Business Technology Management bridges the often large gap between Business and Information Technology. Ryerson University is the first University in Canada to offer this program, and it is conveniently located right in the downtown core of Toronto with access to the Eaton Centre and possible Co-op opportunities on Bay St etc. What you learn from this program is invaluable and perfect for anyone pursuing Business or IT.

As a guest to an event here while the school year was done, the school was easy to navigate. A mix of dated areas and modern areas. I was in the common area of Kerr Hall. The room was full of light, large and big. It was just hard to hear each other in there. Not good for sound acoustics. Food Which was made at the school was delicious (veggies, potatoes, rice, chicken, tofu and salmon) and of great quality.

Slightly biased because I'm an alumni... Originally RPI so that really dates me ???? I've moved back downtown and lived in the area since 2003... Devo pond and the rock is a fixture as they have since made this pedestrian only open space even better. Not quite as nice as the other big university's pedestrian walk but decent given the smaller footprint. One of the few urban open spaces we have in the core of the city

As a first year Urban Sustainability student at Ryerson I have definitely made the appropriate choice. This unique program divides the environment and urban sustainability portion of the curriculum with faculty of arts programs, which creates diversity as we have so many avenues available for classes and choice of minors. With only a hand-full of programs world-wide focusing on Urban Sustainability, Ryerson has done a great job of selecting profs who are also upper-league in their research and development of this sector.

Ryerson University has given me a mixture of hands-on learning and theory, and has provided me with the skill set to enter the workforce confident in my ability to succeed. I am thrilled to be attending an institution with such a reputable staff and encouraging environment.

I haven’t been a student here but I’ve always been fascinated by this structure. I saw the monumental stone kind of thing they’ve maintained it clean. Usually you find people sitting outside here hanging out eating something. It’s nice and safe however at times there can be weird people around.

This is a great university to study and be who you want to be. There are lots of great restaurants and entertainment nearby. If you want to shop, the Eaton Centre is nearby in Dundas Square.

I find many of the services and parts of the university pretty good. Had a really horrible experience with my accessibility needs but that’s slowly on the up and up. Many parts of the website are confusing including that the test centre only has its address in the most mundane place ever. The student centre is really cool inside though!

Ryerson is a fantastic university! The location is incredible and in reality the walk in between classes is not that far as all buildings surround Dundas Square. The students attending Ryerson University are down to earth and friendly, as well as the professors. Other staff at Ryerson are always willing to answer questions or direct you to the appropriate department fast and efficiently. In all honesty, Ryerson feels like a second home whether or not one is even living on campus. Ryerson is selective in their acceptance of students into various programs and the quality of education gained from this experience is like no other. Furthermore, Ryerson keeps in contact with post-graduates in which current students may be sent to conduct co-operative education.

I just got off the phone with ryersons admissions office, and Dianne was the friendly operator helping me out. She patiently went through an extensive list of criterias and requirements needed for my admissions. She also went over the administration processes and painted a very clear picture for me. I am so grateful to have come across an absoluteltly amazing staff member!

A great place to see up-and-coming downtown. I just finished a day-long conference and it reminded me of all Ryerson has to offer and what an asset it is to downtown revitalization. The Food Security Centre sponsored the conference, an example of an organization that was at least ten years ahead of its time when it was founded by Ryerson faculty decades ago. Their dietitian program is also way out in front. Both are examples of what I argue in my book Food for City Building -- how a place that knows how to use food as a lever can work with food to meet a wide variety of goals. That's even true for the cafe Balzac, which, unlike Tim's or Starbucks, shows the place has a little taste and a little appreciation for another up-and-comer, a Canadian company no less. The walk around the quadrangle is lovely, especially in the spring at blossom time. The gay sculptures around the quadrangle and on Victoria are also quite the statement from the era when they were commissioned. I must admit that it gives me a lump in the throat to see all the multicultural students there who are making their way here, a real testimony to Toronto's efforts at multiculturalism and inclusion.

Ryerson is truly a great institution, with amazing staff and students. I am proud to call myself a Ryerson Student!

