We recently had a trip on the Bella Desgagnes from Rimouski to Blanc Sablon and all I can say is it was FANTASTIC!! We really didn't know what to expect as we didn't know anyone else who had done this. The boat was modern, clean, food was gourmet ++, shore trips very interesting ++ A chance to explore a part of Canada that few get to. Such fun to watch cargo (even our car) being loaded on the boat in containers.

(Translated) We had traveled from Laval - Sept-Îles and we had taken the trouble to ask three times if a parking space was provided to leave our car while we were going to Anticosti. We were told that it was and it is listed on their website. Unfortunately, once we got there, an hour before boarding, the parking lot was closed and no one was sure why. We had to call last minute and finally take the risk of leaving our car at the SAAQ for 5 days. It was incredibly stressful and none of the employees were quite sure why the parking lot for customers was suddenly closed. We almost missed the boat and had to run with 50lbs of stock to the dock. Very unpleasant / stressful experience. (Original) Nous avions voyagé de Laval - Sept-Îles et nous avions pris la peine de demander par trois fois si un espace de stationnement était prévu pour laisser notre auto le temps que nous allions sur Anticosti. On nous a répondu que c'était le cas et c'est inscrit sur leur site internet. Malheureusement, une fois rendu sur place, une heure avant l'embarquement, le stationnement était fermé et personne ne savait trop pourquoi. Nous avons dû appeler de dernière minute et finalement prendre le risque de laisser notre auto à la SAAQ pendant 5 jours. C'était incroyablement stressant et aucuns employés ne savait trop pourquoi le stationnement prévu pour les clients était soudainement fermé. Nous avons faillis manquer le bateau et nous avons dû courir avec 50lbs de stock jusqu'au quai. Très déplaisante/stressante expérience.

The Bella Desgagnes provides a unique and relaxing way to tour the St Laurence River and travel to Labrador and Newfoundland. Before railroads and highways, packet boats and mail steamers carried passengers and cargo to villages and towns along the shores of the Great Lakes and the eastern seaboard of the US and Canada. The Bella Desgagnes continues this tradition serving 12 ports along the St Laurence River and gulf. The ship carries cargo along with tourists (and their vehicles) and residents and visitors to towns along the route. Layovers at each stop provide plenty of time to explore the villages and talk with the townspeople. The ship is relatively new and offers an array of cabin accommodations, a restaurant and cafeteria. The crew is knowledgeable, helpful, and available to answer any questions about the unique towns visited during the week long voyage. I recommend the Bella Desgagnes to anyone interested in exploring Quebec, Labrador and Newfoundland and trying something different than the typical cruise ship.

The staff are cheerful and efficient. We loved Captain Hémart. If you have the budget for a panoramic cabin (3 windows) do not hesitate. It's worth it. The view is sublime. There are only 2 cabins so located at the front. (Original) J'ai adoré ma croisière d'une semaine à bord du Bella Desgagnés. Les villages visités sont authentiques et déconcertants. La nourriture a bord du bateau est délicieuse. Poisson tous les jours et fruits de mer fréquents. Le personnel est souriant et efficace. On a aimé le capitaine Hémart. Si vous avez le budget pour une cabine panoramique (3 fenêtres ) n'hésitez pas. Ca vaut la peine. La vue est sublime. Il n'y a que 2 cabines ainsi situées à l'avant.
