Here you will be able to see all the feddbacks of people like you who are purchasing the products and services of Simon Fraser University (University) in the area of Barkerville (Canada).
At present this business gets a score of 4.1 stars out of 5 and that score has been calculated on 127 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is high, and it's based on a very large number of reviews, so we can think that the rating is quite faithful. If people have bothered to value when they are satisfied with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to write evaluations when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This University corresponds to the category of University.
Simon Fraser University is a gorgeous place in Vancouver. From that top point of the Burnaby mountain you will have a perfect panoramic view of downtown Vancouver. The fog that often invades this campus makes it a scenic point to take picture, especially when it let you see the top of the downtown Vancouver skyscrapers coming out of it. Symbolizing the richness of Canada's environment with the forest surrounding it, you'll maybe even get the chance to observe some of the bears that have chosen this place to live around.
Campus is full of places to eat. A bit too crowded in the beginning of terms, but gets better as students start to skip classes. You also have good chances of meeting raccoons here.
Nice drive view, although i imagine it would be hard to get up there in winter time... University is under construction itself during summer. I dislike most the parkade, it is dark and tight, other outside parkings are a mess..
1) Good school, great location 2) Mid-size University 3) Well connected via public transit 4) You will get a nice view of Vancouver downtown from the campus
For Academics, is Low/Cheap Education, but TOP DOLLAR! Why would so many kids go this place? Seriously I don’t get it? If you wanna find girls or party, go somewhere else. This whole place, is a SHAM!!! Last time I received email saying PLEASE DO A Survey from SFU admission, the email clearly said ALL PARTICIPANT will be given BookStore Gift Card that worth $10. Once I finish nothing was given, I reached the school and they say, “ Oh is selective, we only give gift cards to selected winners.....” Although it is a minor conflict, but this seriously reflects the culture of this place, that is SYSTEMATICALLY DECEIVING students ( customers ). PLEASE, 1 HONEST SINCERE ADVICE to all of you whom may or may not graduated, DO NOT GO THIS PLACE, is a RIP OFF and LOOPHOLE!
Really?! Construction right ahead of classroom?! How are we supposed to learn in those condition.
It's beautiful
This is in regards to the social science departments: I had an amazing time here. When I completed my bachelors 4 years ago, it marked the end of a progressive era as well. Now the neoliberal conservative agenda has taken hold, which is a shame if people knew about SFU's progressive and kickass history. Progressive professors have been pushed out for more conservative ones and the history taught is highly Eurocentric. So beware of the changing politics of the school. Not only in Polisci and social sciences, but also in other fields and departments. Its a changed school for sure.
The online response to Covid-19 is a disaster. Quality of education is now abismal.
Pretty kool place but was just here doing some paving work for them
Best views ????
they offered me actuarial science one year ago. and I thought it was great. this is the best major ever. then i payed the enrolment fee which is 750$. then i met the advisor. he said i still need to take 4 more courses to get into that major and also you need to compete with other students. then i asked them to return my fees. i do not want to go to this school. they said we cant. what a shitty university. Now im in UBC. much better than SFU.
Amazing university and lots of a stairs for you to climb everyday!
These guys won't stop calling you for money after you're already drowning in debt from student loans. Bruh, I'm broke. I should be getting donations from you.
The library is fantastic. *travellers* You can access the computer even if your not registered at the uni. Check out the coffee shop right in front of the library. First time I find a book on inus modern art. Thanks knowledge!
Really depressing in the winter. But great view from the top of the mountain. Good university overall to go too.
Great Campus. Really liked it
Great Beedie School of Business, best business school in BC.
I like the dinning hall
(Translated) first Facilities are good but still under construction I also sell Korean food It feels slower that the system isn't working slowly, but preparing it faster than we do. The second Students are crowded because they are in the semester. I have a lot of thoughts that I want to study again (Original)
Excellency university
Beautiful plentiful forest with buildings if learning, what more do you want
Did both my undergrad and grad studies at SFU and my goodness the experience between the two degrees was COMPLETELY different. In my undergrad, I had lots of opportunities to get involved on campus, I was well supported by my professors, I took on several leadership roles in the community. I then came back and got my MSc and the experience was awful. Please be aware that your graduate studies experience will be highly dependent on who you choose as your supervisor. Unfortunately, my supervisor was rarely available to meet with me, and had extremely delayed replies to emails. I experienced several issues in my grad program, but fortunately for me, the grad chair of my dept basically saved me near the end of my degree. Case in point: interview your supervisor's former students before you accept their offer. They will be brutally honest and you will appreciate it.
I disagree strongly with your statements reported as independent studies
(Translated) Very good university that I could visit during the graduation of my godchild. (Original) Très bonne université que j’ai pu visiter lors de la remise de diplôme de ma filleule.
UBC Okanagan or Simon Fraser in terms of academic reputation and campus life?
Friendly people. Beautiful facility.
Good school I think.
I went to school there for a while and have visited it lots. Pretty good for a university, and it's continually improving. My only complaint is being on a mountain presents the occasional problem (weather, my car brakes breaking, etc) but I can't really fault them for that.
green, wide, nice
Because I work here!