Whoever called university students indoctrinated left-libs must be a Trump supporter who lives in Crackton. (I say the same things about religious nuts, who are brainwashed, uneducated, low-information hicks who are stuck in the 1950s). I can speak only about Ryerson's journalism program. Although it favors attractive rich kids with connections galore, the program itself is comprehensive and its courses complement one another. I learned quite a bit from my liberal studies curriculum, and I developed critical thinking skills that continue to be honed in mid-late adulthood. As for my core studies, however, I felt out of place. My profs counseled me to quit the program because I lacked necessary social skills. I was bullied in small town Ontario and at my last college, so whatever social skills I had were either lost or never properly developed. A little compassion was necessary, I thought. Although I was not the best student journalist, I did well in my compulsory courses. I don't work in the communications industry. However, I have an edge over many of my hicktown high school peers: while they read the Toronto Sun, I can understand The New York Times. Their precious Fox and Friends gives me an ice cream headache; I'd rather watch a good documentary or Newshour on PBS. And I don't like simple solutions to complex problems.

This review is solely based on as a visitor to the downtown campus of Ryerson University. Actually, the building are scattered from the Jarvis street through Bay Street. They have their management school on top of the Eaton center. Since downtown Toronto is already a very busy crowded place, so, I didn't find any large outdoor fields. But this campus is located at the heart of the city, so it definitely drives some values. I would definitely recommend this place.

Ryerson University (colloquially referred to as Ryerson, RyeU or RU) is a public research university located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The university's core campus is situated within the Garden District, although it also operates facilities elsewhere in downtown Toronto. The university operates seven academic divisions/faculties, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Communication and Design, the Faculty of Community Services, the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Science, and the Ted Rogers School of Management. Many of these faculties are further organized into smaller departments and schools. The university also provides continuing education services through the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education. The institution was established in 1948 as the Ryerson Institute of Technology, named after Egerton Ryerson. In 1964, the institution was reorganized under provincial legislation, and renamed the Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. The university was reorganized into full-fleged university in 1993, and renamed the Ryerson Polytechnic University. In 2002, several years after the university's school of graduate studies was established, the university adopted its current name, Ryerson University. The university is a co-educational institution, with approximately 44,400 undergraduates and 2,950 graduate students enrolled there during the 2019–20 academic year. A number of individuals have graduated from the institution, with Ryerson having nearly 170,000 alumni as of 2017. The university's athletics department operates several varsity teams that play as the Ryerson Rams, competing in the Ontario University Athletics conference of U Sports. The university's academic year functions on a three-term system, fall, winter, and spring/summer. The university is organized into seven faculties, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Communication and Design, the Faculty of Community Services, the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Science, and the Ted Rogers School of Management; the latter academic division serving as the university's business school. The Faculty of Law is the newest academic faculty formed at the university, having taken its first cohort of students in September 2020. Most faculties are further organized into smaller departments and schools. The Faculty of Arts is made up of ten humanities and social science departments. The Faculty of Communication and Design is an academic division made up of nine schools focused on media, design, and creative industries; including the RTA School of Media. The Faculty of Science is composed of four departments. Graduate programs are coordinated by the Yeates School of Graduate Studies. Ryerson University also jointly administers several academic programs with other post-secondary institutions based in the region, such as Sheridan College, and York University. Continuing education at Ryerson is managed by the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education; which offered over 400 courses as of February 2021. The university's has 909 full-time faculty members during the 2019–20 academic year. In the same year, the university had an enrolment of 28,800 full-time undergraduate students, and 2,600 full-time graduate students. In the 2019–20 academic year, the university also saw 5,951 people enrol in a G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education course; more than half of which were degree-credit course. In 2018, the university conferred 7,199 bachelor's degrees, 1,084 master's degrees, and 75 doctoral degrees. More than a quarter of the bachelor's degrees awarded that year were conferred to students in business and commerce programs. The majority of master's and doctoral degrees conferred by the university in 2018 were to students in engineering or social science-related programs. The graduation rate for students that entered the university in 2011 is 74.2 per cent.

