Although the place is gorgeous, the business owner is really rude and lacking basic customer service. We went to this place 3 times in two months and every time we had bad experience with this guy, first time we got almost kicked out in very rude manner and were told " no boats after 5 pm" only to see people still renting until 6:30 , second time, we were a big group and wanted to rent two trips of the big tour boat, the guy accepted 2 trips for 150$ then he put other people with us on the boat and didn't take enough number of persons from our group although he could have taken about 3 more and that happened with both trips ,about 2 families of our group ended up not going because of what he did and he didn't give us any money back . I don't wanna go to this place again unless the management changes.

A one hour rental was just enough time to paddle (canoe) all the way to the pedestrian bridge at the little island park and back again, with a bit of time to stop and feed the ducks and swans. They sell small bags of feed there. The patio cafe served delicious sandwiches with fruit on the side, very reasonably priced!

So much fun out on the paddle boat! Only $25 for an hour, very reasonable! The duck feed makes the ride even better! Ps. Peddling faster doesn't mean you'll go faster, slow and steady will get you where you want to go:)

Regardless of the many signs warning of the dangers of feeding the ducks and swans, etc.,all along the riverside, this business is selling bags of un-branded bird food. The response from the owner was, "It's to keep the Canadian geese away." Well, try telling that to the kids !!

Staff were friendly and helped us out with whatever we needed, nice stretch of water and even a nice workout???? ducks followed us everywhere we went and we passed by multiple swans. A very nice experience and a potentially good first date experience. If you are hungry after they also have a nice area to order food and more. Great experience overall!

One of the highlights of my summer, I have been going here for years. Great service, great food at the most reasonable prices in Stratford. Season passes available for locals makes the price very reasonable for kayaking every week during the season. The patio dining area is well shaded and protected from all but the most stormy of weather (in which case they may be closed). Hot dogs, burgers, and sandwiches. One of the few times a year when I indulge in a hot dog. This is not fine-dining, but an excellent value for money. My great-aunt loves coming here as well just for lunch. I have not seen waves on the Avon river in the 43 summers I've been here making it a great place for children's first boating experience. I took my friend's son canoeing on Tuesday for the first time and he loved it!

1. we lined up for 20-30 min and when it was our turn the owner told us that he doesn’t have any paddle boat available that we need to come back in 45 min and there is no option to be on the waiting list because it’s too busy, that was a bit disappointing but ok. we left and decided to wait 45 min to line up again. while we were waiting by the river we saw people return with the paddle boat and people who lined up after us were able to get on the paddle boat, that happened probably within 5 min after we left. 2. The paddle boat only sits 3 and we have 2 small kids. they both wanted to be on the boat so we decided to have them take turns, one went on the boat with us and another one was looked after by grandparents. We returns to switch out the kid and was told it’s not allowed. While I don’t understand why, i respect the rule. It put us in a very tough situation. They say the rule is stated clearly by we did not see it. They should make the rules visible maybe have it next to the price list in large prints so we will not have such plan and to disappoint the kids. while the experience itself was fun the business did not make us feel welcomed.

Purchased an hour for the pedal boating. Came back early. Guy said we can come back and use the rest of the time of we wanted to. Good customer service. My nephew and niece enjoyed it too, especially feeding the ducks and goose.

Staff were rude, unprofessional, and dismissive to polite guests. Experience is over-priced but they have a monopoly. Here is the back-story: My family and I were visiting with family in the area. My children really wanted to go on the paddle boats and there was one left at the launch. I inquired about renting the boat from the grey- haired older male staff member and was told: "The bodies need to be here in front of me for me to rent the boat". So I pointed to my son who was about 5m away from me feeding the ducks and said, "No problem, I am planning to go out 30 mins with my son, then my wife will take my daughter for the other 30 minutes" to which he replied: "We don't split the time, didnt you read the sign?" Well clearly I missed that ridiculous concept of me renting a boat but not having control of who sits in it after doing so. Very rarely in my life and my extensive travelling experience have I ever been treated so rudely. Happy my family was not around to witness that. On principle alone, not because of the $25/ hour price tag, I thanked him politely ( but he was already moving away from me doing some task more important than talking to a potential customer) and then explained to my family that we would do paddle boats in our home town where you can rent them for $15 for the whole day. I feel like this man is really unhappy and intentionally trying to sabotage the business and ruin people's opinion of Stratford. Don't let bad karma win! Stratford is amazing, but avoid this business to prevent an unpleasant experience like mine and others reviewed here.

