Underwhelming. Never been to a Montana's so crummy. Steak was overdone, loaded baked potato had about 5 pieces of graded cheese and 1 piece of green onion and half tsp of bacon bits. The Pepsi was watery, the beef brisket had barely any meat, was overcooked and no sauce. We left hungry. Our family always enjoys Montana's but this was terrible. Not recommended. Also, they don't have tap! Get with the program guys!

We decided to go to Montanas on Sat July 21 with our party of 20, very disappointing the food was not good,the waitress did not come by and ask us if we wanted any refills .The bathrooms were dirty no soap or paper towels we told our waitress 3 times about it and she did not do anything. We have went to Montanas before in St . Albert and had a good experience there so we all thought we would expect the same but no we did not.For the price and service we paid for I would not recommend anyone going to the restaurant. VERY DISAPPOINTED

My newly wed wife and I ordered the big beef rib and were very happy with it: marinated and seasoned well, good quality meat, cooked just right, and a good sized portion. The fellow who took our take out order was warm and polite. In the midst of the time of heavy restrictions, it was a good experience over all. God bless!

We have been going to Montana’s for years and have never had a bad experience until now. We arrived, were seated and given menus but, we waited a while before anyone asked us what we wanted for drinks. This should have been a sign but I dismissed it as being busy! We ordered a water, a kids milk, a coke and two colors light! The water came right away along with the the coke but my nine year old got zero milk and the beers sat on the bar for so long that the foam came down and the cups were no longer full. The bartender felt the right way to handle this was pouring beer from one cup to another and then refill the one. At this point I asked the waitress where my daughters milk was and finally received it but she still didn’t bring the beer till after that. When the beers were delivered we were told by our waitress she would be right back to take the order by this point we had already waited over a half hour to order. We finally ordered and then the wait began again! We waited so long other tables that had come after us received their food before us and one table that arrived at the same time as us even finished before us. My 9 year old was hungry and when food finally came once again after I asked about it, it arrived in intervals and my husbands steak was overdone but we didn’t dare say anything for fear it would take another hour to get a new one! All in all it was the worst service I have ever received! I have a food blog but refused to take photos or share anything on my page as I had nothing nice to say! Sadly this is the first ever bad review I have written and I hope I never have to do it again as I usually like giving Good feed back! I won’t be back to this location and let me add it wasn’t that busy so there was no excuse!

Disappointing to say the least. Went this evening and had issues with the ribs we were served. One set was amazing, fall off the bone good. The other was very tough, couldn’t cut through and barely any meat. They ended up giving us a new rack but the rest of us were done eating by the time it came. It was a mistake on the kitchen part for allowing that to be sent to the table. My kids ordered pizza and one with French fries. The kitchen dumped the French fries on top of the pizza so all the cheese stuck to the fries. Could this not have been put on the side? It destroyed her pizza seeing as it’s a cheese pizza and now there was nothing left on it after removing the fries. I had ordered a Pepsi which was spilled before it got to the table. I ended up choosing to order something else but yet was charged for the Pepsi. My hubby noticed it after the payment went through and mentioned it to the server. She felt bad and started getting her tip money out to refund us as she said the only person who could do it is the owner and they weren’t there. We were incredibly embarrassed with her doing this in front of others but honestly just horrible etiquette. No customer wants to take a servers tips!!! Prior to ordering we were told anything ordered that comes with corn bread we would not get as the corn bread was sold out. They didn’t replace it with anything yet it’s part of the meal you pay for. The owner of this franchise really needs to step things up. There should have been a substitute offered. On top of that the server didn’t offer ketchup or other condiments usually offered when your food is delivered. We asked for extra wipes for eating ribs which were never given. Mostly little things but it all adds up. Our server asked us if we wanted to leave our number for the owner to contact to refund the Pepsi after we declined her tip money but come on we aren’t going to come back for that. The point is someone should always be on staff that is able to refund when mistakes are made. Shouldn’t be left to the poor server to give her tip money but she also should have checked the bill before delivering it to us.

Service was bad. Food wasn't any better. After standing at the entrance of an empty restaurant for ten minutes we tried to seat ourselves only to be told to wait. After we finally got a table it took another twenty minutes to get a drink and place our order. Food took about half an hour to get to us and was hardly even warm. Due to the fact that the restaurant was empty I would expect better service than that. Probably won't be going back.

Typical Montana fair , you have the ribs and what not. I opted for the fajitas this day and the food was hot and fresh. This time of year the place was basically empty although it was middle of the day. Regardless you simply can’t beat a cold beer with that sort of scenery.

