You have the opinions of people who consume the services of Douglas College New Westminster Campus (University) in Delta (Canada).
To this day the firm receives a score of 3.9 stars over 5 and that rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that its rating is really positive, and it's founded on a very high number of reviews, so we may conclude that the assessment is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to give their feddback when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to place scores when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This University corresponds to the category of College.
this college is the best
It is a good college. i gave it a 5 cus i think its under rated on google reviews.Only problem i hav is that the fees that douglas college charges to international students is alot more than some of the other colleges of its class (langara and the ones in ontario) but then again the courses offered in douglas college are more diverse than any other college that I know of.
Honestly I don't get the bad rap Douglas gets. I took classes in the sciences and social sciences before transferring to uvic and I'm extremely grateful to have gone to college as well as university, it's a totally different learning experience and you benefit a lot from smaller class sizes. The psychology department in particular is extremely well staffed, big ups to Doctors Marshall, Meen, Jackson and Prime for their exemplary teaching abilities and passion for what they do.
Nice College!
Terrible teaching methods. Julie Crothers is a horrible prof. You will not succeed in her classes.
It has an amazing interior design and a magnificent staircase when you walk in. Its only a little for students to come Richmond to here, but other than that it has a lot of facilities for students to use.
Douglas is a terrible employer..one that rewards sheer incompetence and ineptitude and dishonours hard work and initiative. Don't believe me? The instances of this amongst staff and faculty, and contract employees are legion. If you are hard-working, talented, efficient, and creative, look elsewhere for employment. All of these traits are not things Douglas values amongst its employees. Your toil won't be worth a squat here. But if you are lazy, stupid, and incompetent, by all means...APPLY TODAY! If you have substance dependence, even better! Douglas might be ok for the students, but behind the scenes its rotten to the core.
Deserves 0 stars!!!! Would NOT recommend this college. They just take your money and screw you over. Going here was the biggest mistake of my life. Now I have to pay for it. Your better off going to UBC or SFU. Do not go here!!!
Nice place
I did a guest lecture here; the campus is much bigger than I expected.
Awesome place to work and learn. Highly recommended.
A morning librarian ( never asked name ) bit old guy with short hairs is my favorite . he always advice students to be careful with what we borrow so if we lost in case then we would not be under debt
This college has good teachers but needs more funding, especially with their nursing program. Additionally they must change the manner in which they accept people because its basically first come, first serve as long as you have a C+ average. In order to ensure that hard working and dedicated students enter the program you must make pay more attention to grades and volunteer hours. My major complaint about this school is that the academic advisers know absolutely nothing. They are supposed to provide information and help the students get to where they need to be. However, many give contradicting or false information. One academic adviser told me that I would not be able to take the courses I needed to complete my prerequisites for nursing in the summer because I was not in a certain category of students called "academic foundations for pr-nursing students"." I asked her if I could get overrides since I have heard of other students doing so. However she was adamant that I would not be able to and that Professors never do that. Additionally she talked down to me. Although in the end I was able to complete those courses in the summer and did what she told me was impossible. I often left the academic adviser's office feeling discouraged and confused.
Sir, waiting for May Intake Admission , when will you Start taking applications , Pls respond .....
University level college with a four year degree of business administration
Worst customer service ever. They act like they can talk down on you when you're simply just asking for more detailed information about a certain program. Thank god I'm not planning to go here anymore. Won't recommend.
Cozy environment, love it
Maybe I will come next year cause it is easier to transfer to UBC ~ I don't know yet~ I will see....
This college is the best place of all.
Can anyone tell me how is psychology faculty?
Too many international students and you might not feel like it's a Canadian college. However the college offers a variety of services. If you are serious about your future, you will be able to get a lot.
Love this college, this is where I study. Thank you to Luke from the Global exchange program for helping me to explain the details.
A lot of hate posting in the comments. People have to realize that unless you go into trades, a handfull of professors are going to bee left borderline far left. I'm in my 3rd year at Douglas for bachelor's of physical education and have never had a problem so far. Courses are cheap and transferable if I choose so. One semester of 15 credits is around $1200. The community environment can be quite nice to. The degree is designed to set you up nicely for PDP at SFU to get your Bachelor's in education.
