Chatham University's Eden Hall Campus is a place where Pittsburgh's past meets the best possibilities for our region’s present and future. This campus is a living learning lab, with the use of old historic buildings and new more energy efficient ones, research is being done in the woodland, and in the actively gardened fields and hoop houses, while students are learning to use and be better stewards of the land. The campus is the perfect setting for the students studying the complexities of sustainability to get the experiential learning in systems thinking, leadership, transition management, and stakeholder engagement that the Eden Hall faculty provides with its many community partners, who give the students the opportunity to develop and implement iterations of solutions. Local residents use the many walking paths and trials on campus, and even stop in the campus café to eat, where much of the produce the students grew is cooked and served. Having worked eight years between my under graduate degree and entering the MBA/MSUS program here, I can say I definitely made the right choice for my education and future career goals in working across sectors to address community needs and work towards a more just and sustainable future.

Watch out for their NASTY shuttle drivers tailgating, speeding, weaving in and out of traffic without signaling, failing to stop for stop signs, not using turn signals, and more. When confronted about the issue, select members of the University (Heather Black, Assistant Dean of Students) refused to acknowledge the NASTINESS of the shuttle driver by repeatedly ignoring requests for comment and action. For a trashy college that has a virtual Bible of safety information on its website, it is certainly fascinating that its politically-correct nonsense doesn't align with actuality. The leaders at Chatham University are cowards, plain and simple. The school is non-inclusive, offers zero valuable information that one couldn't look up for free on the Internet or visit a library to learn, and certainly isn't "sustainable" (another buzz word.) Avoid this disgusting excuse for a school at all costs. Go somewhere relevant.

The administrators and individuals in charge of Eden Hall need a reality check and a wake-up call. This campus is utterly and totally fake, unsustainable, a marketing tool, and full of hypocrites. Eden Hall Farm is a beautiful place and unfortunately a lot of the individuals that run it, make it an ugly and disappointing place. A solid education and the needs and desires of students are second to maintaining and fabricating a lie that keeps incompetent individuals employed. A sustainable campus does not outsource and pay another company to compost, blatantly lie about the amount of produce being used to feed students, encourage elitism, or subcontract and rent out the facility to the highest bidder due to ambiguous financial problems. If you are a serious, environmentally conscious, forward thinking and progressive student, stay FAR away from this place because you will be highly disappointed and leave in a great deal of unnecessary debt.
