. Do yourself a favour and start with the pani poori!
Service and food were passable. Place was dirty, I even saw the exterminator come in, not sure if it was corrective or preventative. I let them know my dietary restrictions (allergy) before ordering but offered little help in choosing. After packing up to leave they finally opened up and helped. Even then they still served me what I said I can't eat. Don't go, find some place else.
Very bad in all aspects of evaluation. I would assess the following points: 1) Order/Food - I made my order (chicken biryani and tandoori grand shrimp) at 7pm and it took them about 40 minutes to get the food ready. - The chicken biryani is so bad and doesn’t come in big portion as the other restaurants do. - The tandoori grand shrimp usually comes with a side to select from fries or rice or salad. I chose fries but it never comes, as the server found it better to bring me salad :) - All my orders were mild but the cook thought it would be more convenient to make it hot. 2) Uniform - Usually in every restaurant the servers wear a uniform but this one everyone has his own. So sometimes you are not sure who is the customer and who is the server. 3) Cleanliness - This place looks and feels old and it seems that they have never run any renovation projects. - Washrooms lack hygiene 4) Prices - Above average if you put the portion as a factor. The conclusion: I will never come back again
ordered chicken biryani and now i have a stomach ache and feel sick. :( and also got butter chicken, its literally melted butter. honestly so worried now, i think it was the chicken in the biryani, cause it was really grey from the inside and tasted like a day or more old.
The Bhel is excellent and something I get every time I come. Decor is average but all the veg dishes are really good and the garlic naan is super tasty! Service is built good but not exceptional.
Omg so delicous ????
I had a blast here! The atmosphere was serene, the establishment was clean and well kept, and our server was exceptional in attitude and service, and helped make the stay very enjoyable! I ordered the super hot lamb and he gave me props for eating such spicy food without being bothered by it(lamb was DELICIOUS and this coming from a East coast Greek)! The desserts of rice pudding and mango ice cream were both rich, creamy and sweet and top notch as a finish for the experience! Thank you guys for the foody love and a very pleasurable stay!
Consistently tasty food and good service.
Food quality and quantity is very nice - they have a lunch menu which is around $10 to $12 and has daily special or choose from ala carte menu. I have seen the place busy during lunch on Fridays and the wait is a little bit longer than usual. You will like it if you love Indian food.
"Great ambience. Wall decor, Hindi music and staff create excellent meal experience." This was my experience a few years ago. The last visit was a 180-degree-change. The wait staff served us the menu while sweeping the floor and collecting food scrap on the floor with a dustpan. The management had failed both in customer service and food safe, to train staff, that he argued that he is not handling food and just giving us the menu before washing hands. The lost the appetite minimized the lunch to bare minimum one table d'hôte item; just to serve from the pot. It took 30 minutes to arrive (double time time required for à la carte item) only after we tried to cancel the order with a another server passing by. The reason behind the delay was sad. It was 3.30 PM. It was the time the management had given our waiter his lunch break. He was sitting in the dining room and having his lunch.
Ordered BHEL puri and received dry puffed rice, pieces of papdi onions and sauce separately. If I want to mix them on my own and make a dish I would rather buy the ingredients from a super market and mix them. Disappointed to see this laziness from the cook to prepare a finished product for delivery. They might be thinking they are serving a tea in 5 star hotel by serving milk decoction sugar seperately.
While the food is good, if you are accustomed to the quality of the Eglinton location then you may find disappointment at this location. Same menu, but each kitchen prepares their dishes differently. Eglinton having the best recipes with flawless consistency for freshness, texture and taste. I would still rate this among the top Indian restaurants. If you are a connoisseur of Indian cuisine then The Maharaja or Eglinton Bombay Bhel perform a notch above.
