My friends and I had the three nights winter package with North Star Adventures. Even though we only saw a little bit of aurora at the very last night, the experience is incredible. These fantastic memories are all thanked to our amazing tour guides, Shadow and Kobie. During the tours, their enthusiasm exaggerates the atmosphere. They are also very knowledgeable about where to hunt the light and the city. I also would like to appreciate the hardworking drivers, Randy, Joey, Archie and Joe who gave us numerous of safe and sound rides. Believe me, it was hard to drive on the snow and ice especially in the dark nights where there is no much street lights. Finally, RuRu, the office manager also did a great job on helping us to book the flights, accommodations and activities. Without their service, my friends and I won't have such fabulous experience. THANK YOU!!!

I joined a 3-day aurora full package from Oct 1 to Oct 3. It included a city tour, a aurora teepee camp, and two aurora hunting tours. It was definitely one of the most fantastic trip in my life. Both the tour guides (Jane and Crystal) are energetic and professional. They will lead you to the best places to see the aurora and help you taking lots of amazing photos. You will really be influenced by their enthusiasm. Additionally, they can speak Mandarin and Korean, so don’t worry about the language. The drivers (Joy, Yo-yo,and Pat) are also experienced. They drove smoothly and safely. By the way, if you have wonderful nights and you don’t bring a camera, you can also buy the USB package from them. I strongly recommend North Star Adventures !!!

i joined aurora hunting tour on 18th jan . Although extreme cold weather was, Guide Kobie provided enthusiasm and passion against the low temperature. Also, she taught us how to stargazing and the principle of Aurora and always checked where is the Aurora going. We have been to at least 6 spot for hunting Aurora, Kobie always look outside when the coach is moving. And special thanks driver Joey, he pleased to answer any question.

I strongly recommend you to attend their Aurora Hunting Tour than other staying type watching tour. Because Aurora is not easy to catch and recognize by non-expericence guy like me. Their assistants are always beside us and help. Also they have enough skill to take Aurora photos and they take the very beautiful photos with high-functional camera then provide the photos to us. (first some photos are free). I was so happy to choose this tour.

My tour with Joey (driver), Kobe, and Crystal was fantastic. It was great to experience such an intimate view of the city. As Joey is a long-time Yellowknife resident, he was able to offer tidbits of information that I likely wouldn't have found out otherwise. I was also super appreciative that Kobe took photos and was able to send them to me as my phone died rather quickly due to the cold temperatures. I would definitely recommend North Star Adventures.

Had a really great time and experience at Yellowknife thanks to them! My friend and I booked the aurora sightseeing tours and dog sledding activity. During the night aurora hunting, our cheerful and bubbly guides - Kobie and Shadow really helped to keep us alive and awake at -40 celsius. Crystal was very helpful during the dog sledding activity and helped us to take pictures and ensured that we were kept warm. Also, the drivers, Joey and Randy are very knowledgeable about the area and are more than happy to share their experiences. Randy even stopped the van to let the guests look at ptarmigans! Due to the weather conditions, two of the activities - the snowshoeing and snowmobiling had to be cancelled. However, special mention to Jane who corresponded promptly to us regarding this matter and helped to arrange our itineraries. Thank you!!

wife and I signed up for this tour and were impressed with the hospitality and knowledge of our guide, Kobie and the local knowledge of Joey our driver. They took us to where they believed would be the best place to see the Auroras and we were successful. Kobie’s hot chocolate and maple cookies helped with keeping our energy and warmth up on a very cold night.

We are so happy to book the whole adventure with them, We did the Aurora Hunting adventure for 2 nights, Aurora Teepee Camp tour 1 night, and Snowmobile Wilderness Tour. We had an Indigenous Culture tour with Joe and Kyle and they were both amazing guides. Very friendly and welclming and had so many interesting stories and knowledge to share. We had an incredible time snowshoeing and learning about their traditions and culture. Definitely a great way to spend our second day in Yellowknife, cannot recommend them enough!