Really not impressed... Manager was arrogant and not helpful. We ordered and were told they were out of their striploin, then magically they had it.. They were not able to serve me different beverages.. Coolers, cosmopolitan... Forgot part of our order, steak was cooked beautifully by the way.. Unfortunately it was not seasoned and completely bland, hair in the food... When we tried to talk to the manager his solution was... Oh well maybe you should have said something sooner.. It's the first time I tried a Montana's in a small tourism town outside of major urban areas and I was not disappointed. Food quality was definitely up to chainwide standards and staff just as well trained and friendly. Unfortunately kitchen staff was not as efficient and food took almost half an hour to arrive despite the restaurant being almost empty; otherwise a higher rating would have been warranted

We arrived at Montana's in Banff at approximately 7:00pm tonight. The girls that greeted us were great and seated us promptly in the lounge. We decided on our order, both drinks and food but we were never served. The bartender looked up a couple of times and a server walked by a couple of times without so much as a glance our way. Then she disappeared. We waited 20-25 minutes and then we left. Horrible service!

Hour wait.. nobody taking down names with lots of people waiting.. reservations taking up a considerable amount of the restaurant.. out of ribs, milk, bacon, the beer we wanted, and likely lots of other things at 7pm.. "backlogged kitchen".. nowhere to sit even if you do wait.. would rather watch dozens of people walk out of the restaurant than serve them. Fireplaces with no fire, heat vents with no heat.

had dinner there tonite - was to be a birthday celebration for two 11 year olds - first off we told 3 people we had a reservation which no one seemed to know about finally got seated and it took forever for service . We finally got our order in and waited and waited and waited - finally the two boys got there meals but the adults waited at least another half hour for our food Not sure why we couldn’t eat together We were there a total of almost 2.5 hours for which most of our time was spent waiting - Will not go back nor will the other 7 people at my table and we are locals so we won’t be recommending Montana’s either

Experience didn't start well. Nobody to greet or seat us at the door We had wonder into the dining room before being greeted. Food was passable. One issue with the food was that one member of our party ordered a starter Caesar salad for $6 and it came on an 8 inch plate but another member ordered a house salad for the same price and got 1/3 as much on a side plate. Service was a major issue. Food took over 45 minutes to arrive after ordering and it all came out at different times. We would also ask for drink refills which didn't come until after reminding the server. All in all we spent 2 hours at the restaurant and were told they were short staffed only after we received the bill rather then being advised that beforehand.

Disappointing. It took 20 minutes to get seated. They're short staffed, and seems like they'll hire anyone. It took more than 45 minutes to receive our food. Once we did get it. It was just disappointing. The chicken in my Southern a chicken sandwich was burnt, see pictures. I had to remind the waiting staff I was missing the chipotle sauce for my sweet potato fries. 2 of my friends ordered the ribs that were advertised as "fall off the bone" when they were very dry and my it took some knife effort to get the ribs off.

Wow, the Montana's in Jasper is amazing. The food is somehow better than any other Montana's I have been to. The staff there are super friendly. Will go there over a lot of other local restaurants that have, sadly, disappointed us in Jasper. Their beers come in like crazy huge sizes and their fries are so delicious. Oh, and definitely get the beef rib. It's a delicious Brontosaurus/Flintstones experience!

Worst service I have ever had, they all acted like they were going crazy. Took about 10 minutes to even get acknowledged. We asked for rootbeer they never had any. My son wanted the kids pizza, wasnt an option. We ordered our food, pretty basic things and an appetizer. She never came to refill our drinks once I had to ask for a refull. No bi deal 15 minutes later still no drink. It was a paralyzer . We got our food still no drink my husband never got one as well needed a refill. Nevee got our appetizer asked she said she forgot to order. Still no drink... i asked and she said she forgot. I ordered a dteak and couldnt even cutthrough it and my shrimp weere burnt and cold. If I could give this a zero star I would. Waited over an hour for our food and when it finally came out it was cold! Waiter came out once 2 minutes into eating our coleslaw, no refills, son didn't even get to have his free dessert because NOONE came to service us! I was there last night and I watched your staff refuse to allow a group of about 10 indigenous people sit together at one big table. You made them sit apart at two tables. But Within a half an hour a larger group of white people came in and heaven and earth was moved to put them all at o e table. I also watched your wait staff be rude and abrupt with these poor folks, and even saw them refuse REFUSE to all one person to put their whole tab on one credit card. I was SHOCKED. And embarrassed.