Our go to place for Indian Food in Oakville, spanning many years
- Average Ambiance - Average food quality. I tried vegetarian thali. Palak paneer was poor quality, resr all average. Kheer was good. - Nice & well behaved staff - Vegetarian & Non-vegetarian both options are available. - Serves beef, chicken, goat & lamb in non-veg - Beer options are available - Wheelchair accessible entry
Took my mom here for mothers day. Appetizers were amazing. But when it came to the main course they took for ever to bring out our food. We ordered the tandoori platter and naan. They brought out the platter before the naan and the food pretty much got cold before the naan came out. Had to complain to get the naan. Could barely hear the waiters because they didnt speak up. Didnt bring cutlery to table had to ask and they took 5 mins to get it. Service was horrible and food id give a 2.5 out of 5. Most of the meat was dry.
I can not say enough good things about this restaurant. Been going here for 11 years and the staff has turned into family. The food, service and overall ambiance is amazing. Would definitely recommend for in store dining or delivery!
Owner couldn't take the time to listen to customer's question. Hello?!? Im not Indian. How would i know the difference between naan and papadum? And cashier had the charm of a tick. Impatience is not something anyone should have if they're in the service industry.
- had a takeout order of veg samosas and pakoras. Was a last minute order but the accommodated very well! They had 50 samosas and 8 orders of pakoras ready in 20 minutes! The food was the hit of the party. Prices are very reasonable as well.
Worst dish ever had
Always LOVE this place for great food! Definitely try it!
My last visit wasn't great compared to previous visits. I arrived at lunch and the service staff didn't arrive yet. The cook had to seat me and I waited about 10 minutes before my order taken. About 5 to minutes later the staff arrived and when I finally received my meal it was like warm. I've always had a good meal on previous visits but don't know when I will be back again. This is with getting a corporate discount at this location.
Wonderful experience! The staff was very courteous, and observed all safety precautions to ensure that we had a great dining experience. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. The place airy clean and bright. The food was of excellent quality, and at a very reasonable price! The portions are much larger then expected, so although my friend and I expected to order dessert or something we just couldn't as we were just too full! Was my first time at this establishment (a recommendation from said friend), and as I enjoyed it thoroughly, I will definitely come back again and will advise all my friends and family to go as well. Thanks Bombay team :)
Classic indian cuisine. Great catering for my sis in law's birthday party last night. Trays were sealed tight even saran wrapped inner to avoid spillage. Food was delicious, appetizers mini samosas, tandoori chicken and entrees butter chicken, chickpea curry, okra mixed veg dish, dessert raas malas, salad, rice, naan .... endless delight. Fantastic job. Guests said Bombay Bhel is their fav indian food and takeout was just as awesome????.
Their food is phenomenal. The portions are pretty huge too, I usually eat from here with a few friends and we share a few different dishes. The service has always been good as well. First place I would recommend if someone asked me about an Indian restaurant.
Went to have Bhel Puri for lunch, worst evel bhel in my life. All they had in it was loaded with Rice Crispies (kurmura), 4 tiny peanuts and 4 tiny pieces of potatoes with tasteless tamarind chutney.$7 for a bowl of rice criespies! Never again!!
The food was absolutely tasty but quite overpriced for the amount, I had called in to ask about the menu and brought up how many naans they give - the person on the phone said 2 naans, so I tried to confirm as it's usually only one and she said "1 naan cut into 2 pieces".....so naturally, I rolled my eyes and went for the rice option instead - if you can, skip the falooda as it was not that flavourful but the curries are great
This place has the best Indian food around in Ontario hands down. Not to mention the portions are nice & big. Restaurant is clean. Staff is spectacular. I drove all the way from Hamilton to eat there. Worth the drive.
Dude kept looking outside and at his phone while we ordered and every single thing was wrong.. will not go back portion seemed like they ran out of food.. asked for yogurt never got it.
