pretty ok. easy to get tickets when arriving at the right time and the boat is pretty spacious. theres street parking and private lots all over the area where the boat comes out so driving to the attraction is not a huge issue, however the island is pretty small so driving does not make much sense if you are downtown anyways. we walked here from our hotel and got the tickets pretty nice and easy. they have military discounts so make sure to ask for it. as the people come on board everyone tried to get seats outside, I must say it was pretty cold outside and the trip is pretty lengthy so by the time you reach the high point of the attraction people have already moved around so do not worry about where to sit when you coming in the boat, things will chance I can guarantee. there is a lot of history being told here so make sure to pay attention, it is a pretty interesting trip. there is no guarantee you will actually see the whales, we saw some penguins the puffy ones and that was super cool, but no whales. we got to find out a lot of interesting facts about the area on the trip and they also offer an SCREECHING ceremony during the trip, only you will not kiss the cod. but it was cool to do it on the boat none the less. if you stay inside the cabin I must say for me it did not work, I got a lot more nauseous there than outside on the top deck, so if you get a little nauseous try going up it is a lot better in my opinion. this is overall in my opinion something you should do while here for the experience for sure, however you may be let down for not seeing the wildlife you are looking for during the trip so do not have your hopes super high so you do not get very disappointed. oh make sure to bring some very warm clothes you may need it.
Took this tour in the Fall of 2021 with family and it was absolutely amazing. After visiting their Twillingate location last year, we had to try their St. John’s location. We had breathtaking views of the coastline, saw sea birds such as puffins, and we even saw a sun fish! Captain Barry and the crew were both accommodating and knowledgeable. They provided commentary on the history of St. John’s Harbour, surrounding communities, and the most easterly point in North America, Cape Spear! The boat was super clean and had ample seating both inside and out. Would recommend this tour to anyone!
Lots of fun! Great, friendly and helpful staff, live music and narration by the Captain all helped make the trip memorable. We really enjoyed the Screetched-in ceremony! Thank you Iceberg Quest!
They kept us out an hour extra to be sure we got a chance to see an iceberg! we also got to see two types of whales- a humpback and a Minke. The Screeching to become an honorary Newfoundlander was also a fun little adventure while on the boat. I highly recommend!
Excellent adventure! A well guided tour that gives you a different perspective on the city and port of St. John's. Dress warm :)
Excellent and professional service. The staff is very friendly and engaging. Informational and fun experience!
If you are in newfoundland even for just the day, make sure you do the iceberg quest ocean tour. The staff are wonderful (shout out my boy glen) but it's just a beautiful breathtaking feeling to be out on the ocean, and there is a bit of history you learn as well as seeing some wildlife. worth every penny
Great Tour and very friendly staff. Seen icebergs and sea birds. Really awesome experience.
Amazing trip! We saw a group of dolphins following our boat and a few whales - gorgeous experience! We also saw a lot of puffins and other birds. The skill of the staff is excellent!
Amazing Experience! Friendly, fun group of guys who gave a very informative tour. No whales because of the time of year but we learned about St John's port, the caves and cliffs, saw a bald eagle and drank some local beer.
The staff made this journey an even greater experience. Glen stood out his welcoming personality and knowledge of the Avalon Peninsula is why I gave 5 star service.
Outstanding tour!!! They have a licensed bar on board, made sure we saw whales and dolphins, did an honorary screech-in for 6 of us and had one of their tour guides perform some traditional fiddle music for us. Best $80 spent out here.
Phenomenal! Small price to pay to see so much. Money well spent! Crew were helpful, informative and incredibly pleasant. Why come from away and not get out on the ocean?
My wife and four grand kids came from Winnipeg for vacation. We took the Iceberg & Whale tour hoping that we would see some whale sightings. Although we didn't see any icebergs because it was too late and warm, we saw more whale sightings than expected. Thanks to the captain who knew where to go. We enjoyed the trip. A few people had sea sickness including 2 of my grand kids.
Amazing tour. The boat was clean and comfortable, the crew were very friendly. The day I was booked originally was forecast to be bad weather so they called me ahead of time to rebook for a better day which was very nice. Highly recommend!
Standard boat tour from st. John's. Have a nice historical blurb as we left the harbour. We saw some wildlife as well.