No Tim’s ice coffee. Enough said.
Great place for post secondary education
i dont know what everyone else is talking about. i had an amazing time and everything was taught well.
The layout is simple, making classes easy to find. Also, the security is helpful and the DSU is a go to for all students. The college is in a convenient location and close to many food options. I do wish that the Tim Hortons was open longer!
Wife too a course there , just a certificate course. Either way the instructor was awful. Majority of the students informed both the instructor and college that the course was not as expected and that they feel the should be refunded ... the college didn't care.
I took english course there before I transferred to SFU. Important stepping stone.
I love the profs, loving the new psych BA program, all around amazing school woth great staff
Awesome and beautiful
Very good college
Theys toght me to reeds good!
Good location and really nice daycare option
Loved it. Amazing. A perfect blend of different types of culture and people.
For a college it's a really good place to go, they definitely reach out to the students and the facilities are great. Only minor problem is that they need more top instructors with higher ratings.
Great place to start your future.
The college is amazing and looks very interesting to look for into for my first year
I am planning to study there!
I went to Douglas College as part of worldstrides and I was amazed to see how welcome we were. The campus was extremely clean and well kept. And the auditorium was beautiful. A #1 visit on my vacation.
I love Douglas! i am so happy with my choice. It is an outstanding college: small classes, great professors and staff, good variety of programs.
Great professors. They only hire professors with work experience in the field and who have a master's degree and above.
I would recommend this college to every student , best place to learn and explore your self , you get to know and meet people with different cultures and countries and the college staff is always happy to help. DSU app is a great thing to get help with stuff and Student services are best , many more things . love being a part of it
Not exactly the best college. When I came to Douglas College I started my program at the CCSD certificate program and was accused of plagiarism by the program head because I got my Dad to proofread my paper. Worst part is the science courses here. Literally had quizzes almost every week and then on certain weeks we had lab quiz and then a midterm the week after that. Worst part was when the bio final exam was at the start of the final season and on that same week my lab final was 2 days after that. They push you way too hard if they give you that much homework every and expect perfection out of you. Never going back after that dreadful experience.
After a while it became dreadful. The professors are mostly quite good but the higher ups are the one that didn't work at all. As a kid who was travelling from Richmond the ride became unhealthy and miserable. The office attendants are rude and lazy. Won't be coming back to Douglas or Vancouver anytime soon. Lousy city.
Yeah got it
I'm International Student in Douglas. But i hate Douglas College
Awful learning experience
Great place to learn.
The Douglas College's International Department is terrible! they give the wrong information and they do not care about students at all. Classes are not flexible. However, there are some great instructors, the facilities are high-tech and all is usually being updated.
Quite popular place to get educated
I spent a few years here, and I wish I could stay as a student forever. But everyone has to leave at some point...
This college is in my vision board ????????????
A lot of stairs but friendly staff good food. Came here for summer camps
Had a really bad experience with registration staff and international students department. Lack of communication and common sense.
My college and I love it
Such friendly people on this beautiful campus! Love the fountain!
Nice place to study.
Seems to be in a quiet neighborhood. Getting there is a bit of walk from the train station since it's uphill.
Nothing is perfect. The academic experience you got is what you should have put efforts in. After two years studying in Douglas I learned how to speak English and how to use it to study. It's a good place to start for me since I'm taking it seriously, but sometimes I still have to say: instructor is really crucial to student's marks.. Depends on your program, better check ratemyprof or ask your friends first... Most instructors are patient and knowledgable though.. Finally transfer to UBC and hope Douglas will go further and enhance its diversity more..
Great infrastructure and standard of the college
Great experience. Took me 3 years, from 2016 to 2019, to complete my BA. A lot of hard work but also help and guidence from the faculty members. Most of the professors were extremely helpful and approachable at the end of the lectures and via emails. In my 2nd to last semester, I applied and got in into a BC Govt position. The application took 8 months overall. Having the practical experience in research and criminal justice system from the practicum course, definitely helped.
