****Caution to large parties, don't let this travel bug bite you****
Our experience comes from travel planning to Mexico for our destination wedding. We actually had to wait 6 months before getting pricing from Roxxana, apparently because no one offers pricing that much more in advance (I checked, and resorts do actually offer years in advance). When we finally got pricing it was for the 'cheapest part of the year'. We were provided pricing options for a resort, the pricing changed based upon what division of the hotel we stayed at (I call this a tier system such as gold, silver, bronze etc.) as well as key dates.
We ended up selecting the nicest resort on a specific date because it happened to be the same price as the rest - on that specific date.
As time went on, we asked for an extension and prepared for slight price changes since the commitments were slowly coming in, the response back confirmed our thoughts. We started to give, and direct people to give deposits, this is where shady stuff started to happen - no contract / receipt was promptly provided, it was only when asked that we found out the HUGE price jump that could not be substantiated, all I wanted was proof of previous flight / accommodation costs to current. All I got for a response was the Canadian dollar, but the math didn't make sense.
As pissed as I was, we continued but then other people from the travel party started to have their own experiences:
My Best man decided not to come when:
1.)Prices for the single occupancy almost doubled, again with no reasoning
2.)Suggested that he stay in a room with a woman while they were both in their own relationships.
3.)She sent my best man emails that I was making up stuff (only posting info she had given us) and started confusion people saying they couldn't come to the 'platinum' part of the resort (but they don't call it that according to Roxxana.... just everyone else does) which is actually false, you just cant go into some of the restaurants or bars.... Truth be told, Barcello is a large Resort with multiple 'divisions' that you can stay in. Everyone on the trip considered each division different like platinum, gold, silver, bronze etc. - Platinum can travel and eat anywhere, where people staying in some of the more economical parts are restricted to certain food amenities but you can still wander the entire resort!
Regarding the had traveled himself and said that's EXACTLY what happens, and after going on this trip finally - that was EXACTLY how it is treated at the resort
Other instances:
4.) Our tickets were never sent out, Roxxanna was too busy traveling herself and left them in her office, thank god we knew the ball would probably be dropped at that point - called and went and picked up from the associate
5.) Price were never verified after a deposit was given, it was after a couple weeks when people started having these problems with the single occupancy that we decided to double check. Pretty simple, give a deposit and get a receipt of what is left owing (not here apparently). My single father ended up paying a huge amount and we didn't know about it.
6.) Accommodations for return flights were messed up for one couple and turned into another joke, by that time everyone kinda knew what to expect.
7.) Had to wait 6 months before Roxxanna offered package pricing (hmmm....waiting for email promotions to come in, rather than reach out for them?)
8.) The 'cheapest time of the year' deal that we were told actually is Mexico's spring break and quite busy. The locals said that was NOT not best time to travel for cheap!
We become suspicious that this place may reap the travel rewards for themselves by booking under their account - making large group deals a potential disaster.
All in all - the experience is NO WHERE near what the seasoned travelers from the party expected. Roxxana offered no added value and actually cost people of the trip more money. The information provided was inconstant or at time outright wrong and actually intimidated some people from coming.
