Whale watching with Skipper Bob was the BEST! The entire team at Eco Tours was friendly, welcoming and relaxed. We learned lots, had an amazing time with the humpbacks, watched the bald eagles, and enjoyed every minute out on the water. We also warmed up after our tour with the best homemade turkey soup for lunch. Best experience with great people!
Trinity Eco-tours exceeded my expectations by a huge margin! Skipper Bob understands Wildlife very well and has a very eco-sustainable approach. Bob is extremely patient and ensured that we spend quality time with whales. He also knows the nesting sites of Bald Eagles and other sea birds. Interestingly he gave me enough time to make photographs, strategically positioning the zodiac! There is no doubt that the best way to see Whales and wildlife on the Canadian East coast is by Zodiacs, and the zodiacs he uses are state of the art! I highly recommend Trinity Eco-tours and lodge!
Really nice places to have a quick breakfast
(Translated) Amazing service, with little care with us. Full breakfast provides, 2 eggs, 1 choice of meat and toast. Combo room and tower available and it's worth it. New room all in wood, very clean, seen on sea. Thanks a thousand times for the wonderful stay.
Went for breakfast, great service. Friendly staff, good food. A must if in Trinity for Breakfast.
The boat tour is one of the best experiences you can have.
My wife and I had an amazing time on our whale tour today! Our guides were so friendly. The tour being on a small boat made the experience much more personal and enjoyable. They didn’t have a script or set plan they had to stick to so it was easy to just go and find whales. They left it up to us if we would prefer to enjoy the coastline or focus solely on whale watching. We saw two full breaches! The Humpbacks were very playfully flapping their fins, rolling over, and showing us their tails. We also saw several Fin Whales and Minks. It’s the best whale tour I’ve done and I would highly recommend this.
Beautiful B&B in the heart of the village. The rooms are super cosy and comfortable. Skipper Bob was helpful and friendly. We went on a boat tour around the bay which was a great experience. We loved it!
Great place to stay, homecooked breakfast and a nice central location.
Stopped in sometime in the afternoon for a bite to eat. A little hard to recognize as a restaraunt as the only signage out front talked about the eco tours. Was clean and nicely laid out. Looks like there is space for live music entertainment. Menu was reasonably priced and food was quickly served. We had the moose burger and seafood chowder. Burger was juicy and chowder was hearty. Both were flavourful.
My wife, daughter and I (ie our “family-bubble”) had a wonderful tour with skippers Bob and Chris yesterday. The sun was out, and so were the icebergs, eagles, puffins, and whales! The guys have done a great job adapting to the new-normal, keeping the tours engaging and informative but maintaining all the COVID friendly protocols you’d expect. Give them a call!
This is an amazing place to stop in for some breakfast! The ladies working here are adorable and help to create a great atmosphere.
My partner and I had such a good time kayaking with Trinity Eco-Tours! We had a kind of lousy day (weather-wise only) in terms of Northern winds, but Chris (our guide) was awesome! He talked us through different routes and let us know his thoughts. We saw some lovely sights and had a great time!! Would DEFINITELY recommend - well worth your money!
(Translated) Very beautiful town, loge is a 140-year-old building room is not very big but quite clean, the first floor is the restaurant and rest place. The whale tour here is particularly famous, but it is a bit late to wait until June to July, but it is still very comfortable to live here, and the temperature is convenient for transportation. Also, the pea soup is delicious!
The crew at Trinity Eco Tours and Lodge are some of the nicest people we’ve ever met. We did the whale watching / zodiac tour, kayaking, and ATV tours, as well as a 2 night stay in the lodge. All of the tours were so personalized and exciting with experts in whatever we were doing. The rooms were beautiful and cozy and offered a great night’s sleep after a day of adventures. The food was great for breakfast and lunch, as well as baked goods after the tours. Huge thanks to Cindy, Crystal, Abby, Troy, and Darryl for a fantastic weekend, we will definitely be visiting again!
We spent a couple of nights at the lodge and a morning on a whale-watching tour. The lodge was very accommodating and well located to explore more of the Bonavista peninsula. The hosts were very welcoming and kind. The rooms aren't large, but very comfortable. The tour was fantastic, despite the very wet weather. Lots and lots of fin and humpback whales, along with eagles, puffins and caplin. Well worth getting on board.