We drove from out of town specifically to do the paddle boats. We called ahead of time and were told it’s first come first serve. Fair enough. We got there and stood in line for about 20 minutes, no problem. We finally got to the window only to be told ‘we’re not taking any more reservations come back in an hour’… stand in line again, no guarantees…. Okay… Literally as we’re leaving the line with crying kids who’s hearts are broken… we see a friend standing in line, we told him there aren’t any open spots for paddle boats, he said he will try to book something else maybe… 2 minutes later, we look at the river we see our friend and his family in 3 paddle boats… no they didn’t have any prior reservations!! The guy clearly has no fair system! But again… we didn’t want to assume anything. We went back and stood in line so we can ask what happened… my baby started crying, I saw a chair near by, so I wanted to sit there and tend to her, I start walking towards it, only to find an arm extended infront of me and a worker saying ‘aaa aaa aaa you can’t go there’ in a veryyy condescending manner 1) label your restricted areas 2) talk to adults like adults please, ‘excuse me, this area is restricted’ I don’t care if you’re busy or overworked or understaffed, that’s your issue not your customers. I left holding my tears back. This was a very unfair experience.

Beautiful and serene. I personally did not rent anything , but just walking by the trail was very relaxing. There were a lot of ducks , swan and seagulls. Well maintained and clean. It was very crowded but I visited it on long weekend so that's a given. I wish they had some street food stalls thou , it would be nice to take a seat on one of the bench and snack in between

The man child working at the dock was extremely rude to my dad when my dad asked if they sanitize the boats and equipment. He looked at my dad and asked if he wanted to fight!! We couldn’t believe his response to a simple question, he probably got offended because he got called out for not sanitizing anything. This ruined our day as he didn’t need to show any attitude. I would give it no stars if I could.

Went to Stratford to do kayaking & rented kayaks from Avon. They do not do advance booking but we didn’t need to wait for our kayak. It was easy & quick. They are also taking all the COVID precautions. Water is really beautiful as well. A must visit place to enjoy kayaking, canoeing & pedal boat.

The perfect way to enjoy Stratford. The Avon Boat Rental company offers pedal boats, canoes and kayaks. Rates are very reasonable and the staff are friendly. Responsible Covid measures are in effect. Offers the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with the swans. Be sure to pick up some ice-cream when your done your paddle - only $1!

Horrible place. Owner was a jerk. The food gave my daughters, my son, my wife and I food poisoning. I know it was the food because we were sick soon after eating, without having done much or eaten anything after the meal. I’ll add, the boating was just as bad. While the gentlemen who helped my family and I into the boats were very friendly and considerate, the boats themselves (we used one kayak, one canoe and a paddle boat) all gave us serious problems. My family and I are experienced kayakers and canoers as well. These boats have the structural integrity of a feather, and the owner seems to have no regard for these types of complaints. Just thought I’d have a nice time with my family, and I was met with a poor excuse for a waterside restaurant and boating service. Also, to those who may think of taking the motorized boat, don’t. Don’t support a business owner as rude as Frank. It is my understanding that he is a known racist and seems to have it in for women, and people of non-white ethnicity. This was apparent upon dealing with him. Save yourself the trouble, spend a weekend somewhere else.

Just witnessed a family being mistreated by the staff because they were taking a bit longer to get on the boats due to their kids. Felt very uncomfortable by the tone used by one of the guys talking to the customers infront of the children. They treated me and my family well but I just had to share. Hoping it was not because the family were visible minorities. Disappointing.

A must do when visiting Stratford! Had fun while enjoying the scenery. Price for an hour is very reasonable. When we arrived, we didn't have to wait for a paddle boat, but were given one promptly. Young men working there were also courteous in helping my mother and I in and out of the paddle boat.