They've got a nice campus, and it's cool that a lot of movies were shot here.
great school
Crikey
enrollment process is way too weird. Need to make a better website for sure. Also have weird protocol
Mostly everything was accessible, easy to meet my colleagues also power and internet also very accessible.
Not even done my first year here, and i absolutely hate it. I hate having to see this concrete prison everyday, nothing fun EVER happens. Fun is part of the uni experience and you will have none at SFU.
A good university with plenty of spots to study and great surrounding scenery to enjoy.
the school grounds are great with tons of great views and great students

First time doing the graduation ceremony it was the first time I did the ceremony before the pandemic happens but it makes me feel happy ???????????????????? I felt that this is an awesome time to spend some of my friends because they are so happy for us to graduate congratulations to 2019

Simon Fraser was a really great school and I'm glad that I did my bachelor's degree there. Met some great people - both faculty and friends, and the view is really on another level than any other school. A truly unique campus with it's own vibe. The bike trails were incredible and a great way to spend a summer up on the mountain.
Great view and very good place for us to hiking, park is good

The campus is awesome, and great amenities. Undergrad will be a great experience. I was here for a brief time during masters studies but rating a university based on grad studies is a little unfair because it's very dependent on your supervisor.
Simon Fraser University (SFU) is a public research university in British Columbia, Canada, with three campuses: Burnaby (main campus), Surrey, and Vancouver. The 170-hectare (420-acre) main Burnaby campus on Burnaby Mountain, located 20 kilometres (12 mi) from downtown Vancouver, was established in 1965 and comprises more than 30,000 students and approximately 950 faculty members.
Simon Fraser Universityis good.they provide better educatio.
If you live in BC you definitely know this university. This place is huge and it is on top of the hill. Transportation is not ideal. But you are going to one of the best universities in Canada.
This university looks and feels like a mountain prison colony. I feel bad for anybody that goes here and I wish you my dearest condolences.
Simon Fraser University (SFU) is a public research university in British Columbia, Canada, with three campuses: Burnaby (main campus), Surrey, and Vancouver. The 170-hectare (420-acre) main Burnaby campus on Burnaby Mountain, located 20 kilometres (12 mi) from downtown Vancouver, was established in 1965 and comprises more than 30,000 students and 160,000 alumni. The university was created in an effort to expand higher education across Canada. SFU is a member of multiple national and international higher education, including the Association of Commonwealth Universities, International Association of Universities, and Universities Canada. SFU has also partnered with other universities and agencies to operate joint research facilities such as the TRIUMF, Canada's national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics, which houses the world's largest cyclotron, and Bamfield Marine Station, a major centre for teaching and research in marine biology. Undergraduate and graduate programs at SFU operate on a year-round, three-semester schedule. Consistently ranked as Canada's top comprehensive university and named to the Times Higher Education list of 100 world universities under 50, SFU is also the first Canadian member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the world's largest college sports association. In 2015, SFU became the second Canadian university to receive accreditation from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. SFU faculty and alumni have won 43 fellowships to the Royal Society of Canada, three Rhodes Scholarships and one Pulitzer Prize. Among the list of alumni includes two former premiers of British Columbia, Gordon Campbell and Ujjal Dosanjh, owner of the Vancouver Canucks NHL team, Francesco Aquilini, Prime Minister of Lesotho, Pakalitha Mosisili, director at the Max Planck Institute, Robert Turner, and humanitarian and cancer research activist, Terry Fox. SFU's president is Joy Johnson, whose term began on September 1, 2020. Johnson succeeded Andrew Petter, who held a decade-long post as president from 2010 to 2020.[17] Johnson's term ends on September 1, 2025, after which she may choose to seek another 5-year term.[18] In 2009, SFU became the first Canadian university to be accepted into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).[19] Starting in the 2011–2012 season, SFU competed in the NCAA's Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) and has now transitioned all 19 Simon Fraser teams into the NCAA. SFU has the highest publication impact among Canadian comprehensive universities and the highest success rates per faculty member in competitions for federal research council funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).[20] In 2007, the University began offering dual and double degree programs by partnering with international universities, such as a dual computing-science degree through partnership with Zhejiang University in China and a double Bachelor of Arts degree in conjunction with Australia's Monash University. On September 9, 2015, SFU celebrated its 50th anniversary. Over its 50 years, the university educated over 130,000 graduates.
Nice school
Great campus . Awesome school
Still attending SFU, going into my third year, doing a joint major in English and Humanities. Honestly, I hated the campus at first. I really resented choosing to finish up university there (transferred from Coquitlam College and Kwantlen) but then I started working on campus and I began to have a new appreciation for the school (but perhaps that's what indoctrination will do to you, lol). I'm excited to live in residence next semester. Maybe that's the extra push to get me to give SFU a five-star review next time, haha. I still hate how restricted my major is. They advertised 150 courses and there's only, like, 25. I wish there was more variety in the courses, and I don't even feel particularly challenged in my English classes, but I do like the architecture and spending lazy days up on the Mountain. I do like the Humanities program though.
good jobyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Love the architecture & grounds.
