Very nice
Extremely impressed. Nice, knowledgeable staff. Bathrooms. Snacks. Heated lower level. Worth every penny.
It was very fun, and interesting !
Wonderful crew. Beautiful views. Informative tour. Loved it!
If you come to the Sault make sure you do this tour they do a fantastic job telling you about the history of of the town. The crew is very friendly and you even get to go threw the Soo locks. You get up close and personal with the freighter's coming threw and they even offer a dinner cruise.
Great Tour. They told a lot of history of the area.
Awesome experience
This tour is a must do! Perfect!
Awesome tour and very nice people. Friendly and informative. The area is beautiful
Well worth the money! My family enjoyed it!
Such an amazing thing to see such huge freighter ships go through the Locks! Highly recommend it!
The staff at the dock was fun and friendly. The captain and crew of the boat were very informative. They not only shared facts and history about the locks they did it in a fun, entertaining way.
Great time
Interesting and fun
You wait only to wait and then wait some more. The history information was subpar and because of the long drug out tour itself that lasted 2.5 hours it was like watching the world's biggest pot of water coming to a boil with the smallest burner. The female robotic narrator didn't help. So bring a blanket, a pillow and something to eat and drink and consider your whole afternoon shot.
Had a fantastic time traveling through the soo locks on a boat and getting a narrated tour. I would recommend this to everyone.
Really interesting tour going through the Locks! Great family experience! Worth the price.
Not bad, kinda slow, definitely not a good idea on a hot day, interesting to see the locks working. Bring cash because there is a cash only snack bar.
The crew is fantastic! Knowledge just bleeds from their veins! They definitely have their facts together. The ship is clean and rode smoothly through the lakes. A nice trip to enjoy a packed lunch and learn some interesting stuff. Check em out for sure!! Oh, get in line first to get a top shelf front row seat.
Great tour of where Lakes Michigan, Huron and Superior come together.
Guides use a script that does a good job of what it highlights. For me there was so much more than time allowed to warrant a second tour. No chance to hear about this canal versus others (Panama Canal) no real engineering discussion. In other words nothing that would bore small children. Crew was very attentive, polite and knowledge.
We had a great time. Well worth the experience.
We took 6 children ages 5-13 on this tour. It was worth every penny. Very informative, comfortable and all around enjoyable. Couldn't be happier. Thanks
Great tour with lots of information on not only the canals but of different points of interest in the area along the water. Going though the locks was a fun relaxing experience and way to see the area.
The experience was great for a long weekend, we never ran out of things to do!
Long tour but there's bathrooms on the boat and it was a cool experience to go thru the locks and see both sides the Canadian and American sides
Learned so much. Enjoyed it a lot
Had a great experience there????
What an great perspective of one of Michigan's technology marvels.
Worth it !
Great tour very knowledgeable. Boat was clean, dock building was very clean, we enjoyed the fact we could picnic right there.
A lot of history in the Soo
Only way to see the locks
We greatly enjoyed our tour boat of the locks. Very informative and pleasant. Well worth the price of admission. Captain John was a great pilot, even extended the 90 minute ride to almost 2 hours. Thanks for a wonderful experience!
Excellent and very educating. My 16 year old niece was enthralled with it. It was a beautiful day and we have a nice time.
Great Tour. Very enjoyable.
Great experience.
Knowledgable staff, fun boat ride through the Soo Locks and seeing various landmarks.
Good tour, but we we had to wait to go through the locks, plus the Canadian locks were closed for all traffic so we didn’t get the full tour.
We really enjoyed this boat tour. The staff was super friendly and informative. We saw the American locks and the Canadian locks along with a few of the gigantic freighters that use the American locks.
I picked up a brochure for Soo Locks Boat Tours at the campground in which I am staying, and decided to make it a day trip. The staff was extremely nice, and welcoming. They offered great tips for places to visit after our tour. The tour itself, was about 2 hours long, and was interesting and informative. I would definitely recommend taking the tour.
Incredible
Tour guide had great tidbits throughout the tour. Lots to see, just wish it was a little bit longer. Once you get through the locks you’re turning around and going through them again.
Nice tour but a bit pricey
Went here on a spontaneous trip to see my Dad that had just moved to the Soo! It was very interesting if you’re a history buff like I am. I had been through the much smaller locks in my personal boat on the Cheboygan river but this was a very different experience. The narrator was knowledgeable and had a sense of humor! I would recommend this to family and friends it was a very nice trip.
Great tour and fun trip through the locks.
Amazing! Highly recommend this activity!
Fun ride , captain and crew/ narrator made it a special day!
Excellent experience! Informative and historical. Had a great time! Thank you.
They completely neglect the mask policy mandated by the state; both the employees and customers. Horrible experience, very ignorant people here.
Very enjoyable tour with highly informed tour quide. Like to go a least once every summer.
Despite the cold and windy day, our ferry tour was fascinating and educational. All office and boat staff were awesome! It is heated below deck. They also sell snacks, drinks, even beer altho all a bit pricey. Plenty of room to photograph on both decks. You will see plenty of locks, other ships, Canadian mining businesses, Lake Superior, etc. It was worth the money to us to pass thru some of the oldest locks around and view 2 countries at once!
