We offer you the reviews of real people like you who purchased the products of Discover Banff Tours (Travel Agency) in Banff (Canada).
To this day the firm gets a score of 4.5 over 5 and that rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
As you can read, its rating is practically the highest, and it's based on a very large number of scores, so we can be pretty sure that the score is very credible. If people have bothered to give their score when they are satisfied with the service, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to place tatings when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! Do not do anything through this company! Booked the "Cowboy Cookout" and was so excited for this excursion. The tour was supposed to start at 5:00pm. Arrived at 4:55pm and they refused to admit me because i was "late". Additionally they refused to refund me. THEY ARE CROOKS!
We went out on the evening Johnston Canyon icewalk on Saturday March 14. Our guide Heidi was fun and informative.???? Best part was the sound of the water coming out from the ice & the stars were simply amazing!! Thx Heidi for a fun evening out! Sebastian & Rhona
This was a wonderful experience, Well run with knowledgeable workers.
Fantastic experience. Very knowledgable guide. Perfect for a myriad of activities. We did Johnston Canyon Icewalk. Unforgettable
I had a great time on the Banff Chairlift! The views at the top are spectacular! We went early at 9am on a Saturday and it wasn’t crowded.
Amazing adventure. Get to feel like a real mountain climber. I’m personally afraid of heights so this was quite a victory. Our guide Robbie was wonderful and helpful. The 4hr ridge walker is perfect. Highly recommend using their gloves. Easier than a rock wall but still requires some level of personal fitness.
My husband, his elderly mother and myself went to Yamnuska Wolf dog Sanctuary for the interpretive tour. The staff were more than obliging to allow us to take my mother in law's walker with us but a staff member would remove it from the enclosed so as not to frighten the wolves. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wolves. I would highly recommend Yamnuska for a visit!!!!
Great experience ! the best way to discover Banff if you don't have a car. And even if you have a car ! Gina, our guide was so knowledgable it was great to learn about the Banff National Park, its history and the wildlife. Did the Ice walk in the Johnston Canyon (magical) and the Discover Wildlife tours (also great). I can't recommend these tours enough ! Big thank you to Gina :)
Great experience on our Lake Louise and Morain Lake tour with Heidi! She was very informative, engaging and fun.
First of all our tour guide Emma was awesome! She took us to many places and even made stops to wherever we asked (for snacks). Super informative and I would say great value for the price. Got some awesome pictures and would definitely recommend to friends.
Tour: Lake Louise and Moraine Lake Guide: Matt Had an amazing day out with perfect weather for the start of the season. Moraine Lake is not yet open so we just enjoyed a couple more stops on the way up to Lake Louise, along with a full hour there. Matt was incredibly knowledgeable and funny, did not talk incessantly (which is a downfall for many tour guides), and was happy to answer any and all questions (of which I asked many). He had some excellent stories to share and overall it was a really great day. Really recommend this tour for those staying in Banff.
We did the Icewalk tour in Johnston Canyon with Chris our guide this winter. It was a wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend them!
Our ice walk with Gina was excellent! I can't speak highly enough about Gina as our guide. She was so happy to be leading our walk. She was super prepared, on time, had cookies and hot chocolate for us, snow boots, etc. She had so much positive energy and was hilarious. It is very clear that Gina loves her job. Her knowledge of nature was like walking with an encyclopedia. I felt like I had taken a science class by the end of it - a fun science class. She is filled with interesting facts about everything. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on our beautiful ice walk!
Walk in here for a True Banff explorations
I joined 3 tours in two days, nice experience!
Amazing tour guides. Great tour packages! Definitely worth it!
I really enjoyed my time at the Wolf Dog sanctuary. The guides were very informative and the Wolf dogs were amazing. It has given me even more respect for the Wolf, including the part it plays in maintaining the natures balance, it’s social structure and intelligence. And also the myths and fallacies about Wolves which man created. I highly recommend that you visit the sanctuary and also do the interactive tour.
Enjoyed the evening Jackson Canyon tour very much! Unfortunately didn’t get to see many stars but walking through the canyon at night is such a different experience. Our tour guide Scott Berry was probably the absolute best tour guide I have ever encountered. I highly recommend using this company.
We had two separate tours with Discover Banff Tours and would highly recommend them to get the moat out of your visit to Banff!
I went on the Johnston Canyon Icewalk with my wife and we had a very enjoyable experience. Our guide was very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth the money.
We enjoyed an amazing helicopter tour up to Marvel Pass on our honeymoon. Discover Banff Tours worked with me on changing my reservation and communicated the details of our day perfectly leading up to the tour. Definitely recommend!
I did two tours with these guys and both of the tour guides were polite, friendly, and very knowledgable. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to see bears up close, walk on a glacier, or visit some of the amazing crystal clear glacier fed lakes and rivers that Banff, Jasper and Yoho national parks have on show. My only quibble with them is that while the day tours are long (10 hours), as they cover a lot of ground, some of the stops felt rushed (particularly on the Grizzly tour), it would benefit from adding an additional hour onto the tour so you can spend an extra 10-15 minutes at each of the stops.
Enjoyable experience. Friendly, knowledgable staff. Purchased the Evening Wildlife Safari with Discover Banff Tours after receiving it as a Breakaway Experience gift. All staff interacted with on phone to manage booking and guide (Peter) on tour were friendly, knowledgeable and patient. The experience was enjoyable.
We booked two tours, the snowshoe to Paint Pots and Johnston Canyon Icewalk. Our tour guides, Jeff (snowshoe) and Heidi (icewalk) were wonderful. They were very knowledgeable about the area, the history and other fun facts. They told great stories and were very entertaining. And were great photographers! Highly recommend!
Great fun with the family tubing at Mount Norquay.
Our guide Eli made the trip seem really attainable. Always there to give guidance and wait when others needed additional support or instruction. Very personable! The route was great as well, a good combination of climbs and hikes.
We loved our guided Ice walk! the guide was very patient, a lot of knowledge of the local area and geology. Nick answered all our questions, pointed out very interesting formations on the drive and the walk. lovely local tips to enjoy the area after tour too! Must do if you plan to visit Banff!
We went rafting as a group of 9; 3 kids (5, 7, 9) and adults between 24-65. It was a perfect family trip and Josh was an excellent guide. I recommend the Chinook rafting tour to anyone looking for a family adventure. The cost is worth it, and the whole trip is well organized, clean, highly prepared for families and very safe. 10/10 recommend, especially if you get to have Josh as your guide!
Myself and two friends signed up for the 6 hour Summiteer Via Ferrata. It was an incredible experience (not for the faint of heart) and only made better by the expertise, supportiveness/patience, and friendliness of our guide! It was well worth the money, and I would certainly do it again.
Good people here!
Great time at Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Very informative and knowledgeable
Grotto Canyon Icewalk was awesome! Our tour guide, Jordan, made this tour so worth it! He was very helpful, good-humored, and encouraging. We were able to be picked up at a nearby hotel in Canmore and he had all the gear we needed. I had worn shoes that possibly could have gotten wet and Jordan had extra pairs of boots that we could borrow to save our own. We got to see a nice hidden gem off the tourist track that included hiking on a frozen creek bed, looking at 15,000 year old cave drawings, and watching ice-climbers on frozen waterfalls. To top it off we got really good hot cocoa and maple cookies halfway through the journey to enjoy in the sunshine. Couldn't have asked for a better hike!
We enjoyed the lake cruise and Gondola. Beautiful and fun experiences. The tour guide and captain of the cruise were informative and funny. Definitely coming back when anyone visits wants to go. Bundles make the experiences more affordable
Front desk lady needs serious customer service training ! Enjoyed the ride, but her behavior left a very bad taste. The tour guide was very professional and engaging, 5 stars to her.
Rob was a great guide, very interactive and friendly. Johnston Canyon was a wonderful hike. Great job.