Overall my experience here was amazing. If only they would offer more bachelor programs I would stay longer. Would recommend to come here, I have heard from many different friends their feedback from other colleges and according to that I would say Douglas college (among postsecondary institutions - excluding UBC) is the best when it comes to campus life which I believe it is very important as well. Yes some teachers are not professional and rude, but in general out of 17 different professors I've had only 2 or 3 felt into that category, the rest were very good at explaining and also supportive and encouraging. The only down side is the uphill that after 2 years and half was still not able to get used to it.
Awesome school and cheaper than others!
One of the worst schools for international students. The support staff from both international and registrar offices just pass the puck around and don't care for help students in anway.
Why registration manager is so handsome? Definitely visit again.
As an international student I'm not fully happy with the college. The teachers have great attitude that's makes the difference!!
Very helpful staff, overall good teachers and campus is clean and has a nice open feel to it.
Great school!
Maybe I will come next year cause it is easier to transfer to UBC ~ I don't know yet~ I will see....
The IT service here is the worst. The program I am in is very disorganized. Going somewhere else to get better internet and better education since the profs in this program are very disorganized. Not saying which one and which program it’s confidential. Oh I forgot to mention one more thing, the cafe at Douglas doesn’t have that much selection with food. Not impressed. Oh, and they also got rid of the fish bowl and they used to let people print out 300 pages back then now it’s 10 and they charge you too which is absolute bogus. Ever since they renovated the library half of the computers don’t work. Bring back the fish bowl and bring back the old rule when it comes printing out pages PLEASE! It’s not our fault the system was hacked. Douglas college as I remember it was better now it went down hill.
Douglas is where i go to cry so its s good spot
Hi! Anyone's doing or has done the hearing instrument practitioners program? How are the faculties and facilities? Would you recommend? Thanks a lot!
Nothing but good things to say about by experience in a degree program at Douglas College.
No student Support During COVID-19.
nyc collage for ever
(Translated) From 1998 to 2001, I studied EASL and Art Degree Program at Douglas College, where I met many students and teachers from different countries, and every one of them is very good. I miss it! I also met a female classmate there, from Taiwan. Next time I have the opportunity to go back to Vancouver for a vacation, I will stop by Douglas College for a walk????????
Absolutely love it. The instructors are very kind and open-minded.
Tried to get information on enrolment. Useless admissions. Unwilling to even respond back. I emailed the same question 3 times in seperate occasions with no response ! People don't have time to waste. You shouldn't waste it.
It is.a.college for.strong and dedicate students. The majority of instructors is good, however they could be more polite and respectful with students. International department inspire trustful and they are very flexible. They may improve their facilities to reach the Coquitlam campus quality. If you enjoy some compus activities to share good experiences, there are many positions as volunteer there. Try to reach carrear center and DCI for more opportunities.
I am originally from Ontario and have previous attended Fanshawe College in London. I got an Associates Degree in Political Science (Arts) from Douglas In terms of academic programs the quality of education I have received at Douglas is on par with most universities and is far in advanced of most colleges especially back East. The instructors were very helpful, very small class sizes of usually 30-35 students or less. While the over all education is great and it got me into a great University (with 95% full transfer credit) which I would not be able to do on my highschool marks alone. The only negatives were the facilities while the campus is nice and in a great urban setting right next to the sky train and in downtown new west. -Small library (Though you have full access to UBC and SFU libraries which are relatively close by transit & they can send books over in 1-2 days) -Hard time getting a computer sometimes (5-10 minute wait) in the library -Registrars office limited drop in hours and a lot of miss information from the clerks at the front desk. -Occasionally have to take a course at David Lam campus in Coquitlam (50 mins via skytrain and bus soon to be a direct skytrain by 2016 est 25 mins) Other positives not mentioned: -Free (small) gym -access to new west station -Acess to prime university libraries -Direct transfer to SFU with a slightly lower gpa -Direct transfer to all BC universites including Uvic and UBC as well as potential direct transfer to all universities in the country (all but one course transferred to Concordia in Montreal) Overall 8.5/10 I would highly recomend this college to people who are serious about university.