Taking the boat tour was definitely worth it just to say you were in the locks. And for $31 per person, I suppose some people would expect a longer boat ride. But I felt two hours was longer than necessary. If you just want to see the locks …
Very cool tour and nice information about things around the locks. Too see a 1000’ boat up close coming out of the lock then going through the lock. Very neat and cool sights that you can’t see from the observation deck.
The best place for watching big ships
Great tour. It was fun wish it was a little longer. Also wish they take off from the Canadian side. We had fun learned some things.
Great day and your?
It was awesome going through the locks!
Second trip with the tour in about a year. It is a great opportunity to see the Soo Locks from within the lock and get up close with the freighters. Knowledgeable guides that teach you a lot about the area and its history, as well as the …
The tour was great. They boated you around many unique places, some that a close friend of mine who lived here didn't know existed. Since of course it's on the water bring layers, and a camera. The crew was very nice and informative, and would recommend for all ages.
Great choice to learn and experience a Lock and Dam in action. Informative guide. Safe. Clean. Friendly. Smooth riding.
For the price my wife purchased the tickets at, I wouldn't have gone on this tour. You go around the bay to look at both shores. Because of Canada's ordinance of covid the boat is unable to go into Canadian water. So the tour consisted of looking at the Canadian shoreline. Having the staff read aloud some basic info about a few buildings and ships in the area. Then you go in the Soo Lock canal; which is cool in theory but it's like taking a very slow elevator. It fills up with several million gallons of water to allow passage between the 2 great lakes. A difference of 33ft to 56ft but..you can watch this process from the wall and not pay to be in it. The staff were nice, building was clean, etc. Etc. But I had no expectations for this tour and I walked out feeling like it wasn't worth the time.
Super awesome experience! My boys enjoyed this as much as I did! Worth the money for sure!
Thoroughly enjoyed our tour thru the locks.
Terrific, informative tour, our captain and staff were very kind and informative!
Amazing everyone needs to do this in the area
Slow tour of the history of the area.
We had a wonderful time, the dinner was yummy, the staff was attentive, the Captain was very informative; overall an educational experience that one must experience to get a look at the Soo Locks, thank you again for a wonderful evening
Amazing way to see the Soo! Staff is amazing as well!
We were treated like VIPs. Great buffet and very friendly staff from registration through the boat staff. Highly recommend
Educational and great experience!
Captain Bob is very knowledge and my grandson and I learned a lot today!
Very nice tour, lots of local information!!
Informative, friendly, and relaxing tour. Really enjoyed it.
Well arranged...boat tours...good information given
Excellent experience!
Had fun.
Very interesting. Nice staff...very professional. Check it out!
Really cool experience! Fun tour.
Absolutely loved my experience was full of awe inspiring sights definitely encourage all travelers to take this tour!
It was amazing to see and learn how the locks work. Very informative and a great boat ride! Fun for the whole family!
Very cool to see.
It's a beautiful Park has a small Museum with all the nautical things you could look at and the history of the Sault Saint Marie locks.
Great experience.
Awesome 2 hours Very interesting and informative trip. Money well spent plus fun. Kids loved it and all adults were happy too. Take a tour from dock 1. It’s a longer one. Look for a coupon in the brochure. Take a water in warm day and a jacket during colder day. Boat goes trough big locks on US side and small lock on Canada side.
Friendly staff and a fun tour through the locks. Mask required when unable to social distance. Would recommend to anyone who is considering it, definitely worth it!
Great staff, hot cocoa or coffee is a must with the colder weather. Great tour and a wonderful way to see the locks.
We went on the Soo Locks Boat Tour for the first time this year after many years of visiting the area. There is nothing that compares to actually travelling through the locks! It was an awesome experience and we highly recommend it!
Great fun. Transit the locks, in style. Informative and comfortable.
Totally badass!
I decided not to take this boat tour, because it is really nothing interesting to see.
Nice tour!
Interesting, not a good tour to do with young children
Loved this tour.
Excellent tour of the locks and the area. The tour guide was so informative and interesting. We went through 2 locks - one used for freighters and the other used by smaller vessels.
Great tour of the locks.
Great views and narration.... Close views of freighters
Excellent guide with great historical commentary on buildings and the locks
I have been on this tour more times than I can count and while I didn't appreciate when I was a kid, this is well worth the price to get an in depth look at how the locks work and the history behind them. If you have young children you may want to wait until they're a bit older, but it really depends on how easily they get bored on two hour boat trips.
Loved the tour. So cool seeing how the locks worked. My favorite part was watching two of the crew members on our tour boat almost get in a fist fight twice
Book your tickets now! Very cool! Snack bar on the boat. Excellent views and tour guides!
Fabulous trip today. Very informative and entertaining for both kids and adults.
Breathtaking sceneries with exciting history, and endless fun.
Very nice tour.
Not off to a good start. Apparently, they don't enforce the mask mandate on board
Great people and a good time
Had a great time learning about the locks and surrounding area by experiencing the process. Very comfortable and would highly recommend.