Sitting in the Jasper outlet as I type. The heat is not working and it is freezing cold! The gas fireplace is not on. When I asked why not I was told they tried yesterday but couldn't get it to work. We have gone to Montanas in Edmonton and Red Deer and had great hot served food , ribs especially with great service. Jasper's Montanas was a monumental disappointment. Spinach dip was warm not hot, ribs were dry and luke warm. Got our uneaten dinner to go so we could put more sauce on and get to tender stage when we get home. Defeated the dine out experience. We ate at the Caribou in Valemount last night and it was "Excellent" food , temp and service. For a hot spot in Jasper the mark was off sorry , not on our return. Hope you can up your game when things get busier this spring/ summer 2021 March 13.

No host/hostess at door and no sign saying wait to be seated either. Tried ordering a beer and they were out of the kind Originally wanted. On too the food we tried ordering a 7oz steak and no longer had that and I had to order a 10oz. The steak was suppose to be medium-rare and came out medium-well or more or less well done, was dry and tough no pink. The sampler platter ordered which was missing a cut of meat we were informed of this and got 1 extra rib for it, but there’s a create or own pulled pork “sandwich” which only came with a half piece of bread where at every other Montana’s we have been too has had 2 pieces or a bun to actually create a sandwich. Over all disappointed. Talked to the manager he was very nice and friendly only made us pay for a 7oz steak and helped us substitute something in for the missing items. The waitress was very friendly and caring. People are wonderful that work there just the food was very disappointing .

Every wednesday Montanas does offer all you can eat pork ribs for $29.99. It does include the ribs as well as fries / potatoes, Cole Slaw and a piece of cake. You will start with a 9 bone rib and receive 3 / 4-bone-pieces afterwards. The restaurant was pretty crowded, so that we received a place directly at the bar counter. Staff was friendly and attentive, so that we never had to wait long for the next round.

Nope. Was not impressed. I have worked as a waitress among other jobs. They were indeed short staffed in the back but they we disorganized beyond belief in the front. Waited 1.5 hours for my food. And the chicken was raw. Not exaggerating. I thought maybe just a really bad day for our waitress. Messed up our one order so bad. But we met several others with same issues. Missed items, wrong items, beer or drinks coming AFTER the meal was already done and eaten. Manager was kind enough to take off my raw chicken, and the extra charge for the item we didn’t order. They need to get organized. So much potential. But need a better system to work as a team and like clockwork.

We had a wonderful time here, being Sunday night, it was quiet inside. We got a table by the window, and watched a fox walk across the street. Ordered take out since we're staying at pocahontas cabins with our dogs. Sad when the best part of your meal is the diet pop and the appetizer. I got the kids grilled cheese with sweet potato fries; since I'm not a huge eater. And not only were both cold but they were soggy. I threw out the fries. Good food lots of choice mainly bbq but they have beef, porn and chicken. You can take an expensive steak or Mexican fajitas. The portions are big so make sure you’re hungry. The service is good but they do not waste much time so just tell them that you like to look at the menu for more than a minute.

One of our meals was supposed to be a children's meal but we got the adult version. We didn't double-check before we paid. Kid's meal is cheaper but my kid was disappointed not to get the dessert. I've never written a review before for anywhere in my life.. but considering the fact that I am a fan of Montana's. I have to really say that the Jasper location was the worst taste experience I have EVER had in my life. I got the "Grilled chicken & shrimp" plate. The shrimp came out caked in grease, and I make a better chicken breast at home on the pan on 15 minutes.. not to mention the fact that all of the food was cold. The only decent part of the meal was the Spicy cauliflower appetizer. We also are staying at a cabin nearby that is 40km out. So we made the trip out solely for montanas. Easy to say we won't be returning. I have never returned or made a complaint about food in my life... very dissapointing.

Quite possibly the worst restaurant in Jasper. 2 of us ordered the sampler platter and there were things (some sort of food) on the plate that we couldn't identify. Both plates were missing items as per the menu, the server brought said missing items as quick as she could meaning it was slapped on cold and raw. Usually I wouldn't take the time to write an unfavorable review but here I am! Had a most unremarkable experience dining at the Montana's in Jasper. My meal arrived wrong even though I corrected the server 3 times. Ordered the Trio Meal, Ribs, Chicken Breast & Shrimp, got Ribs & Chicken wings, again told him 3 times that wasn't what I wanted! Halfway through eating my wrong meal my chicken breast & shrimp arrived. My shrimp literally tasted like the smell of burnt hair! What was funny, there were 4 tables in our area of the diningroom, 2 others while we were there complained about their meals, with the remark from the server, close to yelling " I've worked 3 months straight 17 hours a day, sorry if I made a mistake" and then just stormed off! There are a lot of great choices in Jasper to have an excellent meal. I highly recommend you choose anyone of them and completely avoid this restaurant!