Good one
Just finished at Douglas College and I really enjoyed my time there. For the most part, teachers and staff are very approachable and interested in helping you. There is a welcoming atmosphere that's less intimidating than going to a bigger institution. I met a lot of people who had gone to SFU but preferred to go to Douglas to take their electives because it's easier and more student friendly. I was very unsure about where to go to school or why, and I recommend Douglas for anyone else who's in the same boat. The New Westminster campus isn't as nice as the Coquitlam campus but it has some history and there's a nice relaxed vibe.
A community college with offering many business major studies. It also have English as Second Language program for second language student (for both local and international). Faculty quality are ok. Employees attitude is just ok. Underground parking lot is available. Parking is not free. Two big campuses are located at New Westminster and Coquitlam. Overall, it depends on what you want to be after that. From my personal experience, I don't have any suggestions about this school.
Great professors, and great ESL programs that helped many new immigrants to quickly adopt a new environment!
My experience was horrible. The instructors are very mean and unapproachable, very few are exceptions to be fair. If you're taking English 355 with an Instructor named Kathy, you'll see what I mean by MEAN. So I immediately transferred to another better institution than Douglas.
the school is horrific I have degrees and an A average the studentd who won outstanding students bullied me right me constantly in front of the teacher. nothing was done. the bullies were maggie fung. akuna.Noelle. Sarah when I complained I was threatened by my teachers and failed out when i
It's a very huge college, ambience is very good. Facts - ✓200m away from new Westminster sky train ✓ Library books can be issued only by student ID ✓ cafeteria - ahhh !! Always full
(Translated) Thank you Lena for your good dynamic lessons! (Original) Merci Lena pour tes bons cours bien dynamique!
Lovely
Nice
Very friendly during every semester but Summer! Summer semester has a ton of international students and they don’t make the effort to make friends. But during other months they do make an effort. Really nice campus! Tons of stairs! Even to get to the campus you have to climb! The cafeteria is great! Has way more food that at Coquitlam!! The classrooms are nice, but the best are the new on s downstairs on the first floor on the south side!! This campus is a bit more noisy than at Coquitlam. This campus’s library is also a bit more noisy. The atmosphere is good for studying!! But can be distracting. But upstairs is great for studying!! New West has tons of computers!!
Transformative Experience! - BBA Financial Services
Wasting time and money.
I don't think so it is good college anymore-because classes are overly filled with international (Indian)students and just making money from them. Not place for domestic students anymore. Education level going down because they cheat in exams lot and stigma on Douglas college. Many domestic students now joining other college and universities because of reputation. It is not any more Douglas College. It is kind of India College.
Douglas College is so great! This campus is amazing and honestly pretty huge! I usually attend the David Lam campus so it took some getting used to when I attended classes in New West. I would give 5 stars but the only thing I don’t like about this campus is the stairs. My classes are on the 4th floor and every morning I walk up the hill to the school and then take staircase after staircase while lugging around my overly heavy bag. I eventually found the elevators on the first floor but it took me a whole semester to figure out where they were (you’ve got to go through a lot of hallways to get there, it feels like a maze!) Despite the stairs I love that there is a pizza pizza on the first floor!
Best educational institution i ever attended.
Any info at all? Smh.
I emailed them twice inquiring about classes and they spelled my first name wrong each time. I emailed back the second time just to see if it was a typo. Nope, and my name is even a part of my email address. Go somewhere they bother to spell your name correctly.
The kids indoor soccer program during the spring break was fun for my boys and very reasonable for the price. Lots of running and practice.

Great learning environment. Small classes. Engaging instructors. Low enough tuition you won't go bankrupt getting your BBA. :)
Good college everything is good. However, the only weakness is the way to the college is uphill and there are lot of stairs in order to get to the classroom. So if you go to college by walking you are going to be pretty tired.
Douglas college is one of the top reputed college in whole Canada. For international students the fees structure is affordable and the education is really good over here. Best place to study and make friends
Waste of time and money.
