This is about the roadside assistance that I received last night in GUELPH (not like I was in the middle of nowhere!)...
My car broke down on the road and I was able to get it into a parking lot near where it broke down. I called CAA at 6:13pm. I was told that the tow truck would be anywhere from 14 minutes to an hour and a half (what kind of range is that?!) At 7:15pm, no sign of the truck so I called again. I had another person answer, so I had to explain my situation again. She reported that a truck had been dispatched and that it would be to my location in 20 minutes. At 8:00pm, still no truck. It was dark, I was a single female alone in a dark parking lot, and was starting to feel very unsafe (and had lost my chance at getting into Hyundai before it closed). I called back again and spoke to a THIRD person. Again, had to tell my story. He put me on a "brief" hold (over 20 minutes) to then tell me it would be another 45 minutes to an hour. At this point, I had been stuck in the car for over 2 hours. I went to the nearest Tim's (20-minute walk on a dark road). When I was walking back, I saw an empty CAA tow truck drive past me. At this point, I called and spoke to a FOURTH person...now I had told my story 4 times. She said that the truck had been dispatched and would arrive at 9:40pm. In total, I waited 3.5 hours for a tow truck in a pretty central location in a larger city. The only saving grace was the truck driver, Jake, was very nice! However, he told me that he had just started Friday and was working 17 hours days...and last night was supposed to be his day off! If this is how this company wants to conduct business, I will be taking my money elsewhere