Wonderful hospitality and entertainment onboard the Iceberg Quest, if you don't have this on your things to do this summer you should, you won't be disappointed! Many thanks to Captain Barry and all the gang aboard Iceberg Quest!!
Love Iceberg Quest Boat Turs, our experince was fantastic. Saw icebergs, even got to taste one. Friendly staff
Really boring. My main issue with this tour is how the crew member giving the tour seemed highly uninterested in his speech. The microphone/ speaker was way too soft. $ 70 + tax is not worth it for such monotone commentary. Views were not that amazing either.
Got some amazing views and pictures. The staff were welcoming and took the chance to answer questions. Highly recommended. Dress appropriately
What an amazing adventure we had today on this whale watching tour!! The crew are amazing, the experience was amazing, whales, puffins, bald eagles all seen this morning, I highly recommend Iceberg Quest Ocean Tours and definitely would go on this adventure again.
Went on a boat tour last month with my co-workers and got lucky to won 2 tickets for Concert Cruise the other day. Both boat tour experience was fun! So happy to see whales, puffins, tunas and sunfishes! The staff are nice and very approachable. Will definitely recommend this to my friends! ????
A must-do when visiting St-Johns!
Just really nice people, the tour was great and we saw a breach by a hump back whale.
Seen some whales and a beautiful ice burg, explianations of the history and commentary was great, very knowledgeable
Had a fantastic time on our Concert Cruise! Fred Jorgensen was captivating, he’s a true NL treasure. The crew was incredibly friendly and helpful. Will go again for sure! Highly recommend.
No-showed for our tour, leaving us standing on the dock wondering what happened
It was thoughtful, not too long, and with friendly staff.
UNREAL! Went in early July and saw 6 whales, a big pod of dolphins, and a diverse range of seabirds. Plus the view of St. John’s from the water can’t be beat. Thanks for a great time.
Got to see some whales, and even puffins! Very nice staff. They helped me out when I fell seasick. Grab some Gravol just in case, along with some cash, they don't have a credit card terminal for drinks. They serve alcohol.
I absolutely do not recommend this boat tour. One of the owners is extremely rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional. Find another boat tour that will value your money and presence.
A little pricey, but you get a great view of the whales, the ocean, and St. John's.
An absolute beauty of an experience. The scenery, music, and staff are deadly. Make sure to talk to Glenn!
friendly, engaging, interesting, tons of whales!
highly recommend friendly staff ???????????? see you soon.
Our first time on a harbour cruise but definitely not our last!! We couldn’t have been better looked after - Glen is the BOMB. He made sure we were warm, looked after our young passenger (danced with her, gave up his toque for her, took her up to see the captain and even found some smarties for her.) ♥️ He worked so hard to make sure everyone was taken care of and having fun. So much energy in one body!! The music was spectacular (Con O’Brien) and the rest of the crew was great too.
Amazing and got to see and iceberg calving!
Best
Do not miss this tour, it's a spectacular way to see st John's and the local area
Beautiful and funny! I recommend it!
I've always wanted to see Icebergs and this was a definitely great tour to see this. The staff was amazing, very friendly and so helpful. Especially Eric I believe was his name (from Peterborough and goes to McMaster)! thank you again!!!
(Translated) The company offers boat tours from the harbor in St. John's. As the name suggests, iceberg and whale watching tours. With a bit of luck, icebergs can be seen from June to early July at the latest, whales more often. We were here in mid-July and saw 3 humpback whales, sea eagles and puffins. (Original) Das Unternehmen bietet Bootstouren vom Hafen in St. John's an.
Had a good time. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Great time. The crew was friendly and helpful.
Highly recommend the St John’s waterfront boat tour - all of the staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable. It was a great experience - beautiful views on the water, we saw a bunch of whales, as well as some puffins and sea birds. Would love to do it again some time.
Pricey but fantastic experience and whole crew work hard to make your trip enjoyable. Genuine folks and really enjoyed the Screech In ????
Great trip!! The mama and baby whale were so fun! They knew exactly where to go!
Fun ride great young men
One of the better boat tours in St. Johns
Was a fun ride, saw some Sunfish Sharks, and enjoyed being officially Screeched In.