One of the highlights of our recent trip to Alberta was our Lake Louise Sightseeing tour with Jeff and Discover Banff Tours! I highly recommend this tour company and make sure to book Jeff as your tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the history, wildlife, and shared stories that made the trip engaging. Jeff was very personable and made the tour a memorable experience. He provided delicious maple cream cookies from Quebec, hot chocolate, and water. This was definitely the icing on the cake. Thank you Jeff and Discover Banff Tours for making our tour so personable!
The tours offered here are the best way to see the highlights of Banff, especially for those on a time budget. The staff is incredibly friendly and insightful, and you can tell they really know their facts! The tours are usually done in small groups which is a great way to see the sights and get a lot of information on them. Heidi and Rose are amazing tour guides that really know their stuff and make you feel extremely welcomed in Banff. Would highly recommend the Discover Banff and It's Wildlife tour and the Johnston Canyon Icewalk tour!
Really great staff to help you find daily activities around Banff. I can’t recommend these guys enough, you NEED to see them for your Banff tours!
We went on the evening wildlife safari. We got to see elk, mountain sheep, and a bear on our tour. Our tour guide Jeff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and had a lot of great stories to tell. It was also the perfect time to drive around to get some nice views and pictures.
I took the afternoon discovery tour of Johnston canyon . Neil was the guide. It was an awesome experience and Neil was so knowledgeable and friendly. Great afternoon exploring and I would highly recommend this tour.
We went snowshoeing and it was awesome. The sun was shining making it the perfect day for adventure. Aaron was an amazing tour guide - very kind, considerate and funny! He gets an A+ for successfully making taffy, too!
(Translated) The experience was excellent, from the initial information, the purchase and the event itself. Stormm, our host, excellent attitude, good training, is part of the group, always cordial and attentive to each member. Definitely recommendable. (Original) La experiencia fue excelente, desde la información inicial, la compra y el evento mismo. Stormm, nuestro anfitrión, excelente actitud, buena capacitación, integra el grupo, siempre cordial y al pendiente de cada integrante. Definitivamente recomendable.
Terrible experience we booked tours with them and they failed to contact the tour providers that we booked a trip. we didn't get picked up by the tour companies bus and had to cancel the reservations. Don't book with Discover Banff just contact the tour company directly it's cheaper too.
Our tour guide Gina was absolutely amazing on our Lake Louise Fall Sight Seeing tour. She really knows how to cater to your needs as a tourist. She is very knowledgeable and very engaging with groups. Since my cousin and I were visiting Alberta for the first time, Gina gave amazing food and hike recommendations. She really knows the area well and she deserves more than a $25 gift card. GO GINA! HAHA
We hiked Larch Valley with Jesse and our expectations were met and exceeded. Jesse (fighting a cold) was one of the best guides we have ever had - he offered up a spare backpack and hiking poles (we were not the most prepared) and was a treasure-trove of information. Most importantly, we felt safe and he really made our group bond with his great humor and cheer. While you can probably figure out this hike on your own, it’s absolutely worth booking a guide to save the hassle of parking and for feeling safe in “bear country.” They also know all the good photo/lunch spots! Re: the Larch Valley hike, it starts right at Moraine Lake and then you hit some moderate switchbacks for about 1.5 - 2 miles before opening up into a beautiful glacial valley/meadow. All total it is about 5-6 miles with some phenomenal views. Thank you again Jesse!!
It was a very good tour and rhonie our tour guide is so nice even to my grandma (mama) she always consider my grandma that can't be able to walk that far. She is so funny and entertaining. I recommend this tour agency to other people looking for respectful professional tour guide. We enjoy our sightseeing and wildlife tour. Thumbs up discover banff.
In Johnston canyon the ice cream shop was rude to my mom just because he didn't want to wait two minutes for me and my grandma to get back from the trail my mom says she asked him and he says no we're closed and shuts the window on my mom and walks away and barley told my mom the cafe next to us sells soft serve ice cream that guy earned his shop a 0.1 other than that it is was beautiful
A family night out on the evening Johnston Canyon walk. Jeff H our guide was entertaining and knowledgable, even helped with our camera ????. Night time walking offers a completely different experience and for us the stars were out in force.
Tour guide was friendly and funny. She knew what she was talking about and really enjoyed what she was doing.
We joined the Bear tour on Sunday 23 August and Matt was our tour guide. A very knowledgeable and friendly guy with a clear passion for the wildlife in the park. He was very informative (cross checking with us it was not too much) and told some nice stories and did his utmost to ensure we all had a good time. It was a pity that Boo was sleeping in the back of his area, nevertheless we had a great day, not only thanks to the nice weather but also thanks to Matt! Peter and Marleen, The Netherlands
We had such an amazing adventure today! Thanks to Gina, our guide, for her amazing personality, knowledge about so many things, and for sharing delicious hot chocolate and maple cookies. Oh, and her photography skills made our photos for travelwith2harts on Instagram that much better! This excursion was the perfect balance of beauty, exploration, experiencing new things, and just enough physical exertion to keep us warm! Thanks Gina, you really helped make this experience special!
Gina and Rob were the best for our group tour on Christmas Day through Grotto - friendly, informative and all ‘round awesome ????????
Our dog sledding tour was cancelled that day and the same day we booked this just for something to do and Neil from discover Banff tours took myself and my girlfriend on the best snow shoeing tour ever. Extremely informative about Banff, history of Banff and made us the best taffy ever
Great experience with Ed on our guided Ice Walk! We learned so much about the geology and history of the canyon, as well as enjoyed all the beautiful views of the frozen waterfalls. Ed made sure everyone was comfortable and safe throughout the hike and kept us entertained with fun conversations. This hike is a little more strenuous than a flat hike, but the pace was good and Ed stopped often to allow us to catch our breath and regroup. Would happily book this tour again in the future!
We could not have asked for a better day. Matt was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. We felt like we were hiking with an old friend! He offered his expertise, fun facts about our surroundings and went above and beyond to give us a day we will never forget. We are so grateful!
The climb was fantastic and we had an amazing guide (Ian). It was an incredible day thanks for the wonderful experience.
Did the Johnston Canyon Tour and snowshoeing through Marble Canyon. Great tours. Glenn was our tour guide for snowshoeing and he was funny and awesome. I forget the first guide's name for the canyon but he was also amazing. Glad we went.
Both tours that I took were amazing and memorable. Matt’s background and knowledge of the area and wildlife enhanced the tour greatly. I enjoyed the ice walk through Johnston Canyon in the morning and snow shoeing in the afternoon. Both tours were intimate and fun! Hands down would do it again and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Banff, especially in winter!
I did four excursions during my stay in Banff- evening safari with Denis, Hike to Castle Mountain with Bri, Boo with Nicole, and. Way from Banff to Jasper with Dave. Every tour guide is full of knowledge of Rockies, enthusiastic and generous, trying to provide best service and memories to us. Also, they are all really into nature and educate us the right attitude to wild animals. Really appreciated. The logistic team is also amazing, quick response to get things done. Lunch is awesome as well.
We booked a 30 minute horse carriage trip to Downtown Banff paid $147. We only got an email of the receipt, no reminders about any precautionary measures they practice with regards to COVID or a pick up point where we need to go (first time at Banff) so it took us a while to find where it is located, we just saw a carriage parked at the back of Royal Hotel We were 5 MINUTES late arriving and we did not get a refund. I understand that it was partly our fault But I am still expecting a voucher in case we return next year or at least deduct 5 minutes to our 30 minutes booking trip or at maybe a 50% return of our hard earned money. This was the worst experience we had at our Banff trip and I suggest that if you are a person with disability who can barely walk do not book this trip as they don’t give you any consolation of some sort. I will not recommend this to my family and friends.