(Translated) You can actually experience the change in water level as the boat you ride passes through the canal. The ship gradually went up and down, and both children and adults enjoyed the mysterious experience. It is a 2-hour tour that goes through two canals, one on the American side and the other on the Canadian side, so we recommend that you leave plenty of time.
It was a lot of fun for the entire family. I loved how the guides led this tour. We had fun and learned quite a bit!
Very interesting
A great experience going through the Soo Locks on the ferry. A must do experience!
Love visiting the locks!
Nice ride
Was fun, for about 1 hour. Then bored. $34/person is a bit much, but I understand it's a tourist thing. The narrator and captain were excellent.
Great tour!
The captains are knowledgeable, the ride is enjoyable, all around neat experience. We were lucky to see a 1000 ft vessel up close, waiting for the locks! So amazing.
Cool
The tour was 2 hours. Going through the Soo Locks we learned a lot of information about them. 22 million gallons and we were at surface level. My daughter was especially excited because not only was she taking a tour of the Soo Locks, she was also going into Canada even though we were not getting off the boat. ????
Will be back
Very informative ride on the Great Lakes, Lake Huron and Lake Superior . Seeing the Soo Locks and how they worked was great.
Tour guide exceptionally well spoken and details all of the ins and outs of the locks and surrounding points of interest.
Great Scenic Tour. Lots of fun for all ages.
Fun if it's your first time ????
Great tour for relatives visiting. Shows a lot of our old City. Woohoo 350 yrs old 2018
I only went for a tour, and did so during a weekday so the crowds weren't too bad. Very informative, my favorite part was the industrial shoreline at the Algoma steel plant!
It is a fun and informative boat ride through the soo locks
Easy to get a ticket tour was engaging
It is great ????
The tour itself was informative and enjoyable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, there was no enforcement of mask wearing or social distancing, despite the state mandate, which made the trip stressful as I had to actively avoid the people that refused to wear masks both inside the building and on the tour itself.
Great experience for kids and grown-ups! Clean, friendly, and the narrator (Steve, I believe) was awesome. I had done this as a child, but didn't remember the historical significance (even at WW2 implications). Great tour for a great price. Well worth your while if you're ever up that way!
Amazing
Nice
Good tour and narration. Worth the price.
Well coordinated tour. Very clean and informative!
Best experience with my wife by far. The Dinner and Cruise was breath taking.
Great information. Nice ship.
Some great details and views of the locks, some historical information and a ride through the locks up to Lake Superioe and back down to Lake Huron.
A very unique experience.
The narrator was wonderful.
My wife and I really enjoyed the Locks tour as part of an afternoon getaway. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The narrator on the tour was funny and an excellent story-teller. I strongly recommend the experience if you want an up-close view of this industrial marvel!
Even though we were delayed, they made it worth the wait! Told us about the ships we were going past, took us up and down the shoreline and it was amazing! Unfortunately Canada isn't playing nice, so we couldn't go into their waters or locks, but it was still very cool!
I cannot believe I grew up in Michigan and had never ridden the locks! Be sure to bring a coat, and buy the tour guide book!
I've been on many boat tours in Michigan, and this was my favorite. The guide was very knowledgable and the tour was just very awesome.
Very interesting. Must do in Sault Saint Marie.
Such a great tour of the soo locks
Always so informative and entertaining.
Tour is great very interesting and informative highly recommended.
Awesome, a must when your up north.
It was good, longer than expected. About 2 and a half hours. The only bad thing is it smells like fish.
Worth every penny
Very interesting and informational tour..had a great time
Highly recommend this piece of engineering tour. The guides were excellent giving us little pointers along the way.
Absolutely awesome!
Took the biweekly Lighthouse Cruise, and it was very nice!
Different views of the twin Saults
The tour was very beautiful and scenic, but our tour got delayed by 1 hour.
Yes!!! Do it!!
This is a very nice boat cruise. It goes thru the American and Canadian Locks. The local residents get to ride it once a year for free.
Staff took good care to keep everyone safe in the age of COVID-19; this is both entertaining and educational. I highly recommend!
My wife and I had an amazing trip today. The dinner was to die for and the dessert was wonderful also. Had an amazing experience with everyone on here. Kevin was awesome he knows his stuff and I talked to him for almost the whole trip. He told me he was going to be captain soon I wish him the best he deserves it for sure. His passion for his job/career will make him a very huge asset and I can see he loves his Soo Locks Tours career. Thank you all for an amazing trip!!!
Great tour!
Awesome as always even in a downpour
This was interesting and staff/crew is knowledgeable. They do a great job However, if the locks are busy be prepared for a long time on the boat. Our tour was over 2 hours long due to high traffic in the locks. They have snacks and restrooms available, but I am glad we didn't have another commitment afterwards because this took so much longer than we anticipated. Overall, it was interesting but got boring waiting for our turn in the locks and we were definitely chilled by the end of the tour so make sure you dress warmly! :)
A onetime experience! Online rate is $31 for older than 16 years.