Urban campus right in downtown Toronto. Well regarded university with a strong tech focus. Good industry connections and lots of opportunity for international exchanges (both staff and students) . Not as "oldy worldy" as the older and arguably more prestigious University of Toronto - which pretty much has its own suburb in town For those who are familiar with Australian Unis the Ryerson - Uni Of Toronto comparison is very similar to RMIT - Uni of Melbourne or UTS - University of Sydney situation

Makaila Wenezenki

The majority of its buildings are in the blocks northeast of the Yonge–Dundas Square in Toronto's Garden District. Ryerson's business school, Ted Rogers School of Management, is on the southwest end of the Yonge–Dundas Square, located on Bay Street, slightly north of Toronto's Financial District and is attached to the Toronto Eaton Centre. The university has expanded substantially in recent years with new buildings such as the Mattamy Athletic Centre, in the historical Maple Leaf Gardens arena, former home of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

To quote community, "it's a toilet but it's my toilet" Business student, it's a decent University despite what UT people will say, it's really crap in a lot of things (mostly campus repairs related) but I think the fact we used to be a college actually helps a lot in my program since we learn to get a lot of hands on experience with programs/tools in our industry which usually results in RYE grads actually being able to do a good job at their first career after graduating since not everything we learn is totally theoretical.

Transferred out of this school after first year bcomm. The professors in the accounting department are horrible. You basically study on your own but at the end of the day i still managed to decent gpa (almost A ^_^). If you want quality education run away from Ryerson. I'm only speaking for its Ted Rogers school. If you want an easy business school- doing questions on exams that are straight from textbook then ryersons bcomm is for you.

Writing an honest review since Larry Page/Sergey Brin/Sundar have given me a voice on the Google platform. Going to Ryerson is probably not a good idea as the major systemic issue (other than the horrible campus layout) within most Toronto postsecondary institutions is that there is no effort from the staff employed at the institution to prepare their students for success in their lives. Most of them just read their slides every single and look forward to the course ending just as much as the students do. Its sad that the world is really becoming a heartless place where even instructors don't want to see their students succeed or "be better than them". I could go on about this for hours really, but most I'm going to leave it there for today. TLDR: If you have a job/field that you're already working in, and would like to further advance in that field, continuing your education at Ryerson is a good idea in most cases. Find a job before choosing your program that you can manage and like at least a bit to earn a stable income and then choose a program that gives you the qualifications to be hired in that role.

Great school. Cost benefit ratio is low. You get similar value of education to other 'snob' schools......I learned way more here than most my colleagues who supposed graduated from ivy league schools. It's a hands on practical knowledge uni where graduates come out ACTUALLY knowing something about what they studied. I loved this school. It was exactly the kind of post secondary education I was looking for. plus, less than 4 years after graduation, I making 6 digits.

But most importantly, dear ryerson, why! Why WOULD YOU PUT RAMMS ON MAINTENANCE AT 12AM. WHY DON'T YOU SET IT TO 4AM OR STH?! WHY?!

Ryerson is the only university that recognizes talent beyond the classroom! All the other business schools in Toronto take in full time students and mostly out highschool. Ryerson's part-time undergraduate program gives the flexibility that budding entrepreneurs can use to develop their skill and connections and an excellent health insurance program to boot! i would not recommend the part time program to full time worker with a 9-5 job monday to friday but for the rest of us business people Ryerson works an is a step above the rest in many regards...

After moving across the country from British Columbia to Toronto, Ryerson University provided an environment that was welcoming and homey. Large enough to have many opportunities to meet new people everyday, but small enough to feel connected to everyone, including teachers, as part of the Ramily. Most teachers know you by your first name, and care about the education and success of students in the classroom and as individuals. I am still a student here, but Ryerson makes me excited for what I will be learning during my next two years here! I feel like the level of education here will provide me with the knowledge and hands-on experience in my field of study to be successful later in life.

