Staff was nice. IF YOU WANT AN E BIKE YOU GOT TO MAKE A RESERVATION!! dont make the same mistake as I did. But if you do, know that the city bikes are really just as good. They are way more comfy then the e bikes, if you are under 5"2 dont make the same mistake as me, take the small frame instead of the medium.

Wonder how these guys survived so far with this nonsense attitude? I've believed I Heart Bikes was a respect worthy vendor, renting out cruiser bikes to excited tourists to our Halifax. I was dumbfounded by their level of service, lack of kindness and outright snappy attitude; to me it was literally meaning "I don't give an f about you sir", maybe because I'm Asian or I visited them like 4 minutes before their closure :) Nonetheless, are they entitled to treat me like this, as if I'm a stray dog or something? They were asking if I'm going to buy a shirt or not, as if I'm not worth their attention if I am just dropping by. I don't see myself doing any future business with them, but check them out yourselves if you can't believe how arrogant and unprofessional they are in dealing with customers. I was surprised! Honestly, this vendor is best avoided.

This is a great service offered to us here in Halifax and the staff are wonderful. They really take the time to ensure all riders enjoy their experience. When we went I had my 12 year old niece with me who had very limited experience with riding a bike. The staff worked with her and fitted her bike with training wheels only to find out that she really couldn't even support herself on those. We felt defeated and I felt terrible about wasting their time as it seemed we would have to not go on our ride. Then one of the girls suggested we take their tandem bike out. They allowed us to make the change without any additional charge and told us all they wanted was for each member of our party to enjoy themselves. We had a lovely ride down to point pleasant park and my niece had the time of her life. I am forever grateful to these helpful women who would not settle for us giving up! My niece is still talking about the experience months later and we will most certainly be back to do it again once the weather warms up!

Friendly guides and great e-bikes to navigate some of the city’s hilly areas. Our guide was fairly young and new and could probably use a bit more experience, but we had fun learning some new facts about Halifax nonetheless. I would recommend!

Had a great day with one electric bicycle and one non-electric. We did the salt Marsh Trail out to Lawrence town beach. Plan for a six hour trip (total), including your own picnic lunch (no real restaurants in that area).

I rented an e-bike at iHeart bikes this summer.. wow what a lot of fun! The bike was a good quality Opus with a 250w motor, just enough to level out the hills and make the straight sections a little more exciting and enjoyable. The rental process was smooth and professional with all appropriate health precautions one would expect. I'm going to rent one again!

Honestly the best rented bike I've ever ridden. Usually for the same price, other businesses will stick you with something used up, poorly maintained and barely worth riding. IHeartBikes gave me a fantastic Opus hybrid that was very comfortable and powerful. The staff is friendly and they know their stuff, and the fact that they give a 20 second rundown of the laws and signals a Haligonian cyclist must follow is a huge comfort. They also have some really cool merchandise for sale.

I’m and experienced cyclist and wanted to see HALIFAX from a bike. The staff were knowledgeable and set me up with a Pedogo ebike. It was awesome to be able to get pedal assist to make the hills easier. It allowed me to ride up to Hydrostone and check out the rebuilt Nieghbour hood from the Halifax explosion. Great customer service, great Products and friendly staff.

I was really excited to rent a bike, googled places to rent one from the airport, and even called ahead. No one answered but the message didn't say they were closed, and no where online did it say this place was closed until May. It wasn't until I walked over and saw on the shop that I got really disappointed. ????

Absolutely the best bike rental shop I have ever visited. We rented 2 road bikes to bike the Cabot Trail (200km+). The staff were incredibly helpful, informative and friendly. The bikes were in perfect condition/tuned up perfectly and we did not have any problems with them the entire way, despite very rough conditions (not even 1 flat!!!). Reserving the bikes was an easy process and the staff were very responsive when I called with questions about which bikes to rent! Worth every penny! Ahmed is a very lovely staff member who as very kind and meticulous when tuning up the bikes. The owner is also fabulous! Thank you for helping us live out this amazing experience!!! 11/10 would rent from I Heart Bikes again any day!

Fair rental rates, but a super weird tour. Odd route choice, guide was unprepared when she got a flat and had to ride back to the shop while we waited in an industrial park. What if it had been a tourist? Gotta carry spares, even comfy Dutch bikes get flats.

The service here is so nice! The employee was almost like a tour guide taking the time to annotate several different bike route maps with suggested outings and destinations, even going so far as to help plan a whole afternoon of biking to Point Pleasant, the citadel, and the public gardens. Also feel that the bike was nice and reasonably priced for a weeklong rental.

Nice way to spend 2hrs on a sunny afternoon. The guide info is very basic and you do have to bike on the main roads so be aware if you're not too experienced riding a bike in public spaces. My bike's brakes weren't working all that well and it was too big for me (I'm 5.2" and booked in advance for this reason). Still a good time but was also pretty frustrating.