Although it's expensive the tours are very informative and seeing the locks is an amazing experience. If you go to Sault St. Marie this is a must see destination.
Fun and informative.. very clean restrooms and the narration of history and sites was funny and informative.
Definitely something to experience while in the Soo area!
Very fun and educational at the same time. Had a nice snack bar(kids loved) and the crew was great!!
This tour is interesting and worth the price. The commentary is informative. You get to see more than just the locks
Definitely do the boat yours when you visit the soo locks! Although the viewing decks are free, going through the locks on the boat is a once in a lifetime experience. My teens loved it and they are not easy to impress.
Super fun the water rise and lower amazing
Did the fireworks cruise on July 1st, very unimpressed, only 8 minutes of fireworks and very little narration for the tour. Do not recommend!
You have to time your tour well if you really want to go through the US locks, but even if you only get to go through the Canadian side, it's worth the trip.
Great water tour for viewing the area. Our family's first time to the area so we found it interesting and informative.
This was way better than expected. If you're in sault ste marie and you're looking at the locks thinking, damn this is really amazing..spend the money and ride with these awesome people through that amazing contraption built by a group of people with a castle as their logo. They even had beer for sale. This was a great time.
The tour was so interesting. The staff were all polite, helpful, and informative. The vessel was comfortable with snack and drink options. The tour included parts of the river and both banks. Lots of fun for the entire family.
I was cool to watch the Lockes and the observation area was great. Check out the museum full of great information especially for kids to understand the ins and outs of the lockes.
Great way to see the Soo Locks - comfortable, clean boat with plenty of seating.
Great views of the Locks, and both Soo waterfronts. Highly Recommended
Just HOW did they build it all those years ago?
Thoroughly enjoyed the trip around and through the US and Canadian locks.
Expand your experience by going through the locks! You get to learn some great history too. Don’t forget to go into the visitors center. They show how it all works.
Excellent narration on tour. Nice staff to deal with. Well maintained boats.
The boat tour was a very enjoyable experience...
Loved this. Never seen anything like this. visiting from Florida. Informative and educating. Got some awesome pics
Close up view of an engineering marvel.
Could have done without the Political remarks. Biased comments are not appropriate on this kind of activity. Other that that it was enjoyable.
The tour was amazing from beginning to end. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable about the Locks and the surrounding areas. The entire staff was also so very kind and friendly to my service dog. The Captain was the best ever and it was really nice to chat for a few with him about his awesome job being a Captain. 5 stars!!!
Interesting if you're into it.
Very informative and relaxing
Very interesting
Second time going through the Soo Locks and really enjoyed it both times. The tour guide was funny and very well informed.
Very worth the $31 per online ticket!!! Definitely recommend
Very interesting and well narrated.
Very educational.
Ok First the fire works were great but the management was terrible. First they boarded family members after we were standing in line for 45 min. They acted like they deserved it. The man with the orange hat was rude and loud. We paid they didn't.I all for family but there is a time and place. I have been on this several times and I won't be back. What is the difference if we get on the boat and sit no we had to wait. The crew was just standing there drinking coffee and talking I guess that's more important. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THEM.
Just got a soda, was going to do boat ride too, but soda person so bothered by having to wait on us, decided not to get ripped off by them anymore. Asked for no ice in fountain soda, replied: "can't do that" and not very friendly the whole time. $3 for tiny soda.
A wonderful boat tour. We were on dinner pirate cruise. Food was good. Very interesting tour
Great Narration and a good way to see the river. Also shows the true inner workings of the locks. No real complaints with the tour!
Love it, love it! Highly recommend it
I never get tired of going through the Soo Locks . Everyone should experience it at least once or twice.
We had a perfect day for our tour and saw some amazing freighters come and go. Don't miss it.
This was really cool! Through the locks and short trips into the upper and lower St. Mary's River. Learned some things about the area and cane right next to a 1,000 foot freighter! Very interesting.
The best tour for seeing the pictures rocks
Nice tour, educational of the local area.
Absolutely awesome. Great time and interesting narration. Really lots of fun. A must do if youre in the area. Knowledgeable staff enhanced the experience and the snack bar was a plus as well. Pro tip - sit on the port side of the boat for the best views, especially if youre on the lower level.
We had a great time
I wish I didn't have to give them 1 star. We waited an hour to board in the hot sun. We were told they took credit for beer and water on board. It's cash only. After waiting an hour in the hot sun a little annoyed, the captain of the ship rudely said if your in a hurry this isn't the place for you. They tour was awful from beginning to end. We were the last tour of the day but this trip literally is NOT fun. Mono tone descriptions of a few old buildings and ships that's all this is.
Excellent. Friendly. Great food
Great people and guides
All is wheel chair excessable to the lower deck, bathroom is not wheel chair accessable.
Awesome
Excellent
Great tour, my grandkids enjoyed it almost as much as I did.
Take the tour from Dock #1. Awesome staff at this location. I was on the lock tour.