They have a midwifery program at Ryerson. I hired a midwife ( Kensington Midwives) who graduated this program with honors. She neglected me during labor and my baby was severely brain damaged and died in my arms at the hospital 13 days of age in September 2016. My baby girl was in perfect health, full term and so beautiful :(((( So this midwife said in her official response to the College of Midwives that my baby died due to brain and other organ injuries, not because there had been an absence of a fetal heart rate, leading to death.” College of Midwives also is “concerned“ that the midwife “appears to misunderstand basic physiology and has failed to connect the perinatal events with baby’s death”. What kind of education is that?? If this midwife graduated with honors and has no medical knowledge whatsoever, what to expect from regular graduates, who graduated without honors? The best part: this midwife is still allowed to practice since it was “just” one dead baby.

Great school! I'm in my 3rd year now double majoring in Entrepreneurship and Marketing. I really like the environment that the university is situated in. In addition, the professors at Ryerson really do bring real life experiences from their field into the classroom setting. Student group engagement is also very strong at Ryerson University. I've been part of numerous student clubs under the Ted Rogers School of Management and have had an opportunity to learn new skill sets. I've traveled in and out of Canada for conferences/competitions because of Ryerson University.

This school does not care about their students. They are just left wing loony bins who care only about the money lining their pockets. I attended one course here, the other courses I enrolled in were cancelled without a reason, consistently, every time I enrolled term after term. DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL. You'll be wasting your precious time and money. The faculty couldn't care less about you.

I was a Student intern at The Scope a summer and a half ago to do my field placement for my program, and I have to say that the internship program at Ryerson is AMAZING!!!! They let you do all kinds of things like creating commercials, PSA’s or Promo’s for the station which is something I’ve had experience with in my program so it was nice that I got to do that. Also, I really enjoyed recording an episode for Ryerson’s Disability Podcast show called “The Access Files”, it was a lot of fun. ☺️???? And last but certainly not least, I love how the people there make you feel like you belong. Everyone at the radio station is so nice and kind and I would definitely recommend anyone who has to do their field placement to do it with Ryerson as you do learn a lot and you get hands on experience too.

Trevor T

This is an amazing institute for higher learning located down town in the 6. As one of the newer University's in Canada Ryerson has really put in work (over the past ten years) and made some incredible progress. A number of new buildings have been added to the campus including the Ted Rogers School of Business located on Bay Street. I have to say I am such a huge fan of Ryerson's appreciation for restoring historic buildings in the downtown core which they have done on several occasions. After buying the epic Sam the Record Man building Ryerson reconstructed the space into a stunning student lounge and library addition. Also note that they took careful consideration to relocate the original Sam the Record Man sign to Yonge and Dundas Square where it lights up every night in 6 ????

An institution that is built to take advantage of immigrants and young people that are idealistic and don't know any better. Gained absolutely nothing by going to Rye High, and I would argue that the high school system is better because you don't pay 100's of dollars for a useless document, and the instructors care just 0.015% more about you as an individual and their student's success. There is little to no communication initiated to allow a teacher-student relationship - the typical excuse of "I'm too busy and other B.S" is given., In fact ,they seem to get AGITATED when you ask them questions because you actually want to learn!!! They all know the game they're playing to abuse the trust given to them by their paying customers. It's truly disgraceful that these people call themselves educators but don't attempt AT ALL to prepare their students for success in the future. We, "the people" need to redefine what it means to be an educational institution by putting the SUCCESS of our students over maintaining each instructor's 200k + salary. I do not want to mention names but I will say the Ryerson school of Health Services Management should be ashamed of the unengaging programs they run that are full of contempt towards students. They operate based on fear and intimidation by propagating that students should already "know" the content of their courses so that they don't need to actually teach their students anything. There is no continuity or connectivity between any of their courses, and how students can use their education to build successful careers.