Great and friendly service! Staff knew Abitibi their bikes and made recommendations for itineraries. We rented the electrical bike - we were very happy with them! Also loved that the staff equipped us with a mini tool set in case of any tire emergency. Would recommend!

The small ebike is advertised as good for someone 5 ft 2 in. I am 5'2" and it was not even close! I stopped, couldn't touch the ground due to the high bar, and fell. I hurt my leg where the pedal dug in and still feel the gravel on my palm. Took the bike back and the clerk called the owner to see about a refund and the owner said no because it was less than 24 hours. Did not like paying for something advertised to work that not only didn't, but actually hurt me.

First arrived to rent 5 bikes. After registration, waited for 1h20 to get the bikes, The guy preferred to take care about next customers. The employee was counting from the registration time (We rent the bikes for 4h), 55$ with insurance. Finally, got deflated wheel 3x during the trip (wheel replaced just before we left). 3 of us arrived late (been lost) while the 2 others were on time and explained that we arrived. Bikes wouldn't be rent after us anyway. Finally, angry employee trying to be sentimental (I also have a life, I should be with my family now) , we called the boss also angry (what a service) charged 25$ more for the delay. Never ever! Just run away!

We rented two "hybrid" bikes from them for a day; these came at a premium and were promised good road and trail performance. The process of renting over the phone was easy and went off without a hitch. When we arrived at the shop on the day what we were presented were far from premium. It was a smattering of mediocre parts (ok there was one Shimano wheel out of the four), dirty chains, squeaky brakes and various other things that i should've seen all together as a concern. Regardless, as we were really looking forward to our ride we accepted the guidance for a trail from the store rep and off we went. 15km into the ride (10km on gravel) we got a flat. No big deal right?, they happen to everyone and the lady at the store had ensured us our gear included a full tire replacement kit... except the pump doesn't work! There is a basic hand pump provided that is of little actual use. What a disaster! Bad equipment, ineffective gear, and pricey. AVOID IF YOU CAN.

I reserved a bike, 2 months in advance from the US, for a 10-day rental to do multiple day rides around the coast of Nova Scotia. It's day seven now and I returned the bike today since tomorrow, hurricane Dorian arrives. For personal safety and preventing damage to my rental car, I cancelled my remaining coastal motels and booked others further away. I prefer not to ride in the hurricane and have to spend more time driving to avoid becoming a liability for local emergency personnel. Upon returning the bike, I inquired about any credit for remaining time. Staff connected me by phone to the mgr who refused any consideration. They may be called "I heart bikes" but I found her attitude uncompassionate and "heart-less". She iterated it's a small business and cannot afford to refund. With this kind of customer service, it'll be lucky to stay in business, let alone grow. Obviously, a natural disaster (and probably death) is no grounds for refund. I believe in payment for services rendered, but the attitude exhibited here is, money made on behalf of a customer's misfortune, is money well earned. How lucky they were to have my multi-day rental fee cover for an otherwise day of emergency closure!

Just rented some bikes for a week here and found it to be a really great experience. I compared prices with other shops around town and I Heart Bikes had the best for a week so I decided to go there and am really happy with my choice. The service was great, they really thought of everything that we needed and the staff member that helped us handled the rush that was happening with ease. We've had a lot of fun exploring Halifax and the surrounding area on our bikes and found them to be in good shape, and the map/directions/suggestions she gave us were extremely helpful. Would highly recommend!

Excellent experience here. I rented a road bike for 3 days, the bike was fantastic and really allowed me to explore a huge amount of halifax/dartmouth. Pricing is wonderful and staff were extra accommodating, I highly recommend this spot!

I rented two e-bikes for a trip to Lawrencetown beach. The bikes were in good shape and worked well for the 50km trip. However, the staff was uninformed about routes and trip durations. I was recommended a route that went along an active railway which was dangerous and not enjoyable. The trip also took much longer than expected and some local knowledge on average trip duration would have been much appreciated seeing as the same route is offered as one of their tours. Overall I would not recommend. EDIT: at the owners recommendation I checked the website and there is a wonderfully detailed itinerary for the trip I took. I would recommend having these on hand at the store for discussing route options with renters. Also the railway I mentioned is located just after the Woodside ferry terminal and it was recommended by staff as a bypass for the busy Main Street by the Imperial Oil Refinery but it is private property and unsafe.

I cannot say enough incredible things about the wonderful owner, Sarah, and her talented and dedicated team. I have a well-loved bicycle, that was in desperate need of a tune-up. In an effort to support local, I chose I Heart Bikes. Sarah's staff were extremely friendly, patient, polite and knowledgeable. They took one look at my well-loved bike and assured me that they could set her to rights, and rather than pushing new parts, they helpfully suggested eco-kind, and wallet-friendly tune-up options. Given my work schedule, it was challenging for me to meet the tune-up day drop -off times. Sarah accommodated my schedule, and completed a complete overhaul on my poor weather-worn bike. She provided sage and sound advice, and I could not be more thrilled with the amazing, incredible, timely and terrific service I received from the front-end staff, up to the owner herself.
