Popped into The Pedaler for a morning ride…had quick but careful sizing of helmets and matched us up with bikes quickly to have us on our way! Such a luxury to have a rental service like this so close to the downtown core! We were able to enjoy an ocean-side ride with our two kids (10 and 13), who loved the freedom only bikes allow. Highly recommend the Hoppy Hour tour. Brynn was very knowledgeable about both beers and cycling around Victoria. An easy cycle, and got to sample craft beers from Spinnakers, Moon, and Sean's. Food pairings complimented the beer. Great way to spend an afternoon.

Our tour guide, Ian, was great! Informative and good storyteller. I love bike tours as an introduction to a new city. We visited cultural and historical sites and several neighborhoods in our 2.5 hour tour. No issues with bikes. Highly recommended.

Went in to get my bike fixed, needed a fair amount of work, i told them my budget was $200, they said should be no problem, went in to get my bike the next day they listed the things replaced, including front tire rubber and the tire tubes, as well as fixed my brakes, opun the first test spin around the block i realize my back break isn't working and is squierting fluid,, i take it back, the mechanic says he forgot to put a screw back in and couldnt find the screw, He took the bike overnight again to fix the breaks, i show up the next day, he can not fix them, I was still billed for the time and parts though, after later inspection at home i realized neither tubes were changed, and my front tire was a previously used tire, it had a split in the side of the rubber and the tubes were still my old tubes with a patch on them. I feel very scammed from this shop and will never go back and will reccomend against this shop to anyone who asks. For $200 they basically just filled my tires and put a patch over the leak. 2 weeks later and everything fell apart. Do not go here

We learnt so much about the city, history, founders and architecture. Our kids 7 and 12 loved the experience. We rented one tandem and two bikes. Price are reasonable and service is Covid proof ! Everyone at the Pedlar Bike Shop was so kind, informative (and patient with my cyclist husband who wanted to test ride all the tandem bikes before selecting ours. Insert eye roll here...) With hubby being an experienced rider, our trip up to Butchart Gardens was a highlight of our week in Victoria. The lowlight was the next morning when we discovered a wheel had been stolen off Pedlar's tandem (from inside the locked, hotel parkade cage!) The Pedlar Staff - particularly Charles - couldn't have been more accommodating. Another shout-out to Noah who is clearly a hard working and knowledgeable young employee. Pedlar's is lucky to have him and Victoria is lucky to have Pedlar's!

We rented a tandem bike to explore Victoria. We had a great time cycling from James Bay to Oak Bay. We covered a larger distance. Cycling gives us the option to explore the beauty of Victoria more quickly and efficiently. The staff and owner are super friendly. They are cycling enthusiasts themselves. They gave us helpful tips on how to use the bike. Price wise, this is probably the most reasonable rental price we could find.

For the last few days my gal and I have been riding E Bikes around Victoria and area. We were able to get 2 from Pedalers, the took time to explain each of the bikes and allowed us to keep them over night. They gave us a travel bag for the chargers, at no extra cost. Such wonderful staff. We rented 2 tandem bikes for the day, and the staff were a big help. They were very helpful to get us on the bikes and even had a map for us, because we asked them what the best route was to the places we wanted to go to. They showed us the route and we were off. The bikes were also right outside when we got there, and there was no wait to get us on the bikes. The location was great, right next to the parliament buildings. Would definitely come back here and would reccomend it for all ages. (They have trailers that you can pull young kids around in too!)

1st impression is great. Considering who the target market is, price isn't really an issue - the fact that the space is not cluttered with too many bikes is very good. Like a quality shop, there should be enough space to easily turn a bicycle around and not knock anything over. The tune ups being done to the used rental bikes isn't hidden away, making it easier for staff to notice customers. Having the work area raised allows for the visual cue that it's for staff only. Not sure what it's like on a rainy day, but having the bikes outside and lots of space, allows for the customer to check if the bike is right. The grounds are well kept as expected. With a cute little pond at the entrance (part of Hundintion Mannor Estate - 1 of Victoria's major historical sites)

Ilse gave such a wonderful tour! She told us stories about the history of the city, was very safe on the roads, and took us to delicious places to eat and drink. She was a treat to be with. Great tour from The Pedaler!

Disappointing... We got a safety lecture at the start about streetlights, crosswalks, etc., then shortly after the guide took off across the middle of a street in front of a parked bus. While trying to shepherd my kids across (not at the crosswalk), a car flew around the parked bus, nearly smeared my youngest, then cursed at us for not using the crosswalk. I understand the driver's frustration... we were not at a crosswalk, but we were trying to keep up with the guide. This freaked out my not-so-confident-on-a-bike daughter... when we finally caught up, the guide seemed a bit put out at the delay and pointedly asked whether we were ready to continue, making my kid feel like she was holding everyone up. Shortly after, she decided to call it quits. We dropped out and walked back without the group. We returned the bikes early... the proprietors were not even curious why we returned early. The bikes were well maintained and the helmets didn't stink, so they get a star for equipment.

Super fast service and friendly people. I really like this shop and this is the second time I have been here. There bikes and helmets are cleaned daily and they will give you a lock as well as a handle bag for your things. We rented bikes at about 11am and were given directions to Sea Cider (25km away). Such a cool ride and the scenery is amazing. When you show up at Sea Cider on a bike, they give you a free 2oz glass of cider. We will be back again!

