(Translated) I have feelings at Brook University. In July 2006, my daughter graduated from the Chinese University to the university to obtain a master's degree in accounting. Her teaching is rigorous and she worked hard. After graduating a year later, she got a master's degree and went to Toronto to find a job and work hard. Finally, the immigration was successful. He has become a full-time accountant and has been promoted to the company's accounting director. Several of their Brook classmates also worked very hard. They all worked in Toronto for immigration, and a friend loved to study accounting. They also studied accounting at a better school in Canada, and finally went to a distant university to be an accounting professor. It shows that the quality of education at Brook University is good, and graduates can integrate into society.

If you ever look up the ratings for Brock University in terms of its standings among all universities in Ontario, it will always come up in the middle of the rankings. This university certainly isn't the University of Toronto, but it isn't like Collège La Cabriole. Its honestly a hybrid between the two in terms of quality. First, let's start with the positives; + This university specializes in biomanufacturing, health care, environmental and social sciences programs. Everything else is practically a "pass" degree that you get just for the sake of having a degree to get into another graduate school and/or have an actual degree to list on your CV. + The university is medium-sized, which makes it easy to get around campus, and it has plenty of places to hang out and study. I'd personally recommend the tower levels of the library as they offer a variety of private and small-group spaces. Another benefit is that you can also go anywhere in Brock (except for East Academic and residences) by staying inside, which is a huge benefit during the winter and rainy days. + Extracurricular programs are decent and more of a place to meet and socialize with like-minded people. If you already have friends on campus or from classes, however, I wouldn't recommend them. + The gym and swimming pool are not top-grade, yet they still offer a lot for you to do and enjoy. I personally use it every other day and then afterwards go into the mini-saunas they have in the locker room. Now, we go on to the negatives of this university; - As I said earlier, unless you're getting a degree in biomanufacturing, health care, environmental or social sciences, don't expect a top-notch education. Every other degree aside from these four areas of study is just a pass degree for the sake of having a degree. All other programs are standard "copy notes from pre-made slide-show, study said notes, and complete other standard assignments on time" programs. I would know since I'm a Film Studies major, and I'm only using the degree to get into Sheridan and get some ACTUAL film industry experience/connections. - The food and textbooks are incredibly expensive for what they offer, and you don't even need half your textbooks (as long as you're not in any of the four main courses I mentioned) to pass your classes. Only get textbooks that you actually need to pass your assignments and you're good. - School spirit and the "student body" is a joke. Again, most people are only there just to get a "pass" degree, so they don't put much effort into actually promoting school spirit. But hey, as long as the university has something to put as an update on their social media accounts... In conclusion, if you're planning on going to Brock for biomanufacturing, health care, environmental or social sciences (or just a simple "pass" degree for the sake of having one), you picked the right place. If not, then PLEASE look elsewhere!

Brock University is a public research university in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. It is the only university in Canada in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve,[6] at the centre of Canada's Niagara Peninsula on the Niagara Escarpment. The university bears the name of Maj.-General Sir Isaac Brock, who was responsible for defending Upper Canada against the United States during the War of 1812.

I enjoyed my 4 1/2 years as an undergraduate student at Brock. St. Catharines itself might be a little run down, but it's a university town so students (and the services to accommodate them) are everywhere. Quick drive to Hamilton, Toronto, and Niagara Falls so great potential for weekend trips. The school itself: I've always been partial to campus universities as opposed to downtown. The Brock campus is modern, easy to maneuver (a walk across campus won't take more than half an hour, and can be done entirely indoors- an asset in winter!), with beautiful forests and wetlands nearby. The library is huge, organized by floor (super easy to find what you're looking for), and private study rooms are available. There is also a 24 hr study area, which is invaluable if, like me, you do your best thinking at 3 a.m. I felt that the vast majority of my professors were great, totally approachable and clearly passionate about their subjects. They very clearly care about their students, not only in regards to academic performance but personal well-being too. I felt I received a well-rounded, quality education here. The mandatory seminars can get a bit annoying (attendance is required, the readings can be demanding)...but I felt that they are an advantage if you actually want to learn the material. It's one thing to glaze over readings for lectures, because the information will be repeated, but the pressure of seminar participation encourages you to actually retain what you're reading and think critically about it. Lastly, if you're interested in getting some international exposure, Brock offers a life-changing exchange program. I was lucky enough to spend a semester in Sweden through Brock's exchange program. The International Services Office helps you establish yourself in your host country every step of the way. Upon my return, I was so impressed with the exchange program that I began to volunteer and network with the International Services Office. This experience changed me forever in the best way possible, and encouraged me to move on to grad school in Norway. All in all, I'm proud to be alumni and will forever look back fondly on my time at Brock University. 10/10.

