My boyfriend and I really wanted to learn how to roll a kayak so we took this course. I was so nervous of not being able to accomplish the roll but James was such a pro! He helped us each with different activities which builds up the skills needed and very soon both of us were able to roll on our own within a couple of hours! I would highly recommend OSKC it is such a great place to learn and the instructors are very knowledgeable, patient, and friendly!

The Lake Superior trip I took with OSKC this summer ranks up there as one of my all-time favourite experiences. I had looked forward to paddling there for a long time and am grateful to have been able to do it with superb guides and in such style. We ate (really, really) well, we laughed often, we swam and hiked and enjoyed spectacular scenery and sunsets. Kayaking on Superior was incredible and I benefitted from the paddling tips the leaders shared with me. There were a few times on the trip that we ran into unexpected challenges, where situations became stressful. In each of these cases, the guides’ professionalism, skills and experience made all the difference. I appreciated how Dympna and James managed the situations and made tough decisions in order to do what was best for group (and individual) safety. We were all very fortunate to be in such good hands. Overall, the positive memories from this trip completely win out; this is a testament to the planning, organization and then the hard work done by the guides while we were out on trip. Thanks OSKC for an awesome adventure!

I discovered OSKC when I was first thinking of getting into kayaking in 2018. Since then I’ve completed my Level 2 and ventured out on a guided trip to Newfoundland – I couldn’t believe I had gained the skills needed for that in just two seasons of paddling! Owners/coaches/guides James and Dympna are kind, patient, incredibly knowledgeable and are always excited to teach. If you spend even one day on the water with them you will be hooked for life!

I had a great experience when taking my level I and Level II paddle Canada course through Ontario Sea Kayak Centre. The organization is extremely well run. The staff and instructors were patient, helpful, extremely knowledgeable and passionate about sea kayaking. The prepared food was fantastic and OSKC goes the extra mile to help individuals and meet their different needs. Highly recommended.

Spent an incredible week at OSKC for the Level 2 kayaking course - learning new skills, improving my existing skills, learning navigation and identifying weather patterns. It was a tough week but also a rewarding week! Dympna, James and all of the instructors are incredible. They challenged me, supported me and kept me safe. (Translated) We had booked for a kayaking day trip in advance as requested on their website to be sure a guide would be available for our day. We received their confirmation by email that everything was correct. A deposit was taken. on our credit card. In the morning, we got there a little before the scheduled time. No one to welcome us. By phone we were informed that "no guide was available for us so we wasted our day." Very disappointing and for us unreliable (Original) On avait réservé pour un Day trip de kayak à l'avance comme demandé sur leur site pour être sûr qu"un guide serait disponible pour notre journée. Nous avons reçu leur confirmation par e-mail que tout était correct . Un dépôt a été prélevé sur notre carte de crédit . Le matin , nous nous sommes rendu un peu avant l" heure prévue . Aucune personne pour nous accueillir . Par téléphone, on nous a informé qu'"aucun guide n"était disponible pour nous alors nous avons perdu notre journée. Très décevant et pour nous , peu fiable

This is THE place for kayak instruction and inspiration to develop solid technique. The instructors are uber-experienced but remain very humble. You'll be surprised how fast your skills will improve with the support and encouragement from these instructors. You'll leave wanting more!
