Wonderful chocolate discoveries along with interesting information about the city and its churches. Highly recommend this experience!

What a great tour! Our host and guide Bonnie not only knew about all of the great places we stopped to eat and drink , but she also gave our group a good history of Victoria and Vancouver Island. All of our stops offered something different, from fine local cuisine to wine tasting to local versions of international foods. And everything was delicious. Anyone who had dietary limitations was easily accommodated. Just an all around excellent experience with no complaints.

Brenda Josephs

Had a great time exploring and eating our way around downtown Victoria! Our guide was excellent

I ordered the Brown Bag lunch from this local company and I was so impressed and pleased with the products we received. We not only enjoyed a delicious meal but were introduced to other local companies that we will now become customers of!!! Thank you and I can't wait to do a food tour when they are available! It would be a wonderful event for travellers (when we are able!).

As Victoria locals, we still love going on Off the Eaten Track food tours. We get to discover new restaurants we may not have known about and menu items that we would never think to order. I've been on two tours with Brenda and she's so lovely, informative and friendly. Highly recommend.

Emilee Nimetz

Delicious snacks from all around town! So happy to support local all the time but ESPECIALLY during these crazy times were in.

As a local of Victoria, I was very impressed with the Gourmet Victoria Dinner & Drinks Tour. All of the restaurants we went to were new (to us!) and were extremely delicious. As a local, finding new hidden gems in the city is awesome, and I can attest that I have already been back to 2 of the places we visited! Bonnie & Brenda were amazing tour guides, we were introduced to many neat historic facts about the city.

Joanne Gaul

a terrific way to spend a rainy afternoon! Brenda and Bonnie were fun, informative and kept us moving through the best chocolate in Victoria and 3 beautiful churches. I learned a lot of history and met some new friends!

The Eat like a Canadian Tour is just what I had hoped for! We sampled all delicious Canadian food and even got some behind the scenes access! Our guide, Benda, was a pleasure and she was very knowledgable about Victoria and the places we ate at. All of the restaurants and shops we visited were delicious and I had not been to any of them before! I definitely recommend this tour for anyone who wants to have a fun time, walk around the city, and eat like a Canadian!

What a wonderful afternoon, eating and sipping with fabulous Brenda, our guide. She was very knowledgeable, witty and super friendly. Just enough history, good info. Very good pace and got doggie bags. Highly recommend.

I ordered the Mother’s Day delicious treat Brown bag for two. It was on time, to the door, and an indulgent meal. Thanks for taking the time to put this together so I felt I was supporting our wonderful local businesses in a very hard time. I would totally recommend it and would order again! Thanks Off the Eaten Track for your unique and local culture

Brenda was fun and informative, the food was great and the History fantastic. I would recommend this tour (Historic Chinatown) or any of the other tours to my friends and clients.

As this was our first trip to Victoria, and only for 1 day, we wanted to get the most out of our day as possible. This tour was by far the best food tour, and tour in general, we could have asked for! Our guide, Mary Lou, was amazing and incredibly knowledgeable about Victoria, the food, and the history as well. They are not kidding when they say wear comfy shoes, you do quite a bit of walking, but it’s sprinkled with amazing treats and stories. We are so grateful that we chose this tour - you will not be disappointed!!

We went of the Downtown tour on a nice afternoon. Brenda took us around, gave us info on the history of the areas we walked, about the architecture, about the people and characters related to a spot, was able to answer any question that came to mind - very informed guide. The food we tried was delicious and unique and she got us to meet the chefs and owners and they told us in their own words about their products. Took us to places that the locals would frequent instead of the chains or trendy locations on the main drag. Enough samples that you are full after the 2 hour walk - don't snack before you show up ????

Off the Eaten Track really knows the food scene in Victoria. Their walking tours take you to a great selection of the best eateries where locals go for quality authentic food and quaint atmosphere. At each stop on the tour, they tell a story about the origins of the food, the people who create it, and some behind the scenes info that make the experience unique. Along the way, they provide interesting historical and architectural highlights about Victoria. This tour is a must for visitors and locals looking to get acquainted with the exciting and ever changing food scene in Victoria.