There were no whales and no icebergs. And while I understand that nature can be unpredictable, a great step would be to provide unsuccessful tourists with a consolation, considering the price of the tour. A beverage back at port would be a nice touch. (Twillingate location)
Wow... fun friendly staff. Clean well maintained boat. Great beer! The Capt did a great job in the rough sea. 20,000 year old iceberg was awe inspiring. This was the highlight of our trip to your Beautiful island. Thanks Iceberg Quest! !
Great team and a fabulous experience! The tour starts from a central location, the team is very professional and fun. Great response time, we were able to reschedule our tour easily over the phone. The crew was very welcoming and had a great sense of humor. Boat is well stocked - Beverages, Quick bites and a washroom, even with a few jackets for those who underestimate the weather's unpredictability :) The crew is very friendly and knowledgable about the coastline, history and the marine life. Special mention to Glenn for making the tour interactive and welcoming. Hope to be back during the next season!
The tour was incredible! The scenery was beautiful and the crew was top notch, keeping the entire experience fun and informative. Highly recommend.
best hospitality, excellent approach towards customers, nice staff
History, great views and whales. Got my first taste of Iceberg beer! Wonderful experience.

Awesome tour
Lovely place.harbor pictures. St.johns nfw. ????
Apart from the seasickness, it was ok
We were thrilled with the fact that we got to see whales. Many of them as a matter if fact. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable
Great boat tour and we got to see icebergs! Not sure why they were serving drinks down below with the captain going down as well. Only thing that would have been nice would be for the staff to be more honest when booking ahead of time and guaranteeing this seasom was full of everything possible to see, when in fact it was not in season for certain animals to be around.
We didn't see any whales, puffins, or icebergs. I understand that there are things you can't control, but what bothered me is that this wasn't even addressed. The person on the microphone sharing the history of the coast, and the landmarks we passed, didn't seem very interested.
Lots of fun. Crew were very personable and helpful. We saw some humpback whales. We even got screeched-in and got a certificate too! Recommended!
My daughter and I went on the tour this morning our first time. Couldn’t ask for any better, the crew were absolutely amazing. Thanks Glen for the hospitality as making it a trip we’ll never forget! And also to Fogo Tyler, great young man, and great with people
Glenn was chill! I enjoyed the nice day out drinking with friends and family.
A scenic boat tour with lovely staff, a bar, and delightful historical stories by a local captain.
We want to see whales
My wife, son (12) and I went on the Iceberg Quest Ocean Tour in August 2018. The crew were awesome and the views were fantastic (Signal Hill, Cape Spear Lighthouse, etc.).. so different that what you would see from the land side. Although we didn’t actually see icebergs, we sill had Iceberg beer on the boat which were delicious :)
This was my first time being on a boat tour and couldn't ask for anything better. The crew was friendly and well knowledgeable about the surroundings. Big thank you to Glen to make everyone feel warm and welcome.
My three girlfriends and I had a great afternoon out on the open water…a view we could never see from anywhere else. Everyone on board was so fun and the fact we could drink beer while being escorted along the gorgeous coastline respectfully looking for whales and anything else they thought we would find interesting, was magical! I would take all our visiting friends on this tour for the quality and for the convenience. Cheers!
The boat was cleaned well and safety procedures explained at the beginning of the trip. There is a canteen available with snacks and drinks for purchase. We saw humpback whales and dolphins. There was several reminders that they wanted reviews on TripAdvisor (announcements, business cards, and even a reminder as you walk off the boat) to the point I felt like they could have used that time to tell us more about what we were seeing and give a good experience instead of make the next sale.
An absolutely must do when you're in Newfoundland. So good we went twice in the same day! Oh, and you have to get Screeched in!!!
Terrible tour because the locals all told me that there’s NO icebergs right now. And there’s NO whales right now. Yet the tour company says that you will see these things. Also didn’t see any puffers. Total jerks. Even the staff agreed it was fraudulent to lead people to sew these things when they knew we wouldn’t. DO NOT waste your time or money. We paid $150 to sit on a boat for 2 hours freezing, no heat on the boat for a tour of the bay.
The tour was incredible! The scenery was beautiful and the crew was top notch, keeping the entire experience fun and informative. Highly recommend.
Very nice experience
Great staff.
End of the season tour... no whales and such but I knew it was too late (end of sept) great crew good knowledge...my son's first time to St John's we will be back and do this tour again. Some great photos of the swells and waves.