I went here for my PDP after completing my Bachelors at UFV. The name holds up well. It is indeed grey and parking is an issue and/or expensive depending on where your classes are located.
did my undergrad here and I've had a great experience. learned a lot!
Worst university....They will always try to run agenda
hate it hate it hate it hate it hate ithate it
Got so many memories with SFU.
Truly one of the best comprehensive universities in the country. There are all sorts of myths attached to the university but its spot atop Burnaby mountain is fantastic. They've done a great job of improving the food an amenities over the years. The university is lovely in the winter, especially when the snow falls and while it's not the most modern looking campus internally and externally the school spirit and the experience as a student is fantastic. SFU's range of campuses across the lower mainland make it an excellent choice as well. The sports teams are fantastic and some teams are amongst the top in the country. Bus access to the university is great and a straight shot to downtown Vancouver. There are so many great things going for the university. There's plenty that justifies it as one of the top tier universities in the country. The University has some world-leading faculty in innovation, criminology, communications and a number of other areas. Do your research and you won't be disappointed with what you find out about SFU!
Great school, great location
tuition fee not justified & university is being used against religious propaganda
Interesting campus...
Nice, quiet and spacious...enjoyed the small sculptures. Plenty of shade.

Great clean University
Best university on planet
Not studying there but it is my dream university
I can't comment on the curriculum, professors or tuition. I spent 3 days at SFU for my son's basketball tournament. The gyms were small and courts spilled over into each other. There a no bleachers or sitting area for parents, we sat on chairs against a wall with our feet in the basketball court. Bathrooms we disgusting, grungy and smelly. Campus was old, unkept and little to no signage, it took us 20min to find a Starbucks that was 200ft away. I'm disappointed that a university of this status doesn't invest money in the upkeep, with some renovations and basic maintenance.
It's not a good university for software systems as known as software engineering. Or computer science. It's really not good for those two majors Non of bc universities are good for those majors :(
A bullying school
Wasted 5 years of my life. Do yourself a favour and go to ubc
Jst luv it frm deep of my heart))) I will be the best luckiest person in this universe if i get a opportunity to study such glorious university.. Love u SF ))))
(Translated) After browsing the expanding campus, I believe it will be more beautiful in the future. (Original) 浏览了不断扩设中的校园,相信将来会更美。
SFU campus on Burnaby mountain is very beautiful. Students are very smart and hard working here, The quality of education, however, could be much better.
I had a bit of an unusual/difficult academic situation when applying to the school, so in advance I spoke with representatives before spending 75$ to apply. I later found out the school provided me with incorrect information regarding the admission process, they weren't apologetic when I mentioned that I was given wrong information. Other people working in the department replied to my emails with very political, unhelpful, generic copy and paste responses, making it difficult to actually find someone who had any answers. Even when I did, it was communicated in a very vague and general way. Oh well.
Nice place
Cool
Top university. SFU has one of the best library in town. Computers, quiet area, meeting room etc. All I need is in the library, I can even spend the whole day here without leaving it.
Great facilities.
Great school!
It was bad, the university was not even opened, apparently I had to take a test to study at this place. Houses were decent tho.
suck school 4ever
Top notch
Great university with diversity of academic activities. However, the Surrey campus doesn’t have anything interesting like events or workshops. My main complaint is that Burnaby campus is always under constructions !!!
The campus is much better looking in the summer. In the winter it is often covered with nasty clouds. Quality of education varies greatly from department to department. In computing science SFU is quite competitive on the international level. For other fields I cannot say :)
One of the best universities in British Columbia
gr8 place m8
A university with high quality.
good , there are so many punjabi s and nice teachers ???? enjoying here love it m enrolled in bba
A charming place.
One of the best universities Canada has to offer, Great Campuses with a variety of option for ur every day student life!
Wow...fantastic development since my last visit about 15 years ago!
Awesome place to purse post secondary education. Some of the bad reviews made me chuckle. too many asians? welcome to BC dumbass. Cheap? I don't know how much you make or how rich your parents are, but 2 to 4 grands per semester is not considered to be cheap by the general population standards. 5/5 would recommend to anyone pursuing a career.
I love SFU ❤ Aside from the confusion of finding my classrooms, SFU is a great university. Thus, I wish they'd build a gondola from the skytrain to SFU.
I used to study at SFU. I am happy to visit here again in such a nice fall weather. The air is fresh and crisp. Less cars and less air pollution on the mountain. The university has changed a lot in terms of look, technology and environmental wise. Many new developments are under construction. More restaurants, shops and pubs are running up here. Students, professors, and educational staff can enjoy the university life more here. All the infrastructure, interior design and rebranding have done very well. Here can be one of the tourist attractions indeed ????
Absolutely no regard for student safety. My locker has been robbed twice, lost thousands of dollars in assets. And guess what - the gym area has NO security cameras - not even OUTSIDE of the locker room area. I do not feel safe in this school. I've filed two reports - and they've done absolutely nothing. They just say "sorry!". Absolute irresponsibility.
