Voyageurs Outfitters is a great company to work with. We were so excited to go on our canoe trip but my husband was diagnosed with Covid-19 just days before our planned trip. Eric was so kind and flexible during our trip. We booked a boat taxi to and from our campsite with kayak rentals. There was a mix-up of when the boat taxi would take off, but he found a time that worked great for us. Especially noteworthy, was the fact that we had to suddenly leave a day early and he squeezed us into his schedule for a pickup, snatching us and our camping gear JUST before the rain came. He even called to help us get our forgotten cooler back. Eric was a great help during our trip!

Updated Review: Communication from this company was vague, making our rental experience a little confusing. It was difficult to reach them over the phone or over email. However, in the end they were able to accommodate changes to our request and did it free of charge which was nice of them to do. Rental equipment was also in good condition

We were referred by a local friend. We rented a pontoon for $300 one day and paid an extra $40 to have it “dropped off” at the Rainy Lake Visitor Center. We made the reservation at least a month in advance. Arrival instructions were super vague, when we called to ask questions he was very rude, Eric showed up 10 minutes late. The pontoon was old, the canopy bars were there but the fabric was gone, boat was very dirty and all the seats had been sloppily repaired with tape. He told me it had been giving him problems while idling but showed me how to use the choke…..ultimately we had a nice day with no unrecoverable problems. The GPS worked well and he gave us good suggestions for day areas. I’d probably rent a pontoon from him again if I couldn’t find one anywhere else.

Our family loved our trip to Voyageurs National Park and it was due in large part to the help before and during the trip of Eric from Voyageurs Outfitters. He helped us decide what campsite would be best for our family (it was awesome) and got us ferried out and back from our own "private" island. Most importantly he was amazingly responsive when a portion of our group got caught paddling in very dangerous weather. Eric dropped everything he was doing and hustled out to where we were beached, rescued us and got us back safely to our campsite. His care and concern for us was amazing. This was a wonderful trip that was a little out of our comfort zone, but made accessible thanks to Eric and Voyageurs Outfitters.

My family (two adults, two small kids) made a reservation at Voyageurs Outfitters (VO) for a couple of canoes. The canoes and equipment were at the designated pickup and Eric was very easy to work with. It was as easy as showing up to the visitors center, walking 100 yards, picking our canoes, and putting them in the water. We will definitely use VO again when we come back to Voyageurs NP.

Booked 2 canoes online. When we arrived at the visitor center, there were 2 canoes waiting for us, but that was the only good thing. One canoe was probably built in the 70s with wooden boards for seats. The other looked like the bottom had been walked on and so was almost flat. When we called, all they said was that the wooden seats just "wedged in' and they would refund the money but couldn't supply different canoes. Based on the amount of money spent, this was a huge disappointment, but we had no other choice. They functioned as badly as they looked and made getting back in some light wind very difficult due to the drag and not being able to track due to the bottom. An outfitter should not be sending out poor quality rentals especially at the high cost charged.

We took the 6 hour Kettle Falls tour but had to cut the tour short due to windy conditions. Our tour guide Eric was great. Shared lots of information about the park and was quick to answer our questions. We saw bald eagles and other wildlife. Great way to see Voyager. Highly recommend Voyager Outfitters

Rented a kayak for Voyageurs National Park. The kayak was there when I arrived and did not sink. Other than that, the tie downs were rope rather than elastic, the seat was unpadded and uncomfortable, no foot braces, and I had to slide into a pretty narrow hole to get situated in the vessel. Plus, the cargo holds didn't even have covers, seriously?

My husband and I were looking forward to our boat trip to Voyagers National Park and booked the trip through Voyagers Outfitters. Unfortunately my husband and I were involved in an accident and couldn’t make our trip to MN. Voyagers Outfitters kindly refunded our payment in spite of being outside the 30 day minimum. This is the type of business my husband and I really appreciate and we will be making reservations with them in the future! Thank you Voyagers Outfitters!

Make note that many of the local boating-related businesses will ask not to be paid until the full service has been received because they understand the power this system has to encourage good service. This is not one of those companies - we paid in full upfront only to receive defective rental equipment and get left behind at the dock for a scheduled tour, both without any offer of recompense. Communication from this company is vague, misleading, and often simply ill-mannered. We will not consider them in the future and will be advising our friends to do the same. Edit: Eric, thanks for reminding me. I missed the part where we were late because you decided to wait until 40 minutes prior to departure to tell us that we had to bring our own lunch to the tour. You may want to change the description on your website that states "we will be visiting the historical Kettle Falls Hotel for lunch." Although if you had tried contacting us, then you would have known we were actually on site before you departed (assuming you waited five minutes like you claim). Also, your statement about not being contacted regarding a refund was because you already blew us off once in person when we tried to address the lesser issue of the broken equipment. Since you clearly can't be bothered to take care of even the minor issues, how can we trust you to handle the large ones?

Canoe was in good condition, made for a great trip. We decided to alter our reservation halfway through and change the canoe return method and Eric was very responsive to doing so. One small detail- I do wish their facility had a business sign to verify we were in the right place. A simple phone call was able to do that though.

We rented two tents but one of it was broken, so we had to improvise with broken gears when we got to our campsite. When we told the owner after the trip, he offered no apology nor refunds. Update: the owner said it was never brought to his attention that was not true. He was there when we returned the gears and we told him the tent was broken. He simply said okay thank you but offered no apology nor refund. Also, I’ve rented gears elsewhere too. Simply put his gears were in pretty bad shape and dirty.

We rented camping gear from their website and one of the tents had a large hole in the bottom. When returning, the owner Eric only said “thank you, just put it down anywhere” but didn’t actually check which one is the broken one and didn’t even apologize or offer a refund. We also booked a six-hour boat tour for the same day we returned the camping gear. Eric said “see you guys around 10” when we dropped off the gear. Unfortunately, we were delayed at a railroad crossing and arrived at the visitor center parking lot at 9:58 am. When we arrived the dock at 10:07 am, he was already gone. He knew we were on the way and didn’t even call us to check. Paid $1000+ in advance for a service we never even received.

Not the best experience. Not sure which canoe was ours. You’d think they’d label somehow whose is whose. Instead it’s a free for all. Luckily we got there before the group that got there right after us. The canoe the other group had a big leak that they weren’t able to use the canoe. The hole was very visible in there canoe. They called the company and got no answer so they just had to wait for them to call back. It wasn’t like our canoe was much better. It had so many dents all over And had a slow leak that the canoe would be half full with water by the time we got to campsite 5 miles away at mio beach. For the price you’d think they’d have better than canoes. Edit It is not here say. The group behind us was loading their canoes at the same time. I witnessed their canoe firsthand. Also witnessed them call firsthand. I also had a conversation with them about it. So not a misrepresentation.