We had a wonderful time! I went today with my family including my adventurous toddler. The staff and crew were so sweet and accommodating to my little guy who became tired halfway through the tour! The captain was very knowledgable on all the scenery on route. It was a perfect experience and I will definitely be back again.
highly recommend friendly staff ???????????? see you soon.
Great tour, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We spotted Puffins, Gannets, Dolfins, Minke wales and a pair of Hump back wales.
Great boat ride, no iceberg or whales, but did see an eagle. Crew is fun and everyone had a good time.
The scenery and service is wonderful. The boat ride was the best one I have ever been on!
Heat service and detailed tour guide
The day before our boat tour, we were able to explore Signal Hill, Cape Spear, Fort Amherst so it was great being able to see those sights again but in a different perspective. The tour that we took was about 2 hours long and the crew was very knowledgeable and nice. This was a small two story boat with bathrooms on site. We went in Mid September so we knew we weren't going to see any icebergs but we did see a bald eagle. Even though we didn't see a whale, the tour was totally worth it; the views were spectacular. I highly recommend it.
Two hours extreme tour on the ocean. Bet on your luck for whale watching or iceberg hunting. Very hospitable operators. You can get more knowledge about St John's.
An excellent tour of St. John's with friendly serivce, a detailed history lesson and great music! We even got a hold of some chunks of iceberg and enjoyed them in our Diet Pepsi. Such an amazing experience! Thank you Iceberg Quest!
The boat tour itself was great but we had poor service with booking the tour.
The crew was friendly and the boat itself is well maintained. We opted for this tour because of its proximity to our hotel. We would definitely book this sightseeing cruise again.
Enjoyable tour.
Highly recommend it...the Captain and crew members are very compassionate about their visitors on board having a fantastic time.... ande they have great entertainment for all!???? ???? ???? ???? music and laughter the whole time..
The icebergs were breathtaking! Wish we saw whales in June!
Great tour
We had an awesome time on the 11:30 sailing this morning despite the slight rainfall at the beginning. Very informative and a wonderful, friendly crew. Definitely will recommend to anyone we know travelling to St. John’s.
Amazing, knowledgeable crew with amazing views and amazing animals
Been on their tour a few times. Great tour to go, just go experience it for yourself and make up your own mind, I think you'll be going back.
Advertise as whale and iceberg excursion but never even left the outer harbour..didn't see anything I couldn't see from shore better...if all you want is a boat ride this excursion is for you, otherwise don't waste your money
Great service but no whales seen people were great
Amazing experience with them today! Very friendly and positive people. Loved it today and would definitely be going back
Fantastic day made even better by the staff
Great tour! Perfect location on the waterfront. 2 hour ride for about $80 taxes in. Pleasant crew. Saw lots of whales! The city, Signal Hill & Cape Spear look amazing from the water! Was a beautiful day on the water!
Actually I've been fortunate enough to have been on the Twillingate tour as well as the St. John's tour and i have to tell you they were both marvelous experiences! Having salt water in my blood of course the first things I consider are the boat and crew! In both cases they were impeccable! The weather was perfect on both trips although the more delicate might want to bring a sweater! There were icebergs and a few whales and wobbly water was available to those who felt the need for adult beverages! In Twillingate it was myself and my family and a few friends and we.had a wonderful trip! In St. John's it was myself and a group of visiting Irish women and men and once again Skipper Barry Rogers and his crew provided all with a memorable experience! If you go to Newfoundland make a point of visiting Twillingate and St. John's and take a tour with Skipper Barry! It will give you memories to last a lifetime!
I took in one of the newly offered (this year) concert cruises last weekend. What a time! We were treated like royalty on the boat, the service was spectacular. The traditional Newfoundland live music out on the Atlantic was an amazing experience through and through. We had a wonderful trip with about 50 whales, as far as the eye could see. Honestly didn’t know where to look half the time because there were so many! I know it’s not a guarantee to see whales every trip, but if they’re out there, Captain Barry and his crew will find them! Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area and locals alike! I’m a local and enjoyed this to the fullest. Will definitely be checking out again before the summer is out!
Great staff, and crew.
