We booked for Rock Climbing adventure and it was a blast. Our expert guides Martin and Alejandro took us to Tangle Creek Falls for this one of a kind experience. They were so patient and helpful in teaching us the techniques of ice climbing. I would definitely recommend to book your Jasper adventures in Rockaboo. Keep up the great work guys! Thank you.
Had an amazing day with Eric! Absolutely recommend that you do the Glacier Hike (before it's too late).
Ice Climbing Tour: we just got back from our tour with Martin and I gotta say, this is one fun time. You need to be in good health as the climbing will challenge you if you’ve never climbed before. Martin is so professional - everything feels so safe with him and he’s excellent at coaching and making you achieve more that you ever thought you could. The Company was so easy to deal with when booking and everything was perfect - gear included!
Myself and a few friends had the experience of a life time with Max. Rockaboo provides the best, and safest, guiding experience I've ever had. And not only will you have the experience, but you'll get to learn about traveling through the mountains from the best in the business!
Definitely one of the coolest experiences out here in the mountains. Chris was my tour guide and he was awesome - really knows his stuff and was very upbeat. Group sizes are small which is nice too. I count this as a must-do for anyone who likes a little adventure!
We did the Athabasca glacier half-day tour in Sept and it was great. Our guide Chris was super friendly and upbeat and really made the trip. We loved that we got to wonder and explore, and didn't feel rushed. The small group (about 6-8) was personable and made it easy to ask questions. Pricy for what you get, we did one repel and the rest was walking on top of the glacier, no ice caves. But that was also due to the time of year. I'm sure winter would be a better value.
Loved this guided rock climbing experience! Frank was a great guide and the climbing was really fun and challenging.
What a fantastic Lodge if you are staying in the Banff National Park area. Great location and beautiful Lodge. I can highly recommend it.
Would have appreciated an indication about the expected weather condition and the viewing conditions in advance as this impacted the viewing experience we had.
We had an excellent morning of rock climbing. It was lovely and a memorable father-daughter adventure. François was a smart, charming, and competent guide. He worked well with the group, gauging different levels of ability and fears. He introduced all the necessary safety instructions, he ensured that folks were secure at all times, and he even carefully rescued my daughter when she reached a point where she could not continue. I appreciated that he knew his stuff but he also thought wisely of our overall experience.
My wife and I had such a memorable time ice climbing with Rockaboo! After arriving home from our trip we both agreed that it stuck out as one of the best days of our 10 day vacation to the Rockies. Max is a throughly experienced 20 year guide who made us feel safe and comfortable all day while gaining confidence in our new skills. The climbing community is super friendly and you should never pass up an opportunity to try something new- especially in the winter! You won't be disappointed!
Great team!
My partner and I did the Experience Athabasca Glacier half day and it was AMAZING! Our guide, Chris, was the most upbeat tour guide, and really set the stage for the experience to come. We hiked up the glacier and got to repel down into a crevasse, which looked like an ice cave! My only piece of feedback is for Rockaboo to have clearer instructions for how to seek out the meeting spot once at the parking lot. There was no Rockaboo branded signage for us to find our guide, and we had a bit of a detour as we then left the site to find where to meet, only to arrive back to where we had started, but almost 20 minutes past our departure time was scheduled. Thankfully Chris met us with the utmost amount of enthusiasm and didn't let this hold the group back, and for that we are very thankful. I highly recommend this tour, and tour guide, to my friends - a one of a kind experience!
I had a great time taking my AST-1 course. We were the first group to have to deal with all online learning (due to Covid-19) but to say that Rockaboo only had a few weeks to get that all in order they did a fantastic job! Super good energy and a great overall experience.
Easily one of the most amazing experiences of our lives! My husband and I spent a beautiful day of our honeymoon exploring the Athabasca Glacier with Jesse, our friendly, knowledgable and adventurous guide. We lucked out on a Wednesday with the tour being just us and our guide. Normally, Jesse said there are about 8-10 people on a tour. So, book mid-week if you can and maybe you'll luck out too. We went everywhere the tourists on the bigger tour buses didn't get to go. Jumped over running rivers of glacier water, hiked up to almost the top of the glacier, well beyond any of the other tour groups. We drank from the glacier, explored a cavernous gorge, and walked alongside waterfalls that seemed to drop into abysses. This "tour" if you can even call it that, was so much more than a tour. We felt like explorers, finding places on the glacier, that likely, no other person had traversed. You need a decent level of fitness and daring to do some of the stuff we did, but it was WELL worth the effort. I'm 9 weeks pregnant and got along just fine. Really truly amazing and awesome. So much more than we expected. We would definitely recommend this little tour outfit to anyone that wants to get away from the big crowds of tourists and have a REAL ADVENTURE! Can't wait to bring our future kids up to Jasper to give them this amazing experience.