No place is perfect, and what you get from Douglas is up to you. Douglas is much more affordable than higher institutions and is a good choice if you are starting out or unsure what you want to specialize in. Check reviews for professors ahead of time when it is registration season - I have had both my best and worst teachers here. Some reviews complain about the amount of foreign students, but I thought it was really cool having such a multicultural class. If nothing else you can laugh as the prof hesitates to pronounce names during roll call. Campus amenities are lacking. If you want food your choices are Tim Hortons, White Spot, and 'dude who makes stir fry'. If you complain about tuition costs, you had better be brown bagging your lunch.
Good staff. Made me remember my college days.
This school has a lot of courses being offered, always busy bustling from morning to night time. My friend went to this school and he was promoted as a result, He took software designer and he was actually working for the school board right now. A lot of good instructors are teaching here according to my friend. He recommends this place very highly.
Vibrant with life, now that activities have resumed on campus. I really like studying there, most teachers are awesome, campus is huge, bright and collegie, it inspires you to learn.
Terrible school.
I’m feeling left out. No student support during a pandemic. I need academic advising since registration starts next week, and the woman who was helping me just stopped answering my emails out of the blue(a week ago). They created a zoom classroom but no one shows up on this. Phone? Of course they don’t pick up the phone. What else should I do? No idea!
Attended here 10 years ago. In addition to semesters at SFU & BCIT. Looking back, courses I took here I recall significantly better than courses I took at SFU or BCIT. Can't explain why. Altogether my favourite times as a student were here.
As an international student of Douglas college, One can realize how welcoming this college is. Be it academic , international advising or just fun activities, this college has it all.
Went for the first time to the college to see friends daughter in a play. Nice facilities.
Transferred to uvic in 2013. All the professors are still working at the same department. Small class size, knowledgeable instructor and accessible location. After working in Vancouver for a few years, I am thankful for what Douglas has offered me.
This really is a good College. I am a student here and find that for the most part there is a ton of help resources to help students get through their degrees. All of the security and custodial staff are friendly as well. I would suggest anyone take classes at Douglas if their desired degree is applicable.
Rude behavior of the teachers very rude, no help, it was sooo stressful time during my study due to poor pattern of the syllabus which is set by my teachers, teachers give no review before exam, simply said that you have to learn all book, which is really hard for everyone to remember all book, during this pandemic time it's very tough for us to learn online, and teachers makes it worse more, they just give assignments and give you marks that's it, during my course I submitted my all assignments on proper time not even miss single one ,all worksheets and I passed my labs also but my teacher set all the course on the basis of quizzes, in this quizzes you have to complete 30 questions in 4 or 5 minutes , which was very stressful, every time when that quizzes was started I was feel toooo much anxiety and due to that stressful situation I lost my marks, and I fail the course with the difference of just 3 percent.
A Great experience! Seek out professor Tanya Haye of communications. I've never met a better teacher who made a bigger difference and real effort. She is wise and kind and will help you to succeed. Even online classes, which can be challenging àre a joy. Definitely recommend, going back for more myself.
Graduated and I can say that this is a good college.
Hey can somebody tell me that how is this college for International Students? I am planning to take COMPUTER AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS(PBD) course there.
Everything is great in the college from instructors to infrastructure. (WiFi in library and some other places being exception). I would definitely recommend this college to others. It's better than any other college around. There are variety of people u get to know. And Douglas feels like home to me.(always relaxed to sit either in concourse fishbowl or cafeteria)
Fantastic, attention
Vancouver
They just waste your time.
I don't suggest international students come here, especially you are new to Canada
Bad staff. I visited this collage to ask about the programs for international students, but the staff in the international students office was worse. They were not helpful at all. I don't recommend anybody to study in this collage.
Hope to process application fast
It's an education. There are better schools, but the tuition is generally higher. If you speak Mandarin, you will fit in just fine here.
STILL DON'T KNOW IF THE COLLEGE START REGULAR; BUT IS A EXCELLENT EDUCATIONAL CENTRE.
Wonderful place to learn
Love the small class sizes here, they really allow you to get a more personalized learning experience and really connect with your instructors and get help when you need it. It's also really good if you're transitioning from highschool, too! The campus location is so convenient as well, and the people are so nice!