Nice place for chaats, pani puri samosas etc
Very tasty meals at this restaurant although i have had an issue with the naan side order that is served with lamb curry twice in a row now. The naan contains bugs(weevils). To my little research female bugs get into the flour and lay their eggs which later hatch and start feeding on the flour. Although they are generally harmless (due high heat the naan get prepared in), they are disgusting and should not be in the food. This is unhygienic. Get rid of them by simply sieving your flour!! nkt!
We ordered achari chicken tikka and kadhai paneer. Chicken was dry and they gave us old sauce. Paneer was old and stale and undercooked veggies. Also naan were like dry roti. Bad lighting, mediocre ambience. We went there thinking it would be similar to one to mississauga. Will not recommend at all.
Delicious... I've been going to this location for more than 10 years for dine-in and take-out... the portions are large (1 dish per person and you'll have leftovers) and generous servings of meat, paneer... the Korma sauce is thick with cashews... the Tikka masala is rich and tomatoey... Vindaloo is spicy and vinegary... in Oakville I believe this is the best tasting Indian food out of the 4 places I've tried here...
Indian restaurant with all the standard menu items. Large portions suitable for sharing in a clean nicely appointed atmosphere. The music is appropriate too. Perfect for novices of Indian food (tasty but not too spicey) but satisfying for the experienced. If in a hurry the take out door is on your right hand side of entrance.
Terrible food “Butter Chicken” curry was of extremely bad quality. Chicken used in the curry was not grilled and Curry itself had stale smell as if made from frozen food. And "Chicken Biriyani" was more like VEG TAWA RICE mixed with boiled chicken. Total waste of money!!
Love this location the best for the food. Very friendly staff, great service. We've tried almost everything on the menu and loved it all. Not sure what to order....just ask.
Decent food. Tacky decor and ambience. Servers weren't friendly...Garlic naans were great. Mutton Biryani was weird. Never had biryani with green peppers and tomatoes in it, before. Tasted okay but it was weird :). Chicken korma was average. Chicken malai Tikka was sour...
I use to love this place and going here . They had really good food . I went here with my girl friend like I usually do and I ordered a thali about a month ago . Our food was cold , dry and very badly presented . The naan was burnt , the rice was scattered all over the plate . I am not the one to say anything we ate the food . The server asked us how was the food so I told her that this time it was very cold and dry and she just stood there didn't say anything shook her head and brought me my bill . I will never go here again . Bad service !!
Inordinate delay in getting the food after we made the dine-in order. We spent a good 35 minutes waiting for Thali order which should be quick. Missed a chance to go to pharmacy before it closed and could not get a pain medication that we needed that night. Go during evenings only if you had can spare a good amount of time. Post dinner: bad food. Daal was smelling funny. Paneer Kadhai was covered with onions and tasted like Baingan Bharta. My teenage food-loving son left all three vegetables as is on his Thali. Better to avoid this place.
the service is not so good, the order taker ignored us. . . It feels like racism. . .As well Kheer was without sugar and the Palak Paneer was totally 1 week old. . .I would like to say, this restaurant is WASTE OF MONEY
I was here with family for evening snacks. The chaat was no where near Indian chaat. It was just tasteless chickpeas and curd over some puris with lots of frozen tamarind paste over that. The kulfi falooda was only sugar ... it was sugary to the extent that your brain will go mad with the mad taste. Not recommended for snacks.
I love the spicy lamb Vinadaloo. I have been trying it for 14 years and have never been let down. My wife loves the butter chicken and has started spicing it up as well. Highly recommend it.
If there was a minus 1 star I would give it. I was shocked by the amount of food I got for the price I was paying. Very poor portions. When I addressed it to the waiter, he was very unapologetic and said that their costumers ' are under a special diet' this is why their portions are small and nobody had complained but "me". The restaurant is clean, although I would not recommend it in a million years.