I took several tours with Discover Banff. Lake Louise/Moraine Lake with the affable Irishman Ed, Evening Wildlife with charming Welshman Chris (who was great with kids), and the Columbia Ice Fields with amAzing Anick. They were all top notch, but Anick helped me immensely when I booked a tour that took me back to Banff, when I thought I'd booked the one continuing to Jasper! She called Discover Banff and within minutes Dani had me booked on an affordable connecting shuttle so I could go to Jasper after the Ice Fields Parkway Tour. She made sure I logged on to the center's Wi-Fi and downloaded my ticket, called several times to confirm and get exact details, coordinated with Brewster, showed me exactly where to wait for the shuttle, and just took care of me 110%. I can never repay such great kindness and professionalism. Thank you!!!
While the staff were helpful at the time of booking, they and the business should take some responsibility if a 3rd party tour, booked through them, falls short of expectation. For example, if a tour duration is not as long as advertised and doesnt clearly state the amount of travelling time and possible detours involved due to others in the tour group. DBT should take action to correct their information in brochures and on their website.
Did the Johnston Canyonicewalk- really fun and gorgeous frozen waterfalls and pools. Some effort but nothing strenuous. Would highly recommend for a half-day trip when in Banff
I did the nighttime wildlife tour. Unfortunately, it was rainy and foggy. We did see a few elk. I enjoyed the tour despite the weather. Our guide was knowledgable, and I enjoyed learning about Banff's wildlife and preservation efforts.
Be very careful booking with those guys. For us, it turned into a nightmare. We booked the evening wildlife safari tour and waited for the bus at the parking lot which never showed up. After waiting for 15 minutes at the parking, we went to the office to get a refund or get a free booking for a new tour. The girls at the counter pretended that they called us the day before to say the tour would leave 15 minutes earlier. In the end we have lost 350 dollars. We were really badly treated. The people at discover Banff didn’t move a finger to help us whereas it was mentioned on the email they sent us another pick up time. We had a wonderful in Canada and this was the only disappointed experience but man it was a really really bad experience. One recommendation : book with someone else !!!!
Matt, our guide was fantastic. Unbelievable winter scenery and Matt was very educational
Saw 3 Grizzlies on evening tour. Very happy.
Andy was fabulous on our glacier tour. Everything ran smoothly even when the designated morning tea stop was closed due to weather. Great day and highly recommended.
We booked the evening safari and had a similar experience to Sarah Smith. Driving at speed past forests asking passengers to keep their eyes open for wildlife and ending up seeing a single Elk over the course of 2 hours does not live up to the expectation set by the name of the tour "Evening Wildlife Safari" and the misleading statement on the company website which states that "We see wildlife on 95% of our tours". The guide was pleasant and humorous and was clearly attempting to compensate for his knowledge that we were very unlikely to see wildlife. It is basically a sightseeing tour of scenic spots in Banff (and not the most scenic ones in the area by far) with some information about wildlife shared by the guide and his collection of animal pictures. It's not the guide's fault, I believe he was trying his best. Rather I believe the people in charge of the company should cancel this tour or at the very least rename it to something like "evening drive around Banff with possible wildlife spotting". Very disappointing and a big waste of a lot of money
We loved our trip and the guide was very professional and told interesting stories.
Did the Johnston Canyon icewalk tour. Anick was great. Would definitely recommend.
these guys are amazing, they have everything ready, explain every details, they are concerned about your safety and your enjoyment; they make sure you see every nice spots for pictures. As a first timer I really enjoyed the time with them. Totally recommend it.
Our guide, Linda, was informative about all things Banff. We saw deer, longhorn sheep and a large herd of elk including a bull!! Thank you!
I was in Banff for a limited time so I booked the morning tour that also has the gondola. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. Our guide was great! Super friendly and very knowledgeable. We saw a lot in a short time and we had a treat too! Highly recommend this tour!
Everything went great although the autogenersted confirmation email contained errors so I had to confirm myself through calling.
I had so much fun on the wildlife tour in August 2021. Heidi was very friendly, she made funny jokes, she was charismatic and was also very informative about all the wildlife and their locations. We seen so many different animals on the tour. It was worth the price. I 100% reccomend this tour to anyone. Thank you again!!????????????????????
I went on the haunted walking tour of Banff, and it was unreal…such a fun way to learn about a little bit of Banff’s history. Our tour guide, Maxine, was so animated, fun, and culturally sensitive. 10/10 would recommend.
Highly recommend for groups Our guides were Neill and Scott and their passion for the biodiversity, history of the region and dedication to our experience was quite moving. This was clearly more than a job to them and it made our evening so much more meaningful. We were 20 people from a conference at the Banff Centre and they had a great professional transport (not a school bus). It was -20 when we went out and they had extra warmers and were great at setting a manageable pace (I am not a hiker and wasn’t up for a strenuous walk). The second best part was the hot chocolate and cookies in the super cold. The best part was their guidance to stop, turn off our lights and just enjoy the dark and the stars, so glad we went in the evening. Nice touch with the great headlamps they provide - I wasn’t down with the price when we booked but after I strongly feel this is high value. They were so professional and thought of everything. If you’re in town or if you’re booking a group in Banff - book a tour with Discover Banff!
I went on 2 different tours with Discover Banff Tours- snowshoeing and Lake Louise. Both guide's were friendly, funny, and extremely knowledgeable! I highly recommend these tours to anyone who would like a break from skiing or those who do not ski to experience other parts of Banff National Park. 2 thumbs up!! If I had more thumbs, I would give them more ????
This rating is for a guided hike on Castle cliffs, Castle lookout with guide Aaron. We had 2 couples that were part of a 9 person group that Aaron lead up to the lookout. The hike was very strenuous, but Aaron made it enjoyable, and the views at the lookout were awesome! The entire hike took 7 hrs including the short bus commute up to the trailhead. Aaron was very friendly, knowledgeable, and kept the group together . he related eel to all in out group . Making it to the top was incredible and now looking at the mountain from the road even more incredible . This is definitely not a walk for the faint of heart . However I am very glad I did it .
(Translated) A very friendly travel agency, where you can book a day tour for all the experiences and courses you can enjoy in the Rocky. Across the street is a famous chocolate shop and a Korean restaurant (Seoulok).
My first time on a snowmobile and White N Wild did a fantastic job making sure everyone felt comfortable and going the speed they wanted to. Being a beginning driver, I was happy to be last and enjoy the views at my own pace. Lunch was prepared by the time we got back and the. Hit the hills again before we headed back to the cabin. Highly recommend if visiting the area. I’ll be back next year!
We signed up for an evening safari beginning at 7:30 pm and we were really looking forward to it. However, once we got on the bus and began the safari, we soon realized that our tour guide didn't really seem to think we were going to see any animals. She showed us Elk.. but that was it. Lots of time was spent driving on the highway and we thought.. "how are we going to see anything driving at this speed on the highway?" ..The safari turned into a 2.5 bus ride where no animals were seen. We saw a couple nice lookout spots. We felt this was fine. However for the money we spent we didn't feel like it was fair. We signed up for a safari, not for a drive around where the tour guide just passed pictures of animals around on the bus. Eventually the tour guide just kept letting people out at scenic spots for pictures and the mosquitos filled the bus. My boyfriend and I just wanted to go home and get off that bus. The tour guide was a very nice lady. We just felt that we signed up for a safari and that was not what we got. We would not do this again, nor would we recommend this to other guests. Every other time we used Discover Banff Tours everything was great. We have no complaints about the company. Only the specific "safari" excursion.
very friendly and helpful
nice tour around Banff, Denise was such an awesome guide!!!