My friend and I came to Yellowknife to photograph the Aurora and take that off our bucket list. We chose North Star Adventures as our guides and are thrilled we did! We had 3 nights hunting Aurora and one city tour. Our first night we had, Joe (the owner) as our driver with Chet as our guide. They did an awesome job of helping us find and photograph the beauty. The next day we did a city tour with Linda and Randy. Again, we were struck by the genuine guides and wealth of information. That night Julia and Pi did their best to find a clear sky in the midst of blankets of clouds. Unfortunately, there wasn't a break, but we learned a ton about the Aurora from Pi and a lot about the area from Julia. Pi also did a great job keeping us engaged in creative photos lacking the ability to see the Aurora. Last night we another tour with Pi and Julia and this time they found a break in the clouds! Pi can spot stars that a normal human eye would miss. When you combine that with Julia's knowledge of hidden gems locations, we had a wonderful experience. Our only regret... We didn't get a picture of the four of us together. Thank you all for a wonderful experience! I'm going to try to make it back for summer where you say these wonder 4.5 aurora will get even better.

September 15 – Aurora Tour This night, our driver was Joe and the tour guides were Crystal and Jane. Unfortunately, it was a rainy night and we caught only a small glimpse of the Aurora. Joe kept driving until he came to a location where the rain did let up. Crystal and Jane took pictures of guests when the lights were visible. They served maple cookies and hot chocolate and entertained us with tales of the town and the Aurora. September 16 – City Tour Our driver for the City Tour was Joe and our guide was Jane. We were taken to points of interest including Bush Pilot Monument, Wild Cat Café and others and Jane took pictures of guests at these sites. They told us the best places to shop and to eat. Joe told us the history of the town and its people. The tour ends at the Visitor Center within walking distance to the major hotels. Each member of the tour receives a “North of 60” certificate and a gold Yellowknife pin to commemorate their trip. It would be a great idea to take this tour early in your stay so that you know the best places to visit on your own. Jane was a perfect hostess. September 16 – Evening Teepee Tour Pat was our driver for this excursion while Jane was our guide. The weather was fair that evening with only light rain but we did get to see some Aurora. We spent some time in a tent where we were treated to native snacks including bison meatballs, caribou jerky and char as well as more common treats like juice, hot chocolate, s’mores and cookies. Again, Jane took pictures of guests with the Aurora and got the guests to interact with each other doing “light painting” when the Aurora was not visible. Pat talked about life in Yellowknife and showed everyone some of his personal artifacts. Everyone had a great time. September 17 – Bison Tour Our driver was Pat while Brenda and Jane were our guides. Partway into our tour, we stopped for a light lunch at a picnic area at North Arm of Great Slave Lake. We saw 2 bison individually, and then a group of 7 including the Big Guy and a mom nursing her calf. It was quite an experience. Brenda took a lot of great photos of guests with the bison in the background while Jane assisted. Pat shared stories of his days driving to the Arctic and back. Very interesting and fun for all. September 17 – Aurora Tour The best night of our week! Joe was our driver once again and Brenda was our tour guide. After a slow start, the Aurora appeared and was visible much of the next hour and a half. During a minor lull, Joe would drive to another location and would promptly find a place to stop when he heard the guests alerting him to the fact that the Aurora was gaining strength once again. Brenda did a fantastic job taking a lot of great photos with the stunning green lights in the background and kept everyone moving to get as many photos taken as possible. The Aurora came through later than usual that night but Joe was tracking its movement on an app and was willing to extend the length of the tour so that everyone got their fill.

My daughter and I joined the Aurora Teepee Camp Tour with Crystal and Randy as our guides in March 2020. They were very friendly and experienced. The teepee was very warm despite -30C outside. Randy prepared some hot food and hot drinks for us. Crystal is an excellent photographer and she took many photos for us. She also took time to show me how to setup my camera, Randy taught my daughter how to use her phone to take aurora pictures by ourselves. This is the best experience in Yellowknife trip. Highly recommend to everyone.

