I joined the tour for two nights in Jan. 2020. Tracy is such an amazing guide. She's a true Northerner and you can tell from her knowledge of the North and the culture up there, especially the culture of the indigenous people. She would also recommend local hidden gems to you. As others mentioned, Tracy will serve you fresh fish chowder, bannock, hot chocolate and tea. I stayed with a smaller group for one night and a larger group for the other night. You'll have opportunities to meet with people from different regions in the world and share your experiences with each other.
Tracy's cabin is about 15 mins drive from downtown and is a good location to see the northern lights. It all depends on the weather, though. I saw the aurora for both nights, but it was fainter on the second night. The trick is to have patience. Sometimes the aurora wouldn't come out until 1:30AM or so. When you see it with your eyes, it could be white at first, but that's the aurora indeed, and you can see it through your camera. Tracy has two tripods in her cabin for guests to use. If you wish to take good photographs, bring a good camera and search for photoshooting tips online before the trip.
I would highly recommend this tour to all travelers to Yellowknife, especially to those who wish to stay warm during the night. Thank you, Tracy, for such an amazing tour!