My wife hates me

Best service ever and great food! The guy working behind the counter literally made my day with his upbeat and positive energy. Gave me free samples of everything (I didn't even have to ask). Food itself was great, and it's hard to go wrong when you customize everything, and you've had the samples so you know you'll like it. Will definitely come back here again!
Very impressive place
What can I say? I love to visit Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby, especially on a nice sunny day during summertime. It is really worth your time to walk around and bask in the sun. The area around SFU is scenic; you can either take public transit or drive around. I tend to drive around to take in as much of the day as possible; so many places to go, only so much time. SFU is a great place.
Great place. I always go back to reminisce when I'm in town.
Alot rain. Unsubscribed.
Pretty sick library. Very nice brutalist architecture
Best University in the world, love the pros here!
(Translated) It's a beautiful university. There are many Chinese students. (Original) It's a beautiful university. 有很多中国留学生。
Beautiful campus.
very excellent school
I hate it here
Garbage "university" where they indoctrinate young women with the idea that they're oppressed, young men with the idea that they are perpetrators of oppression and bring in hoards of chinese for $$$$. Oh you're so progressive SFU, gotta wash all that guilt away from the 60's when non-whites weren't allowed to attend right?
Much better school than CDI college. Thats for sure. 5 stars
Love it here. Great academics and athletics.
It's clear that for certain positions, those in charge of judging qualifications are absolutely unqualified.
Dinning is great! Top dorm views are really good
I work here
Seems like a lovely campus. The views are pretty spectacular.
Coming this year too excited
Very beautiful at the top of the hill with all the trees
Great school. Scenic and beautiful place to learn!!!!
I went to SFU for jpunalizm"cmmunity
I was at SFU for 6 months pursuing a sandwich phd program. I liked all the profs I interacted with especially at Computing Science.. They have mastery of content. Its a nice community to be with.
Awesome... :D
A growing, mid-sized university. The main campus is situated on Burnaby Mountain.
Best university you could go to in Vancouver for undergrads. Most classes are accompanied by tutorials which gives you the one-on-one time you need with an instructor! The school was founded on the idea that people learn better through …
Did my undergrad there. The place has grown.
None of what they taught in computer science was actually useful in real-world. Everything I needed for the job I learned on the job. Poor education system - only designed to create stress, and No mentorship. I dropped out after my 3rd year before they beat all the creativity out of me. And was far more successful learning on my own. Students needs practical learning methodologies - Go to BCIT instead, a far better school.
I am writing this after graduating with my bachelors. I needed a few years to realize what a good school this was, for political science at least. The department took a bit of a neoliberal turn, but after going to university of Toronto, I realized how critical and intelligent this school was an hopefully still is.
(1-star because it wouldn't let me leave the ranking blank) Joke of a school. Professors don't care. TA's care less. They both only work for paycheques and couldn't care less about the students. Semester evaluations don't amount to anything. No student life. Sketchy student society. Depressing atmosphere. I severely regret spending any of my money to attend SFU.
Beautiful all the way.
Enjoyed SFU. Truly is one of the best universities in BC, and the HIGH rankings and recognition the school snags alongside UBC is well-deserved. My experience here has been one of utter enjoyment, no matter how rigorous SFU's academia is, because isn't it always rigorous at an exemplary university? SFU is like UBC's younger sibling, comparisons notwithstanding. Talk about 3rd in North America and 16th in the world (Top 50 Universities under 50 Years Old), while UBC is in the Top 40 World Universities over 50 Years Old. SFU is as internationally recognized as UBC, to be honest. With 130,000+ alumni all over the world I do NOT see how SFU is in the pits, because that is ridiculously inexorably far from the truth. SFU sadly had no Nursing program, so I transferred to UBC Nursing. Both are such amazing schools with well-deserved reputations.
hello, how is the quality of education at SFU compared to UBC , waterloo and mcgill
Was amazing and beautiful ???? have to see it with your own eyes ????
Still dunno why its on a mountain
Acceptable.
My favorite of all the SFU campuses. Don't forget to check out the trails on Burnaby mountain.
I am completing my masters degree and so far have had a horrible experience. There has been a critical failure and breakdown at every level, with every step from application to acceptance to payment. Genuinely a stressful and poor experience. My advice would be to go litterly anywhere else
Canada's number 1 comprehensive university. Hands down! ????
Great child care centre
Lots of students here
It was an all-star experience!! Very thankful to have been able to study here.
Not very accessible. Closed at the slightest bit of snow. Options are so limited for those in the suburbs to transit making it impossible for some to leave their car at home. Sadly when forced to bring your car you also have to pay the most ridiculous parking fees. How on earth can starving students afford theses.??? $26 a day!!!!!!! This is wrong and not fair to our kids who already have to pay a fortune just to go to school. They shouldn’t have to worry about parking fee’s, this is a huge stress for any students that don’t have the time to transit. It takes minimum 2 hours to transit and approx 30-40 minutes to drive from where a lot of students live... making driving the only feasible option. Something needs to be done about parking fees ASAP!! Good location for photo shoots though:/
SFU is a disrespectful environment full of professors who are racist (e.g., Dr, Blair) and rude (e.g., Dr. Racine). These instructors, among others, are so used to using profanity that you might as well confuse their classrooms with a low class mechanic shop located in the poorest part of the city. I would never recommend SFU to anyone whom I care for.