Did the last cruise of the season. Handy Nd easy website to purchase tickets then just showed my phone to board. Almost 2 hour cruise thru the locks, knowledgeable and interesting narration, that even some of the youngsters seemed to enjoy. Well worth the fee
This boat tour was really cool and unique. I highly recommend sitting on top; you can see/hear everything a lot better (though it is cold). You get to experience going through the locks with a humorous captain telling you the history and current projects going on.
Great weather! Great people! Great trip! Will definitely do it again :)
Very nice tour. ????
It was a nice ride down the river.
Great time great trip nariation. Fun for all ages.
Got to love the tour, its an experience to cherish. The tour takes you through the locks, provides you with rich information on the way. Wonderful staff, a great experience overall.
Fun & Educational
What a neat tour! I can't believe it has taken me until adulthood to make it here. We took the tour after camping at Tahquamenon Falls and making our way back to the northern lower peninsula. The tour company was very helpful and actually sent us to another dock where we nearly walked right on to the boat. I would suggest finding a seat near the left side. Bring a sweatshirt or a jacket.
Educational and the extra type around the Canadian waters is a bonus
Is was nice good food and great service as expected
great tourist event
Friendly staff and knowledgeable about Soo Locks History. Captain was fun to talk to. Crew knew their stuff. Made everyone feel welcome. Worth the trip!!
The experience of being in the American and Canadian locks
Very imteresting
Great value. Nice leisurely cruise to and through the locks. Informative narration on landmark areas as you go. Best view is from top left side of the boat though there are 4 open windows downstairs offer an alternative perspective for those wanting to avoid the wind and chill of the lake breezes.
Very nice package with Kewadin Casino's! Beautiful day for a boat tour.....historical!
Our tour went over the 90 minutes that were advertised. So we got our money's worth. Relaxing and informative.
We had a great time riding through the locks. The boat was nice and the crew knowledgeable. Wish we had known about the lighthouse tour before we got there, we would have totally done that!
Wow!!! This is a must do boat tour if you are in the area. It take you through the Soo Michigan locks, and around to the Algoma Steel Mill dock area and then through the Canadian lock. You just may get up right beside on of the 1000 footer freighters.
Really really good nice
Very nice, educational.
Upset we couldn't visit the Canadian lock because of Covid. However still a wonder to behold
Great trip worth the time!!
Simply an awesome place and an informative tour
Great tour, well worth the money
The tours are run by very nice people. The bolts are well-kept and clean. A bit pricey at $30 per person but it's a great way to see the Soo Locks.
????
Its a great tour, interesting and very informative, children seem to love it. Although it was more costly than i had anticipated, it was a fair price.
Love the experience.....
Outstanding. The locks are very historical. The narration was excellent. The whole experience was well organized, the boat was maintained at the highest level, and one of the most professional crews I have experienced.
Very relaxing and informative. The crew was very nice.
Very informative and interesting tour. You get to go through the Canadian and American locks. Prepare for all sorts of weather... We experienced rain, heat, cold, and comfortable weather all in the two hour tour.
Great experience!
very nice tour
What an amazing experience. The huge ships and barges down to small individual passenger boats are efficiently processed through the massive locks and at no charge.
You have to do this. We saw a1000 footer leave the locks with 5 feet clearance on each side The boat needed a little grease to get out.....loved it.
Had a awesome time on there tour. Lots of information given by the crew. Got some good views of Algoma Steel that I wasn't expecting. Tour was above and beyond what I expected
We had a good time in this tour. Went through the locks and saw some sites like a train bridge that opens for boats, a steel plant and power plants.
An incredible tour conducted by a gracious Captain and crew. We loved it!!!
Very intetesting
Great tour priced tight.
Employees were the best
My husband and I with our three boys were customers at your dock yesterday! I am so happy that we did not book your tickets for the boat ride. The display we seen in the parking lot was horrible. One of your employees were screaming and yelling obscenities from your building door at this blonde woman as she was exiting the building. This is no way to run a business!
Excellent experience. Friendly staff. Very educational.
Great experience. Allow about 2 hours. Very educational with a detailed live narration by a crew member. The crew, including the captain, are more than willing to answer questions and are very welcoming. Passengers are able to bring …
Amazing time
Even in the rain! Very cool.
I would not recommend this tour if you have young children or if you are on a schedule. The boat arrived for our tour 1 hour late. We were told at check in that it would be 30 minutes late and then we’re never updated that it was going to …
It's a little long but it's a boat ride thru the world famous Soo Locks. Where you can touch the wall as the boat is being lifted and or lowered. Not many places in tbe world where this can be done.
Great time. Our tour was supposed to last around 90 minutes but lasted a little over 2 hours.
We had a great time. Captain Larry was a pleasure to meet.
Very informative and an absolute pleasure. Will do it again.
It was very informative and interesting.
Very friendly, Captain was very knowledgeable about the soo locks and surrounding areas. Would definitely recommend for people to take the tour.
Great tour. Very knowledgeable people.
It was a fun tour. Great guides and we learned a lot!
Great experience
We enjoyed a 2 hour tour of the locks from the soo locks boat company in mid August. Fortunately it was a perfect weather day. The staff was very friendly. There are drinks and basic snacks available for cash. Recommend getting in line as …
Great tour..they did a great job , respecting the mask laws.. great history !!