Great experience all around
The experience with rockaboo was one of the best experiences I ever had. I would highly recommend taking these knowledgable hikers to your next hike who would make it fun, and also go an extra mile just to take your pictures. Also, they would teach you a lot of things you would not know otherwise
Very lovely experience with their guide. Highly recommended on using them as a private tour! Would definitely do it again next time we come back to go further up the glacier.
Amazing experience! This was our first climb, and our guide Jen was patient, helpful, and knowledgeable. Don’t hesitate in booking, seeing as our glaciers might not be here for much longer!
This was an incredible experience! The Rockaboo staff was professional, fun and safe! I am afraid of heights and have zero climbing experience, but we made it! We will be back without a doubt and I recommend this to everyone.
Amazing and friendly guides that you can trust. If you want to learn rocking climbing or ice climbing. Rockaboo is the one you should reach out to :)
Junior Mountaineers was an amazing experience for our children! Thanks so much Rockaboo for a wonderful opportunity for little adventurers!!!!
Took my AST1 with these guys, best price I could find and still a quality experience. Very knowledgeable instructors and online module let me learn at my pace.
Great, just great. The staff is extremely friendly and competent, a must go if you want to learn to be a guide or juste to make a trip
Must go thing!! You can’t miss this! We had never done climbing before, yet we were able to climb the rock! There were different levels of ropes from easy to hard to very hard! It was really a fun activity!
A great experience. Frank was very knowledgeable, helpful and made me feel completley safe. Thank you for making one of my lifelong dreams come true. Muchas gracias!????♀️????????
Super friendly, responsive and professional - highly recommended!
Just spent a fabulous couple of weekends with Rockaboo’s Rock Climbing Fundamentals 1 and 2! I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to learn how to climb. Our instructors, Francois and Brooklyn, were a great team - fun, patient, knowledgeable and well prepared. I felt encouraged and supported the whole way through. Information was very well presented and opportunity was given to practice each new skill. I appreciated the emphasis on safety that was a major part of both courses.
Went on a tour with them a while back, absolutely wonderful the owner of the company and tour guide led a mountaineering course, learned so much, super friendly and wonderful charisma. 10/10 would go again.
Going ice climbing with Max was one of the coolest experiences of my life! He took the time to teach my buddies and I about all of the technical skills we would need on the glacier and hit the perfect balance of safety and letting us push our limits. Absolutely would take any of the training programs Rockaboo has to offer. Thanks for everything! Bo
We had such an amazing experience thanks to Chris! This is a great way to really discover the icefield (magical colors and water formations) and learn how it has evolved like this. This goes without saying that going down into an ice crevasse will for sure be a lifelong memory! We definitly recommend Rockaboo Moutain Adventures for their professional and fun staff!
Had a blast rappelling down into maligne canyon and getting a magnificent new view of a favorite spot in the canadian rockies. Our guide Jesse made sure all four of us as first time ice climbers were well aware of how all the safety equipment worked with fantastic hands on instruction and really cool demonstrations. Really great trip for anyone looking to have a one of a kind experience in maligne canyon. The entire trip from leaving the parking lot to getting back was full of excitement and beautiful sights. Highly recommend the experience ice climbing trip! Or any tour with this company!
I booked an Ice Climbing Tour (6 hrs) and we went to the Maligne Canyon with a small group of 6 people plus our guide Max. It was an awesome experience, I just can highly recommend to do one of their tours. Max as well was a funny but still professional guide. Simply amazing!
I had the best time ice climbing with Max and Alejandro. They had such an amazing attitude and were really excited to teach and guide the group and getting each person doing the best they could. I probably wouldn't have done as good as I did without them cheering me on. I felt extremely safe, and was able to focus on climbing. I will definitely be coming back to climb with them again! 11/10 would recommend. Thanks guys!
I had a great day on my AST1 course. Greg, Greg and Etienne did a great job. Looking forward to use my new knowledge in the back-country and to keep on learning. Thanks 1
If you're looking for a safe and reliable alpine experience look no further. Max and his crew will lead you on the greatest experience in the mountains you can imagine. Very kind, very patient and knowledgeable to ensure we got the best out of our experience.