Great intermediate mountain biking, especially using the TransLink shuttle
Nice campus and even safe at night time. I went here for a meetup and I enjoyed the visit.
My favourite place on Earth!
Lovely campus
Would strongly suggesting not to go there, everything is in a simple word, CHEAP! If you graduate from BC high school, you need to be aware of the DIRTY TRICKS that exist in this place. Some thing regarding your academics: Back in high school, there is a CLEAR marking rubric: 86%-100% A 73%-85% B ...... In this place, a totally different story.... SFU claims that each professor has the right to decide what he/she thinks is appropriate. So let's say if your chem prof is quite strict, he might say 94%-100% A 88%-93% B 80-87% C- ...... So if you get 65% in this course, you FAIL, and you have to spend 700 CAD again, to take this course again, and waste one of your 5 chances of REPEAT. 5 times all used up? KICK OUT!! Or you are in a good prof class, he says 85%-100% A 50%-60% C- ... So again, if you get 65%, you PASS!!! There is just too many sketchy things going on, and school tries to make everything looks unpredictable and gloomy. Some prof, will tell you the grade criteria before class starts, but MOST prod, never tell you, until 2 or 3 weeks after the end of your FINAL EXAM...... Another situation might be, Same course, let's say BISC 101 ( BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE 101, where ALL students MUST take it, no matter you are in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Molecular Biology)... If you take this course at Fall, 2014, with horrible prof, you failed, due to RIDICULOUSLY HARD EXAM, or stupid marking rubric.... The term after, which is Spring 2015, you got a different prof, and everything is so much easier, and you easily get an A..... What happens is that yourself does not change at all, the only thing changed is your prof. That's why so many people said the stuff you learn, is not hard at all. What makes it hard, is that the people who teaches you, DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH!!! Same problem happens in high school, BUT high school is FREE!!! Plus, majority will pass. But we paid 700-800 CAD per course, so if you are a full time student, that means minimum 9 credits per term ( 3-4 months ), that is roughly 1700 CAD, ONLY FOR TUITION per term, each credit worth 180 CAD. What you get? A person who cannot teach, or possible cannot even speak fluent English, disqualified Education? Where you have to study all the stuff by yourself, go online? TA ( teacher assistant ) not helpful at all, and hosting boring tutorials? Remain calm, and rethink what you are doing. For policies, First, most students would planning to take course at other institution while you are enrolled in SFU, that's for sure gonna fail why? SFU has a bunch of so called policies, that prevent you from taking course at other institution although BC transfer guide lists the equivalence of each course. Reasons like tuition is cheaper, is closer to my home, are all INVALID REASONS!!! SFU is designed to ditch you, and obviously it had made all the traps already for you! Second, there is no fairness in this school, like it keeps saying No Break of rules, no cheating,etc... But in reality, the circumstance forces you to cheat, I mean not necessarily myself. For instance parking, each term (3 months), the cheapest parking permit is nearly 300CAD, and prevent you from Parking inside the building. But 60% never pay for the parking fee, and they parked where ever they want!!! The reality is people who follow the rule, does not get any benefit, like discount in future purchase, while on the other hand, the people who broke the rule had huge benefits, while rarely got punished..... When is raining, the entire school central is like a swamp, in one sentence you do not wanna spent 1 more second in this place. Strongly suggest to consider other institutions if possible!! Sincerely
Great place, great location, amazing community. Highly recommend it.
Beautiful views; library open to public; inspiring to see young eyes turned to their future.

great education options, and a massive hill thats fun to mountain bike down.
I liked..i liked who designed that buildings..cool
Could be improved. Have to take a lot of unrelated courses when completing a BBA degree
I like this place. Not as big as UBC. My second choice as an undergraduate was SFU.
does it have a museum for chemical elements?please aswer.thanks
The football is absolutely noncompetitive right now. Otherwise, all the other teams out here are decent.
Lovely location.excellant academics
Waste of your time and money. If you're struggling to find relevant work in your field of study, GOOD LUCK with career services. Especially if you are 1+ years removed from this place. All the negative reviews reflect the reality of this place of "higher learning"
Great site development.
A very nice place a lot of new homes are going up condominiums but beautiful drive to the campus
I am proud of Simon Fraser University. My two daughters grauate and now working Lion's Gate and St. Paul's.
Some professors are very bad but tehre are more good ones than bad ones
Has a really diverse and lively community, a true place to be engaged in and a place where one feels at home. The view is astounding, the people warm and the subjects interesting. One still gets lost in its many hallways though, and the buildings are in need of a touch up. Overall, still a great place to be in.
There is trail can do the run or walk
Study forever university
Only visited the campus. Large student center. I didn't evaluate the academics.
University with excellent faculties, infrastructure and surrounded by nature. It has lot of place for working indoors and outdoor, huge library, study for recreational purposes, lots of resturants and cafe and stores near by. If not a student there is a lovely Burnaby Mountain Park trail with a beautiful sunset views.