This is awful place to get a diploma or degree. First of all, they accept everyone, even people who can't speak English. Just making money. I've had many term project teams, when some of my teammates could not say a word in English. As a result, almost all term project I made by myself, otherwise I'd fail our team project. The finniest thing, when I told instructors about it, they've just said: "Oh, c'mon you're Canadian, it's easier for you", so what? Finally, all of us got equal mark... so stupid. Cafeteria is awful, it's better go to Subway opposite the street, because cheaper. $4 for a slice of pizza, really? You can go to Timho on campus, but be ready stay in line like 10-15 minutes. They don't have enough computers in the library, it is almost impossible to print papers out! Finally, I've seen how one of the instructors, just checked student's bag without any permission. After graduating, I spent like 4 months to find a job... Bad college, instructors, and their diploma has no value!
Programs are great but sadly the college have lots of UN-qualified staff that makes processes, student services and some lectures to be very unclear and time consuming.
Hy, can somebody tell me how is this college for international students as i am planning to be there for my IBM diploma.
I had a worst experience today. I am fourth semester student , not a dumb but the guy who is assistant in international office with black and brown curly hairs( don't know his name ) insulted me very badly. I went to book an appointment with academic adviser but just five minutes before the sign in.when i asked them he gave all slips to the students that were before me.i was like... no prblm...okayy... but then everyone wrote their names and reason to meet and he pointed me that why are you not specific , why you tick on other option..the reason behind it last time i had other questions along course planning questions and assistant told me to tick at other option.but this guy just argue me at this point why you choose other option not a course planning option, but i am not misleading anyone..."is it very serious issue to argue for or being insulted. He treated me so badly and loudly there was huge line of boys and girls who were staring and laughing at me.. and i was feeling very embarrassed at that moment. We are paying large amounts of money to not being insulted but treated nicely. I complaint against him , he should treat us nicely and politely.... he spoil my day. We r not here to treat like this.
Douglas College is a top notch college with A plus, knowledgeable, personable instructors. My experience at Douglas has been a positive, life changing one.
The gym is gorgeous
Awesome collge... one of my friend is there and i will also join him in this may intake....m s excited yeah and anybody who filled project managemnt diploma plz comment.
Great college!
The staff and office administration was very straight forward with my paper work for my funding. I suggest to take one course a term because it is a heavy workload. Douglas College, has been good to me.
I am international student and I am totally unhappy with my choice of this college. International office which supposed to help in fact totally useless and rude (except academic adviser). Registration process is super unfair and I believe they do not give preferences to the students with good academic standing because my GPA is 4.22 and I still have to wait! And there are only few instructors that are really willing to give knowledge. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COLLEGE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS and personally thinking to transfer somewhere else.
It is so beutifulll And nice ❤❤
A disappointing waste of time.
Is it worth it to study Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in Douglas College?
Had good experience with study and environment here. Would always wanted to go back to this school for further academic training. International academic advisors are helpful, yet the front desk needs to be more professional and helpful cuz normally the lineup is long and the staff takes long time to find out answers to questions.
they dont teach anything importamt the best u can get from this college is a 15$ an hour pay job look it up... its a scam
I love my college ❤️❤️❤️
Teacher's are extremely rude and condescending towards students. I have had teachers that will make fun of you're answers and make rude comments towards you if you try you're hardest and think you are doing good think again all the teachers I have had all have favorites if you are not a favorite YOU WILL NOT DO WELL PERIOD. I was in class once and a student goes up to the teacher and says "can I have an extension" the teacher says why the student says "I did not want to do the work" teacher says "okay and I just got my wisdom teeth taken out and told the teacher a week in advance and said I was going to get them removed and could not do the assignment for communication and the teacher says " THAT DOES NOT MATTER YOU WILL GET A ZERO ON IT AND FAIL THE ASSIGNMENT" very rude staff stay away there have been many other stories staff think they are better than you they patrol the halls like no tomorrow I was finding my class and a teacher comes out red in the face and yells "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I said " finding my class" the teacher says " UGHHH YOU DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE TO GO HOW DID YOU GET INTO THIS SCHOOL" then mumbles stuff and walks away.