Enjoyed a nice casual lunch in the cafe - my first moose burger. Learned a lot about living in NL from friendly conversations with the staff.
Absolutely wonderful staff, always felt like I was being taken care of, and incredible trip on the water even in suboptimal conditions! Thanks so much to Captain Barry for the great trip this time, can't wait to meet Skipper Bob next time I'm out! Will definitely be back ????
They are excellent
Took a boat tour with Bob. Had a great time! Saw humpback and Minke whales as well as over a dozen bald eagles. Very friendly and knowledgeable.
I stayed for one night a few weeks ago while doing some work in the area. The lodge is very quaint, quiet, and cozy! Of course, being the off-season, Trinity was very peaceful and I had the whole lodge to myself! The lodge is in a beautiful location, just a few feet from the water. My room was the Orca room; the bed was super comfy and it had a nice bathroom as well. I loved the wood interiors and the rustic feel of the lodge overall. In the morning, I spent a few hours working on my laptop in front of the window, enjoying the nice view and the peace and quiet. I highly recommend staying at Trinity Eco-tours Lodge!
Great breakfast and service!
This is a great place to stop and visit and if you can go whale watching if possible. We went at the end of the season and we had a great time.
We booked a whale watching tour and stayed at the Lodge. The rooms are clean and quaint. We needed 3 rooms for our family of 5. Patsy was a delight. She welcomed us at check in, ensured we would have snacks if need be overnight, and was welcoming with coffee in the morning. Skipper Bob was so friendly and flexible. He discussed the weather and its impact on our boat trip. We were able to alter plans and have the most amazing whale tour! Skipper Bob also played guitar during breakfast. So perfect! We will have to return since my boys loved the moose burger and I must try Patsy's cod cakes.
Staff was friendly, coffee okay but muffins microwaved.
Loved it
This historic old lodge may be smaller but it punches above its size! Clean and comfortable rooms lacking nothing and the service and food were great. Highly recommended. We will be back again next year!
Beautiful place
We loved it .. great day on the water, saw lots of whales, porpoises, a seal, eagles, sea caves, lots of birds. Staff a friendly, .. it felt safe and thrilling at the same time.. will do it sgain
Skipper Bob truly is the best to give you a fantastic experience of the bay! We were lucky enough to catch a quick sighting of a minke whale and some dolphins when we were out of season. He also gave us the sweet treat of fishing a little and taking some extra time out on the sea
Captain Bob provides Knock Your Socks Off Service! We hired Trinity Eco-Tours for our family of 5 to go iceberg hunting this past spring. Not only did Captain Bob take us out to see 4 magnificent icebergs, he harvested some bergie bits with his bare hands right out of the ocean for us to take home! When came in from our 4-hour tour, we all enjoyed some yummy moose burgers at the lodge! Captain Bob and Trinity Eco-Tours has our highest recommendation! Don't miss the opportunity to go on an adventure of a lifetime!
Great and knowledgeable people to take us out on the ocean. Highly recommended!!
I lived in Argentia, Newfoundland 50 years ago and saw a couple of whales chasing the caplin to the shore via binoculars. I never saw them like I saw them today. We were able to see multiple whales today along with a congregation of eagles. Skipper Bob was very knowledgeable about the local area and where whales might be. He is quite experienced in getting close enough for us to appreciate their majestic size and grace and far enough to ensure safety for all in the boat. I was able to capture some great photos of blows and fins. I heeded Skipper Bob's advice by bringing a plastic bag to cover my DSLR camera until we found the whales. The bag protected my camera from being sprayed with salt water, as there are a few times we got to feel some salt water. :-). I highly recommend the Trinity Eco Zodiac tour...well worth the money for a great memorable experience. Thanks Bob! Terry LaCombe 8/14/2017
We stayed at the B and B for two nights and had a marvellous time. Room was clean and very comfortable and the breakfasts were great. The staff were super friendly and eager to help with any questions or requests. Trinity is a wonderful place and well worth a visit. If you are really lucky, as we were, one of the guests will have a guitar and you can enjoy a patio party. Thanks to Cindy and all the staff.