Beautiful views, in all weather. Renaissance Cafe is a great place for coffee!
The best workplace ! ❤️❤️❤️
Being born and raised in Vancouver, I've grown up visiting SFU's Burnaby campus and hold it as a special place for myself in Vancouver . From the campus's unique location on top of Burnaby Mountain (and therefore its inherently "unique" weather), to its noticeably intentional landscape plan, to it's bold brutalist architecture, I make a point of returning frequently to show visiting friends or have a quick tourist-in-your-own-town moment. Unfortunately, the campus gets a bad rap for all of these things. Take a look for yourself and post your own review!
Solid 5/5 campus. It is very elevated. I love it.
Beautiful campus. Decent bus service, obviously falls short of UBC but it has NightBus at least. Residences are really nice, and all single rooms, but I still prefer living off-campus within the Vancouver city limits. The nature and serenity is what hooked me when I first visited. It really feels like a college town, especially because it's rather secluded up on the mountain. Trees everywhere, smells great.
SFU Parking services are a big L. I pay for parking every semester and I got a ticket for not displaying my pass even though Ive hanged it in the same place under my rear view mirror for 3 years. Lost my ticket appeal too. Really pisses me off

Sunset is amazing on here ,the view is simply stunning . It's a bit hard to reach though .
The experience in sfu is a total misery for some students especially those in applied science. You rarely see joy or happiness on their faces. I would summarize what makes it the worst university in north America as follows. 1. Profs and TAs have 0 sense of responsibility on teaching, and most of them dont dont how to teach. 2. More than 60% of profs cannot speak proper English. 3. Grading is incredibly strict. 4. for some of courses, very weak corelation between lecture, assignments/lab and exams. The reason behind that is they dont know to how to teach and steal exams from MIT. 5. The main building air ventilation system is rotten and transmitting mould and toxic smells all over. It makes me feel sick and depressed while staying for more than 2 hours.

Academically it is a top of the line school. Their main problem is the medical insurance they force students to purchase such as "i have a plan" and "Guard me". These two insurances are just robbing students. They're expensive and do not offer many benefits.
Great Place...

Good school but wifi is terrible
I was not a student of Simon Fraser University, but my son did his master's in kinesiology and then worked for sometime there in the concerned department. He had a good time there and we had an opportunity to visit the university several times during our stay in Vancouver.
SFU is my alma mater. Decided to take a ride up to Burnaby Mountain to see the latest happenings on campus. Surprisingly there was an event going on campus for Volunteers organizations. Wish could be back in summer to enjoy the fabulous MOUNTAIN & INDIAN ARM views.
You are here for study, not the stupid NATURAL VIEWS, OR FOOD..... Plus, food in this place is for sure OVERPRICED..... Imagine in a hot sunny day, where the entire concrete building has no air condition, i swear if you stay this building for more than 20 minutes, you will feel choked..... Dirty washrooms...... HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT GOING THIS PLACE!!! Even the son of the SFU PRESIDENT HIMSELF, does not come to this place. He goes to University of Lethbridge in Alberta, transferred to HARVARD for MBA right away!!
Beautiful campus
What a wonderful university
Putting myself in this situation is 100% my fault. However, it is an absolute farce that I was held back from graduating because of a 55% grade in a science course. If my mark was 59% I would have received my Bachelor of Business Administration with Honors with three concentrations. Instead, I have to put my life on hold for eight months so I can re-take my nutrition course, in order to obtain my business degree. SFU is a first class university, but this will leave a sour taste in my mouth for a long time.
Sometimes need to wait long for bus during peak hours, buses are very crowded
It’s very beautiful here✨

Just one Word AWSOME!!!
Good
2 and half months left then i'm outuv hea!! ugh~... can't. wait.
Very underwhelming campus
It was ????
Great university with forest areas nearby. Loved it.
The school is great academic-wise but lacks everything else that typical universities should have. The environment is all work, no fun. It lacks society which many people have argued there to be, only to find that they are people who have no idea what typical university life is like. I found both staff and students to be very rude and disrespectful. Everyone does not look very happy and stressed which is understandable considering the main campus being on the mountain and isolated plus everyone keeping to themselves as if they are in jail. No wonder it has the highest depression and suicide rate out of all Canadian universities. It also lacks resources considering it is a smaller school. There are not a lot of course offerings and tend to offer only one class section per course per year which prevents earlier graduation. It's a great school if you are a mature student and there to just take extra courses. I would not recommend it to first degree undergrad students who are looking for a full university experience.
Simon
Gotta dock a star for the oppressive soviet architecture, but not bad otherwise.
Beautiful
Worst University, it's hinduphobic Don't take admission here you will ruin ur career and culture
school. they play games.
How is SFU compared to UoC in terms of Mathematics/Actuarial Science Bachelors. A general comparison would also do.
So is the university good or not
Amazing architecture and views!!
Sfu is corrupt. Money is being used for vacations. VP of finance doesnt know where their money is during the sfss September 24, 2018 Annual general meeting. Change my opinion. Contact me if this isnt true.
