Just got back from a guided 4 day/3 night kayak trip with PRSK and it was an awesome time. They were always great at answering my emails about trip planning, had everything ready for us upon arrival and our guides, Kyle and Erica were great. Awesome, healthy and unique meals and knowledgeable staff. My family had a memorable trip!

The staff was helpful and friendly, our kayaks were ready to go when we got there. The port-a-potty was really gross - it was VERY VERY full.

Kayak rental and all employees were very nice, but the owner of the establishment was very unprofessional and extremely rude. Very disappointed because everybody else was kind and helpful, just leaves a bad taste in your mouth when the owner is the opposite. Also, I am writing this under a friends account as you seem to be black listing customers who write bad reviews.

Good selection of kayaks and well-maintained equipment, a stunning place for sea kayaking... but the customer service... oof! Really hit and miss. Some employees were really nice and helpful, but one woman (who I was told was the owner!?) was really rude and standoffish. She should probably step back and let her employees take full charge of customer service interactions because she is not doing her business any favours when she snaps at you.

The kayaks are good but the staff is not helpful at all. Ok I know with covid they have those new policies, but not helping to bring the kayaks to the beach or not be able to give an advice about a kayak route is a bit too much. We had to ask for help many times, my friend didn't have a safety paddle on her kayak, and the poor map they give you costs $5. Even renting a dry bag was painful (apparently using a card machine is complicated). Unfortunately there are the only place you can rent kayaks to go to desolation sound

Did a great tour in the fall. It was our first long distance kayak tour so we showed up the night before to do an early check-in so we were more prepared for the morning. Everything was set up ready to go. Get some great advice from the staff. No problems with any of the gear for the week long tour. Couldn't have asked for a better spot to start a good outing.

Excellent and personable service - they outfitted our large group of 12 paddlers for the Canada long weekend. Their team has put a lot of effort into safe COVID protocols and were extremely responsive, helping our group prepare for the trip in a time of high uncertainty. 5 stars for desolation sound but 6 stars for the PRSK team!

Have just returned from a 3-day self guided kayak trip in Desolation Sound, renting 8 kayaks from Powell River Sea Kayaks. It was an all round great experience. Their online booking system works well. I also got good service and advice over the phone. When we arrived in the morning, the kayaks were all laid out on the grass ready to go. Briefing was nice and short - they trusted that we knew what we were doing. It was nice they came and helped us carry gear on our return as well. Emily was especially friendly/helpful.

We had an incredible time on our 4 day tour in Desolation Sound. Our two guides, Kyle and Alex, went above and beyond to ensure that guests had the best experience possible. The meals the guys prepared were excellent -- especially given that everything had to be kayaked in to our camp on Kinghorn Island. I could not recommend this experience, and our two guides, highly enough!

Great staff and excellent service in a stunning location. We recently did a self-guided 2 night paddling trip in Desolation Sound and we rented kayaks and equipment from Powell River Kayaks in Okeover. Our group was mixed experience and none of us had ever been to this area before so I called Powell River Kayaks a few times before the trip to talk to them about the route planning, campsites, and weather. They we're always incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. We had a problem with one of the kayaks and their staff handled it quickly and professionally – I would highly recommend them. On the days that we picked up and dropped off the equipment the experience was great!

Top service. Josh is an exceptional employee and great guy. We rented 3 kayaks for a few hours to explore the waters around Okeover. Josh made sure everything was perfect for our adventure and checked in with us again when we returned. I would highly recommend using this company to explore Desolation Sound.

Great custom service great from Powell River Sea Kayak - punctual at returning calls, answering phone, and responding to annoying trip planning questions. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only negative experience I had was being discouraged from landing on Kinghorn Island by one member of staff who claimed that it was entirely private. While PRSK own the resort they don’t own the whole island and there are wilderness campsites on the north end.

Kayaks are fine but the staff is not welcoming and they’re certainly not helpful. Apparently they have this “policy” where they can’t help getting kayaks in and out of the water. The double kayak was too heavy for my wife and it really seemed to bother them to help me bring it back to the grass area. They didn’t suggest any cool spot to check out, they kept insisting on what not to do and when we should back for, they charge a full day even for a few hours (they were happy to tell us that they got rid of the half day pricing), overall it just felt like we were a nuisance instead of customers. We loved everything about our trip to Powell River except from renting Kayaks at this place.

Staff was very knowledgeable, let us know which route would be best with the kids and where would we see the most sea life ("The Aquarium" route). We came across about 30 seals lounging on the rocks and swimming around us in the water (a little scary)! The kids loved it, and so did we although we were exhausted after 5 hours of kayaking. We had 2 doubles and 2 children who attempted to contribute to paddling, but we ended up doing the most work. Would advise to bring water shoes (or buy them at the office) as any beach you stop at will be rocky and we had a few barnacle/oyster injuries. Still was the most enjoyable activity we did on our holiday!

This outfitter has nice kayaks and equipment. The owner was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area. The staff, however, were not very polite or friendly, both with me and with the customers who arrived before me. They were unnecessarily standoffish and confrontational. Staff were also inconsistent with instructions and information. I probably wouldn't rent from this outfitter again unless I could only go through the owner who was very pleasant and professional.