My wife and I went out with another couple and Skipper Bob on a beautiful morning. We were fortunate enough to see eagles, puffins, and several humpback whales. The scenery along the coast line looks like something out of Game of Thrones. Overall it was a life changing experience that I hope more people can try out. Also, a renewed appreciation for the impact of single-use plastics in our oceans, and their detrimental impact they have on the wildlife. I would highly recommend Trinity Eco-Tours to anyone wanting a unique and beautiful day on the water, and the accompanying wildlife and scenery that comes with it. Also, Trinity (the town) is beyond incredible and worth exploring.
Great trip and crew !! Saw more puffins than ever before. ???? Whales too.
Skipper Bob is the real deal! He went way out of his way to take us to the best and biggest icebergs well past the time we were to be out. In addition on our way back his keen eye spotted whales and even though he had given us so much of his time he stopped and let us enjoy the whales. If that wasn't enough I had inquired about where I might get a traditional Newfoundland meal and he arranged to provide it at his B&B. I can't say enough good things about Skipper Bob and Cindy for making it by far one of the best travel experiences I have had.
Did two tours in the same day with this company and both were very well done. ATV tour in the am, followed by Whale watching in the pm. Both guides were very knowledgeable and professional. Covered a surprising amount of ground on the ATV tour, and there was no shortages of whales seen while out on the boat. Highly recommend.
My wife and I walked into Trinity Eco Tours to the sounds of Skipper Bob strumming a guitar in the corner of the restaurant. An old school Newfoundland cafe, with captivating photos of previous tourists on the boat having the time of their lives, we knew right away that this tour would be tailored to give us the greatest experience on the water in Newfoundland. We were not disappointed. The race along the water, suited up with the company's immersion suits, felt like the great chase... a true adventure. Skipper Bob provided great conversation while we searched for whales, puffins, bald eagles, a sea cave, and some historical landmarks. We sat in awe as humpbacks breached their bodies over and over again, and watched their great tails make their push to the bottom to feed. This tour is worth every penny, and this company is invested in your experience. Thanks Trinity!
We asked Captain Bob to do a virtual whale watching and iceburg tour, and they were both hits with our audience. Without hesitation, I would ask Captain Bob to host another session when the need arises.
Very friendly staff.
(Translated) We made a detour to Trinity specifically for the whale watching boat tour. We arrived the day before because the tour was at 9am the next morning. At 8 am, we were called to cancel the reservation because they had not filled the boat !!! They refunded us with no problem, but it was really unpleasant for us to have to change our plans at the last minute.
We did the guided kayak tour this past Sunday morning. Even as locals to NL it was fun and adventurous, learning about the area, the wildlife, and exploring some fun surprises I won't spoil. Definitely recommend.
This was one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had. The skipper was fun and really knowledgeable about whales, the rugged coastline was jaw-dropping and we were literally surrounded by over a dozen giant humpback whales. Magnificent!
They want to make sure you don't miss anything.
So friendly!
Amazing whale watching experience up close and personal with the whales. The skipper was extremely informative and knew an amazing amount about the subject matter, namely whales and the ecology of the local areas. I definitely recommend this tour over as larger boat tour as with this tour you are very close to the whales.
Our family had a time of our life whale watching with Skipper Bob and Eco-Tours Trinity last week. Seeing these beautiful animals in their natural habitat was something we will never forget. When we booked the tour with Eco-Tours we had no idea how close we will be to the whales and in fact we thought that we may not even be able to see them. But as soon as we met Robert and heard his introduction about the whales we knew that we were in extremely experienced and knowledgeable hands. Our two daughters age 8 and 11 had the best seats for the amazing show that the whales put on for us right next to the boat! Seeing the wonder, excitement and happiness in their eyes and on their faces during this magical boat ride was alone worth our entire trip from Toronto. We truly hope to come back one day!
Very comfy rooms, great breakfast is included and the most friendly hosts I've ever had in a hotel!
An amazing, friendly operation that knows the area, knows the whales, and knows the waters around the Trinity Bight. We did whales one day, ice bergs the next and finished our 3 nights visit with a guided kayak paddle around the bay. The B& B was cozy, comfy and laid back with Skipper Bob pulling out his guitar and a kitchen party would erupt! Great food there, amazing staff and the village was a treat as well. Wouldn't hesitate to say get your self there as long as you can - the up close and personal with those giant humpback whales, while drifting in your quiet zodiac is an experience you HAVE to do once in a lifetime.
My partner and I had such a wonderful experience on this tour! We went in what is typically the off season and got really lucky, we saw two types of whales and dolphins! The whole trip was exceptional, would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun adventure with a great guide! Highlight of our trip!
