Good Cruise, great learning experience Our daughter organized for my birthday, this Liftlock Cruise in Peterborough. The Fall weather was beautiful. The cruise took about 2 hours along Little Lake, Trent-Severn Waterway where we experienced the workings of Lock No. 20 and the 65-foot high 113 year-old Liftlock 21 for the first time. The 2-hour cruise time was mainly spent on waiting for the Liftlocks to be opened/closed. The Captain-cum-tourist guide Jody was excellent explaining the history of the Waterway and the Liftlocks. There's a paid-parking lot nearby and the only payment option is in coins. One dollar for one hour or $7 for the whole day.

Great experience. The staff were friendly and even the lock crew were great with the tour group (symbiotic relationship and all) A couple even got engaged which was very cool, and the staff went out of the way to make sure it was memorable.

The young captin is a pill head , i seen him eatting a handful of "perocet" before he took a boat load of customers out on a cruise in the fall , i wouldnt trust him driving my kids or family around on such a big boat , i will be contacting the proper authorities about this, Id hate to see him hurt or even worse kill someone because hes under the influence of a handful of narcotic pain medications , no doctor would tell anyone to take more then 2-3 max of those pills , so if you want a safe cruise get Grant to captin the boat not a pill popping junkie

GREAT SERVICE & OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE. I brought my wife and young daughter to Peterborough's Trent-Severn Waterway to see the Lift Lock for the first time. It was worth the drive and wait. The overall experience was phenomenal. Great job to Courtney and The Captain for the wonderful time spent and learning experience!

Take the afternoon cruise, the dinner cruise does not include the lift lock experience. The lift locks close late afternoon.

Great adventure loved the tour the captain and crew were great.The captain kept us entertained while the locks were filling up not boring at all.We went through the tallest lock 65 feet in the air it is amazing how it works even after 100 years.Worth the trip.

Very good experience! Lots of history received. A better sound system would be nice...but still worth the expense. Book early as it does fill up in peak times and may not run in bad weather. Enjoy!

Very disappointing. Went on a dinner cruise and then on to Musicfest. The boat cruise was boring, never went through any locks just went round and round Little Lake and it is not very big! Captain was not engaging, music on board ship was missing. Found web page very misleading. Food was OK but cold. You earned one star because of your wait staff.

It is a nice sightseeing tour, which takes you over the Hydraulic Lift lock. The captain was quite entertaining and told stories about Peterborough, Trent-Severn waterway, the locks and surroundings. Overall, it is a pleasant experience and the price is fair.

Edit: saw some other reviews about scaring young children. So I'm going to add it here. The lift locks are very old and have a history, some of which was not so good. If you google it, you'll even find it on lists about haunted places. This history is covered as part of the tour by the captain, but it's not overly emphasized or anything. But if your children are very impressionable, this tour may not be a good idea. Original: Fantastic experience with a funny Captain and friendly crew. You don't go too far on the sightseeing trip and it's generally a slow experience as you wait for the locks to fill out or empty for your boat to pass. But it's very neat to see up close and personal. It's very calm and almost elevator like. So the two hour trip flashes by quickly. Definitely worth doing at least once. You can then visit and see the various locks for a different perspective.

This cruise is supposed to be a lift lock cruise. Too bad when you cannot go through the locks. Would not recommend this cruise at all. The staff are very nice and helpful but the roast beef dinner is terrible. Couldn't even cut it . Asked for compensation for part of the money we paid to go on this cruise. Don't think that will happen. There was 56 of us who went on this trip - so a lot of people left unhappy. Oh well - the cruise certainly doesn't go far and especially when you cant go through the life locks. - think twice about this cruise - disappointing to say the lead

Was a small group on the boat and the captain was very personable and knowledgeable. Took the time between talking about the sites of Peterborough to personally connect with the customers on the boat. He was also very kind and let the young children (and some adults) take pictures at the helm steering the boat. An awesome way to spend an afternoon on the locks not to mention the incredible lift up into the sky. Well worth the trip!