I'm a foodie. Earlier this week we were shopping at Galleria and the whole parking lot smelled like heaven - it was Bombay Bhel. I couldn't resist the urge and finally ordered takeout - tandoori chicken, lamb curry, chicken vindaloo, and chicken Biryani. The curry dishes came with either rice or naan and all dishes are at a very reasonable price. The drive home was the hardest as our car smelled like heaven and we were drooling. Once we got home, the first bite was ammmmaaaaaazzzinngg. And to my surprise, the fries that came with tandoori chicken was SOO GOOOOOOD ughhhhh. All dishes were so well done and we had left overs for 2 more meals! Definitely one of the best takeout orders during the covid period. Can't wait to order from the again!! In my personal opinion, they are a 5/5 :)
Food Had zero flavour! Have been to other locations and food has been great. This location was disappointing.
Been here several times and the food was always fresh, hot, tasty and good quantity. Would recommend.
Bombay Bhel is a very nice restaurant, offering dine-in and take out. The menu offers a wide range. Our personal favourites are the Karahi dishes offered with fresh soft Naans. The prices are fair. The wait times are not long compared to other restaurants. Lots of seating tables are available.
Severs were prompt to bring menus and water. This restaurant gives generous portions and has great flavours! I would definitely recommend!
Very good easy Indian food, service very good. The portions are large and will not go hungry. I've had this kind of food in each province of our country and this is one real good food place.
I ordered tandoori fish Tikka. But they sent us very dark small chew fried fish. Rest of the order was very good. Goat curry was excellent. Portion size good.
Just ordered some chole bhature ( chickpeas dish) and honestly the chickpeas has no flavor as if its canned product off the shelf from a super store. Missing all those great spices and ingredients that normally an indian restaurant or at home cooked would have. I never leave negative comment but I had to be honest about this one since my lunch is ruined.
I noticed in the last month a lot of reviews that speak of a change in the food here. I have to say I 100% agree. I ordered my normal butter chicken and it tasted like a can of Campbell tomato soup. My tikka masala tasted nothing like it was. The food still tasted ok. But now not worth the price. Sad
Food is not at all great. The only thing which we liked is Tandoori Roti and Naan. All the curry which we ordered where tasteless. I will not refer or prefer to go to this restaurant again. Very poor food taste.
This has been my go to for good Indian for years and years. I am not sure if it recently changed ownership, but the food quality has really gone down hill. The food has almost completely changed in taste and consistency. Butter chicken now tastes like chicken in a sweet tomato sauce. Super disappointing
Good at first. We have been there a few times only for takeout. The first time we actually got a decent amount of food, the wait time was good, nothing to complain about. The next time around, we were shortchanged a bit with the portions. The final time we went (all each, a week apart) they forgot a part of our order, we asked for extra mint sauce- never received it and waited almost 45 minutes just to pick up 2 appetizers. We were told the wait would be 20 mins. Additionally, no apologies were made. Don't know if there will be a fourth time.
My husband and I have been eating here for several years now and we were so pleased to see the dining room had re-opened last night. I felt like I needed more from my naan so ordered the onion version for the first time. It was beautifully crafted (seriously! look at the picture!) with the lightly seasoned onion evenly distributed throughout the bread. Gorgeous to behold and a pleasure to consume! This will be my upgrade now to their delicious thali platter. Food was excellent and service was attentive.
Excellent food. We have been visiting this restaurant for so many years. They have been able to maintain the authentic taste. Their hospitality is great. Also, on special occasion their team always do something different like bringing small cake etc to add spice to your celebration.
No Prices On Their Menu is what made me order food from Another Indian Restaurant.... it’s 2020 .... I don’t want to order a butter chicken and get charged $100 for it. Add prices so you get some more business
My impression about this place wasn't really a good one for couple of reasons. First, the place was extremely cold when I went there and I was really bothered because of that. Second, the place from inside was simply dull with ugly design and decorations. Third, the service was also not impressive. Their food is delicious sometimes and could be completely the opposite. Not really a good choice and not up to standard.