This tour was OK -- some of the stops were great (we did the Downtown Tour), but most were pretty mediocre and the portions were quite small at most of the stops. We've had great fun (and food) with other food tours in other cities, so I suppose we came to this with high hopes, but we really didn't feel that it delivered for the $ and time investment.

Simon Ashcroft

Mary lou was a fantastic guide and took us on the best food tour of Victoria, every stop was exceptional and well thought out. I will do this again

I was looking for a unique gift for my mom and since tours aren't really a thing right now, I noticed this company offering Brown Bag Tours. What a great idea! The bag contained a variety of local meats, cheeses, bread, sweets and more and my mom loved it. Purchasing the bag was super easy, communications from the owner Bonnie were timely and professional and delivery was on time and speedy. Highly recommended.

It was a group of us from work that went on the Modern Chinatown food tour. It was fantastic! I've lived around downtown for over 10 years and had never visited any of these places before, so that was great to discover new places to eat! Our tour guide Brenda was informative, funny, and passionate, so she was a real joy. Our private tour set-up and admin with Bonnie was so easy and professional. I highly recommend Off the Eaten Track for company/group events.

Cobi Rieger

We had a great experience on the Chocolates and Churches tour with Brenda! She was very friendly, informative, and funny! We were glad to do this tour at the beginning of our trip; we have enjoyed returning to many of the yummy local spots throughout the remainder of our time in Victoria! We would highly recommend this fun, informative, and delicious tour!

We had an amazing time on the Downtown City Food Tour! Our guide, Bonnie, was wonderful and told us interesting stories about the city as we walked from destination to destination. We discovered so many restaurants in our new city and received many yummy samples from different places. We loved this food tour and are looking forward to doing another one soon!

I’ve had the pleasure of being on a few tours with Off the Eaten Track and all of them were awesome! I love how the tours take you on a culinary journey around parts of town that you wouldn’t normally think to explore. Tasting your way through neighbourhoods while learning about the history is a fabulous way to explore. I’d highly recommend their culinary tours as a super entertaining way to explore a neighbourhood through your tastebuds.

We were very impressed with this tour, and Brenda was a fantastic guide! The restaurants and pairings were wonderful and really gave us an intimate feel of Victoria...one we will never forget!

My husband and I are locals but wanted to do something with our stepdaughter who isn’t - we picked the church and chocolate tour for something different. Loved it! Learned a ton of stuff about our home - enjoyed fabulous treats - guide was super knowledgeable and we will definitely take on doing other tours! A great activity to remind ourselves of all the amazing features of home. (And bonus racked up 7000 + steps!)

I spotted the Brown Bag Food Tour while looking for delivery options for my 25th wedding anniversary, and ordered the "small brown bag" as a shared treat for our midday meal. It was delicious, my husband and I both loved everything! The pies (Victoria Pie) and bao buns (Bao Victoria) were the highlights for us, but we also enjoyed the salami/cheese selection (Bull & Sons Deli), the assortment of delicate macarons (La Roux Patisserie), and 2 different soft drinks from Phillips Brewerie. The bag of handmade caramels from Tout de Sweet was a big hit too. We ordered an add-on of coffee beans from 2% Jazz, and they were pre-ground (per our request) to perfection for our French press - so good! Altogether a fantastic experience, efficiently delivered to our door. We will do this again soon - curious to see what new items the brown bags will contain next month! Such a fabulous way to help out local restaurants and keep everyone safe at the same time.

I'm glad that I read a previous review! Take that extra bag because you're going to receive generous servings. Each stop was a tasty delight. Our guide described the history of each venue and introduced the owners. She was enthusiastic and full of Victoria knowledge.

Kimberly Steele

Energetic and knowledgeable guide with a variety of food and wine tastings. We loved it!

I got to experience the Modern Chinatown Food and History tour and really enjoyed it! Bonnie was our lovely tour guide. Loved every single one of the food stops and loved learning about the history behind this beautiful city. I felt that the tour was nicely planned out, with many locations that offer washrooms and quality food stops! I definitely recommend this tour if you’re looking for a fun way to enjoy Victoria.