Very nice people run the tour
A great view of the coast, fun history facts, and friendly staff. This tour is very accessible if you don't have a vehicle as it is right downtown at the St. John's harbour. The captains are experienced and know how to handle rough seas. If there are whales out in the water during your tour they will find them. If not you will get a lovely tour of the coast and harbour.
Nice little 2 hr boat excursion
What an amazing adventure with a great crew! We had a superb time even though we could not see any whales. We saw sunfish and puffins. 5*****
Great time! Lots of sightings...
Fun time on the boat. Staff were entertaining. No whales but its also not really whale season. We got Screeched in....sorta. No Cod to kiss but it was fun anyway.
Great tour. Very knowledgeable staff. Saw icebergs up close, lovely. No puffins or whales but wasn't the season for them. Be prepared to be extremely seasick if you have a weak stomach. Bring your own vomit bags as they tend to run out, and the bathrooms can get a bit icky. But overall a very memorable experience!
Captain Barry and the lads are absolutely charming. Great tour. The music was fantastic and loved all the tidbits of info. Definitely recommend a tour out to sea.
You’d be dumb not to go whale watching here, such an amazing time.
This was absolutely phenomenal! Had the privilege of being on board when a whale breached 75 times. Just amazing. Great team on their staff!
Crew was very respectful & professional! The crew interacted with the customers and were very knowledgeable with the history of Newfoundland! Thanks again to Capt Barry, Glenn ,& Nathan for making our experience to St John’s a good on! Thanks Crew!
Great boat toars around the island to see whales and puffin. Amazing to see the wildlife up so close. Definately should go if you have the chance!
Beautiful day for a sail with Iceberg Quest Ocean Tours…Captain Barry and the staff went above and beyond to make the trip very enjoyable! Great to hear Arthur O’Brien singing on board. And Glenn…he was the absolute best. Will definitely be on board again! Thanks to all!
Had a fantastic time! Crew were enthusiastic and professional, scenery and wildlife were amazing. The best part of our Newfoundland trip complete with live music! Highly recommend
Amazing experience. Glen in particular made our trip so much more special with his other worldly level of generosity and kindness.
My husband and I went out on this tour in late September and we had the best time!! The crew was fantastic and so fun and knowledgeable. The sites were incredible and we saw a large group of dolphins! We got screeched in and just thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We would highly recommend it!!
The crew was great and made this tour really fun. Learned some interesting facts about Newfoundland as well. Will definitely be back again!
It's over rated
They took us to where we drove days before. Didnt see much but caves and couple ships. Plan ahead and find out when the attractions are around. We showed up when everthing passed so we really had nothing to see. Why can you drink booze on a ship but not have a smoke? Hahaha
It was a fantastic time. Great crew and captain. I'd recommend it to everyone. They also offer concert tours and what better way to experience icebergs, the Scenery, whales and much more then with live music and a few drinks.
Super friendly and helpful staff, well-appointed vessel with all amenities you could ever possibly need, a very informative tour through St. John’s harbour out to Cape Spear, and overall a wonderful experience!
Great Tour, very nice people! Well worth it!

I highly recommend a boat tour in Newfoundland but I don't particularly recommend this one. If it's your only option then go for it scenery is amazing and seeing icebergs from the water is great. But this particular tour had very little information from the staff and they did not seem to be personally knowledgeable about the area instead reading off of a script. The staff seemed very new to the job and didn't seem great at boat operations or providing a good tour experience. However they did get the boat to the places that are good to see. The Captain spent a lot of time driving the boat parallel to the swells on the ocean when I went out which resulted in the boat rolling a lot and a lot of people ended up getting seasick. Despite this negative review I do recommend you a boat or Newfoundland and even do this one if it's your only option but personally I had a much better experience with the boat toar that left from the bay bulls and witless Bay Area where I have none of the above mentioned complaints. I only hope that the an experience of the staff for Iceberg Quest is because it was early in the season maybe after a few months they will be better.
No whales, ice bergs or puffins but the staff made it so interesting - they were all great! Beautiful views ????
Amazing. Worth every penny. The crew really knew what they werd doing and made sure we were having a good time. They serve beer as well.