For a reasonable fee you get to paddle along the scenic river. If you don't have your own canoe or paddleboat and a place to go, then this is a good idea for a nice afternoon activity

We had fun! Acquiring the pedal boat was rapid, staff friendly and professional in demeanor. Due to an injury of my left shoulder and surrounding area I was only able to peddle while my friend assisted peddling as well. The body of water, surrounding trees and houses seen while out on the water was quite gratifying. We recommend Avon pedal boat rentals.

The paddle boat required much more leg muscle than any other paddle boat we have experienced. The young man with black hair who assisted my family in and out of the boat was rude and not very helpful. This soured our our experience somewhat. Perhaps this company should hire employees with kinder and friendlier attitudes. This is a service industry after all. Maybe the employee was having a bad day, but he needs to put a filter on his mouth. Especially with young kids present.

I arrived with my granddaughter for an advertised boat ride only to be told by unfriendly, sarcastic man at the kiosk that it may or may not happen "Come back at noon and we'll see" was his unhelpful reply - totally devastating a 3 year old who had been looking forward to the ride. The weather was fine at 10;30 - I surmise he didn't think it was worth his bother for one paying passenger. On the plus side the cafe part of the operation was especially nicely decorated with great floral planters and the lady behind the counter was really kind to a child who dropped his ice cream....

There are many great spots to visit right here in "our own backyard", and Stratford is definitely one of them. We were able to take a relaxing walk along the Avon River that also provides bench seating for those wishing to enjoy a picnic meal. There are also Stratford Al Fresco spots set up as outdoor eating spots along the river where you can purchase food from restaurants nearby and enjoy them in the designated spots with Alcoholic beverages should you choose open to the public until 8pm on the week days and 9pm on the weekends I believe with outside lighting turning on about 5pm. The Swans, and Geese are all along the way and kids would love it. There is much to do including several water activities on the river. You can pedal boat, canoe, or take a boat tour on the river. We tried out the Pedal boats and definitely enjoyed our time. The staff operating the canoes and boats were professional, kind and patient. We were happy to be in great hands. Swans float beside you and passerbys enthusiastically wave. If it is a sunny day don't forget your sunscreen and secure hat. Take your time pedaling. You work up the same appetite and maybe a little less sweat if it's a sunnier day. The parking was free the spot we parked along the river, and in the lot to Pedal Boat when we went. The prices are also reasonable to Pedal Boat especially because at least 2 adults and a child can be in one Boat (I also believe there are some that can fit a person on the back). The Boathouse Riverside restaurant is also great. After working up an appetite, you can literally hop out the boat and order your food. Each meal came with side of fruits that were fresh. The sandwiches were tasty and came hot off the grill. There was outside seating (tables under umbrellas and benches under the trees on the grass) both overlooking the water. We ordered hotdogs (came with a side of potatochips) , veggie hamburgers, and a Canadiana sandwich. The ladies did an amazing job efficiently taking orders, preparing the meals and serving us. Keep up the good work everyone! Hope to see you all again.

My boyfriend and I rented a paddle boat for 1 hour. The river was very scenic and we had a lot of fun. Prices are also reasonable and the man helping us was super kind. Even though we came back a bit late, he didn't charge us extra. 10/10 would definitely come here again.

Tourists center, websites and reviews said it was great! But I was very disappointed! We went in June and paddle boats were unsafe. The food was disappointing. Was not impressed. Tryed talking to the owner but he was very moody! Would recommend everyone to save their money and avoid this attraction

Absolutely fun and full of friendly people. It's a great place for a prefect day away. However make sure you have a watch on you because if you go over your time limit. You'll be charged. Which is fair in a way. Still think they should tell you and give you a timer but oh well. Life isn't prefect. ????‍♀️

I am so disappointed in my experience here. I arrived with my 3 children and my husband looking to go on the pedal boats. Since my youngest is 2, we asked the owner if we could split up the $24/hr price with a switch of a child and he rudely said ‘we’re too busy for that’ - they had boats available. He had no problem dismissing a 5 and 6 year old - how you treat people matters! I gave 2 stars because they seem to have a lot of stock.