BB Rocks

This rating is for the campus itself. The physical part and the social part that its design fosters. If you're visiting Toronto and find yourself near the Eaton Centre, walk one block over and explore this urban campus. You'll find Ryerson is unique integrated into the city's downtown. It includes pedestrian only streets, cafés serving fresh food grown on the university's roof, an artificial pond in the summer that gets Zamboni'd in the winter, some decent modern architecture that visitors are invited to explore, and occasional events such as farmer's markets. Most of the campus is open to the public.

Do NOT come to Ryerson if you are a part-time student working full time. You will NOT get to choose the lectures you need and best professors. You are at the bottom of the food chain and get leftover or nothing. Do NOT come to Ryerson if you are a full time student. Go to U of T, York U, or colleges. They are all better options than Ryerson. (in terms of quality of education and student life) Come to Ryerson if you have a rich dad and finding a job is not your concern; or you have plenty of time to do few more years of college to get a job; or if you want to broaden your life experience and get to know how bad an university can be - then Ryerson will be the one.

Akash Sharma

Ryerson has definitely been growing and expanding along with its students. In the past few years I have seen two buildings get started and are now being used for student space. In my final year of my program (BComm), and I can proudly say I've had so many great memories here. Took the accounting program here. A lot of professors are subpar and just read powerpoint slides and cannot explain things in detail because they clearly did not review the materials themselves. I ended up skipping the majority of classes of any professors like this because the lectures were useless and my 3 hours could be spent much more effectively. I ended up graduating with honours but it felt like half my classes had unmotivated professors who did nothing to contribute to your learning. Next, when I was attending school there was no career guidance system set up and pretty much 0 support for helping you find employment. All we had in the accounting program was the Big4 recruiters who only recruit a handful of people from our program of hundreds. There were no medium/small accounting firm recruiters, no industry recruiters, and no government recruiters coming to the school making post graduation job hunting very bleak. The online job site Ryerson launched is full of sales job with very little jobs related to your degree. All in all, I got my degree here but the school did not help open much doors. It's still a relatively new University so I hope that can change in the future. If you're looking for an good Accounting program I would highly suggest looking elsewhere. It's impossibly hard to land an accounting career job in Toronto without an excellent recruitment program. There are many accounting grads from U of T that are still struggling to find work in the area. Many have finished their first designation exam and still have to get their masters to be competitive. Your odds of getting an accounting designation tracked job before they do with just a Ryerons degree will be challenging. Just a fair warning if you decide to come here for accounting.

I'm currently attending Ryerson's "prestigious" film program. So far it's been a huge disappointment, and it baffles me that people hold this school's film program to such a high regard. Ryerson turned into a university in the 70s from being a polytechnic college. Quite ambitious, but it worked out well for many of its programs. A majority, probably. But, for film, we're left with a program that feels like a weekend crash course stretched out over four years. As an academic program, it's an insult to education. As a technical, hands-on program, it's a joke. If you want a scholastic education in cinema, go to U of T or York; if you want career-prep, go to Seneca or Humber. Ryerson's program is a compromise between the two, and it feels almost like they tried to somehow integrate academia into what was otherwise a fine college course in order to justify the degree. In doing so, however, they've managed to maul the technical and practical aspects of the curriculum. I'm in second year, and in a whole semester of visual studies we've only learned how to move and transform objects in After Effects. We're just starting FCPX, and the only thing about lighting that we've learned is how to turn them on. If you have money and time to waste, sure, Ryerson might be a great option. If you want a job or an education, stay clear of this institution and disregard all of the hype associated with it, because that's all it is.

Ryerson University is an institution faced with extremely limited space. As the world is constantly challenged by managing finite resources, Ryerson's innovative thinking and planning has resulted in an authentic university experience within down town Toronto. The chief city planner of Chicago, Daniel Burnham, states "make no little plans. They have no magic to stir the blood and probably will not be realized. Make big plans. Aim high in hope and work." This ideology reflects Ryerson's ambitions as the Master Plan intends to create a campus that is more than just about getting from point A to point B. By hosting local farmer's markets, a variety of food trucks, an effective student union, and a myriad of entertainment on the minuscule campus, Ryerson has truly fostered a unique identity within one of the most culturally diverse parts of the world.
