Colin and Cara were wonderful hosts while they shared their knowledge of the Halifax harbour and Nova Scotia history. Their sweet boat, motorized by electricity, was clean, quiet, and comfortable. I highly recommend this tour to visitors, newcomers, and Bluenosers alike!

From the beginning, our experience with Halifax Harbour Tours was exceptional. We had no trouble securing tickets on the website, which was professional and easy to navigate. The day we went, fig had rolled in about 2 hours prior to our departure, and we were wondering if we’d be able to go, and if not, if we would be refunded our money. We decided to go and see what they would say, hoping the fog would lift, which it did! I will say that the most challenging part of the tour was finding where they were located on the harbour - they have a small little booth that was not particularly well marked, but we did eventually find it in time. We then went down and were greeted by Captain Colin, who assured me that his small boat would not induce sea-sickness, to which I am prone and he was right! We then met Kara, our amiable guide for the tour. This boat tour accommodates no more than 6 people, which makes it very intimate, and allows for a level of comfort that would otherwise not exist. We were four on the tour, myself, my husband, my daughter and her boyfriend. The tour lasted longer than the hour, and both Captain Colin and Kara were pleasant and informative, answering all of our questions and providing lots of interesting tidbits of information along the way. The fact that the boat was built by the Captain himself and is fully electric, takes this experience a level above the others, and it is obvious that he genuinely cares about the experience he offers. We were expecting a lovely day on the harbour, and we experienced that and so much more! You will not be disappointed should you choose Halifax Harbour Tours - we highly recommend!

This was the first thing I did in Halifax, and the thing I keep thinking about. The boat is really cool and the staff are great. It feels real, not scripted. I would absolutely do this again. Even if just to argue about food preferences with the tour operators!

We had an incredible time on the Violet Mac with Captain Colin! As a local, I've been on almost every Harbour Tour there is, but this one was most definitely my absolute favourite! The boat was cute as all get out (the first mate played the yukele!) and with only six seats, we managed to have a private sunset tour. We emailed ahead to confirm details as we were planning the tour to be a birthday surprise - not only were they quick to respond, they also helped with logistics and even had a wee treat onboard for the birthday babe! Very charming and affordable - definitely the Harbour's best kept secret.

A great laid-back tour of the Halifax Harbour! A great way to see the city from a new perspective, without an overly crowded boat. Easy to access from the waterfront, and a fully electric boat to travel in a more environmentally-friendly way. Highly recommend to anyone looking to see Halifax from the water - I’ll be back the next time I’m in the city!

I booked this tour as part of an anniversary celebration with my husband. I booked all seats so we could have a private tour and it was amazing! We really enjoyed our guide and Colin our captain was equally wonderful! We did the 6pm tour & it was perfect. There was a slight breeze and sun was setting. We got beautiful pictures of the waterfront. I highly recommend this harbor tour!

We LOVED this experience. A laid back your without the crowds or fuss. A tour guide who kept us informed and entertained but not annoyed (thank you Kara) and a captain who made sure we felt the breeze but didn’t get sick (thank you Collin). The sights we passed were beautiful. We took the 6:00 pm tour. My favourite part was the boat itself, which has had signifiant handcrafted work. It was a truly charming and intimate experience that let us sit back and enjoy the sea. We are so glad we booked this and would highly recommend it to others!

It was a great boat ride along the harbour, but definitely NOT a tour. We like to take tours when we travel to learn about the area we are visiting. There was very little info given, and when the girl was asked a question, she didn’t know the answer and had to ask the captain. Apparently she has only lived in Halifax for about a year and doesn’t know the area. Just point out the buildings and areas along the harbour front, how hard can that be. Again, it was a very nice boat ride, in a very unique boat, but that was it. Was definitely NOT a tour and we were very disappointed.
