Good Academic School. Small, so student teacher interaction is very good. Also a good school for research. You cannot judge its quality based on ranking only.

Excellent student/academic atmosphere! Focused hard on research, the engineering and environmental impacts from this university are outstanding! Student facilities including labs, fittness centers, dining facilities, and learning environments are proven top tier. I would highly recommend looking into clarkson.edu for additional information. Don't forget, Army and Air Force ROTC programs are always looking for cadets and offering competitive scholarships.

For a University that actually teaches military classes, it's not Veteran friendly at all. You have to research your military benefits yourself. After the admissions nightmare, you get to experience professors that spew socialist dogma endlessly. This is where w privilege is taught and reinforced.

This school has a serious issue with drug usage on campus. Administration/ Campus Security has neither made nor is making a noticeable effort to counter the issue.

Degree Received: B.A. Mechanical Engineering with conc. in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering ‘21 Overview: Unfortunately, the college seems more concerned about the hockey team and facilities than providing a top-notch education and quality laboratories. I transferred into Clarkson expecting big things but was very disappointed overall, especially considering the price to attend. Shouldn’t a “top” engineering school have top laboratories and classes for students? They had the money for new landscaping and a costly hockey arena revamp but apparently not the mechanical engineering lab equipment that is 30+ years old, inaccurate, and nearly inoperable. See my photos for the condition one of the ‘CAMP Center’ computer labs. It was really fun trying to run ANSYS sims on the school computers while crossing my fingers, hoping computer would not crash the program due to limited processing power. Education: Some really great professors like Kevin Fite but some horrific (who will remained unnamed). They should really put more emphasis industry applicable education or examples to supplement the theoretics. For example, it’s hard to understand or care about solving partial differential equations when we never see them in a context related to anything industry related or tangible. Even showing physical models in fluid mechanics etc. that were related to real-world use, in class would have been great. Understandably, the curriculum is limited in its scope due to compliance with ABET Accreditation. For example, we received very little education on GD&T which is HUGEEE for industrial/design related engineering and subsequent manufacture. Luckily, they have a decent machine, welding, and fabrication shop that you can access as an extracurricular which I loved! I took the “MT” classes which covered intro to manual endmill, lathe, mig, stick, and tig welding, Mastercam, and CNC endmill and lathe. Social Environment: Though a limited selection, they have mostly great professors! The students are down to earth and are easy to work with. Plenty of opportunity for clubs, SPEED Teams, ROTC and Greek life. I was in the scuba club, flight club, rocketry club etc. which were all great. Surrounding Area: Unfortunately, the town has died off in the last 10-15 years. Many vacant store fronts on main street which is sad to see. The weather is also brutal considering it is 30-40 minutes from Canada. Cost/Value: Absurd. The value and education provided relative to the cost made my time at Clarkson simply not worth the money.

Academically, Clarkson is a pretty great school. There are certain professors to avoid, of course, but that's no different than most other colleges. For the most part, it's pretty easy to get help when you need it, and the classes are informative and actually fairly interesting usually. The only really big problem here is the food. It is awful, there's no other way of putting it. If you aren't eating only salads and fruit for every meal, it's almost guaranteed that you'll be on the verge of vomiting at least once a day. Undercooked calzones, overcooked burgers, and other issues abound. Not to mention any alternatives are hideously overpriced, and meal plan is mandatory if you do not live in an apartment, townhouse, or off campus.

Job placement advertising is very fake. They do not have a very high job placement. The school is very expensive considering where it is. There are infinite better options than this school.

Very good, everyone wore masks. Women hockey team did a great job. Very happy to be back at a live game. Looking forward to the men's game vs SLU Sat.

Horrible and traumatic. Asbestos in the residential buildings, mold everywhere, this year we had a mouse in our Riverside apartment. Get off meal plan if you’re able to because the food is disgusting. Professors are hit or miss- I’m a psychology major and love all of my professors but I’ve taken some horrible calc, anthropology, and physics classes and have heard a multitude of people express not being cared about by their professors (most of the professors’ main focus is their research, not their students). Reslife won’t respond to your emails unless you follow up a million times and trying to get a reliable tutor if you’re not an engineer is near impossible. Last semester, it took them 6 weeks to find me a tutor. This semester was even longer. Getting accommodations is anticlimactic- I had a concussion last year and got testing accommodations, but they expected me to remember to schedule each of my exams through the accommodations office. This was extremely frustrating as I was severely concussed and having difficulty remembering to the point where I had to drop down to taking only one class, and they couldn’t provide any further assistance to me. Many of my peers have dropped out, transferred, or tried to kill themselves because of their experience at Clarkson. Save your time, money, and physical and mental health by not going.

My son graduated from Clarkson in May 2017. I sent him to Clarkson all the way from India, for undergrad in Computer Science. We are grateful to Clarkson for being there for him every time he had a challenge! Their attitude was always 'how can we help you help yourself'. He learnt lot more than academics at Clarkson. His experience there was a blessing! He is back in Clarkson to get his Master's Degree in Data Analytics. Proud of my son. Grateful for his wonderful experience at Clarkson University!