I had an amazing time on the Iceberg Quest on Saturday. We had a foggy, rainy day and made the absolute best of it. The captain was great and took us to see Quidi Vidi because the fog was too thick in Cape Spear. I'm from the island and didn't know about most of the birds we seen. They told us facts about different significant building, type of birds and whales. We seen a bald eagle and a few people thought they seen a whale. We went along the shoreline and took stops to try spotting different things. It was a great trip! We had 11 people screeched in and live music on the end of our tour. keep up the amazing tours!
One of the best experiences of my life!!????
We had an amazing trip on Iceberg Quest back in September. The captain and crew were very friendly and informative. Safety demos well explained as well as where to get an ice cold beer! The crew were able to find humpback whales late in the season, all by sight! We had such a fun day and can’t wait to get onboard with Iceberg Quest next summer!
I’m extremely disappointed with this tour. Firstly the speakers are not good enough to make out what is being said. But mostly because the whole reason we booked this trip on a freezing cold boat for two hours was to see an iceberg. Seeing as this is called the iceberg quest and all the pictures online show pictures of whales and icebergs this has been completely uneventful. While I understand whales are out of your control, the girl working on this boat said that the icebergs are too far out and that was known before we left. This is information we should have been told before leaving. It’s very misleading to bring people out here knowing that they wouldn’t see an iceberg. This has been a very cold disappointing tour of nothing that we wanted to see. I even talked to the lady across the street who owns the store Irene’s and she told me that people come in all the time complaining of the same things I am. She said there’s no whales or ice bergs at all right now from the side of St. John’s we took the tour from, and it’s corrupt that this company is selling this tour. I tried contacting the owner 4times but no one has enough care or respect to even write back. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. All this is, is an expensive boat ride.
(Translated) It was a very enjoyable experience. You can walk from the hotel as it is from the port of St. John's. I could not see the ax, but I could see the iceberg twice. One was very large (100m in width) and it was very impressive that it was shaken by the waves and rotated in the longitudinal direction. On board, drinks including alcohol and snacks are sold. Not so high. The staff was very kind and talked to me who is coming alone. The sea is very cold, so we recommend that you keep it cold. It's good advantage that I can go to tour from St john's harbor. I could n’t see the whale, but I saw very big iceberg! I learned that icebergs vertically! They are not so expensive. Staffs are very kind! You can buy beverages including alcohol and snacks in the ship. I recommend you to wear in layers because it's really cold near the iceberg. Great and impressive experience. It’s good advantage that I can go to tour from St john’s harbor. I couldn’t see the whale, but I saw very big iceberg! I learned that iceberg rotates vertically! You can buy beverages including alcohol and snacks in the ship. They are not so expensive. Staffs are very kind! I recommend you to wear in layers because it’s really cold near the iceberg.
Had a wonderful time on this tour out of the harbour in St. John's! Fantastic crew, very helpful and friendly! Will do it again.
Highly recommend. They crew is very knowledgeable, fun and accommodating. I generally never write a review, but they this experience was too impressive not to let others know. Definitely worth the trip.
Had an amazing time on the sunset concert Cruise! The atmosphere was great, the drinks were great and the music was great! Will be coming back again! 10/10!
Basically a boat tour. Do not take this if you are trying to see whales or iceberg. I understand there are times where there are just no whales near by, but this one is ridiculous. When asked how do they track whales, we were told they don't, they have no equipment or radar, they basically just drive around (not even far from the harbor may I add), in hope the whale will just magically come. This is a joke. A few other friends took a different tour with another company on the same day, and was able to tracked down and saw whales. Horrible disappointment. Will never do this tour again.
Awesome service. Had an amazing time.
The crew were very friendly and knowledgeable . Worth the money! Thank you ????
Fun, but cold trip out. Great views, even from the head! Get Screeched was entertaining!
A must do while on the Avalon. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, a great time.
Great experience!! We had 27 family members on the tour and everybody had a blast!!
I really enjoyed this boat tour (particularly if you like rocking on sea, haha~), although at this season, we didn’t get to see whale or iceberg, but we saw other wildlife like sunfish, bald eagles etc. And the boat crews are really nice! We had the screechers ceremony at the end. That was fun. Recommend this tour!
Great zodiac ride. Dean went above and beyond to show us many aspects of this beautiful coastline. No whales but the scenery made the ride more than worth while.
Great day on the ocean.
