We did the tour on a slightly rainy day, but it was still great: the guidess was knowledgable about the surroundings and the islands and it was a great experience to see Halifax from the water.

I had a wonderful experience on the two hour tour. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and went out of their way to get me in the water when the scheduled tour times didn’t work! Highly recommend!

This was a super fun experience when visiting Halifax to get a different perspective of the town. There are other locations to kayak in the area that may be more scenic, but we thought this was really unique and was a great team builder as a newly married couple.

Had a great time on the water with Ed (the owner) and some new friends. Best thing I did in Halifax. Lots to see on the water, Ed has lots of local stories and history which made the experience even better. Great for novices on the water as Ed is a great teacher and is good at keeping everyone safe and happy.

My tour was cancelled and I requested a refund. And although it took them a little while to process the refund (as their refund system was not processing requests instantly), they made sure that I received my refund. They also offered me a 2 hour tour as a compensation for the delay. Looking forward to take a tour and share a better review. Meanwhile, this review is for their persistent effort in issuing the refund.

After 3 days of wandering around Halifax, which was a wonderful experience in itself, we were getting tired of walking so we booked a kayak ride with Kayak Halifax. Ed was not only the owner of the company but also a most entertaining tour guide, filled with interesting anecdotes about the history and geography of the area. He was also an expert on the birds and wildlife to be seen. No paddling experience was necessary and he was able to keep a fairly disparate group of paddlers happily together. I would recommend this activity to anyone who's looking for a little exhilaration in their day.

AWFUL!! DO NOT USE!! GOOD CHANCE YOU WILL BE THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY. Wish I could give ZERO STARS! I had a tour booked for June 25, 2019. They canceled on me the day of. Said there would be a refund. I am still waiting. I forwarded the pertinent information to them (reservation number, etc) and nothing has happened. As others have said, they don't reply and THEY DON'T REFUND THE MONEY.

Ed is the most wonderful tour guide we have ever had. our first guided kayak tour turned into an amazing experience. His trivia and knowledge about marine life and some of the local spots and his hospitality is really amazing. the tour was easy to reserve online and we got timely updates from Ed before the tour regarding weather updates and how to reach the lodge. Must check him out if you are in Halifax ????????

Really enjoyed the actual kayaking aspect of the trip, but I was really disappointed with communication - we (3) of us accidentally booked for 4 spots, and e-mailed the owner a bunch of times asking for help fixing it, and they just completely ignored the e-mails. So not reflective of the quality of the actual staff member leading the tour, who was great.

This was the most exciting tour we've done of Halifax. There's nothing particularly exciting about this kayak trip, but it's kind of fun to tour Halifax Bay.

What a wonderful experience with Kayak Halifax! Ed was so kind, patient and zen ????. I hadn't been kayaking in a few years so I wasn't sure what to expect but I immediately felt at ease. The weather was on our side but the folks at Kayak Halifax go out of their way to make sure you have a good experience. Kayaking among the Tall Ships is not something I'll soon forget. Thanks Ed and crew for a fantastic time- I highly recommend this company ????.

The trip was nice but we had to wait 30 minutes before they finally have the kayak ready. It was very expensive for a so short trip. Our guide was a nice guy.

We had a fantastic time on our kayak tour! Ed was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the area's history and ecology. We loved spending the afternoon on the water and learned a lot about the harbour. Definitely a trip highlight!

read the reviews, booked a trip and was very excited. Unfortunately Ed emailed me the morning of the kayak trip and cancelled the trip due to weather and said they will refund the money I paid... 22 days later still no refund..I'm very disappointed in missing out on the kayak trip and more disappointment I was never refunded my $187.45...be careful everyone, it sounds like a great experience but if it's cancelled your out your money.

We had a fantastic kayaking experience in the Halifax Harbour couple of weeks ago which would never been forgotten. We saw tall ship while we were paddling. We took awesome photos of cruise ships before heading towards Georges Island. our guide, Colleen, was very professional. Learned a lot about the Georges Island & Downtown history while we were paddling . Lastly our paddling ended with cute harbour seal following us while heading back to the dock. I wish we had more time to stay in Halifax so we can try the sunset paddle as well :)...we will be back for sure next time . This is a MUST things to do in Halifax, no matter if you are experienced or not. We highly recommend you to everyone who will visit Halifax. Thank you Kayak Halifax for making our trip memorable!

My boyfriend and I booked a trip to Halifax at the end of June and we were looking forward to kayaking the harbour, especially because this company has such great reviews. We were sorely disappointed however when late the night before the paddling trip we received a text saying that the trip was canceled with no explanation. The weather was gorgeous on the day of the booking, not a drop of rain. And the timing didn't really allow us to find a similar activity in time that was not already booked. In addition, its been over a month since Kayak Halifax said they would refund my boyfriend for the $130 he paid for the excursion but based on the reviews left here I'm not confident we will even receive it. They emailed us today, saying to dispute the charge with our bank and PayPal to expedite the process. Absolutely NO company I have ever purchased services from has made it this difficult to obtain a refund. I would recommend extreme caution for anyone considering booking with this company and I would not recommend them.

We had family visiting from Ontario and booked the sunset kayak tour from Halifax to George's Island Thursday June 20/19. 40 minutes prior to the tour departure we received an email from Kayak Halifax that our tour guide sustained a concussion playing Rugby and they had to cancel the tour. My cousin, who booked the tour, has requested several times for a refund. Here we are a month later and still no refund. The company is telling her they cannot find her in their records. I would definitely not recommend booking with them.

Incredible experience. Ed is a worldly, kind, and calming presence who gave us a sunset tour full of history and stories. The most beautiful night on the water, saw seals and amazing houses and yachts. When we had an emergency the night before, ed was kind enough to rebook us for the sunset tour and I absolutely recommend. A lovely way to see Halifax, and he truly embodies the kind and happy spirit of the people here. A must do activity if you are visiting this lovely city. Great for beginners and experienced kayakers alike. My second time on his tours and I absolutely recommend. Thanks again Ed!

Kayak Halifax cancelled my prepaid full day tour due to impending rain. They told me they would issue a refund in about 2 weeks time. It has now been 2 months with 3 emails and 2 phone calls later. There is no refund and no call back even after my last request. They are totally unresponsive and unconcerned. Beware of this company.

Huge disappointment! Just like the last recent reviews, our excursion was cancelled the day before due to a severe weather advisory. I understand keeping guides and guests safe, however I do not understand delaying the refund. I received an email indicating that the excursion was cancelled and that I would receive a cancellation notification and then a refund. Wouldn’t the email attached to the original booking, advising of the cancellation due to weather conditions not suffice for a cancellation? It has been over 10 days and still no refund, although they were quick to take my payment. I would like to add that we went to the harbour to look for the meeting point to prep the day before and no one seemed to know where the launch area was, or any kayaks to be seen. Questionable. Feeling scammed.