Malik Nadeem

A very good smaller university. The campus is great, the professors (at least in my department, Computer Science), were excellent, and best of all, because it's not a huge school, the professors are accessible to the students, and have for the most part a good relationship with their classes, and provide a sense of belonging. A lot has changed at Brock since I was there (class of 1988), and the campus in general, but especially the options for student housing, have grown immensely. But from what I'm seeing currently, the overall atmosphere of accessibility to teaching staff, smaller class sizes and hands-on education are still alive and well at Brock.

Brock University is a public research university in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. It is the only university in Canada in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, at the centre of Canada's Niagara Peninsula on the Niagara Escarpment. The university bears the name of Maj.-General Sir Isaac Brock, who was responsible for defending Upper Canada against the United States during the War of 1812. Brock offers a wide range of programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including professional degrees. Brock was ranked third among Canadian universities in the undergraduate category for research publication output and impact indicators in 2008 (the most recent ranking completed). Brock University is the only school in Canada and internationally to offer the MICA (Mathematics Integrated with Computing and Applications) program. Brock University's Department of Health Sciences offers the only undergraduate degree in Public Health in Canada. At the graduate level, Brock offers 49 programs, including nine PhD programs. Brock's co-op program is Canada's fifth-largest, and the third largest in Ontario as of 2011. Graduates enjoy one of the highest employment rates of all Ontario universities at 97.2 percent. Brock has 12 Canada Research Chairs and nine faculty members who have received the 3M Teaching Fellowship Award, the only national award that recognizes teaching excellence and educational leadership. In 1963 the Brock University Founders' Committee, chaired by Arthur Schmon, offered Dr. James A. Gibson the invitation to become the founding president. Brock University was established by the passage of the Brock University Act by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in 1964. When the university first opened in September 1964, classes were held at the St. Paul Street United Church in downtown St. Catharines for 13 weeks until the Glenridge Campus was completely renovated. Brock's Glenridge campus was officially opened on October 19, 1964 with Gibson as the university's founding president. In 1996 Brock University honoured Gibson by naming the university library in his honour. Richard L. Hearn was appointed the university's inaugural chancellor in 1967. Brock University is named after Major-General Sir Isaac Brock, who commanded the British and Canadian forces during the War of 1812. Although the British and Canadian forces went on to win, Brock lost his life during the Battle of Queenston Heights in 1812, fought 20 km (12 mi) from the present-day site of the campus. His last words are said to have been Surgite! (Latin for "push on") — now used as the university's motto. For his contribution to Canada, Brock was voted the 28th Greatest Canadian in a 2004 poll, conducted by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Gervan Fearon became the school's president on August 1, 2017. The university's current chancellor is actress Shirley Cheechoo. Brock University also maintains a campus in the city of Hamilton, Ontario. The primary user of this facility is the Faculty of Education, specifically the Teacher Education Department and Graduate Studies in Education and Continuing Education. The Hamilton Campus was officially opened November 2, 2000. It is a campus with computer labs, an Instructional Resource Centre / Library, gymnasium, large classrooms, full and part-time faculty office space, food services, conference facilities, a board room, and green spaces within the courtyards and surrounding lawns of the campus. The current Hamilton Campus is set to close and move to a new location in the Hamilton area in Spring 2021. The new location has yet to be announced.