We did 3 signature hikes (Vista Lake, marble canyon and Painted Pots with Jeff from France; Morainne Lake & Larch Valley with Jo from Canada; and Lake Louise and Plain of Six Glaciers with Thibeault from France) and all were unique and well done. Jo was particularly fabulous and taught us so much about hiking safety and technique. The hikes as listed above were each increasingly more difficult. One thing I'd recommend is advertising that you don't get back to hotel until 4pm-ish as I thought these were half day trips not full day. Also, on one day our gluten free chicken salad lunches were missing chicken and had muffins in them. Also would have liked water available on the first hike as we went through our two litirs and were very parched. Both other days there was plenty of water on the bus. Thanks for making our trip special!
Went on an evening walk of Johnston canyon with Heidi, and it was AWESOME!! She is so knowledgeable and hilarious!! It was a great time! It is hard to get good pictures but lots of awesome memories! Thank you!
Caroline was vey professional and knowledgeable! I would do this again .
To clarify, we booked our visit to the Yamnuska sanctuary through Discover, however we want to highlight the wonderful experience and professionalism of the staff at Yamnuska. Having run a tour business of my own, I'm very aware of the importance of a first impression when guests arrive at your business. From the moment we walked into the gift shop/registration desk, I felt like I was in good hands, and that this was a very well run organization. I was greeted very warmly by the staff and their resident Malamute, Skookum, who's a gentle giant. Our tour guide was Kara, who was very knowledgeable, and patiently answered all of our questions about the sanctuary and about the wolf pack. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this experience to our friends and family, and are grateful that place like this exist, as wolves still have an upward battle to win over much of the general public's perception of themselves.
My experience was really good! I was a solo travel the first tour was lake and mountain. The tour guide was really kind and suggest sitting with another solo traveler so that was really helpful as I enjoy more the day with a new partner. About my second tour discovery Columbia Icefield was the best out driver and tour guide was Pamela, she was really helpful as I was solo travel she take care a lot of me and as we are a very small group like 20. I was feeling very good be part of the rest of the couples and family. Also Pamela give us during the trip so much information that it was really good. About the tour was very really organized and puntual. If I back again I will booked again with this tour.
We had a wonderful experience. Our tour guide, Scott, was knowledgeable, friendly, and kept the entire group engaged through the walk. And of course the canyon is spectacular. If there is one thing I would do different, it would be to take the tour early morning, or mid-week, or better still, both. When we went it was very crowded.
We had a great time on the evening wildlife tour! It was very easy to book online. The bus was very comfortable and our guide Jeff was really great. Super knowledgeable, so we learnt a lot about the history of the park, as well as all the wildlife and all the scientific research and care taken to preserve it. We actually saw a few animals during the tour so that was really great. The only complaint I may possibly have is that the bus has tinted windows, and since the tour is in the evening with the goal of seeing wildlife, it is kind of hard to see and really not ideal for taking pictures. Also, there was a family with a small baby that kept crying, to the point that the guide could not even speak (we were in the front row and could not hear him speak, and the baby was in the back) so please, do NOT bring young children as it can really ruin the experiece for other people.
Way too rushed tours
Very professional! Totally reliable! Had Matt and Heidi as our guides. Great people, outgoing and friendly. Felt like old friends reconnecting...
My friend and I did the Marble Canyon Snowshoe trip this week. We have both lived in Calgary forever but found it fun to be tourists in our own backyard. Becky, our guide, was phenomenal. She was friendly and prepared, and made us all feel incredibly welcome. She knew Canadian history and the area well- sharing names of mountains, geography, and interesting facts. The trip was well paced and good for all levels. She and her 2 helpers were always available for assistance or questions. Becky even boiled up maple syrup on a propane stove so we could make gooey maple popsicles in the snow. Becky also took the time to personally escort each of us out of the van at the drop points to say a personal goodbye. The little things matter! We highly recommend this company (and especially BECKY). We got the tickets on groupon which made us feel like we stole the day. Views, snow and weather were also exceptional. Thank you for making it a memorable Valentines Day.
We did two tours, Lake Louise and Johnston Canyon and throughly enjoyed both. We had Matt and Ed, both were fantastic guides and we got along with them really well. Awesome sense of humour while also shooting facts and history at us that were simply astonishing and extremely interesting. Highly recommend!
This company took our money and is a disgrace of hospitality and Canadian tourism. We pre-paid for a cowboy cookout for 12 people for 5pm on a Monday evening. We showed up at 4:50 and got to the front desk at 4:55. The employee at the front desk told us we should have been there at 4:45 to sign a waiver and be weighed and because we were ten minutes late they couldn't do anything for us. We weren't able to ride. We weren't able to eat the dinner we planned. They laughed at us as we asked to be allowed to ride later in the day or on the carriage or even to just drive to the BBQ dinner. We were really looking forward to this activity and were very disappointed that this happened at the end of our trip. We spoke to the manager Stacy, on the phone and she refused to reimburse us the $1800 that was spent of the activity. We received no food, no horse ride, nothing and yet they kept our money. DO NOT go here, they don't deserve your service.
Took the shuttle from Canmore to Calgary airport and the service was great! The shuttle was on time and the route was beautiful :)
Hello Everyone, There was a very disappointing experience with this group of business. We booked horse riding here and paid around $291. We were 10 min late to this place as were heading from Ontario to Alberta and guess what, they told to us that you are 10 min late so you have to pay 50% more if you want to do horse riding for next slot. now firstly , we did not receive any confirmation mail during booking. We called them and they said your booking has been confirmed. So we were like ok that’s good and on the day of arriving, they were saying we have sent you an email. And we explained that we already called you about not receiving an email and you confirmed our booking on phone call. Manager was so rude and she was blaming us. We provide logical argue as for example if some one get caught in traffic then you guys still not allow them for what they paid. We booked different time slot for different activities in Banff and there was a 10 min up and down for registration and no one had a problem. We are living in Canada where honesty is important and service is everything. This people literally running a money heist business. Don’t book any activity here.
This company organised a wonderful tour of Banff and area.
The most disapointed experience ever in Canada ! The bus driver forgot to catch us at the departure place ... and impossible to refund. Unfortunatly no bears viewing for us during our trip.
I did a few of their tours. - Evening Wildlife Safari. -Lake Louise/ Moraine Lake I don't remember my tour guide name, but I was lucky enough to get on both of my tours. She is so sweet , she was bummed out that the day of the Lake Louise/ Moraine Lake . Park Canada decide to close Moraine Lake for the season. Obviously I was disappointed I didn't get to see Moraine Lake .
Helpful and clear communication. They set up two tours for us (wolfdog sanctuary and sled dog) and both were fantastic!
Had a wonderful ice canyon walk guided by Matt. What he doesn't know about the region is probably not worth knowing. His up beat narrative made it both informative as well as fun. Learnt something new about the forest and ice walls as well. We enjoyed it the both of us. Walking tempo was good for the slow to keep up by several short stops. Thanks to Jarod at their office we were swiftly re-booked to the afternoon group as the early walk was cancelled due to low temperatures. Highly recommended.
Very helpful tour company, i enjoyed their help/coop in every matter
We took two tours with DBT. The first tour was the 30 mins heli tour. It was very scenic but the pilot wasn't very informative. This tour is 3 stars. We took the evening safari tour lead by Ed. He is very knowledgable. We saw 6 different types of iconic wildlife. Even though we didn't see any bear or beaver, Ed educated us on why it's a good thing if we didn't see them. It was worth it! Just enjoying the scenery and local stories. He gets five stars. The staffs at the store/booking are very professional. To Rose (tour guide managers), my only feedback with the tour is to ask every passenger (especially smoker) to take home all their rubbish at the start of the trip. I saw one man drop four ciggy buds in 2 hour.
Companies website has wrong time for fall horse back rides and company refuses to give a refund because the manager is in Europe. So the company is happy to take your money but they can't (refuse?) To take care of any problems (that they caused in the first place). See screen shot of their website. One might think the tour departs at 5pm. But you'd be wrong, it's 4pm! Don't blame your issues on your customers and don't take money if no one is around who can refund it.