We just arrived in Yellowknife early this morning and had booked the 3 hour snowmobile tour for my son and I, and it couldn't have been better. Randy and Shadow picked us up at our hotel, got us the needed winter clothing, and drove us out to the wilderness. We started off learning how to operate the equipment, then cruised around on our own before taking a break in their hut on the lake to warm up with some hot chocolate and cookies. Next we traversed through some trails to other lakes, more solo time on the other lakes, then back again. Randy even got some great footage of my son and I racing across the lake. I recommend this tour for anyone, it was a memorable experience.

All tour guides/drivers- Jane, Sherry, Pat, Brenda, Crystal made sure that we were always comfortable, and tried their best to chase the lights for us. (We saw them three nights in a row!) We joined the three night Aurora Hunting tour, with a city tour and a hike. We enjoyed every bit of our trip and would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to have a great time at Yellowknife. I signed up for the Aurora Hunting Tour with North Star, and I had a great experience. The tour guide is an expert in hunting aurora. They drove us to different location to ensure that we can get clear sky to see aurora. They also stopped the bus whenever there were signs of strong aurora appearing in the sky. Overall, I felt the money I spent was worth it. Definitely would go with them again!

Dog Sledding: Absolutely AMAZING experience. Prior to arriving in Yellowknife, I had done loads of research on various tours. It was important to me that I find a dog sledding tour that treated the dogs well as I had a negative experience in Quebec that seemed to be more interested in making money than authenticity or treating the dogs well. Through the research of ALL dog sledding tours, I decided on this one and am so happy I did. They picked us up from our airbnb, brought us to a cozy (WARM!!!) log cabin and told us about the dogs and the run we were about to do. We were provided with googles and extra warm gear if needed. We got to meet the dogs, learn their names and about their personalities, take pictures... get attached to certain ones (haha... I loved "East") This is a family run business, very intimate setting, where they shared stories of generations past, the role of dog sledding and what it was like growing up in this environment. There was unlimited hot chocolate and tea provided around a wooden table after the 25 min (aprox 4 KM) run with the dogs, who were super friendly, happy! And very lovable. (Note: this was the longest dog sledding run of all the companies I looked into). They also gave us fresh Bannock (traditional bread) with butter and raspberry jam (Delicious) while listening to Scott tell stories and answer any questions we had. It was so interesting, I could have spent an entire day (or more) there. I absolutely loved this experience, to the point it almost made me weepy! If looking for an intimate, friendly, interesting, AUTHENTIC experience, I highly recommend choosing this tour. Special heartfelt thanks to Scott, Taltson, Kobie and Joe... your knowledge and personalities *made* the experience ... and did I mention that they provide professional photos of your experience for FREE

This Tour is definently woth the experience, unlike any other experience youll find in Yellowknife for the Aurora Borelias lights. This tour was well handeled, by the best 2 tour guides I had a pleasure of being toured by. Crystal an Kobe such sweethearts they were so kind and had an upbringing attitude that made this trip so memorable. they had a smile on there face and was so positive cheering people on as we were going to chase the lights Joey as well our driver was so friendly he was a great fit for this expeince also. We went from ine spot to another going multiple places till we found the lights. When we found the lights they were more excited then us! They were happy to be able to show us the lights an wanted to take pictures for us it was so pleasent and so surreal to see those lights up close its MAGICAL an breathtaking in ways that cannot be explained. It was such a wonderful experience Joe the creator of this tour was so delighted to see people doing this you can see the love an passion he has for this company. We didnt feel like customers from the driver to our guides to the owner it felt like a big family reunion thats how amazing it was so if your thinking about doing any tour look no further there willing to go out of there way to help in any way they can. As I am writing this review we literally had finish and put the bihgest smile on my face thats how amazing this tour was! Also thank you guys so much for making my 26th birthday so memorable Thank you for the company and other tour people on this group who sang happy birthday this will be the most memorable birthday I will ever have. I visited there to see the aurora Now is low season, bad weather none the less guide and driver so work hard because they showed the aurora to me the guide name is ruru and ash? aksh? I forgot the driver name next time if i have a chance I will visit north stars adventures again thank you
