Absolutely stoked with our decision to go with 50 North Aventures! Skipper Dean was the number one recommendation given to us by the Campbell River Info centre and was the perfect skipper - he customized a diverse itinerary of fishing, whale watching and over 100km of beautiful sight seeing around the nearby islands! He even took us to Refuge Cove where we enjoyed a few fresh salmon burgers and delocious pizza for lunch along with a few beers in the sunshine. We were stoked to see a bit of everything and would highly recommend this private chatter experience to any groups of 3-6 visiting Vancouver Island!

Dean was amazing! Professional but laid back. We had a gorgeous day whale watching and Dean was such a good fishing coach! We took 2 huge salmon back to dock! Worth every penny and more! His boat is also extremely clean and comfortable. Has a washroom and everything! Thank you so much Dean! We will be back to see you for sure.

I was actually referred to 50 North Adventures by another local tour company that cancelled on our group at 5:45pm the day before our trip was scheduled. Not only did Dean answer the phone after hours, but he was extremely accommodating and promised to squeeze us in despite the short notice. In retrospect, am I ever glad I came across 50 North Adventures even though it was by complete chance! Dean was an AMAZING tour guide. He was so generous with his time, openly shared his knowledge of the local history and geography of the area, and offered to set us up with other tourism services in the future. We were able to stop on one of the local islands for a tour of an old trading outpost that was absolutely spectacular. This man is a local treasure and the entire Campbell River tourism industry is extremely lucky to have him. Oh, I should also mention that we were lucky enough to enjoy a 45 minute Orca show towards the end of our tour. We will definitely be back in the near future.

Dean was such an amazing skipper. He was great with the kids and knew so much about the area and the wildlife. We were lucky to have caught a big salmon on our big tour around the islands, and Dean was such a good coach. We got to see a pod of Pacific white-sided dolphins and a humpback whale. The whole adventure was magical and will be doing it again for sure!

We had 50 North host our annual staff party aboard three fishing vessels, and it was a wonderful experience. The guides were entertaining and kept us all engaged and relaxed. My staff had a wonderful team building experience. We have decided to make this an annual trip because of how well it all went! We saw whales and caught huge salmon, and enjoyed the natural beauty of the Discovery Passage and Campbell River. Thank you Dean!!

Beautiful first day of the season, Dean set us up with the first chinook within 10 minutes of the hooks in. We had a great morning with lots of bites thanks to Dean and came home with the freezer at limit plus a little catch/release. That and getting to hear Dean's story - the boat and the fish are half the fun but going with friends and a funny and interesting guide....and some fantastic weather cap it off. Sweet rig too.

Dean is an amazing guide... He teaches you about the equipment, the fish, and how to keep them on the hook when they bite! He has a great sense of humor and works hard for you when you are out with him! His boat is very comfortable, clean and just purely enjoyable to be on! A day with Dean is a little day of heaven... Loved my experience with him so much we are going to make it a yearly event!

Enjoyed a Whale watching and fishing combo tour this weekend and I seriously can not explain how fun this tour was! You really get to enjoy it all in one tour. Dean was a blast to spend the day with and really took the time to explain and teach us about the surroundings and how to fish. We saw humpback whales, porpoises and caught many fish. The boat is super comfortable and my 3 year old also had a blast. We will be for sure booking another tour when we have company visiting us on the island!

Had an amazing time on the water with Dean today. Great service, great chat, and amazing scenery. Saw humpback whales & seals, spent some time salmon fishing, took in the sights, checked out a waterfall, and had a great lunch stop in Refuge cove which was a super small and cozy community with a classic Canadian atmosphere. A relaxed tour full of sights and activities. It was just the 4 of us in our group, making it feel like a private charter. Excellent bang for buck. Dean spent extra time on the water with us than was originally in the itinerary, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. Highly recommend!!

Where to start?! As a Campbell River local it blew my mind seeing as much as we did in just a few hours, all right in my own backyard. Dean was super knowledgeable, easily answering all our questions and explaining our unique ecosystem. He respects the wildlife and kept the boat close enough to see but not too close as to stress the animals out. We were able to enjoy cruising along side a family of transient Orcas, countless humpbacks - one breaching completely out of the water-, seals, birds and even we got to catch some fish. It doesn’t get much better than a day of laughter and good chat while out on the water enjoying our amazing home.

Did a combo fishing and whaling adventure with Dean. It was fantastic. Saw about a dozen orcas and a humpback. Caught salmon. Missed a couple others. Overall such a fantastic way to spend a day. Best to have no or low expectations since you are dealing with nature but Dean does a lot to help increase those odds of seeing and catching. Thanks for one of the best days our family has ever enjoyed.

Dean was great! Knew a lot about the area and was an interesting person as well. Definitely knew a lot about fishing and was good at directing some of the newer fisher women in our tour! We even saw some cool porpoises and caught a good size chinook. I highly recommend this company!