While visiting Banff, we hiked Johnston Canyon and it was fantastic! Our guide, Neil, was phenomenal with so much knowledge. Don’t hesitate and book this tour, you will not regret it!
Hiked Larch Valley with Ronnie. She's absolutely phenomenal. Best guide I've ever had.
Amazing tour guiders within the company i have ever experienced. We had our first tour with Tyler for two famous lakes for about a half day tour. We liked the tour with them and got the second full day tour with the same company again and this time Ronnie took us to all those beautiful places. This company has the best tour guides I guarantee if you visit Banff.

Amazing tour! We went on the Johnston Canyon Icewalk and it was incredible! I really enjoyed the company of our two tour guides Heidi and Alyssa, they were friendly, gave us alot of tidbits throughout our tour, made alot of jokes and they were very supportive in making sure everyone got a chance to take pictures, catch their breath and everything worked out. Also big shout-out for Alyssa for carrying that hot chocolate and Cookies for us, that was a great treat after a long hike! Would highly recommend.
They have good tours all throughout banff, and refunded us when we were charged for a mistaken ticket. They had very kind service.
I loved my tour! The tour guide was awesome. I have a bad memory but I think his name was Rob or something similar. He was super nice and I loved the information he gave about the area as we drove around. So much fun!
Great experience! They give out a lot of information about their animals, so you learn more about their behavior and likes. I liked the fact that animals weren't forced to get closer to visitors and interact, but instead, were free to decide if they wanted or not. It is very obvious they care for the dogs in here! A must-go when in Alberta!
Booked snowmobiling for Kicking Horse, paid cash and got a discount (winning). Staff were friendly and helpful and have plenty of recommendations.
The worst experience ever!!!! They just ruined my husbands birthday surprise!!!! Back in September I bought a ticket for my husbands 35th birthday so he can enjoy the helicopter ride, at that time it was not required to have any proof of vaccination . I understand that Alberta government has put some restrictions. I’ve tried to schedule the flight for the first time and it didn’t let me because we didn’t have the vaccine , ok so now my husband finally got the shot and I’m trying to schedule the flight for the second time and again I’m having the hiccups because you’ve changed the rules again. So now I need to buy 2 tickets in order to have the flight, which is not acceptable at all! I’m not going to buy a second ticket just because! My question is why are you asking the proof of vaccination if only members of one family are welcome to the flight? I want my money back and don’t care that they are non-refundable as you didn’t follow your own rules and keep changing them. I’m not even saying that an actual flight I was interested in now costs much more. I’m not happy and hope you can resolve that issue otherwise I’m not gonna leave like that. My husbands surprise that he’ve been supposed to remember for years turned out in a nightmare! Just return my money back, I don’t need any other service rather than the helicopter flight . More than that the reception lady just hang up on me when I was trying to explain my situation. Awful customer service.
It happened to be a great day for the 4 hour ice tour. The tour guide, Matt, was pleasant and knowledgeable throughout the Johnston Canyon tour as well as the travel time in between pick up and drop off. It is definitely achievable by all ages and activity levels. We had many moments to rest and the sights were great. I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to others.
Took three tours with Discover Banff for my honeymoon. It was absolutely magical! Anick was a great guide for the Johnston Canyon Icewalk.
Took the night walk of Johnston canyon. Rob was our guide and was great. Highly recommend!
They were an ok tour operator, website could use some work though. It wouldn't let me book the day of, but when I called there was plenty of room.
A great day trip to ice fields that we had with the discover team and Andrew. The trip was very professionally organized, right on the clock, and super fun. Andrew was friendly all the way and the meals were very nice during the trip. Would recommend without a doubt!!
I booked a guided snowshoeing tour as well as the Johnston Canyon Ice Walk for myself and my mom and it was a wonderful experience! Not only did our guides (Rob and Erin) have a ton of knowledge about the history of the park and the wildlife; they were very patient and encouraging with my mom who is not the fastest hiker! Definitely two great activities if you're traveling to Banff in the winter :) 10/10 would recommend!!!
Took the $99 ski shuttle from Banff to Kicking Horse and couldn't believe what a great deal it was. Normal day price for a lift ticket at KH is $115, so how Banff Tours offers a round trip shuttle AND an all day lift ticket for $99 is beyon me, but I'm not complaining.
Discover banff has best knowledgeable guides who are responsible drivers too and very comfortable transport.I enjoyed my trip with them.the staff at banff office showed excellent customer service and arranged tour to takakkahaw fall.strongly recommended.
Matt was an excellent tour guide who is easy to hear and has a vast amount of knowledge. Very informative tour that shows highlight areas around the town of Banff and teaches you the history. Hopefully you will be lucky enough to see Elk!
We took the Banff wildlife and Gondola tour. Andrew was our Tour guide. We thoroughly enjoyed Andrew's knowledge of the wildlife, and the history about Banff. It was a pleasure talking with him. We will recommend Discover Banff tours. Thank so much Mark and Diann Lackie
Always a good experience and friendly informative staff!
Tour: Columbia Icefield. We (5 family members) had a whole day tour from Banff to Columbia Icefield. Our driver & guide on the way up & down was 'Chris'. He was the best guide I've ever met with, knowledgeable & reasonably entertaining. The driver who drove the 'ice explorer' in the Icefield was amazing. I don't remember his name but he was French. His sense of humour was astonishing. In general, the tour was a bit hectic but I guess this is how all of this kind of tours are. This will remain as one of my most memorable tours. Highly recommended. Thanks.
Had a great time! Maybe not entirely cheap, but it's definitely the best way to visit Banff and surroundings without a car. The guide Nicole was knowledgeable and experienced. Totally worth it!
We did the Via Ferrata Explorer and had a blast. The guide was great and very accommodating allowing us time for many photo ops. The climbing stages were actually tougher than expected but doable for our party age range of 16 to 60. The first half is the climbing to the top, and second half is mostly the walk back down. Very safe with double carabineers and cables, but pay attention, you can still lose focus and potentially injure yourself. (Rocks are hard.) All in all, our families highlight of our trip to Canada.
Super tour well guided to Lake Louise and Lake Moraine. Only quibble. Minibus had darkened windows. These are the worst for viewing.
(Translated) Good tour to Johnston Canyon, the guide was very friendly. Recommended (Original) Buen tour a Johnston canyon, el guía fue muy amable. Recomendado
Really loved the icewalk tour of Johnston Canyon. Neil was our tour guide and he was amazing. Definitely recommend!
Our tour guide was Jordan, and as soon as the tour began, his energy was exceedingly upbeat. He had stories, history, and scientific facts galore, and made the experience very memorable. Make sure to save your bottles for recycling though, and ask him to take pics for you because he's a pro
We used Discover Banff Tours for a 9 hour Icefields Tour. From the moment we met our guide Emma we knew it was going to be a fun day. She was fun, witty, had great stories about the area and was a good driver. She was available to take photos of us at just the right moments too! The tour took us to 3 lakes and some great viewing points and up to the Athabasca Glacier which was really cool. Peyto Lake was breath taking and our favorite stop. Lunch was great by the Saskatchewan River and we had enough food that lasted all afternoon. My biggest concern prior to the trip was our transportation. I have a bad back and neck. The small bus we rode in was so comfortable with thick cushy seats that were amazing! Best seats I have ever sat in. Booking was a snap and the staff are helpful and friendly. We were picked up on time at our hotel and everything was highly satisfactory. Emma was our tour guide and driver for the entire trip and her enthusiasm never waned. Worth every penny. They were half the cost of a competitor. So glad we discovered them!