My partner and I went with the 8 hour private lesson for rock climbing, our guide was Francois. Our day exceeded our expectations. Not only was our guide the author of Jaspers rock climbing guide but he also spends his time raising funds and creating new climbing routes for Jasper National Park. 8 hours is a long time to spend with a stranger, but Francois was extremely easy going, kind, and a great conversationalist. We could have listened to his experiences for hours. Thanks for a great time. We are officially hooked.
Attention to detail, experienced and knowledgeable staff and they obviously enjoy what they do. We did the experience rock climbing, a small group of five. Frank was great! Patient and helpful, he helped make the day for everyone. Well worth the time and investment.
We had such a great time!!! Frank was such a great guide! Would highly recommend!!!
Fantastic experience! We had never gone ice climbing before and our guide Maarten gave us an extremely thorough learning experience with a fun tour & climb in Maligne Canyon. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone!
Exceeded expectations. Had a great safe time. Definitely a highlight of our trip. Frank took great care of us. Can't wait to return
We are glad we went. We both managed two successful climbs (the opportunity is there for many more climbs, we just chose to stop after two) and got great pics for our experience scrapbook so take this with a grain of salt: My husband and I are in our fifties and after visiting multiple canyons in Banff, LL, Yoho and Jasper, we thought this would be a fun experience. We booked the group tour with Jen and Alejandro and went to Tangle Falls. It's a beautiful location about an hour from Jasper. We probably should have booked a private lesson. Or maybe Jen and Alejandro don't work together often. Both were very nice individually but their chemistry seemed off as team and they didn't have a cohesive plan for the teaching part of the experience. We learned that ice climbing can be very dangerous and covering a few basics in a haphazard way ends in bumps and bruises but thankfully nothing worse. Again, this is coming from someone well out of their 20's and 30's so our perspective is different and this review is directed at an older group. If you asked the 20 somethings in our group, they loved the "here are the basics; go climb!" approach. We needed a bit more attention to detail. Would I recommend Rockaboo? Yes, but, pay attention and remember your safety is your responsibility first. Don't be shy if your crampons keep falling off, or if you are way off the line and are about to swing like a pendulum across the face of the ice. The guides are keeping their eyes on five or six different people, so they might miss something. Some thoughts that may help you for a future trip: Clothing: Layer your coats so you have one lighter one to climb in and one heavy layer to belay in or stand around in. Same with gloves: at least 2 pair, one lighter one for climbing and one heavy for belaying. Hat: no pom poms bc you need a safety helmut to go over it. A note on boots: Rockaboo will provide you with boots (we went with the leather boots and were not cold at all). My recommendation is to try on your boots, make sure they fit but then put your own boots back on until you get to the falls. Its an hour away, at least, and these boots are inflexible (for good reason) and if you are driving your own car it's not really a good idea to drive in them. Hopefully, this helps get you up on the ice!
We had Maarten as our guide and honestly it was the best experience ever. He was so good at explaining the technical procedure it made climbing a breeze. He was friendly and patient and well educated and definitely knew his stuff. I learnt a lot and would give him a 6 star review if I could. Rockaboo is well worth the money.
Amazing experience! It was our first time climbing and we had a blast. Alejandro was our guide, very professional and educational. Looking forward to our next climb :-)
It was my girlfriend's first time taking an avalanche course. If was my second time taking the course, after 25 years of backcountry skiing. Peter and Joslynn displayed a wealth of knowledge and teaching skill. We both learned lots and really enjoyed it.
awesome time there! literally no any climbing experience but the guide was soooo nice and patient and professional. was in group of 5, the guide cares about everyone and taught us step by step. multiple routes to choose from to suit different experience levels. everyone in our group had a nice time. Extremely rewarding and will come again.
A great experience and I am absolutely happy I joined their glacier tour. Also I absolutely understand that the training for glacier guides is quite long and expensive I found the tour a bit on the pricy side for what you get. I loved the small group size and the guide was super friendly and knowledgeable! The included lunch was tasty too and they provide bottled water and spikes to walk on the glacier. Overall a great experience.
My family and I had a great experience with Francois as our guide back in July. He is very experienced and shared some great stories with us. He made us feel comfortable "going outside of our box", and this Experience Rock Climbing adventure was well worth the money for my family and I. My wife is already talking about the next adventure with Rockaboo Mountain Adventures!
