Sea of Whales is an amazing, authentic, peaceful adventure! Chris is a third (at least) generation whale expert in the area and treats every guest like a family member. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area and has a sense of where the whales are. He was filled with fun tidbits that were interesting to both kids and adults. And the cookies he bakes are DELICIOUS! There are other options in Trinity Bay, but Chris and Sea of Whales are the way to go - this coming from a very judgy New Yorker.

We spent two weeks traveling Newfoundland in summer 2018. Sea of Whales Adventures was the highlight of our trip! Shawna and Chris were very professional and friendly. On the trip out to Trinity Bay, we encountered numerous orcas, fin whales, humpback whales, puffins, and had beautiful views of the shoreline and Trinity. Chris explained many details on the animals' behavior and patterns as he expertly navigated us toward close-up views of these amazing mammals. We very much appreciated that he always respected the animals by keeping a save and respectful distance while still offering us spectacular access to them. We cannot wait to do this tour again and to see and learn more. We would recommend everyone seeking a once-in-a-lifetime experience to take this tour. It is stunning and will be a long-time memory!

Had a 3-hour tour this morning on Chris’s zodiac boat and loved it! We spotted 5 minke whales and had a beautiful encounter with a humpback. We got quite close to the whales and especially the humpback and saw its knobbly head lunge feeding. Chris is a knowledgeable, kind, hardworking captain who does his best to give the best experience to his customers. Highly recommended!

Greg humpback, Gerard fin, Rebecca minke and Tracy Humpback whales were awesome to see! Our guides Cory and Chris were great at pointing out whales initially until we developed our spotting eyes! Chris provided the play by play facts associated with whale watching and navigated the waters effortlessly. A fantastic 1st time experience. We'd go back for sure.

This was by far the best whale watching tour ever, and we've done a few in BC and other places on the globe. It was the highlight of our vacation in NL, and we'll definitely be back to see the whales with Chris! He navigates the sea with confidence, knows all the nooks and crannies, and most importantly, where to find the whales. We were extremely lucky to see a family of orcas, see them swimming towards us and checking us out! Not long after, we were surrounded by a herd of humpback whales, and then we saw 2 fin whales. Amazing! Most importantly, I was impressed by the deep respect and love Chris has for whales, and nature in general! Not to mention his continuous efforts to share information, and make sure we have a great time. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get up close and personal with these amazing creatures.

Amazing experience! We drove from St John's for this boat tour because of the rave reviews and were not disappointed. We saw multiple humpbacks (tails slapping, fins waving, and many breaches), bald eagles, puffins, and other sea birds. We were all smiling ear to ear and then got some surprise cookies and hot coffee. What a treat. I won't be forgetting this anytime soon!! Thanks for the great time.

This was so much fun! My husband and I enjoyed the 3 hour tour where we saw 3 different types of whales, dolphins and puffins. Chasing them around the ocean was quite the adventure! The tour guide Kris was amazing, very knowledgeable and full of stories of his 30+ years of experience. The only big letdown for us was that we received a call at 10pm the night before changing the location of the port we were boarding on. Apparently due to fog (which we didn't get) and that the whales had moved on. I totally respect that they want to make sure we get value on the tour but just a heads up for those considering it. It put quite a rench in our plans since we had to travel half an hour away and we ended up missing a lot of other things we had planned that day.

Ray and I had returned to Trinity Bight Area again this past Sept 2021 long overdue return trip to most MAGICAL place in Canada - without hesitation we booked our sea adventure with Sea of Whales knowing that our experienced guide owner LOVER of all sea creatures Chris would ensure our time would be special- and again it surely was. Chris is passionate not only about the sea and it’s creatures but cares DEEPLY that his guests are experiencing the most of what the Atlantic can dazzle one with. Chris’s expert eyes across vast miles of open Sea can spot orcas, whales , puffins, eagles all full menagerie of wild life - we were in complete awe of the magnificent creatures up close and personal. That said Chris’s commitment to ensuring the creatures are not harmed scared or upset in any way is beyond respectful to the boundaries- as we (us humans) are mere guests to their home. I have seen many tour operators race towards whales and orcas non stop and CANT image how upsetting and frightening it is for them. Chris takes a gentle approach eases in with caution and well back. What unfolds is a bond - they come to the zodiac inquisitive or perhaps they know it’s Chris and they have bonded and built trust over the many years he guiding. Either way the magic is real and an experience that should not be missed. Chris is a seasoned captain with safety protocols and well-being of both guests and sea life. The sea is elusive and not always are there sightings (albeit Chris truly is a Whale Whisperer) in abundance however trust that your day with Chris on Sea of Adventures will be a HIGHLIGHT of your trip to NFLD! Book with no other. Shawna; Chris’s wife and partner will take excellent care of booking arrangements and all details. She truly is a gem. Glad to say after few times out on our trips to NFLD a beautiful friendship has unfolded. Chris is amazing and the zodiac was very safe and secure. He made sure we were dressed warmly in full body gear which he supplied. He also served us a cookie and hot tea when we were out there. The scenery was spectacular and we saw 6 whales.