Our group of four had a fantastic experience on our 3-hour whale-watching Zodiac tour. We began by putting on survival suits that kept us all warm and dry, and really helped to cut the wind. Our skipper, Troy, was very capable and friendly, and made sure we and the other family of five were comfortable at all times. I had imagined that riding in the Zodiac would be choppy, but it turned out to be extremely smooth. Troy pointed out puffins and gannets, and over the course of the ride we saw several humpbacks and one minke whale. One of the humpbacks even gave us a show by breaching and circling around in midair, before splashing back down into the water. When we got back to the wharf and out of the survival suits, there were muffins and hot beverages waiting for us. All in all, I would highly recommend Trinity Eco-Tours, and Skipper Troy in particular.
Skipper Bob and kayak Chris are fantastic guides and created an incredibly memorable experience. The whale watching tour was phenomenal and the sunset kayak tour was so peaceful; a wonderful way to wrap up a day of adventures. The accommodations are perfect; charming rooms, a comfortable bed and a delicious breakfast included (thank you Cindy!). If you're looking for a place to experience Newfoundland hospitality, this is it.
Missed seeing whales but overall a awesome experience seeing an iceberg up close. Thank you Skipper Chris and Crew.
Skipper Bob and his crew are very welcoming, knowledgable and friendly. I spent 2 very comfortable nights at the lodge and the breakfasts were very nice. I went on a morning whale watching trip and despite being very grey and foggy was very enjoyable. There was more Bald Eagles than you could shake a stick at or my camera and watching the gulls catching sometimes 2 or more capelin was very entertaining. The whales were most likely having a lie in but eventually, we saw several minkes. All in all a very good trip and I have no doubt I will return
Amazing saw so many whales !!!!
Amazing tour and fabulous accommodation. Thanks to Bob and the staff for a wonderful day and night.
Really enjoy my stay here .. Theater group was amazing
We have just returned from a 2 week drive around Newfoundland and stayed at the Eco Lodge for 3 nights during this time. Cindy and the rest of the gang were more than welcoming and made us feel like one of the family. The lodge was homey and was a perfect base for exploring many of the attractions and hikes nearby. We also took the whale watching tour with the very knowledgeable Skipper Bob and were lucky enough to see a humpback breach. The tour was executed with both the tourist and whales in mind (no chasing!!); which was a positive experience. Trinity and the Eco Lodge were the highlight of our stay in Newfoundland and we highly recommend staying there if you want an authentic experience with genuinely friendly, funny and kind people.
We really enjoyed this tour! While we didn't see any whales (our own fault, we came at a transition period), Skipper Bob did his best to make the trip enjoyable and took us to many beautiful coves and beaches, shared lots of history and was able to point out many birds. And we saw the elusive sun fish which was exciting!
This was an amazing whale watching experience Skipper Bob is knowledgeable and ensures his clients receive a memorable trip
Trinity Eco tours and Lodge are incredibly. Zodiac, kayak and atv tours are educational and a beautiful experience. The staff are incredible and the food and accommodations are amazing.
Great trip out even with the rain. Well worth it. Saw whale feeding on caplin, eagles, icebergs and beautiful coastline.
The lodge was lovely! Cozy and very comfortable beds. The included breakfast had many options and was delicious. The pancakes were THE BEST. We did the ATV tour with Cliff and it was very fun! But beat of all is the women who work there, especially Cindy! She was very accommodating and delightful to deal with!
Well this was just a highlight of the trip. My wife has never been so excited in her life. From seeing our first puffins, to watching 7 humpbacks in a cove catching bait, but the piece that made our day was the whale that spent the whole time on his back slapping his fins and tail. So amazing and will recommend to anyone.
Stayed in the minke room for one night. Bed was very comfortable and the room had everything we needed. The hosts were very lovely and provided us a to-go breakfast as we didn't have time to stay for sit down breakfast and it was perfect! Location is right beside the water and Trinity was a beautiful town to walk around. Highly reccomend!