Booked a 3hrs horseback riding around Sulfur Mountains and spray river. The staff was very kind and friendly however the ride itself wasn’t worth the money: The trail was pretty much the same from the beginning till the end (one hour would have been enough). A 3 hrs ride is not suitable for people who don’t ride an horse everyday, therefore , making one or two stops and have a chance to drink some water, stretched out your legs, or just having the opportunity to take a picture without bouncing from the back of the horses would have been a great idea. Hopefully these suggestions would be helpful to improve both your service and next customers’ experience.
We did the afternoon ice walk with Neil...it was really beautiful and a lot of fun...Neil humor and knowledge definitely helped passing the time... would definitely recommend especially if Neil is the guide.
worth visiting
We really enjoy our tour with Nicole. Thank you!
Tyler was a fantastic guide! Fun and informative tour.
We attended a 4 hours Via Ferrata mountain climbing tour which is exciting and spectacular. The actual time we spent on mountain climbing and hiking was around 3 hours which was not as tired as we thought. With the equipment they provide, we were definitely safe. It will be a memorable experience for everyone.
My family did the Paint Pot snow shoeing tour in Kootenay National Park and had Rob as our guide. Rob was absolutely amazing! He made the tour very interesting educational as soon as he picked us up from the hotel. The road conditions were challenging yet he was still able to share various facts about the mountain ranges and trees as we drove past them. Once we were snowshoeing, he was great at making sure the group was safe and comfortable, while again adding more information about the area and other activities. Rob went over the top at the end of our tour as we had a cell phone go missing during the tour. Without skipping a beat he took a couple of us to go back into the forest to search for the phone. We did eventually find it (which was very lucky) and he was definitely a huge reason we were able to find it so quickly. Thank you Rob for the amazing tour!!
My husband and I with another couple took a Johnston Canyon ice walk tour. Our guide was Matt. He was amazing! So much knowledge about the canyon, trees, and local wildlife. It is also a beautiful walk. A must do in Banff. I recommend requesting Matt as your guide!
(Translated) We did the Icewalk in Canyon Johnson it was really great! And our guide Neil was able to explain a lot to us about the canyon but also about the rocky areas in general. The must: hot chocolate and maple cookie at the end!
Last week we went on the Ghost Walk Tour in Banff. It was 100% worth every dollar we spent. The host/guide was amazing. So knowledgeable, really passionate about sharing the stories and really authentic in terms of her approach on the subject. She was engaging and professional and really fun too. My 9 year old niece is a huge ghost story fan and she loved it!! We got to learn some great history, see Banff from a new perspective, and hear spooky stories. I would highly recommend this activity in Banff for anyone.
Paid for a tour - driver never came. We were at the meeting point waiting for the bus and never saw him : he left 10 minutes before the tour starting time. Sales representative at the agency were not even trying to help us, as we had paid in advance so there was nothing in it for them to help us.
Had a great time! We did the Johnston Lake Hike and the Snow Shoeing Tour. We have never been to Banff and it was amazing. The tour was super fun, we met people from all over the world and had a chance to play in the snow, i would do these tours again! Thanks for a great time.
Lovely day tour with a nice group of people and wonderful guide. We really were glad we did the tour.
I had a great time with Discover Banff Tours. The guide ( Matt) was fantastic who took myself and 4 other people snowshoeing to the Paint Pots. He was very professional and friendly ! Oh and the maple Taffy was super delicious ! We also got to go on the 'magic carpet', which was one of the highlights of the tour!
Jeff was awesome, lots of knowledge on the wildlife and the city itself. Knew where to look to find certain animals, we got to see two brown bears fight to protect Cubs it was awesome! Would recommend
Only way we could get into moraine lake. Great guide
We enjoyed the lake cruise and Gondola. Beautiful and fun experiences. The tour guide and captain of the cruise were informative and funny. Definitely coming back when anyone visits wants to go. Bundles make the experiences more affordable
Had a fantastic time and saw some amazing wildlife while experiencing a different side to Banff. Mark and Pam were amazing hosts and I'd strongly recommend this company.
Do you know why you shouldn't wait six months to write a review? Because you forget small details like....your guide's name! He was a tall, skinny, dude with dark hair and goatee, and was one of the best guides we've had in our travels. Very informative, personable, and fun, pointing out the small details and sharing bits of his life with the group that made this trek seem more like a group of visiting friends on an outing than a formal tour! The hike itself was amazing. The weather was quite warm when we went, hovering right about -1/30 degrees, which meant we were all sweating quite a bit by the end! Still, the pace was pretty mild with lots of stops for photo ops and stories. The Falls are so, so, worth it. I can absolutely see why this is such a popular tour!
We did the Bow River 1 hour horseback ride in September and absolutely loved it. Our guides were friendly and chatty. The horses were adorable and very well trained. The ride started and finished on time and the views and ride itself was lovely. We also did the 4 hour via ferrata climb which was amazing! Again, great funny guide, good accurately described climb and well organised. The booking process was easy. At one point, we were told there may not be hiking boots available but we popped in to the Discover Banff Tours office in downtown Banff and the guy behind the counter rang the via ferrata centre for us to ensure we could rent boots (as reserved them for us) as we hadn’t brought our own. Great value for money - we would definitely recommend both!
We did the Johnson Canyon walk and had a great time. We were able to learn so much more about the area, environment, and wildlife during our tour. Gina did a great job.
Took a wildlife tour here a few years ago and it was great!
My friend and I had a tour at Johnston Canyon on the 13th of November with Gina. She was very informative and had a great personality which made the tour so much more enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this tour with her! Was a great way to end our trip at Banff!!
Jeff was amazing! We loved his stories and his spirit. He guided us into the snow and was a safe driver as well. Please tip him well, I promise he’s worth it!
Becky was a great tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and very personable. Our group was fairly large (12) and she remembered everyone's name. I would definately recommend doing the Johnston canyon tour!!
Shout out to our tour guide Jeff! He's awesome!
We went to Johnston Canyon to do the ice canyon hike. It was really awesome. Beautiful sights. Also, Gina our guide was great. I’ve never had a more happy or more informative tour guide. She provided so much detailed and interesting facts on the way there and also at the canyon. We had a great experience. Thank you so much, Gina!
Amazing tour with really knowledgeable passionate guides, my friend and i both went with different guides and they were both great! If you want to learn alot about Banff and some random facts they are great not to mention great sights!!
Just did the ice walk with Hugh as our guide. He was wonderful and super helpful with giving info and thoroughly answering any questions, great resource. The view was amazing and the canyon was so pretty. Dress warm!!!
Very fun and amazing experience. Jeff was a great tour guide. Highly recommend if you want to really see all the hotspots in Banff.
We had booked the Johnston Canyon Ice Walk and it was an awesome experience with our amazing guide “Neil” who was very knowledgeable and made the experience a memorable one. The walk through the snow clad walkways was superb. Thank you Discover Banff Tours for this experience.
It was the best trip of my life! Me and my siblings went for Ice tubing and it was an amazing experience. Would definitely recommend it :D
Great days out. So well organised and knowledgeable staff. Everything was perfect
Discover Banff Tours did a magnificent job. My husband and I did the Lake Louise and Moraine Lake tour and enjoyed the experience. Our tour guide (Neil) was kind, patient and knew a lot about the Banff area. Booking with Discover Banff Tours was smooth and usually I find tours are not the best with time management, but Discover Banff Tours remained punctual throughout, I highly recommend!
Me and my Fiancé did a group tour on Monday 2.22 and loved it! It was great experience, nice physical activity and also beautiful views. Our guide, I believe his name was Rob was very professionally nice. Definitely would like to try other tours/hikes.
Not respecting the service sold. We paid and didnt get the tour, losing 335 euros. Putting the fault on external provider and not helping us to get refund. Customer service is 0.