We did not get to see whales on our tour but we still enjoyed this experience! We instead explored the nearby rock islands and got amazed by its awesome rock transformations! So breathtaking! The captain is also well-experienced and is knowledgeable. Also, he shared with us his hydrophone tool used in detecting whales around the area, which I thought it was pretty cool! Thanks for the experience!

Kris & Shauna Prince are the best!! Kris is a master of the sea and makes sure you have the best time and see whatever nature offers you that particular day. We've been out with him 2x's: 2018, 19 only missing in 2020 for obvious reasons. With Kris we've seen whales, eagles getting lunch for his babies and drying his wings in a tree in the sun, lits of wildlife & whales & fishes. In April of '19 Kris found & took us to a HUGE iceberg. It is always a wonderful, safe, exciting time!! Shauna (&the kids) run the biz from home & do everything to make sure your adventure is terrific from beginning to end. We are awaiting Canada opening up again so we can make our way back to Newfoundland and Trinity and Sea of Whales Adventures. You won't be disappointed

Had so much fun went out two days in a row. May be my new weekend obsession. Kris never gave up looking for whales. While we were looking we found eagles and some sea birds including puffins. Second day we didn't find the whales but we did go into a cave, found more eagles , a search arch and lots of beautiful coastline. The whales are just starting to move through the area so there will be more opportunities to see them up close.

Amazing trip with Corey & Shawna (sp) today. Actually lost count how many whales we saw, but the highlight were the two humpback whales both breaching, and one completely cleared the water with a twist! The trip was awesome, as were Shawna's insights and commentary along the way. Also included were watermelon, cookies and drinks. This has been the highlight of our Newfoundland visit. "If there are whales in the Ocean, Kris is going to find them". We travelled to Newfoundland in late September and everyone (incl the locals) told us that we would not see whales this late in the year. We decided to go against that opinion and booked trip anyway just in case. From the moment we reached out to the Sea of Whales team, we knew we made the right decision. Shawna was really friendly, helpful and organised with the booking and then Kris, our tour guide and Captain was outstanding. He had so much local knowledge and FOUND us whales! We got to see 6 humpbacks, 1 fin whale and a Sunshine fish and not forgetting the many unual birds. HIGHLY recommend! Thanks!!

Kris at Sea of Whales Adventures created a great day for us whale seekers aboard his awesome and fast-accelerating Zodiac boat. There were fast moments and slow moments and moments of just hanging in the water almost still, with the gorgeous surroundings and the suspense making everything magical. Kris has been doing this for over two decades and he knows how to put on a show but not in an over-bearing way. It's almost like the whales know him, and even though none of the fishermen we asked had seen whales, Kris found the whales no problem, from a combination of his amazing intuition and local knowledge built up over any years. He said he is doing his dream job and that joy rubs off on everyone in the boat. Well worth the money!!

Recommend. Wonderful hosts/tour guides who really know the area. Made my time on the water special. I did my tour late in the season, so my expectations of seeing whales was realistic (no sightings). I would caution for older folks or anyone with a physical issue to know that the exciting boat ride can be intense at times.

What a great experience! Chris was full of knowledge about every single thing we saw. From birds, the bald eagles and the humpback whales we saw...he knew it all. He also has sniper vision for the blows and was able to find out where they were. He brings along homemade snacks and gets to know your name which is a nice personal touch. Highly recommend!

Incredible experience!! Kris has so much knowledge about whales. He has genuine love and respect for them. This is not your average boat tour. We went for a 3 hour tour on August 11. We saw two fin whales, one minke whale and several humpbacks. Kris brought homemade cookies, watermelon, coffee and water. One humpback whale went right under the zodiac, you could see his turquoise belly! We got great videos and pictures. Thank you Kris and Shawna for this amazing life experience! We will be back!

The owners, Shawna & Kris were wonderful, welcoming, & generous with their time. Their passion for their jobs & their guests rally stand out. They've the safety gear for our daughter (6 yrs, 48 inches high; 1.22 m) to myself (6'4"; 1.95 m). While wild animals can be fickle, Kris found several humpback, fin whales, white beaked dolphins, & plenty of seabirds. He shared info re ecology, behaviors, & more. The proximity that the Zodiac boat provides makes the experience that much more intimate. I can't urge y'all enough to try them!

Amazing tour! We saw different whales almost constantly on the tour. The smaller boat means you are close to the water and can see everything up close. At one point, I could see details on the whale's face as it passed right under us! Incredible!

Best whale watching I've done. Chris, the owner, is an awesome guide. We saw so many whales my head was spinning. The boat and suits were in great condition. It felt more adventurous being on a zodiac vs. a big tour boat and was quite comfortable. A fair price as well.

I didnt have time to take the tour but when I called in the gentleman was kind enough to guide me where to check for whales with binoculars (its September and most are gone out now)... and low and behold we saw 2 humpbacks playing in the distance !! Such a passionate individual who clearly loves what he does! Fantastic!