Did their boat tour in August. No iceberg, no whales. Their website gave the impression that there are icebergs all year round. A little disclaimer would have set the right expectations. IF the sun is out and IF you book a morning tour (like I did), you will be rewarded with great views of the beautiful city of Saint John's and Cape Spear, since the sun will illuminate the area nicely. Otherwise, forget about good, postcard-worthy photos. The tour did not start on time, is very expensive, and the overall quality was far from stellar, at least during my visit. If circumstances were different, my review might have been more favorable.
They were nice and helpful, and knowledgeable about whales. During the tour we got to see many whales and dolphins. Was totally worth it!
Captain Barry and his first mate Glenn were amazing, friendly and a real treat to enjoy the day on the water with. Highly recommend when you’re in St. John’s you look this company up and take the tour.
Great tour of the Icebergs around St. Johns Harbour and we also saw Cape Spear. The staff works hard to make the trip fun. I was there when it was raining cats and dogs but we still got great pictures of the icebergs. Highly recommend it.
The crew were remarkable. Had a good time even though we didn’t see any whales. Very informative and accommodating. The crew was very engaged the whole trip. I will recommend it to anyone coming to “the Rock”
We were very disappointed in this tour. We had a foggy day, which of course the company can’t help. However, when touring with another company, Twillingate Adventure Tours, we weren’t even allowed to pay until they decided if the tour would go ahead- that is, they would have cancelled the tour if it was too fogged in to see. Not iceberg quest - they went ahead. Knowing that we wouldn’t have good weather, I had really hoped we would have operators who would share local knowledge and stories with us (which I did experience on another company’s tour, O’briens). Nope. The staff barely communicated with us, so we had a tour that was very boring - low visibility and almost no talking. The convenience of this tour docking right in St. John’s harbour is probably the main reason they get the traffic that they do but we certainly won’t take them again. I suggest people head a brief drive to O’Brien’s or even better head up island to Twillingate and head out on a tour with Twillingate Adventure Tours. We have renamed this company “Iceberg reQuest your money back”.
staff very friendly and helpfull of local knowledge. would recommend anytime
We had a great time. Lots of whales
Great tour of St John’s harbour & viewing rugged beautiful coastline. Appreciated the explanations & narrative provided by the crew. The “Screeching Ceremony” was fun as well. I highly recommend.
We arrived at the dock just as they were pulling up the loading ramp. One of the crew asked if we wanted to come along and we said if we weren’t to late we’d love to come. They quickly unloaded the dock and helped us aboard. We were thrilled! The tour was beautiful and the crew was amazing. They passed on a lot of historical information, they circled around sun fish so we could have a good look and the even followed a whale for a considerable distance so we could get a better view. It was a marvellous tour… would highly recommend it!
Awesome way to see icebergs and whales and a discount price
One of the best boat tours i have ever done, this particular one had live music, the whales were a plenty which made for a fantastic evening.
We had such a great time with Captain Barry and his crew on Saturday. It was a perfect way to get out on the water, support local and enjoy our own backyard. The entire crew was terrific, Jason was particularly attentive and informative, we really appreciated chatting with him. Iceberg Quest's attention to safety on the water and the extra Covid precautions made us feel extra safe. It was a perfect day and we can't wait to go again.
Had several amazing tours with iceberg quest! Well worth taking a tour!
Fun tour with friendly staff who made extra effort to make sure everyone had a great viewing experience. ????
Awesome tour
I don't even like to give a single star for this tour company. As they had nothing to show and they very well knew that, even before they started the trip. We never saw even a single puffin or any whales and just arrived ashore to see another group of people ready to be boarded. They said whales couldn't be spotted bcoz of the fog. If that's the case how can they spot the whales in another one hours time in the same weather condition. If they were genuine they could have said this to the people about to be going on the next trip. But they didn't say anything and just boarded the boat and took them knowing very well they would not be able to show them anything. We wasted a 195$ for 3 people for nothing. They don't care about the money people spend. They are cheating the people. They carry on with the trip even if the weather conditions are not suitable for whale sightings. Not recommended for anyone.
We had an amazing time on this boat tour! The views of the rugged coastline were wonderful. The crew was funny, informative, accommodating and attentive. There was some rocking on the boat that could make one feel queasy and the crew went above and beyond to ensure everyone felt safe and comfortable.
