I took the time to finish my Baccalaureate before writing this review and I hope it can be constructive for the administration of the school. The good points of ÉTS: -Lots of resources for student projects and practical labs -The buildings are well maintained -Close to downtown, restaurants, grocery store, etc. -Most teachers are passionate -The people in charge of student clubs work 110% -Student life -Three compulsory internships -Very practical and well done internship system -A lot of scholarships -Good practical training The bad points of ÉTS: - Gaps at the administrative level of the school since the change of the director -The communications department represents the school terribly badly -Construction during exams -System to register that does not reflect a '' superior '' school (Cheminot) -Security guards have no common sense -The lessons towards the end of the journey are not as good as at the start of the course -Even after several years, school can be a real maze -The food company (Chartwells) is incompetent -The cafeteria is expensive and the employees are morbid and always frustrated -Some optional courses are questionable in terms of content and relevance of the subject -The library closes at 10 a.m. and the school officially closes at 2 a.m. (Original) Voici les raisons pour lesquelles je ne donne que 3 étoiles sur 5 pour l'ÉTS. J'ai pris le temps de finir mon Baccalauréat avant d'écrire cette critique et j'espère qu'elle pourra être constructive pour l'administration de l'école. Les bons points de l'ÉTS: -Beaucoup de ressources pour les projets étudiants et laboratoires pratiques -Les bâtiments sont bien maintenus -Proximité du centre-ville, restaurants, épicerie, etc. -La plupart des professeurs sont passionés -Les personnes qui s'occupent des clubs étudiants travaillent à 110% -La vie étudiante -Trois stages obligatoires -Système de stage très pratique et bien fait -Énormément de bourses -Bonne formation pratique Les mauvais points de l'ÉTS: -Lacunes au niveau administratif de l'école depuis le changement du directeur -Service des communications représente terriblement mal l'école -Construction pendant les examens -Système pour s'inscire qui ne réflète pas une école ''supérieure'' (Cheminot) -Les agents de sécurité n'ont aucun gros bon sens -Les cours vers la fin du cheminement ne sont pas de aussi bonne qualité qu'au début du parcours -Même après plusieurs années, l'école peut être un vrai labyrinthe -La compagnie qui s'occupe de l'alimentation (Chartwells) est incompétente -La cafétéria coûte cher et les employés sont morbides et toujours frustrés -Quelques cours à option sont questionnables au niveau contenu et pertinence de la matière -La bibliothèque ferme ses portes à 10 heures et l'école ferme ses portes à 2 heures officiellement

This school is for technicians. If you want something serious go to Concordia University, Universite de Montreal, McGill or Polytechnique instead. Don't waste your time there. Some programs are totally useless in real life. Automated Manufacturing with only 2-3 courses of automation makes NO SENSE!! Most of what you learned has been dumbed down so that technicians can pass the class. They want to promote teamwork but the school is filled with single child. Single child are the worst teammate.

Reasons for ets being above average: 1)We learn assembly, not the most helpful of programming languages but it’s definitely a language. 2) We have security guards on segways so you know it’s safe. 3) With almost 10% of our students being of the female persuasion we can say that our diversity is of utmost importance. 4) We are all technically technicians, however some of us still have no idea what we are doing here. 5) if you do decide to come here please be aware that all exams are in French with absolutely no way of having them in English. Recruiters love to trick us English folk. 6) we have a pub; it’s food is mediocre but it serves alcoholic beverages which can help you get through some of the more “exciting” classes. 7) the clubs are great even when they trap you in with a minimum requirement of 10-40 hours a week of involvement. 8) the cafeteria here has coffee though it tastes like dirty dishwasher at times. 9) it’s the university I chose so I guess that counts for something. 10) Teachers are so much more involved than at Concordia. The classes are capped at ~40 students. Cheers.

I used to think ETS was a good school for engineering studies, even though I have chosen McGill Engineering over ETS for McGill's global reputation. I wished to take a computer programming course (belonging to its general education sector) at ETS during the sumer holidays in 2019 to improve my computer skills. I was ready to pay!! However, I didn't expect that they were so bureaucratic!! Incompetent staff kept pushing me to other devisions and a lady kept asking me how I had found her office phone number. (Apparently she just wanted to sit there all day and receive her undeserved salary automatically.) They are so lazy and they were not willing to help!! The school gave me wrong information, which was contradictory to their official website. I am very disappointed at ETS because they are very bureaucratic. I think I have definitely made the correct decision of choosing McGill. By talking to people from these two schools, I can easily tell the difference. Don't believe the propaganda of ETS. The best engineers have solid fondation in theory. If you are good at theory, practice is what you can easily learn on the job, once you give yourself a few months time.