Great staff.....Better food and neat to go thru both Canadian and American Locks on same cruise. A must do if you are visiting the Upper...…….
Did this tour for the first time when i was in 7th grade.. Loved coming back to Michigan and being on the water. Tour guide was great!
The tour was Awesome. Took our Granddaughter with us. Tour was very nice, about 2 hrs, and got to see another of the locks and surround area. Well worth it.
Must do have fun
Very nice great captain
Great tour. Beautiful views
Great tour of the Locks on both the American and Canadian sides. Truly an engineering marvel. You get a history lesson too of the Locks and surrounding Sault Ste Marie area.
Was the Best Boat Tour Ever
It is a very good tour! We had a great time!
Vary cool seeing ships in the locks
Interesting. Staff friendly & knowledgeable
Great
You should inform ticket buyers that the tour does not enforce social distancing or mask wearing. Today I spent two miserable hours trying to find a safe spot on the boat.
Loved it.
Very educational great place to take the children
Really awesome and informative tour. Nice snd cool too after a long hot summer.
What a great thing to do. Loved the staff. Great prices in gift shop.
Great time. If you come to see the locks, and dont take the tour, you are missing half the fun..
Didn't actually have tour this time, but I did when I was a kid in 70s was awesome ????
Fun trip thru the American & Canadian Locks !!!
The boat ride was ok...we got stuck for 2 hours waiting for a huge ship to pass through the locks.
The Soo Lock Boat Tour was informative. Most of the 1 1/2 hour tour was spent going through the lock. Once was enough.
We went here with family and enjoyed the trip through the locks and the narrator with his many stories of the area.
Great experience
Pleasant and informative tour.
We had a good time doing this in the midst of covid. Wish they better enforced the mask rule though. Be prepared for it to possibly take longer than 2 hours depending on ship traffic, which they can't help at all. Very informative crew and great history lesson.
Awesome!
Gorgeous day couldn't have been better
Simply awesome
Great ..do not miss this incredible experience..
Relaxing and informative
Had a wonderful time on the tour. Because the borders are closed, means so is Canadian waters. Once you go through the locks the tour has to turn around, you may have to wait on other ships. It is neat to see a large freighter come through. Our crew was very informative and professional. Would go again.
Very fun and informative!! And you can go through the canadian side of the water/locks without needing a passport. Barges are ALOT bigger here than on the Missouri or Illinous Rivers. It is VERY worth it to come here.
Did the Famous Soo Locks Boat tour and it was excellent! Highly recommend. Educational, enjoyable & even relaxing. You can see the Canadian side close and easy, and can take photos of.
Standing down wind of these diesel- fumes-belching and air poisoning tour boats is dangerous to public health and chokes us up.
Outstanding trip. Highly recommended.
We did this tour on a beautiful September day and really enjoyed it. It takes about two hours and covers a lot of territory. You start below the Soo Locks and depending on the use of the locks, you see things in different order. What was nice is that the narration is not a recording, but a real person reacting to what you are seeing. We saw the harbor area below the locks with close up views of the Canadian side and then up the American side. We then passed though the American lock, and then got a up close look at the steel plant on the Canadian side, before passing through the smaller Canadian lock. The boats have bathrooms and snack bars, although what you are seeing is so interesting, there is little need to eat or drink. It is well worth the $30 ticket, and if I lived closer, it would be a yearly must do.
We did the locks tour. The information that you learn and too fully understand how the locks work was amazing. We would highly recommend doing this, it is well worth the price and the time. You definitely get more than what you pay for. And a little insight go on Friday as they call it freighter Friday and you will see a lot of them.
Great place to view ships passing through the Soo Locks. Great small downtown to walk through with a great selection of shops and restaurants.
So cool, went "up lock" to Lake Superior on the American side and "down" lock back toward Lake Huron on the Canadian side. Guide was very informative and all crew members were willing to answer questions.
The owner operator was wonderful!! Great selection of merchandise friendly staff !!Thoroughly enjoyable experience!!
Awesome, everyone needs to go on this.
Awesome
Interesting tour of the locks. Well worth the money.
Very interesting excursion
What a great experience!
Very interesting trip and occupied our 6 year old granddaughter fairly well even.
Very friendly staff, very educational. I would love to come back again next year
Going through the locks is neat, but after that the boat tour is a little boring. I honestly don’t think it’s worth the price for what it is. The crew is knowledgeable and nice.
Excellent place to stop and check out!
Loved the history that was shared on this tour. Super informative and educational.
Great place great people ????
Nice ride. Information/guide was good
Glad we took it. The cabin was heated which was nice on a chilly fall morning
Overall very interesting. Don't expect it to be scenic but it is a good experience.
We took the boat tour and it was an nice experience. Friendly staff. We really enjoyed this. Will be back again!
This was my 3rd time and I still enjoyed the informational ride. We were able to see the railroad spin across...which very neat
It is so fun to go thru the game locks. Touring around the harbor and venturing into Canadian waters without a passport.