Actually hate it. Been here 3 years and can't wait to leave. I went to Carleton for my first year and loved the atmosphere, academics, clubs, sports, facilities, etc. Transferred to Brock and lost literally all of that. Nothing for students who live off campus, facilities that aren't maintained and have terrible hours, half the time I can barely get a computer in the library let alone a plug for my laptop. Its a hit and miss with professors, some who read off slides and take no interest in their students at all. The guidance counselors are terrible - only once have I ever had one who helped me and he was a sub for my usual counselor. My advice is really to go somewhere else!

So I've seen a lot of very positive reviews here on Brock and a lot of very negative ones as well. Your best bet is to come to Open House and see if maybe you can just drop in to a lecture to see what it is like. I know I had some awesome classes in Geography, English, Drama and Philosophy. My son did very well with the Computer Science and Mathematics Departments. I can't really say what courses may be like in other subjects. What does concern me, though, is how Brock wants to expand their property on Lockhart Drive threatening an eco-sensitive area just below the Escarpment, that Brock wants to sell off a beautiful gem of a historical building, Rodman Hall, for private use, and that some students become disrespectful hooligans in residential areas on St.Paddy's Day. I'll try, however, to remember what was so inspiring at Brock (i.e. Michael Hornyansky's English lectures, Geography field trips to Muskoka and Pittsburgh, Niagara Peninsula Historical Conferences, Maurice Yacowar's selection of films, etc, etc.).

Terrible school. I slid through with the boys on move in day hoping to rip some pong and bump a bit of 21 Savage before these dumb classes started. I was flabbergasted to find out it was a dry campus and 21 Savage was frowned upon by the school. I was highly disappointed cause me and the boys are all certified beauties and I was really looking forward to downing some bruskys and potentially trapping lowkey. Not even sure what to do with my funnel now. I need to switch schools.

I had so many issues with my legal name carelessly being changed by Brock’s staff. This caused the incorrect name to be printed on my transcript - my OCT teaching certificate was delayed two months because of that and I missed so many career opportunities. Brock’s system changed my home address and my degrees was about to be sent to the wrong address- the staff needs to be changed because people have paid SO much for their education and for receiving their degree to the CORRECT address. I don’t know how a huge University can make ALL these mistakes.

I'm going to say that Brock University is the one of the worst university I have ever attended. First, the number of classes become smaller as the year progressed and students are harder to register for that course. As a result, they have to ask for an override or if not then, they have to wait until next semester or the year after to register for that course. Second, the website quality is poor, and students have difficult time locating the information on the website. It is not user-friendly, and for example something simple like exam schedule is hard to find. Third, there is an inconsistency in the quality of professor. Many professors seem to read slides off from the powerpoint, and do not explain what is happening. Some cannot even speak English well and still became professor. Comprehending the language is a crucial part in the learning environment, because students would not understand what the professor says and often result in misunderstanding. The seminar ran by TAs can be often frustrating. For example, I had one TA who was always late for 10 to 20 minutes, and sometimes he never came. TAs seem to forget that they are in a professional role and standards role of quality must be met. In addition, many academic advisers are inexperienced and helpless. For example, you register for one course because they told him so and later realizes that it was an unnecessary course to take and often it can be a hard course which will result in the person's failure to meet the academic achievement. Moreover, it is of course, the student's duty to keep up with the minimum average required however the department abruptly changes the required average with no notification which makes students difficult to stay with the program. There is no period of notification so be prepared for yourself for sudden change in the required average. This is something more personal, but the learning atmosphere at Brock is very different depending on what program you are in. The business department is very study-oriented whereas other programs are party-like and a student may not be able to focus. So, choose the program very carefully or you might end up following your friends and go to St.Catharines downtown every weekend to drink which will result in failure of academic performance. The school facility is very bad in appearance, and so if you are kind of a student who wishes to go to school with a great facility, Brock is not where you should go. The undergraduate program I would recommend to go for is Accounting, Concurrent Education, and Nursing. Anything else, it is better off if you just attend the other school. Also before you are going into university, think whether you want to go for Masters or Ph.D. Then, you should choose a major which would help you to get into Masters. You can also use Brock as a way to transfer to the other school. People say when you are in 3rd year or 4th year, it is better off to graduate, and I do not believe that. If you think that it is necessary to switch the school because you did not like the learning environment, then do it.