Lol hate this place and would never go back. "Non profit" my butt tuition for business school here is higher than UBCs and literally double that of Douglas. Keep getting calls after grad for donations, how about you donate to my 40k student loan? Thanks.
greatst place to study
One of the most recognized university in British Columbia with a wonderful campus.
(Translated) Clean and good air (Original) 깨끗하고 공기좋음

Great place for learning
Scenic, serene, and beautiful!
Amazing Beautiful
You will learn a lot from SFU, SFU has a beautiful campus, teachers and stuff members are very friendly and helpful, all the tutorial sessions are important.
Very bad university to take admission because fees for Indian students are 5 fold than Canadian student.
Simon Fraser collage
Best spot for trip. Construction everywhere. At least you see they waste your tuition fee on something. Awesome
Nice views
One of the best university in Canada
Lost a pencil case for 2 days, came back and still found it. Safest campus on the planet!
AVOID SCHOOL IF POSSIBLE!!
A great university with strong business program. Located on the top of Burnaby mountain, which provides the perfect location for higher level education. Plus, it has more snow days which may cause cancellation of classes, a bonus for some students, I’m sure. It also has a strong co-op program to help students gain some practical experiences before their graduation. I personally did the co-op program before my graduation, 4 terms of it, a little extreme, but it helped to pay for my tuition fees, which is not getting any cheaper these days, and I believe the experience(Accounting and Internal Audit) also helped me to obtained the job offer right after my graduation (I had 1 week off after my graduation before starting my full time job as an accountant, which I kind of regret a little now, lol). I wish the sky train could connect from production way station to the campus though, but the bus run is frequent enough. There’s plenty of developments around campus now which provides convenient rental units for students, enable them to walk to school, although price is not cheap. There are plenty of restaurants on the east side of the campus. The parking is a lottery system, and there are a lot of people fighting for it. Overall, a great school, and I’m a proud graduate from SFU.
Good university, everything you need.
Too much concrete, please change
love this school so much.... there are in creditable academic environment inside the SFU...great academic reputations for SFU has achieved higher ranking in the whole world...
Poor education, poor service, top dollar. Everything about this school shows that they don't care about their students. If you have a problem there is no one to talk to. Every faculty passes the buck to another whenever the is a problem and you are stuck with the problem at the end of the day. If you want a real education with thoughtful, student oriented services then try somewhere else. Douglas, BCIT, etc.
Simon Fraser university is the best! If ur in CS Herbert is a must take prof, followed by ouldooz and maybe steven pierce! Student Union building coming 2069!
It's a huge state-of-the-art academic facility strategically sighted in a serene environment conducive for learning. I would love my kids to study there.
nice school
fortunate enough to be invited as alumni. This place has been modified over the years. I always feel blessed and nostalgic visiting here.
Wonderful experience in SFU hotel. Clean, simple, modern, and good beverage and equipment
Poor uni..people go there cause its cheap..compared to Mcgill,UBC,U OF T.
The work that the staff and the many different people I know there and meet grad day.
Worst "university" in the world. Has the "architecture" of an underground bunker. It has the highest student suicide rate in Canada. Selfish administration. Depressive location, overpriced cafeteria, slum residences. They even write fake reviews about themselves. Look two of the fake "positive" "reviews" have the same Chinese statements. Avoid this fake slum like the plague.
no Hindu should send there children to SFU they are anti Hindu trying to instigate and divide India.
Now
Libr@ndu University spreading wrong info
THE BURNABY CAMPUS IS INCREDIBLY DEPRESSING, its all concrete and walls, get ready to be suffocated, also because the campus is in NARNIA (middle of nowhere) no one wants to stay behind and hangout because they all have to go home. the surrey campus on the other hand is a beautiful magical place, its open and comfy and it has a food court downstairs, also it makes you feel like you are at home. thats all.
Starry night groups are free or we should pay for them?
Great place. Sense of community needs to be worked on, however. Hard to make friends here. Other than that, I had a great time here.
When I first started here I thought it was a cold faceless machine. But I gave it a bit longer and in the end I found some of my best life experiences while here. They have the quality where it counts. Some excellent professors and TAs, you just need to find your niche.
Hello it's really good place to I've with favorable environment for learning. Wow
I drive a city bus up the hill...