Walked out of two other restaurants before stopping in here. Out waitress Gail was super friendly, made recommendations on our selections that we both enjoyed. Ask your waitress people- a good one will tell you what is a good choice!!! We wanted something different to drink after climbing a mountain and enjoyed another of Gail’s recommendations- a spiced rum drink with tones of fruit that we ended up buying a pitcher of!!! Good service, perfect steaks - and if you ask they do give you a 7 oz btw, no room for a dessert but the sky-high mud pie looked fabulous!!! Manager approached us towards the end of our meal to ask how we enjoyed it. Very impressed, we were in no rush, enjoyed the hockey game and had an amazing time here. Highly recommend.

I love this cook house for AAA sirloin with goose island indian pale ale in winter. This particular place at this visit is my first and hope it is not last coz I live in Calgary. Rude Manager Everything was fine until we were almost done with our lunch. This older lady who happened to be the manager started clearing a table in our area. My Son was just wandering around minding his own business, just being a kid. He was standing by the window admiring the Jasper weekend street traffic. My son is 4 years old. She passed by our table multiple times, and I could tell that something was bothering her. The restaurant was fairly empty and there were multiple tables empty around us. At one point she started cleaning an empty table and came to my wife to ask her to be "Seated" - in a very rude and condescending manner. My wife was standing next to her chair. This lady came back again and this time to tell my Wife to keep my child "Off" that area as she is going to have someone seated there. Again in a very condescending and rude manner. My son was nowhere around that table, He was on his chair or by the window behind our table the whole time. I didn't want to ruin our vacation so we decided to just ignore it for now and deal with it later. As it was getting very offensive & we were almost finished with our meal - I decided to ask for my check. I could see her going to her server and pointing in our direction and saying something. My server arrived with our bill and left the POS for payment. I paid the bill, while we continued to finish our meal and were planning for dessert. This is where it gets interesting - This Manager came around our table and started clearing our table while we were still eating our food & waiting for the dessert that came with the kid's menu. She took the plate away from us while we were still eating. We were shocked and speechless. We felt humiliated!!! At that very moment, our server arrived. I confirmed with our server if that lady was her manager (which she confirmed, yes that rude lady was the restaurant manager) and briefly told her how we felt. Before I could finish my sentence, She broke down in tears and apologized. She mentioned that she was having a very difficult time with her. Holding back her tears, She asked me about the desert but I declined and we left. We are still trying to figure out the reason behind the Manager's hatred towards us - Could it be because we were the only person of color in that restaurant at that time? I am going to escalate this complaint and hold her accountable for her rude and condescending behavior. It amazes me that the restaurant claims to be a family restaurant but shows a complete lack of empathy towards families with young children. I like going to Montana's but now I will never set foot in any of Montana's Chain.

I really liked the food of this place. I got the chicken tacos and they were awesome! With it, comes sprinkled “kapow!” Sauce, which went really well. They also have a Texas barbecue sauce that went really well with the fries. If I ever go back to Jasper National Park (a great park) I will definitely come back to this place! The service was also excellent, and I was glad it was family friendly and did not stink of alcohol the bar area.

Show up at closing after driving the whole day only to find out that we got to Jasper Montana 's right at closing. I walk in exhausted and just needed a snack for my family, I was met by a gentleman asking of I was coming in for a beverage and I told him I would like a drink and food for the family and he informed me that the kitchen was closed. I asked if there was any place in Jasper still serving food and he told me to hang on he'd see what he could do for us. WOW WOW WOW, the owner and staff at this place were fantastic. Don't waste your time here...literally! We waited over an hour (and only maybe five other tables occupied) for the worst restaurant meal we've ever had. The food was so bad we actually felt sorry for the server. My husband's Chipper fries were either burnt or raw in the middle and never came with any dip. My french fries were burnt and cold with a side of cold gravy. Other customers were also appeared upset with the wait. Definatly not up to Montana's standards. Such a perfect setting for a Montana's restaurant....too bad we won't be returning!