Amazing school, great class sizes, some of the best residences in Ontario, a beautiful campus. The faculty is top notch & you well get a very good education. In the end you get from university what you put into to it. If you are not willing to work hard you will have issues. The Business Program, Teaching & Health Sciences are all very good. If you are looking for a good school, with good teachers in a safe community then Brock is a great choice. It a close knit campus, where people feel a sense of belonging and community. Brock is a mid-level Ontario school, to compare it to Western, Queens or U of T (St.George Campus) would be unfair. To compare Brock to McMaster, Waterloo, any other U of T campus or York is fair and in most comparisons of teaching/class size, academics & community, Brock will come out ahead. There is a reason why it has been the fastest growing school in Ontario over the last 50 years.

I attended a conference here during the summer months. The campus was small and easy to navigate. The rooms worked for our conference sessions but they were a little outdated in terms of the furniture and decorations. I stayed at the Arnie Lowenberger Residence which was very low-frills and not all that comfortable. The room was a little dark and the bed quite uncomfortable. To Future High School Grads and all international Students: If you are thinking to attend Brock University (especially if you want to do Accounting or Business Administration), THINK AGAIN, and please read the rest as I am a 4th year Bachelor of Accounting student at Brock who is about to graduate. Firstly, I will rate Brock University -5 starts if that is an option. To start, quality of education is extremely poor generally throughout all business programs. Lots of Lecturers just read off power point slides, and some of the accounting professors who actually possess CPA designation do not even understand basic accounting principles. To name a few notorious professors at Brock: 1. Omar Rubi, accounting professor whose teaching skill is so poor that most of students' prof review for him is "he force me to teach myself since he doesn't teach". 2. Alexey N. Nikitkov, a Russian Professor teaches Accounting Information System. How would you rate a professor if he is absent for half of the semester (no exaggeration, not even a little) because he was sick for 1 month and his daughter was sick for another month? FYI, basic accounting information system refers to basic accounting software such as Sage 50 and Quickbooks. I was a college student (at Mohawk, very good school) before I came to Brock, and we used to have A FULL SEMESTER worth of course load dedicated in learning how to use Sage 50 in respect to processing daily transaction. At Brock, you spent 200 dollars to buy the textbook, and guess what? You teach yourself. Norman Chasse, CPA designation holder, Accounting Professor specialized in auditing. TBH, his teaching was good compare to other prof @ Brock; however, refuse to admit own mistake, and fail to understand very basic accounting principle. e.g., change in depreciation method is not change in policy, I hope Mr. Chasse can read this and never tell students that change in dep method is change in policy. Secondly, advisers and course registration. It is unfortunate that I had attended 3 post-secondary schools over the years, and needless to say, Brock's advisers just do not want to help you. Some of the students @ Brock may be prioritized in terms of registration for a course solely based on how much they are going to pay Brock in the future. For instance, if you have ever applied for post-grad study at Brock , you will likely be the first one to pick a course REGARDLESS whether you actually go for graduate study or not, and this means paying $200 for application of graduate study will let you register for course first, and lots of others who do not pay that amount are screwed because spaces for lots of accounting courses are extremely limited. Last but not least, giving the fact that Brock is among the lowest ranking on Mclean's Unveristy list EVERY SINGLE YEAR, I personally have no clue how the adminitrators at Brock justify charging students higher than schools like University of Toronto. Rotman of Business (UT's business school) charge first year student taking full time couses $ 7,708.35 vs Goodman of Business (Brock) charge $8,453.50 FYI, the only reason I attend Brock is because they gave me the highest transfer credits allowing to graduate faster, and that is the only upside I can think of. In conclusion, avoid Brock at all cost, it is just not worth it. A poor student at Brock

Brock University is a great place to be a student with supportive professors and staff. This is a can't miss university for students in Ontario.

Better signage to direct you to the people that tell you where to park. Signs could be use to direct you to the gymnasium for the covid vaccine shots

Great school! The facilities aren't bad at all. The parking may not be great when it gets really busy, and the construction that is going on right now is making the school a mess, appearance-wise, but it's a good school.