It's incredible to see this marvel of science, technology, and engineering! The Great Lakes system is a natural wonder and, for a Michigander, a big part of our lives. It's amazing to watch and feel the boat rising and falling while in the locks. It's crazy to think that in recent history the only way to get from Superior to Huron was to get out and carry everything around the rapids that connects the two lakes. Enjoying the Great Lakes should be on everyone's bucket list!
Very interesting, goes through the locks and the Algoma steel mill
I was a very fun and informative tour my kids and I had a great time.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Had a great time.
Amazing!!!!
Good stop off point to get to our end of trip. My brother left his car there until we visited and then drove the rest of the way. It saved some miles and made the trip more relaxing!
Very nice tour and good food
Took the family my son really enjoyed it. He is seven. I found it to be very informative. The lady who was the guide was a sweetheart and overheard my son's interest in rock hunting. She had brought the captain over to talk to my son about rock hunting in the UP ????
1st time going. Very interesting and educational. Had fun.
Amazing!
All around great trip.
Great way to experience a true Modern Marvel. You can experience how the locks work first-hand, watch real Lakers at work (Great Lakes Merchant Vessels and Cargo Ships), see the beginning of steel production first hand, the world's largest and oldest Jack knife counter-balast rail bridge (still in use, built in 1913!) And....Canada. You can see Canada. Very cool and perfect for a nice day. Well worth a visit!
If you haven't done this tour it is a must!!
Everyone needs to do this. You learn a lot.
Purchased tickets but arrived 8 minutes late so missed the boat. They were generous and refunded my money.
Great tour, my family enjoyed it!
Very informative. Fun to go through the canal's.
Wonderful 2 hour boat trip through the Soo Locks.
Nice trip to explain the locks and how cargo is transported through the Great Lakes.
Great place to learn some state history.
We go to the Soo Every Summer, The Soo Locks Boat Tour is Always on our to do list.
I'm really glad the wife and I decided to take this tour thru the locks. It was cool to see how fast the water raised our ferry 21ft. It was a nice tour and they sell beer, soda, popcorn etc.. on the ferry. Approx 90 mins. Friendly and …
It was interesting. Alittle pricey.
Great tour
After years of never going I've done this 2x this summer. Love it! So much information! Each time a bit different. So enjoyable. Will say kids get a little antsy. ( 7, 10 and 12).
Wish we had brought heavier jackets for the kids! Narration was just right - information was perfect at the Steel mill - answered so many of our questions. So glad we got to experience both the US and Canadian locks.
Loved it.
Fantastic experience with an awesome venue!
Awesome!
Lots of information and a unique experience.
Tour was okay, as advertised. There is only one lock, not sure I learned much from narrative.
Awesome trip through soo locks and into Canadian waters. Cool view of lift & swing bridges. Very informative.
Lol they barely have any things
Well worth the price for this tour.
Very informative. Captain very knowledgeable. Great views from the top.
Love the fireworks show! - staff was nice and friendly - wish we could have been out in the water for the show like Mackinac Island
Fun for the entire family
Amazing way to see the locks
Awesome
Excellent way to experience the Soo Locks! Well worth the money!
Enjoyed!
Very neat & totally worth it!
Wish they offered dinner cruise.
Great front desk and solid advice. Told us in advance about 5 bus tour group who would be sailing same time as us. They were able to accommodate everyone.. Had 3 boats ready to go..never felt overcrowded! They clearly know ehat they're doing. Great tour guide - addressed everything before we could ask.. Gave fascinating history of Locks and of both U.S. and Canadian Sault Ste. Marie cities!
this is fun
It was very informative for why the locks were made. It was cool to go through it.
We reserved a dinner cruise for a friday night and the tour got canceled a couple days before. However, the manager Steve more than made up for our inconvenience. We ended up doing just a regular tour. Super awesome customer relations and nice tour
Very informative boat tour. Great way to see the locks.
Enjoyable and informative 2.5 hr trip through the Soo Locks. Knowledgable guide and narrator. Friendly onboarding and dockside personnel. Great view of the locks and description of their operation and history. Did not get to do the dinner cruise but next time it will be on the agenda for the sunset views.
Great learning experience for kids.
Aeesome
Very Cool
Great tour of the Locks and falls. The captain went out of his way to show us several freighters passing through, and the tour included a lot of history. Highly recommend this boat tour thru the locks!
The captain and crew did not enforce the governor’s mask mandate. Just know that about half of the “tour” is spent sitting in the locks breathing the boat’s diesel exhaust.
This tour takes a while but it has a great view and is informative
Paid full price for a tour that used to go to the Canada waters but once on the boat they told us we couldn't and we would be turning around. It wasn't bad but that was a disappointment.
A little slow bit educational for MI. and Cand.
Wonderful tour! Well worth the money. Very interesting and relaxing! The 2 hours went by quickly! You won't be bored. We loved it!
Awesome to watch boats come in and out and water goes up and down
A bit pricey, but a nice tour. Would do it again.
Pleasant staff, very informative boat staff, well worth the price
Had a great time
Many times I have blown off this tour thinking it would be boring! Far from true! It was awesome! It wasn’t just a locks boat tour. It was so much more! Very educational! Thank you!