This was a very enjoyable tour. There was plenty of excellent chocolate, in surprisingly different forms. Our guide, Brenda, was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing many interesting stories about the chocolate shops and churches. I highly recommend this tour.

We had a wonderful time on our tour. I love getting to know cities this way! Our guide was extremely nice and very knowledgeable about the city and it's history. We had plenty of yummy food and were stuffed by the end. We even got to go to a amazing brewery! She also recommended places for us to eat/drink/stay! 10/10 for the tour and the tour guide!

Our tour guide Bonnie was super knowledgeable, the tour was interesting and the food was amazing. Definitely do not eat anything before you come, it’s a lot of very good food from local victoria based restaurants!

Sorrel Marks

A fun way to get to know the rich history of Victoria. Perfect treat for locals or visitors. I am local and this is the third tour I've taken, each different and wonderful.

We had an amazing time on the Downtown Victoria food tour. Our guide Marylou and all the staff at each stop were very hospitable and gave lots of interesting information on the food and the city and were happy to answer any questions. Each stop had delicious and unique samples. I'm so happy we chose to do this tour near the beginning of our stay in Victoria!

Brenda did a fantastic job guiding our tour. We lucked out as it was just 4 of us (3 family members + 1 solo traveler from Germany). Did a nice job of pacing - did seem like 2.5 hours. Food choices were perfect and good mix of local entrepreneurs. Coffee or tea to start, savory pie (family favorite), poutine, Chinese dumplings, sweet bean buns, beer, candy, macarons, and ice cream. More than enough to eat. Would highly recommend.

We got the Mother’s Day Brown Bag and it was great. There was nothing better than watching my wife and daughter share this delectable local sampling. Fun watching them sampling new things and enjoying it all. Loved it. Thank you so much.

Jeffrey Pater

Truly a wonderful experience. Our guide Bonnie was so knowledgeable and friendly. She showed us unique places and we tried food that I would not have had normally. I had such a good time. They even catered to my spouse's vegetarianism. I highly recommend them. Along with food recommendations we learned a detailed history of Victoria.

Denise Ryan

Yesterday my brother and I went on the Eaten Track Downtown Victoria food tour and it was really good. The food locations that Boonie took us too were great tasting. Boonie was very interesting and informative. I would definitely go on another tour. Thanks Bonnie.

April Levigne

Although not everything in the brown bag appealed to everyone in our house, we all enjoyed the anticipation and opportunity to try new foods from local providers from the comfort of our home. We will definitely be trying more things from the companies highlighted! Thank you for providing such a unique experience!

I recently ordered the Brown Bag Food Tour and was beyond impressed with the professionalism, friendliness, and quality offered by Off The Eaten Track. I appreciate the effort that went in to preparing the Brown Bags and I'm happy to have the option to support local vendors during this time. I also appreciate the vegetarian options. I would certainly recommend and look forward to doing a walking tour someday when they are back up and running!

Purchased a Brown Bag Food Tour as a belated birthday gift for a friend. It was an absolute hit! Brilliant idea!

My partner and I were given a gift voucher for the Downtown Food and City Tour and it was hands down the best tour we have ever been on. It was very well organized, our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and so funny, she had us in stitches so many times! It was so cool getting to meet the food establishment owners and hear directly from them about the food and the story of how they started their business, the portions were big, such a variety of different things to try and went to places we never would have found. Our guide went the extra mile making sure we had a bag for any food we wanted to save for later and helped us find the local wine shop afterwards so we could purchase some wine for a dinner picnic with out leftover that evening! Would highly recommend!!

Had a wonderful tour with Brenda. Learned so much about the food culture and history of Victoria.

We ordered a small brown bag for 2. The delivery was extremely prompt within the suggested 30 min delivery window given the day prior. The food was delicious and an excellent way to help support local businesses while practicing social distancing. We also received a gift certificate to use later once they are able to offer tours again, and will we might even order again next month when the boxes change!

Lorraine Howarth

This was an amazing afternoon. Great historical information on the city, with stops at some fun, unique and very tasty food stops. I'm not a big walker as I wear two knee braces and suffer with a lot of pain. This was so WORTH it. I would do it again. Our guide was informative and the tour was so fun. It's a must do for everyone. Even if your not a tourist I bet you would fine something new about your own backyard. Give it a try.