My university experience was amazing, I wouldn't have been the person I am today without the professors, school and social experience. If I had the choice to do it all over again, I would. Take advantage of the opportunities if you go to Brock.

Tiny training facility. When I passed by it the first time I thought it was a small joke or that I was only seeing 1/10th of what was available but no I was wrong. There's a line up for every machine, and you will even get turned away from entering the facility. Physical activity isn't even an after thought with Brock, it's a slap in the face for students paying tuition.

Never anywhere to study, if you come to campus to study you will be walking around for a good 30 minutes looking for somewhere to go. The library is ten floors with two elevators which are usually jammed so you find yourself walking up flights of stairs to get there. There is never any classrooms to go into, to do group work and booking a room for group work you might as well start booking in September for the end of March. There is one microwave on the whole campus tucked away in a little corner. Wifi drops 75% of the time which is great when you are trying to work on assignments. You are taking a gamble with professors. Some are great, others just read off of the power point. When offering exam reviews and asking for help some professors will stand there and say "it is in the powerpoint, read it, if you don't understand it read it again". This is the only University on this side of Toronto that offered my program which is the only reason why I am here. I wouldn't recommend this school to my worst enemy. Absolutely terrible. I am quite nervous about putting this school on my resume to be honest.

I had applied for the MBA ISP program. Paid application fees of 140$. Even after meeting all the minimum requirements I wasn't even allowed to give my kira interview. My application was straight away rejected within a few days. If your admission seats are full then please close the application window. Don't gobble up applicants hard earned money through application fees. Highly disappointed. I really thought this college was good. Such looters.

The university is easily accessible via St. Catharine's transit bus services. The place is really peaceful and serene. There are Tim Horton's and McDonald's right across the street which operates 24x7. People are courteous and helpful. Looking forward for 2 good years here.

I love this place. Mathematics department is not so good(The faculty is not very helpful). But luckily I didn't have to work with them a lot. Otherwise, I love my Computer Science professors and the rest of the University is amazing. Going to Brock was the best decision of my life.Didn't want to leave this place. You can't ignore the fact that it's right next to Niagra Falls and Niagra Enscarpment. Hard to get that with any other university in the world. I would go for lunch to Niagra falls or for an after exam party, or just to chill on a summer day after my morning summer class. Best memories of my life.

From a local's perspective, the students usually just cause disruption. Campus offers no free parking, which is frustrating particularly for students as it's basically the only place in the entire city which charges for parking. The pool and gyms contribute to the resources offered to the wider community. However Brock does contribute to local development projects, and the staff on campus is friendly and helpful.

Nick Goncharow

The best place to get your university education in the entire world ????

One of the fast growing and expanding universities in Ontario. Education is their best as well as top faculty in Canada. Athletic Therapy is a booming profession of Brick University too. Come pay they a visit and soak yourself in this friendly and academic college atmosphere.

I graduated from physical geography back in 2015. I'm now back in college for further schooling and am having such a bad experience at Durham college I decided I owed it to Brock to write a good review since Durham's getting 1 star. I loved Brock's campus while I was there. The school is well laid out once you figure it out and all the hiking trails around it are great. Also pond hockey in the winter. All the geography teachers were awesome. Not one did I dislike. They were all very professional and actually cared how students performed in their classes. Shout out to Daryl dagesse, Marilyn jolineau, John Menzies, Tony Shaw. All great teachers to name a few. I would highly recommend this school or at least it's geography/earth science program. Great school all in all.

Daniel Nardone

Beautiful campus situated on the niagara escarpment and surrounded by the Bruce Trail. Brock is known for it's excellence as a teachers institution.

John Rocker

A great institution with a great faculty. The small class sizes, friendly professors, and a great location make Brock University an ideal school for everyone.

Brock University is a public research university in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. It is the only university in Canada in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, at the centre of Canada's Niagara Peninsula. Great programs and excellent academics.

MBA program is so tough and you will be asked to leave if you get more than 2 C grades and they won't tell you this in your offer letter or anywhere until you came to join here in Canada.
