I had a great time with Marc-André in our Old Montreal Walking Tour. Living from Montreal, my cousin who was visiting Montreal wanted to discover the old part of the city. They say it's a 2 hours walking tour, but it last a bit more than that. I recommend it to everyone looking to experience the Old Montreal as it's best. I really enjoyed discovering the underground system et some back alleys. Thanks Free Montreal Tours!

Our tour guide was Darren. We had a fantastic time learning about Montreal's history. Darren was funny and extremely knowledgeable. He shared SO MUCH interesting information, we are still digesting it all. Very well-rounded information about the sites (always mentioned the architecture), history and even Canadian culture that we might not know. Especially found the history about the women in Montreal fascinating. Would love to do a tour just on them one day! Darren also offered many tips for where to go and what to eat. We will be basing much of our future days on the good advice he offered. Highly recommend. Would do a tour with Darren again anytime!

Excellent tour of old Montreal, very detailed and informative ! Basically a walking history lesson of the city of Montreal since the guide did speak about other nieghborhoods and gave us suggestions of places to visit.

Caroline was a great guide! Very fun, funny, and informative. I've done the 'free tours' from different companies in cities all over the world, and I find they're a great way to orient yourself to a city and to learn about things to do. Free Montreal Tours was the only one I could find in Montreal, but they were very professional, but still fun, and shared a lot of the history of the city that you wouldn't have known from just walking around on your own. The pace was good, we had lots of time at each stop to look around and take photos while listening to Caroline's interesting historical stories. We covered a lot of ground and Caroline was always helpful and able to answer questions. My only suggestion is to have a clearer/larger sign or indication of the meet-up location, as I almost didn't find Caroline at the meet-up spot. I'd gone straight to another person in the same square who was holding an umbrella (which in other cities is a known sign of a tour guide), and when I realized it wasn't the right person, I almost gave up and left because I couldn't see anyone else who looked like a guide. Fortunately I noticed some people standing around Caroline, and as I got closer I could see that she had a small sign and an official lanyard (which it turns out is the way to identify a guide in Montreal) - perhaps they could note this in their meet-up instructions to make the guides easier to find?

We really enjoyed the tour with Darren. I would recommend going on your first or second day in the city because you get some good tips about what events are on in the city and what to do on your trip. The guide was very knowledgeable and told us all about how Montreal came to be what it is today including architecture, commerce and culture. Would highly recommend. Make sure to tip your guide!

The tour was great. The tour guide answered all of our questions. Just make sure you have enough time because it usually takes longer than it says in the email. But you can leave at anytime. They appreciate money, „big thank yous“ and hugs (if you don’t have money) :)

I'm a huge fan of walking tours whenever I visit a new city (only thing better is a walking food tour), plus this is free, so I was excited to try it out. The meeting point was easy to find so we were already off to a good start there. Our guide was Etienne and he was the best. He was funny, engaging, entertained a lot of questions, and was everything you'd expect a good guide to be. The tour was about 3 hours but it flew by quickly. We learned a lot about Montreal, the French vs English aspect, and so much about the buildings, the area, and even history on some of the food. There's a bathroom break built it which was nice to stop and rest a bit, and given that it was a super hot day, Etienne tried to make sure we didn't have to stop and stand in the sun much. Overall, it was a great tour and I'd highly recommend it to anyone going to Montreal.

His witty quips and sense of humour were the most enjoying part of the tour which never let us bore on this two and a half hour tour. Great overview of the city both as it is today, how it started and how it has developed. We learned about the buildings, the language and even food too. We've learned to always do a walking tour when we first arrive to a new city so that we can hear about all that is going on and to know what highlights we should come back to do more in depth.

I had a great time on the tour! We had around 20 people, which didn't feel too large - the streets were pretty quiet on a Monday evening. Kim was an excellent guide, providing bits of history integrated with interesting anecdotes, especially about life in Montreal today. It was really great to hear the back story of various buildings/emblems in Old Town, and she even took us inside a couple places. The tour went a little bit over, which was totally fine, but something to keep in mind if you have somewhere to be afterwards. Highly recommend!

Kim was wonderful, knowledgeable, and entertaining. The tour covered so many of the areas of Old Montreal, and gave us a feel for what we wanted to do next. In a little over 2 hours we really felt we had learned a lot. It is a free tour. so she only makes what you tip her at the end. She only mentioned the tip once near the beginning of the the tour and not again at the end. So we were glad when people came up to her with tips. She really earned them.