While at the Montanas in Jasper I witnessed the busboy/server? Not sure as it was late at night and he was just setting tables,for the next day, coughing and not covering his mouth while setting the tables, while holding handfuls of cutlery. And I thought this was bad enough, but on his was back to get another load of glasses this time he was picking his nose, wiping it on his jeans, picking up glasses setting them on tables, picking some more, grabbing more glasses. It was disgusting, but there was no one there to inform so I guess the people is morning were exposed to his disgusting hygiene!! Will never go there again!!

They ran out of corn bread which was the main sad thing. And I found my pulled pork sandwich didn't have enough to fill me up. Otherwise I love going there and the service was pretty speedy considering Covid. We sat in their upstairs patio.

We got asked where we wanted to sit and we proceded to sit in the dining area. Got our waitress Maggie who was friendly and very helpful in answering our Questions. We got our drinks and my fiance was cold in which a staff member noticed and asked if she would like a blanket. What a great touch. Then the meals came out and oh my they did not disappoint. Yummy, plentiful and flavoursome. Definitely will be coming back.

The food and service was overall good but the spinach dip appatizer was a massive failure. The pitas that came with it was so hard that my wife actually cut the inside of her mouth eating it. Not a great thing on our honeymoon. We said we would like it take back because there were too hard to eat... like hard tac. Unfortunately, we were still charged for them. I would guess they had been cooked much earlier and had left them out and they hardened like bullets. Would be nice if something simple like that could be cooked to order.

The reason they get 2 stars instead of one is they did recognize all of the issues and discounted our bill. I hope they get their act together but I won't be returning anytime soon.

We took our disabled adult son to Montana’s Jasper for his birthday supper. We waited over 20 minutes for a server to even approach our table ( ended being a server from another area that came because ours was no where in site). We ordered drinks and my sons drink took over another 15 minutes. When we told the server it was his birthday supper he was to get him the hat and a special desert. We waited another 20 minutes for our meal, received no birthday recognition whatsoever ever. We travelled to do this celebration and it was a huge flop. It was extremely loud and noisy and staff were extremely unhelpful with the exception of the young man that did try to serve us but his own section was crowded as well. Ribs were dry. Definitely not going back there nor would I recommend this establishment.

I visited montana's on the Canada day long weekend and it was the worst decision. We were asked for drink orders turns out they only had one of the item available. How did they not know that they were running low on a bottle of beer? It was time for food orders. We were provided with the regular menu and a Mexican menu. After 4 attempts at ordering a meal that was unavailable finally got something that was available. Being so hungry and after a 2 hour wait I had a bite and it was fridge cold meat that tasted like chicken strips from Walmart. Throughout this process Peter the manager got involved as we were not happy at all with the lack of menu options. Like what is the point of providing the menu when 3/4 items are unavailable. Peter was not very helpful to start as we asked him what was actually available to eat. He was also informed of the food being cold. Instead of checking he just insisted that it wasn't cold. I decided to tell him to touch it because I was not eating that meal and not happy with his inital response. The waiter Jake was okay and tried to do his job despite our upset with the whole evening. He even tried to offer a discount due to the experience and it being my birthday. Doesn't look like Peter was really on board with that though. The reason they get 2 stars instead of one is they did recognize all of the issues and discounted our bill 20% in the end. I hope they get their act together but I won't be returning anytime soon. Clearly not ready.

I took a day trip on my motorcycle to Jasper and stopped in here for lunch. The place was decent enough, but their cook really needs to learn how to cook a steak! I ordered my steak medium well and ended up with a steak that was between blue rare and rare, but I was hungry so I just ate it anyways cus i didn't feel like waiting even longer cus it took a while as it was to get my food. The fries and beans were good, and the drinks, but the steak ruined it for me......especially since it's not cheap.

Absolutely no direction on if it was seat yourself or not. Hosted was completely clueless and air headed. Finally was seated. They were out off everything we actually wanted. The chipotle burger had absolutely so spice in it. Very disappointed. Complained and got a discount on the burger. Waiter Jake was nice and always checking on us. Very disappointed in the host and the kitchen.

Worse experience! We were a party of 13 and they couldn’t accommodate us because they told us that their whole staff were in training - this doesn’t make sense at all. If there were 5 families of 4... would they be turned down too? I don’t think so... very disappointed and will be bringing this up to Montana’s Corporate HQ so they are aware of the service we received in Jasper. We ended up going to L&W restaurant across the street!! EXCELLENT SERVICE AND FOOD! It’s a family owned business so I’m happy we went there to support their business.
