I love this course, I highly recommend it to anyone that isn't good at math or physics. On the course page, it only mentions that you will operate 4 machines. This is far from the truth. In this course you will operate, Excavators, backhoes, skidsteers, wheel loaders, bulldozers, compactors, dump trucks, and articulated rock trucks. I might be forgetting a machine. If you want to learn the grader this machine isn't part of the course unfortunately however you can take a separate course for that. Overall you learn to operate lots of machines at a beginner level with teachers that have lots of experience in construction and in mining. The teachers don't always have an eye on what you are doing but this is because they have trust in their students. If a teacher catches you soon something that "isn't safe" you will receive a safety infraction. This is to enforce safety when operating. It isn't hard to get good grades in this course as long as you show up to class and do all the homework/online quizzes.
I have had friends that have takin this course in the past and they all found jobs relatively fast due to the HEO (heavy equipment operator) labour shortage.
I would give this course 11/10 if I could. I am still a student currently as my course finishes in the next month. I expect after this course to find a job in the mining industry fast that isn't only going to be fun but pays a lot for someone my age.
Oh yea to mention, all the machines are in good condition and relatively new. I'd add some photos but this course has a strict phone policy. No phones are allowed on the field. A zero will given for that day and you will be sent home.