Took a school group here and it was great! We appreciated the fire that was going as well. All of the Staff were friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. In future I will create a "scavenger hunt" based on the information signs posted around the sanctuary to give my students something specific to look for as they tended to wander past the enclosures without actually reading the information, which caused them to be "finished" their self-guided tour rather quickly. All in all a good experience and I would love to return.
Excellent tour, beautiful lakes and places, curiosities and facts about history as well. Matt was a great guide! Had a great time and highly reccommend this tour, specially on the girst days in town.
We were fortunate enough to have Denise as our guide. Denise has first class information about all aspects of the Banff area and kept us interested with her amusing and informative anecdotes. If you get Denise as your driver and guide you will have a delightful tour of this beautiful area.
Via ferrata tour was amazing, worth every penny!
It was an awesome tour!!! So blessed we had a very beautiful and sunny day! Our tourist guide was Matt in Discover Banff and it’s wildlife. Few of us in this tour were alone and the rest our couples and in groups, I definitely recommend the tour for those who loves travelling alone! Matt is very helpful, thoughtful, informative and knowledgeable! Plus handsome (LOL ???? as per request) but he is ????. Thank you Matt, it was great to know someone who celebrates the same birthday and for the maple cookies! For the afternoon tour, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. We’ve got sunny and rainy weather but the tour still went well! As for me to see this beautiful place in both such weather was great and if you are a nature lover you would appreciate it as well. Our tourist guide “Norm” was superb! very informative too, knowledgeable and he was prepared for the weather! I was hoping to see the bears but unfortunately we didn’t but still love the scenery! I’m in awe in God’s Creations! The only thing was that i felt sorry for myself (From Calgary Airport straight to Banff tours) because I was so tired and tried to get some power nap during when we were inside the bus going to our next destination and I missed some great infos about Banff! And yes! You can take a nap just like me if you want ????. I was very happy with both tours! Highly recommend Discover Banff Tours God bless you all! ????
Tour guide Jeff gave us a great tour! We had a private tour with six people and he entertained us with information, stories and views. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who wants to see the highlights of Banff National Park
I purchased 3 tours with Discover Banff Tours; the snowmobile tour, the Johnston canyon ice walk tour and the lake Louise/dog sledding tour. I cannot say enough about this company. All 3 tours were amazing! They were always on time picking us up from the hotel. The guides at each of the tours were very professional and friendl and always offering to take our puctures! I would definitely book with this company again and highly recommend them.
Such a great experience. First time snowshoeing and I had no clue being from Texas what I was doing. Norm was a great guide! He was informative and had a good mix of instruction and letting us be free to explore with our snow shows. The maple taffy and hot chocolate along the way were neat and had an overall great experience!
Neil V. was a great commentator - keeping the flow. Though seeing the Elk harem during our last few minutes really boosted the enjoyment of the trip (we did see horned sheep earlier). He knows his stuff and and kept it moving.
Did the evening hike at Johnston canyon with our amazing tour guide Jeff. Very knowledgeable and the hike at night was a different perspective
A great day trip to Panarama from Banff on Banff Tours, I highly recommend it! Beka was a great driver and host.
We had a group of 3 and took two hiking tours with Discover Banff Tours. Our first tour was the snowshoeing tour over Marble Canyon with Jeff. We had such a great time! Jeff was knowledgeable and we loved learning about indigenous history and about the variety of wild life in the park. The canyon was absolutely beautiful and such a magical snowy experience. The hot chocolate was great and we also enjoyed the maple taffy. Would definitely recommend this tour or any tour with Jeff! Our second tour was the Grotto Canyon Ice Walk with Andrew. This was such a unique experience getting to walk on the ice bed at the bottom of the canyon (thankful for the ice cleats provided by the tour company)! Andrew had really interesting information to share along the tour and did a fantastic job. We enjoyed learning about the origin of the paintings on the canyon wall and seeing the frozen waterfall at the end of the canyon. Andrew was great and we would also recommend any tour with him. Both hikes were reasonably paced with lots of rest points along the way. And of course, the scenery of the Canadian Rockies was breathtaking. Our group loved both experiences and will definitely book more tours when we are back in the area. Thank you Discover Banff Tours!
Definitely one of the best experiences I have had. Hugh, Aaron, and Anick were great guides. They all had unique personalities that made them either really funny or great people to start a conversation. Without their help, I would have been either slipping and sliding down the mountain or been missing out on the interesting facts they provided along the tour. I booked the Johnston Canyon Ice Walk, Snowshoeing and Dog Sledding/ Lake Louise respectfully. The gear they provided was definitely a plus because I was not aware of the importance of it until I saw it in action. Every moment I was there was well worth soaking their knowledge. I don't usually experience there types of activities back home in Los Angeles so having someone to guide us along made all the difference. The highlight of the Johnston Canyon Ice Walk was seeing all the ice hanging from the rock walls due to water seeping out from them. It gave them a nice blue tint because of how dense it is. Hugh was making sure the entire group was safe because there were parts where ice developed along the trail. You could tell our group felt safe having him around. Snowshoeing provided the cardio I needed for skipping the gym and eating too much the 5 days I was in Banff. The views were beautiful, especial since it was snowing the time I was there. It felt like pillow stuffing coming down from the clouds. Aaron made some Maple Taffy half way through our tour. It was my first time rolling one up in the snow and after eating it, I was impressed how good it came out since it was my first time trying it. I will definitely need to try it in my fridge with a block of ice since I stocked up on maple syrup become coming back. Lastly the Dog Sledding/Lake Louise was another unforgettable experience I will never forget. Anick was on time at our hotel. She is really a good conversation starter and had a lot to say about the surrounding environment. She even stopped for us to see the wildlife which was really generous of her. Once we got to the dogsledding location, we had time to spend some time with the animals. They really enjoy people scratching behind their ears. Once we got in the sled and left, you can hear nothing but peace and quiet. I recommend layering up because the cold air gets to you when you are not actively moving. Once we were done, Anick took the time to show us around the Fairview hotel and the activities they had going. Overall, it was a great experience booking there tours with Discover Banff Tours. I would definitely book again. I would like to give a heads up to other people planning to book. Please be outside your hotel at the time they provide in your email. They have a schedule to pick everyone up at the time they provided and if one person is running late then it is not fair for everyone else who are on time. They want everyone to enjoy the activities with the given time allowed. Other than that, you will have many memories to tell your friends back home.
We were at Johnston Canyon 3 years ago without a guide, but this time when we came and we ordered this tour, especially with Anick was absolutely incredible. The amount of things that we learnt on the drive to the Canyon and during the hike at the Canyon was very intriguing and we learnt a ton about the rockies and Johnston Canyon, which we were very thankful for. Anick was exceptionally knowledgeable and knew the response to any question we had, and pointed out things that our regular senses would not realize alone. Highly recommended this extremely popular National Park to anyone in the surroundings as the beauty we saw was unbelievable as well as a once in a lifetime experience for us, and all who will visit there as well for sure.
It was my first visit to Banff and a great experience using the service. Jeff, our tour guide is absolutely awesome, knowledgeable, helpful, courteous and takes amazing photos too. Thanks Jeff.
Great local company who offer informed tours. Our tour guide Neil was fantastic and knowledgeable. We highly recommend the Johnsons Canyon Tour.
Staff here is very helpful and so cheerful. They gave wonderful recommendations of things to do in Banff. We rented the ice cleats from here. The cleats are noisy, but that can serve as a bear repellant.
Excellent tour, fun way of learning about the area. 3 hours flew by.