Me and my best friend went on the Food & City tour and had a fantastic time! Brenda (our tour guide) shared information about the history of the city, introduced us to locals (which is very nice as I newly moved to Victoria), and of course shared amazing places to find delicious food! Every stop where we got to have a snack was a place that I’ve never noticed and probably wouldn’t have gone in myself but each place had an AMAZING snack to share! The tour doesn’t just go to Victoria’s “top 10 restaurants” that come up when you google it, it’s rather full of small hidden gems. I definitely would recommend this tour!

I have truly the time spent touring and eating my way through Victoria's Chinatown. Brenda's enthusiasm and knowledge made it a pleasant stroll on a sunny Sunday morning. There was the right balance of historical information to keep me attentive and engaged. The selection of the different eateries offered a variety of savoury and sweet tasty treats!

Traci Luchinski

Love these guys!! Best service and such a cool idea. We always look forward to our brown bags!

Our “Knife & Fort Street Culinary Tour” was a great “foodie” experience; most enjoyable and one of the best. Bonnie, our host (and the business owner), was most attentive and well connected with the small business community; as well as being knowledgeable of many small details of the city’s historical/architectural landmarks. The tour provided great insight into a variety of authentic multi-cultural outlets, each serving up more than ample samples of their fare. By tour end, our stomachs were full! The "walking" part also introduced us to a number of little gems that we would otherwise have missed. Definitely to be recommended, and not just for visitors; “locals” too will be well-served by “Off the Eaten Track”.

Pam Smith

Such a delicious treat and great way to keep supporting local businesses!

Sara Webster

You will be very lucky if Bonnie is your tour guide! She’s completely relatable and a wealth of knowledge! I learned a ton and enjoyed some delicious food and beverages along the way.

C & S Poettcker

Such a great tour! Brenda was funny, very knowledgeable and just an amazing person! So fun to try different local foods and hear the stories of how they came to open up their restaurants and shops! The food was delicious and I came away knowing I would need to skip my next meal! I would bring friends on this tour again in a heartbeat!

Brenda was a wonderful guide. We learned so much about the culture and history of Victoria. The food was amazing too, more adventurous that what I’d do on my own but what a great way to expand my horizons. Our only regret was we did this on our last night and then had to leave with still so many places to explore!

Karen Drebert

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon with witty Brenda touring 8 different locations in downtown Victoria. We never would have found these on our own. Delicious- great tour. We would highly recommend this tour to others.

Linda Whitehouse

Such delicious food and punctual delivery.

Janice MacVicar

Informative, delicious and fun. If Brenda ever stops being a tour guide she can have a job as a stand up comedienne! She was so very knowledgeable and fun. And the food stops were delicious and it was great meeting all of the proprietors. Highly recommended

Jessica Barnes

Wonderful experience with a friendly guide, lots of good food to try!

Ann Carroll

Our guide was Brenda. She was an enthusiastic person and a joy to be with. She was so knowledgeable about Victoria and made it fun. I would recommend this tour to anyone. Bring your appetite and be adventurous.

Shauna Loewen-Schmidt

We loved all of the restaurants and felt they were Covid-appropriate with the exception of the charcuterie place. Everything was on one board for 2 families with toothpicks- for nuts, big pieces of cheese and crackers - each family should have had their own board. They also were not ready for us. We Loved the owner- though the employee who talked to us was somewhat pompous. We went back the next day to 3 of the places we toured! Also enjoyed our host who clearly loves local businesses and Victoria!!

Katrina Bystedt

Bonnie is absolutely wonderful. She is passionate about the Victoria food scene and it shows through her delivery. We are locals and took this tour because it sounded interesting and a fun activity to do in the city given we all have to staycation at the moment! The tour was filled with interesting history tidbits that I didn’t know, and I’ve lived here my entire life! The samples you get are diverse, plentiful and you even get to choose some! We had a wonderful time - so if you’re thinking of trying this out - do! You’re guaranteed to have a grand time.