The service was very friendly, the bikes were perfect and the price was right, Charles even kindly gave us a 10% discount as it was winter/Christmas season. We went on the Coastal E-bike tour and the Hoppy Tour and both were amazing. We learned a lot about Victoria on the Coastal Tour and really enjoyed visiting the micro-breweries on the Hoppy tour. Both of our guides were friendly and very knowledgeable. We highly recommended Pedalers as a great way to enjoy Victoria. Nice find! Terry is super nice, helpful with route suggestions and flexible on rates in terms of you pay for what you use. Tutorial on how to use electric bikes was thorough. Helmets in good condition and a nice handlebar storage bag to carry wallet, phone etc. After 20 minutes of riding, one of our bikes had a minor squeak so we called. They pedalled right out with a replacement! Electric bikes are SO much fun, worth every penny over traditional pedal when touring (not a workout) is your plan.

Had a really fun bike tour through a good chuck of Victoria. Our guide Alan gave us great info, especially on Native American history as he works with a Victoria based organizarion that seeks to preserve their culture. Highlights were the ride through the cemetary where you see tons of beautiful stags and deer, chinatown, the world’s second tallest totem and the loop through Beacon Hill Park. Pace was great and the Pedaler in general has a really awesome and friendly staff. Helmets were clean and bikes in great shape! Would go again for sure and most definitely do recommend????????

Best way to explore a city

I rented an "All Road" bike from The Pedaler for a 4 day bike packing trip. The bike was a Norco Search which is a good and reliable bike. At $210 for the 4 days, I thought the price a little expensive but I had no other options. At the end of the first day of our trip, a spoke broke on the front wheel and the rim bent so it was rubbing against the fork. The next morning we took the bike to be repaired at a shop in Duncan. The bicycle mechanic there told us that the wheel showed signs of extensive previous damage and was in desperate need of replacement. He fixed the wheel as best he could and we were able to finish our bike trip without further problems. When I returned the bicycle to the Pedaler, I informed them of the trouble with the bike. Charles (the owner, I assume) reduced my rental price to $100, covered the cost of the repair and told me he would be ordering a new wheel for the bike. While Charles' response to the issue was fair, I would suggest double checking that the rental bikes have been properly maintained before going out on a multi-day trip, especially given the price premium for the "all road" bicycles compared to the regular hybrid city bikes.

Beyond impressed with this shop. We walked in and were able to be outfitted with bikes. The owner gave us route options and a map and we learned it was the perfect was to explore Victoria. The owner lent us gloves and even knelt down on the ground to get the perfect angle to take our group photo. The bikes were really nice and the price was unbeatable. Definitely use this shop!

We had a fantastic time exploring Victoria with our guide, Richard, on the Castles, 'Hoods & Legends tour!! He was so personable and shared some really interesting information - you can tell he really loves the city! It didn't at all feel like a script, but like a conversation with friends. The shop is located in a beautiful area of the Inner Harbour, so it has the added bonus of being a great place to take pictures. The bikes were also great quality and we felt very equipped for the ride. Richard even gave us the option of making it more challenging in certain areas, which was really fun! We would highly recommend this tour and company to everyone, and are very excited for the next time we can take a tour with them!!

We rented 6 bikes and followed a suggested route made by the shop. Was about 21km and took a couple of hours at an easy pace. Amazing! The service at the shop was really top notch…customer centric and friendly the whole way through. Saw the same with another large group when we were returning the bikes. The route had great variety…seaside…residential with grand old homes…community retail around Oak Bay….gives a great sense of what Victoria is all about. Would definitely recommend this shop to anyone visiting Victoria and wants a fun way to see some of the area. Good job!

We came to the shop about an hour before closing and was going to rent bikes until they close, the shop keeper was super helpful! She made the transactions smooth and fast, checked our bike to ensure they are in good condition and even lent us gloves in case we got cold! Rented 2 bikes and the experience was awesome. Excellent condition bikes, no issues, gave us basket, helmets, everything that you would need to make your bike trip easier! Very great prices (around 10$ the hour, depends en bike). Very helpful staff!

Highly recommend! We rented two bikes from the Pedaler for a day trip to Butchart gardens. Had an awesome experience. Hospitality from the owners was great. They gave us the rundown on how to get to the gardens and back along with a few alternate routes and what to do if we missed a turn. They also gave us typed instructions and showed us a map that we could look at while we biked.

This bike rental place was located right downtown Victoria, the staff was super friendly and they thoroughly cleaned the bikes and wanted to make sure you were comfortable and happy with your bike before renting it. Definitely recommend renting from here if you’re staying in Victoria!! Prices were very fair.

I would give them ZERO STARS but I won't be able to post. I don't believe that on the island I will experience prejudism most specially a place close to the parliament, but just a few minutes ago we were at the bike rental. We were 2nd in line and the white male staff started helping us and then asked us to wait as there was someone just returning their rental. It was fine and another white staff came to help us but in the middle of it he started helping other white costumers. I thought I was the only one who noticed it but my mom did too and when she came back from using the hotel washroom, the white guy was helping another white couple. I decided to leave and before she left cause she was thinking same. My mom went to talk to him and told him them what they have done . I hope that asian people will not experience what we just did.

Great tour on electric assisted bicycles. Our tour guide Ilse was great and kept a nice pace and was knowledgeable about the local landmarks.