We eat here often, maybe three times a month and always enjoy the pakoras, butter chicken, curried spinach and eggplant dishes. Take out is equally good: meaning everything is tender and spiced just right. The portions are large and maintain flavour for next day leftovers. I don't know if all three locations are equally good but this one at Winston Churchill and Dundas is superb.
We have been coming here for several years. This place is consistent with the great quality and delicious food. Thank you so much Bombay Behl team. Keep up the great place.
Horrible experience, don’t recommend at all. Food was mediocre and highly priced. The waiters had no patience, didn’t bring the ordered items and seemingly forgot despite writing it down. One waiter was even rude with an attitude of giving away food for charity. If you want to have a peaceful dining experience, avoid this place at all costs.
I've been ordering take out goat curry and at first the product was okay but not authentic. Last 2 times I ordered goat curry all I received were bones with very little meat. The majority of the dish was all bones, green pepper chunks, and strings of onion. Flavors were poor and not authentic. Not a place to go to for goat curry enthusiasts.
I was recommended by someone to try the daal makhni as I had been craving it, I was rather disappointed though. The daal and a Naan costs $15.. N i added a garlic naan which was a ridiculous $3.95.. 4 bucks for a Naan!? So overall really overpriced (prices not shown on the menu pdf online).. Daal was average.
I'd like to give this place 0 stars if possible. We had asked for the food to be spicy and specifically asked for NOT sweet. The chef was great and completely understanding once he came out. There was a lady claiming she was the owner, Aarti, scolded us and told us we we're crazy. She was absolutely the worst we've ever dealt with. I'm usually a generous tipper and reviewer, but this place took the cake. We've been to many Bombay bhel's before, but this was the first time I was treated this way. While the chef understood where we were coming from, none of the rest of the staff did. I recommend NOT coming here. We had a terrible experience. Even the beverages we ordered were under a different title on the bill. Extremely upset about this and will be telling other Bombay Bhel's locations about this. If you see the picture, there's a reason why this place has only one table out of the whole restaurant taken on a Saturday night.
This place is the worst indain restaurant in gta please avoid it due to hygienic concerns the place smells and the staff wear there mask under there nose. We ordered the chicken masala and ir was not even cooked fully and the Naan was hard old and stail. If u want a bad experience then I would recommend going here. Never again
I ordered seven butter nan and two butter chicken at 5 pm and said I will pick it by 7 pm. When I went by 7 Pm the person at the counter immediately billed me and said that it should be ready and went away to come after a few minutes to say that it will be ready. No body even bothered to come for 30 minutes and then finally he comes with my food. Certain customers are compensated others they do not even bother to answer. We go there as it was a place near to us, but now it not a recommended place at all. The food is expensive and they give you at there leisure. Better to drive half and hour to Brampton or Mississauga and get better Indian food at cheaper price .
Ordered lunch todays special. Food and wait time were both good, and so was the waiter. Place is somehow clean with areas that look beaten up. Smells half clean, maybe the Indian curry effect. Yes, and I learnt “Namaste” ???? :)
We are very disappointed from the service of this restaurant. We ordered paneer Tikka masala but we got dry paneer Tikka. I just checked and ask them to replace it or give me my money back. The owner of the restaurant came out and start yelling on me. She said she was the owner and I have to take the food as it is. There was another guy who atleast talked to me nicely and tried to understand me. But the owner was very arrogant, I was even listen her yelling back from the kitchen. Not even want to give one star but there is no option.
Used to go to this branch of Bombay Bhel a few years ago and it was pretty good. No more. We went last night - ordered papri chat - it was the worst I have ever had (been eating this for many years!). Hardly any ingredients and no flavor. Then had chicken vindalooo which didn't taste anything like vindaloo. I made the mistake of ordering wine which tasted like an open bottle had been lying around for weeks, and finally the service was extremely poor. The staff does not appear to have the slightest idea about how to wait on tables. I am Indian, my husband is Canadian, and we both thought the food, wine and service was terrible.