Proud to be one of the SFU grads
First, I'd like to make it clear that my last review was removed. I'm not sure why, so I am reiterating it again as I feel it is important that people know this: 1) The president of this university is corrupt in more ways than one. First, there is the situation of international students. I was born in Canada & graduated from high school with honours, & my application to SFU was flat out rejected. I had to start at Douglas College and then transfer to SFU 2 years later in order to get in. Once I arrived, there were numerous international students who I spoke to who could barely speak English & who got in on their first try and they didn't even have a HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA! Why? Because they pay 4 times more in tuition than Canadian citizens. Hence, the school allows in a massive amount of international students, who are given priority because they pay more, as well as priority for on-campus student housing. Don't get me wrong, diversity is a beautiful thing, but this is a complete inequity to locals' access to education, & the president is taking advantage of these international students. An example of this - when Trump became president and immigrants were fleeing to Canada, SFU stated that they would "waive application fees". This is a $75 fee. In contrast, The University of Ottawa stated that they would help these people by waiving international student fees (a TON of money). What did SFU's president want to gain from this? An influx of international students and a lot of extra cash in his pocket...completely taking advantage of the situation of these desperate people. He was not "helping" them whatsoever. 2) TAs & profs are completely disconnected. There is a complete lack of communication on a) how to do assignments/papers & b) how to grade them. Hence, you have overworked TAs grading in a very haphazard way. The professor rarely ever sees anything that's graded. This makes for many problems when it comes to exam time. Moreover, the TAs are always on strike. I was not able to get into grad school (at a different uni) on time because the TAs were again on strike and withholding grades. Why do they keep doing this? For good reason. The president of SFU (Andrew Petter) pays them in dog food, i.e., minimal wages. They basically do the jobs of the profs &, in my opinion, are almost replacing the profs - grading, teaching, dealing with students' inquiries, all while studying their own higher degrees. Hence, they are demanding a higher wage & more respect, & it is never given to them because Petter is a thief. 3) Many of the profs don't speak English well (I was in the Faculty of Science). Try doing integral calculus with a prof that you can barely understand. It's very difficult. I am positive that SFU hires these profs from overseas & pays them unfair wages (see the theme here?). 4) The grading at this university is crazy hard. I'm not sure if it's because of the disconnect between profs & TAs, or the grading scheme, but you can bet that you won't have a social life while going to this school. 5) WARNING: It will take 5-6 years to get an undergraduate degree. Myself and almost all of my friends took about 5.5 years to complete our undergrads (with no breaks). I found that this is because upper level courses are never offered. Either they don't have enough profs to teach them or the courses are full half a day after the registration system opens and you have to wait another year or more to take a required course. And the university knows this, but does nothing about it because they make more money if you're here longer. Overall, the experience is bad. It particularly worries me about the future of locals' access to our universities. Petter treats it as a business, and is only out to maximize profits at the expense of hard working students. Scary. This university has a complete lack of caring for students' education. It's all about the profit with these people, which makes the quality lack severely.
nice university
Working there . They have a Tim's
I really enjoyed my SFU experience. Definitely would recommend.
Was not there
Best choice for undergraduates
(Translated) Not bad, big and beautiful. On the mountain (Original) 还不错,很大很漂亮。在山上
ONE WORD: DEPRESSIVE TWO WORDS: DEPRESSIVE LOOPHOLE IMAGINE YOUR CLASSROOM WITH NO AIR CONDITION, SERIOUSLY 80% OF THE CLASSROOM in this place DOES NOT HAVE ANY AIR CONDITION SYSTEM, so imagine bunch of sweaty brownies sit around you, throw up and run away from the classes. There is a book called THE RADICAL CAMPUS, by Hugh Johnston. Go read this book before you come to this place, an HONEST ADVICE to those international students. As the author himself claimed, SFU is unique, why? INSTANT UNIVERSITY, LIKE INSTANT NOODLES WE EAT. The entire story is basically a BC PREMIER, although the longest one in office for 20 years, not sure if there is any corruption and dirty tricks involved, named Andrew Bennett, with Grade 8 Education, some rumors claim that he's one of the relatives of the 11th Prime Minister of Canada, moved from Nova Scotia to Kelowna to open a hardware shop, later elected as a local trade leader, suddenly sees the opportunity of the so called "Program of Enhancing Knowledge of the Public." From now on we rather believe he sees opportunity for Money, as his PRIMARY concern is Political Achievement and Money. Basically this premier wants an INSTANT UNIVERSITY, in less than 2 years, including staff and construction. So he grabs a call to Gorden Shrum, SFU FIRST CHANCELLOR, say hey, leave BC HYDRO NOW, and go to that place. I don't care if there is not enough preparation, the only thing i care is open in 2 years, which is 1965. So DEFORMITY is the term i described this school. In comparison, UVIC, has been in close association with UBC for 4-5 years, by then upgrade itself from College into University. Same to York University in Ontario, associated with UT for 5 years, accumulating staff, then transform itself into an University.... Many people complain Canadians have low efficiency on works, but you know what? University Acts, a trick held by this place in demanding inappropriate fees from students, INCLUDING STUDENTS STILL HAVE TO PAY MEMBERSHIPS FEES, ATHLETICS FEES, although they are no longer a member of that society, or never use Gym facilities..... This University Act, from draft to review, less than 2 MONTHS. In other words, if Mr.Bennett loves it, efficiency would goes up in a second. SFU? Right away!!! So imagine, how come such a university, with 35000+ undergraduates, can be accommodated properly. with 2 years of preparation, problems for sure comes!!
No kidding, when you breath fresh air and comes into the building, it is depressing!! So much construction going on inside building, extremely noisy, and the smell gonna kill you!! STRONGLY SUGGEST NOT GIVE A CENT TO THIS PLACE, even the president Andrew Petter, his own son does not go to this place.
**Please read this and help me** I am from India, panning to get into FIC is it good. My main question is, if we are not acceptable in SFU after 1 year in FIC, can we still continue in FIC and complete our bachelors in FIC.
