My now wife and I went to old port travel to book our dream destination wedding with 36 family and friends. We did not have a good experience. Upon our first meeting, the agent was quite personable and sold us on booking with her. She then asked for a 250 dollar deposit to begin looking at resorts and venues. She was quick to help us narrow down our resort, but told us we should wait to book our group booking because the price would get better closer to the date, but said we had better book our wedding venue at the resort right away because they fill up quickly. Which we thought was backwards, but went ahead at an additional 250 dollar deposit. At this point we were roughly 1 year and 2 months away from our desired day. In the following weeks / months the agent became difficult to get ahold of and anytime we did said to continue to wait because the price would get better. It then came to 10 months to our booked wedding day and the agent called saying the trip had gotten more expensive and it was filling up so we should book it now. We were upset and felt she had strung us along to raise the price of our trip to increase her commission. When we parted ways, we should have asked but received no offer of refund of either deposit and months later received a call from the resort wondering if we were coming for our wedding because the agent had not cancelled it. The agent we finally booked with, at another travel agency, gave us a gift on our first meet, took no deposit and thought it was strange our precious agent had. Our experience with the second agent was everything we expected from old port travel and didn't get. Maybe it would be a better experience with a single or couples get away or smaller group booking, though we would not recommend thier services or expertise.