My wife and I are Soo natives but haven't lived there for over 40 years. We try to get back every year or so for a visit and periodically take a tour on the yellow boats of the Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours. We had a wonderful tour last week, which included my son and daughter-in-law. The whole tour was as great as usual, but we especially appreciated the narrator, Deidre Stevens, who turns out to be a local historian. She was very friendly and professional. I highly recommend Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours if you are interested in taking a relaxing, informative and close-up look at the Soo locks!
Love it
Need to do for perspective of the experience! If you can't tour the Panama canal, here is the small version. Well priced for the time spent. You go in & out of locks both ways. Informative guides.
Always worth a stop to watch the frieghters pass through, the boat tour is a must at least once
This is a lot of fun! If you want snacks you will need cash. It's a great tour.
A little pricey for what it is, but enjoyable. The boats are old and seating can be uncomfortable. Bathrooms are in desperate need of updating. Food and drinks are available on the tour, along with dinner cruises.
Highly Recommend! Crew is very informative and friendly. My 3 year old loves Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours, we just went on the fireworks cruise, the price and view cant be beat!! Will be returning soon for my sons 4th birthday!!! So much fun!
Very educational to tour through the engineering marvel. Tour guides were very educated and informative. My recommendations: sit on the left side of the boat, as close to the front as you can get. All of the things that the narrator talked about were on the left side. Get on at Dock 1 for your choice of seating. Dock 1 loads 15 mins prior to Dock 2, on the same boat.
Awesome
Amazing!
Really enjoyed the tour!
Fascinating view of the locks & how they operate. Very interesting.
We enjoyed a calm and narrated 2 hour tour going through the MacArthur lock on US side. Then we swung around to the Canadian side by the Algoma Cental steel mill. The Federal Delta, a heavy haul freighter built in 2018 locked thru on the Poe lock at the same time. We saw the Valley Camp, a freighter and museum and the Bush Pilot museum on the trip back to the pier. We rode the Le Voyageur on this trip. The crew was great and easy to talk to.
Fun interesting trip. It is a two hour boat tour through two locks.
Our kids had fun and we all learned something!
Great Experience! Great Boat Crew! the crewlady doing the PA information was awesome and very informative. we went up the Canada lock and back down the the Poe Lock. What an amazing Trip. The steel mill was a bonus. very interesting. Must Stop while in town 2 hours of your time well spent for sure!
Great time, great information about the locks.
Definitely a worthwhile trip!
This was a really good time and a wonderful way to understand how the locks work. We took tons of pictures and the crew was very knowledgeable.
The tour guide/narrator was phenomenal. The amount of history mixed with knowledge of current shipping vessels and businesses that we saw was amazing. A must do when you are in the UP.
Neat tour!
Closed for the season
My dad and I had a lot of fun on the tour. It really is spectacular! Would recommend. I was a bit sketched out because the website looks out of date, but it all worked out.
Excellent tour...guide was so knowledgeable and experienced. Captain was great...chatted with us and signed our book. Great tour!!!!
Plenty of space on the boat. The 90 minute tour is very informative. It was fun
Very informative tour, a must do experience.
Loved it. It was a great tour
Excellent, super fun, very educational. It's fun to see how the locks work. The tour boat goes through the locks & we saw two ships go through.
Super ride, good crew, excellent narration!
I enjoyed hearing about the history of the locks while enjoying a leisurely ride.
Had a fun boat ride
Nice peaceful day. Learn about Soo Lock.
Really great experience. Just gets a bit chilly out in the water so be prepared.
A good 2-2.5 hours of sitting back, and enjoying the views. Bring a pair of sunglasses and a windbreaker/sweat shirt if you want to sit in the top deck and enjoy the best views! While this is not exactly an "exciting" tour, it is nice to see the local sights from the water, with bits if extra info added. It was actually a very nice break from walking around and looking at stuff. The fact you got to pass through the locks, both the USA ones, and the Canadian ones is a plus, even though it can be a bit of "dead" time waiting for your boats turn. Overall, an enjoyable time for the $$$.
We were told 1 and a half to 2 hours. It was over 2 and a half hours. The second half of the tour was sitting in a bay looking at pollution and construction. I learned more and appreciated the lockes more just at the observation deck. The boat tour was not needed. The snack bar was inexpensive and nice, they also serve alcohol which was a plus.
Lovely tour of the Locks! Really enjoyed it????????
Soo locks is the reason why people go to the upper Michigan
We took the soo lock cruise and it was great
It is what it is, to each its on..
Very informative and enjoyable
Great narrative by the captain and the young woman on the 12:30 boat 9 21 20. Loved the information and presentation. Can't wait to bring family! Great job!!
Great tour at a very good price!!
Such a disappointment saw a total of 2 lighthouses. When I tried calling to inquire about their prepackaged box lunches either noone answered the phone without an answering machine picking up or returning a phone call when I WAS able to leave a message. What a waste of time & money!
so much more than we anticipated. a must do when in the Soo.