We stayed at the lodge for one night recently! The place is awesome with comfy rooms, friendly staff and delicious food! We even lucked into a kitchen party in the evening compliments of Skipper Bob, Bonnie & company! Next time we will take in a whale watching tour ???? Gary & Dallas
One HUGE difference between Trinity and those tours operating within an hour of St. John’s is the length of the tour. It is a full THREE hours, which means that once whale(s) are spotted, the captain can linger for a long time, patiently waiting for the whale to do something cool. Other pluses include small boat operation (up to 12 passengers only), thermo overalls that are also water-resistant (not provided at all on the tours close to St. John’s, because they don’t ever drive that fast). We did the tour on July 26, 2019. Within half an hour we encountered a humpback, and the captain followed it for a WHOLE HOUR! Even though we didn’t get to see the cooler stuff like breaching, we did see enough dorsal fin and fluke, at close enough range (hard to judge the distance in the open sea, but I dare say within 100 m), to feel really excited and grateful. We did see other stuff like a whole island of bald eagles, countless puffins, cool sea caves, and a group of dolphins too. We saw the dolphins in the last 10 minutes of the tour on the way back, so the captain made several rounds but did not linger for too long, which is totally fine with us. Because we were here to see WHALES, and we did, at close range, for a LONG time! Yay!!!
Such a nice experience! Was the first time for all of us but we rode it like pros. This is because Bob explained the fundamentals to us very well! I'll do this a thousand times!
Great tour guide! He was such fun and spotted whales well before the rest of us in the boat. Even my kids who were a little hesitant about the boat and size of the whales enjoyed themselves. Wonderful experience!
Warm staff. Delicious breakfast. Conveniently located. Charming rooms. Very clean and quiet. Great stay.
Amazing experience.
We had an absolutely amazing experience. The ATV ride through the loop was breath taking and seeing two moose very cool. We didn't see whales, but the zodiac views were stunning. Thanks to Darryl and Mike.
We went on 2 boat tours and ate lunch at the lodge. We saw lots of whales, eagles and caplin rolling in the beaches. The tour guide was awesome and the food was great !! Can't wait to go again next year! Definitely recommend this to anyone! Loved it!
These are great people! We had a mooseburger (excellent and great value) then went whale watching with Skipper Bob. He put us on lots of humpbacks! The zodiac is the only way to go.
Nice cozy spot
Great breakfast and light fare... wraps, soups. Would revist without hesitation!
Wonderful! Love this place! Awesome people.... So welcoming. We go back every year.
Amazing tour!! Messaged them on Instagram to ask a few questions before booking and they responded very quickly. The tour itself was incredible - lots of whales and birds to see! 110% will book another tour ❤️
Nice rooms. The whale watching boat tour was lots of fun.
Location was convenient, room was clean, with a big TV, hosts were friendly, breakfast was included.
It was good
We headed out today with Skipper Chris for our first ever Boat Ride. There really isnt enough good things to say about the entire experience in Trinty and with the Eco- Tours crew! We went at 1pm and didnt return until 4 and it was a beautiful day! Lots of whales showing up, puffins flying by and even 4 or 5 Eagles flying over! We will for sure be back again and soon! Make this tour part of your Stay Cation this year, you will not regret it!
(Translated) "Unfortunately only short visit to Trinity" Unfortunately we were only one night in this accommodation. But we would like to have stayed longer. We had booked the Blue Room in the attic. The room is large and offers a lot of space. As a special highlight, the room offers a small balcony in which we have fallen in love. It offers a magnificent view over the bay. The bed was comfortable, but we would have preferred a king bed. The night includes a breakfast, which was prepared with love and was very tasty. Unfortunately we had to continue. It was very difficult for us to separate from the room.
Environmentally conscious and safety-oriented whale-watching tours. Highly recommend.
The zodiac eco tour was incredible! We saw humpbacks, fin whales, and many puffins. Captain Bob was fantastic and brought us right along side the whales- totally breathtaking. We stayed the night at the b&b in the blue whale room, a cozy yet spacious room with a balcony over looking the bay and town. If you’re planning a trip to Newfoundland, Trinity is a must. We will definitely be coming back!
Only visited for breakfast but a great place to eat in Trinity to get your day started!
Our family of 4 had an outstanding experience tonight with Captain Bob and Linda. We saw over 11 whales and had amazing up close and personal experiences with these magnificent gentle giants. As if that wasn’t enough, the scenery was breathtaking itself as well. Captain Bob and Linda were so personable and delightful and made this the adventure of a lifetime for us. We will definitely be back again! The Free family :)