We did the wildlife tour and Gondola ride. The booking process is slow online and poorly designed to use on phones, I have messaged the company about this. The trip leader and driver were very professional and knowledgeable. Inevitably in a national park you take your chances with seeing wildlife and we saw very little, but I would rather this than going chasing after animals in their own habitat. We were given a detailed talk by the leader about the park to keep us occupied as we travelled through the beautiful rockies. We enjoyed the Gondola trip as well and were picked up as arranged. If you book both trips together as we did, just note that you get taken back to Banff town after the morning tour to drop off guests not going to the Gondola before setting off again so they are essentially two separate trips, so check if it's worth you booking both together. I felt a little rushed with the Gondola, due to our arranged pick up time. I would have liked at least another half hour, or maybe an hour. We had a lovely meal at the top of the mountain and enjoyed the spectacular views. It was very cold so we didn't spend long outside, so on a warmer day I would think you would feel very rushed with the time we had unless you choose not to have a meal (Food's very good!) Overall though very enjoyable.
Hugh was wonderful =) a little expensive but a wonderful time!
Matt, our tour guide, gave us great advice and historic explanations about Banff. Its wild life, community and the weather as well. I would totally recommend this tour company!
Jeff and Andrew were amazing showing us around and the immense knowledge that they have is unbelievable. They took very good care of us. For sure any other tour we do will be with Discover Banff Tours!
Good guides and good tour. Worth it to avoid parking and driving.
Awesome hikes. Did the Stanley Glacier with Jeff and the Plain of Six Glaciers with Rob. Great guides, sharing a lot of information and knowledge. Kudos to both of you. The pace was good. Highly recommended.
We took a corporate retreat to Banff. We used this company to book multiple excursions for a group of 12 people across 3 days. We spent thousands and thousands of dollars. The last excursion we booked was a "Cowboy Cookout" which was to be a horse back ride to a BBQ. The excursion was an entire evening event. We prepaid $1,800 ($150 x 12 people). The event began at 5pm. We were supposed to be 15 minutes early. We checked in at 4:52 pm. We were told the cutoff was 4:45 and we were refused to go on the excursion. Remember this was a prepaid event. We literally watched another group saddle up on our horses and trot out of the stable. We were denied a horseback ride and the dinner we had pre paid $150 per person for. Rather than making any accommodations whatsoever Discover said they have a strict no refund policy and we could go pound sand. The next day when I spoke with "Stacy" the "Manager," she was unapologetic, rude, dismissive, and when I told her I would pursue getting my $1,800 back, she said "good luck with that." This company is all about money with no interest whatsoever for the customer. Because we were visiting for the States and leaving Banff, they were happy to steal $1,800 despite providing nothing in return.
Completed the hike to The Plain of 6 Glaciers with Discover Banff and the experience was absolutely fantastic! Do not hesitate to book this amazing hike/tour:)) The hike itself is stunning and the support from your guide is second to none! I would definitely book with Discover Banff again ❤️❤️❤️
Pete was excellent guide tour! We did wildlife everything tour with him. This is great way to explore Banff, highly recommended!
Pretty fun and informative. Bus drivers also accommodated us when half our family got picked up by a different bus and got us on the same one.
My family and I were excited about our helicopter tour (Alpine Helicopters) booked through Discover Banff Tours. We were booked for July 26, 2019 (Thursday) at 10:40 a.m. we received confirmation of our flight, but approximately 35 minutes prior to arrival we were notified that our flight was cancelled due to the wind. That was understandable. So, we rescheduled the following day at the same time. I called an hour prior to our arrival to confirm flight. I was informed to arrive 20 minutes prior to flight time. Just prior to leaving, I received another called that our second flight was cancelled and then was asked if I wanted to reschedule for the the following Monday or upgrade our current flight to tour that day. I respectfully declined and requested refund. We were extremely disappointed to say the least, but appalled that I would be asked to upgrade a flight that was previously prepaid. I felt as if the company didn’t want to honor the flight I initially paid for. The company should have better customer service and business practices.
I would highly recommend the Johnston Canyon night tour.Jeff our guide was very knowledgeable and personable. It is special to be able to see the lower falls and hike this area at night.
Terrible! Dont trust these guys because they give you no warning and charge you tons of money for being late. They are scammers and have awful service
(Translated) Did not show up at the agreed meeting point and there was no money returned (Original) Sind am vereinbarten Treffpunkt nicht erschienen und Geld gabs auch keines zurück
Went on the winter discover Banffs wildlife tour which was fantastic. Our guide, Nicola, was knowledge, enthusiastic and funny. I was picked up right on time and we stopped at some beautiful spots around Banff and admired the scenery on a lovely sunny day.
Rob was an awesome driver and tour guide. We learned a lot about the history, geography etc.
Andrew was an amazing guide for the Johnston Canyon hike. It was a snowy day and Andrew’s driving made us feel safe throughout the trip. He shared many stories of the canyon that added to the experience. I would highly recommend booking a hike with Andrew!
One of my favorite things I did in Banff.
We went on a wildlife tour guided by Chris Lewis. Despite not seeing much wildlife Chris did all he could to make the time informative and enjoyable. Chris interacted well with our group and drove very responsibly. We would definitely recommend them. Paul and Gillian Finlayson
Useless Waste of time & money both, never coming back to this again. Who the hell does safari in the dark & with tinted windows.. WTH..
Done two trips with the company. The first one was really fun with Cameron since he was really interactive and made funny jokes. The second one was excellent with Peter since he shared his wisdom of the area with everyone on the tours. Also the both gave us recommendations. 10/10 would go on the tours again. I suspect that all the tour guides and helpers.would be great. So I recommend going on the tours and asking questions since the tour guides have a lot of knowledge of the area. Also they keep eyes out to see wildlife so you can have a great experience. They also gave survival tips on how to deal with bears and what the bears do to defend themselves.
We had Norm and he was awesome! Great trip, definitely worth doing!
(Translated) The worst very bad company. If you have an office in Benf, of course you're going to book a Benf Bow River plotting. We reserve a floating plot without mentioning the name or place of Kenmore. Admit our fault. However, it seems that it is too obvious. It turns out that there are only 4 cases like this month. Never use it !!!!!!
We did a 3 hour “Discover Banff and it’s Wildlife” tour today with Matt. We have visited Banff before but Matt, through his knowledge, passion and great sense of humour, helped us appreciate it’s unique historical and ecological place in Canada’s history. Besides being gobsmacked by the extreme beauty of the place, we learnt a great deal. Thanks Matt, we loved it!
My group of 4 had a wonderful experience with the Discover Grizzly Bears tour and we would like to give a special shout out to our guide, Aaron. He was very helpful, energetic and fun. What a great way to spend the day! We mentioned to Aaron that we wanted to see wildlife and he made sure to point things out to us and even gave us recommendations for the remainder of our trip that really panned out in a big way. Thanks so much!!!
Booked the 1 hour horseback riding, hot springs & Gondola ride package online before our trip for my husband, son & I & it was wonderful. I would recommend it to everyone who is adventures!
Rob was a very knowledgeable and interactive guide. The tour was fun and informative. Loved the emphasis on the environment and Parks Canada's initiatives to preserve it
Friendly staff. Very knowledgeable Great service all round
These guys were amazing!!
(Translated) Never book a Banff float trips here I paid over $ 200 at the office in downtown Banff and booked and waited for a ride at bow falls.
Such a great experience!!! I highly recommend the interactive tour - feeding the wolf dogs treats is such a cool experience!! They are a non-profit organization so the money is used directly toward the animals, so it is MORE than worth it! :)
Took an evening Wildlife Safari trip. Our Guide, Jeff (he was French and that's the name he used) was excellent. Took us on a nice tour explaining about both the local wildlife and the local area.
Recently booked the Lake Louise and Moraine 4.5 hr tour and it was perfect! The online booking was user friendly, pick up and drop off at hotel was convenient and on time. Our driver and guide Neil was awesome. He was friendly, funny, knowledgeable and professional. The tour was great and I highly recommend booking with Discover Banff Tours!
Sam was the best!! He was fun, informative, and really made sure everyone had a great time. We saw a herd of elk, and two baby bear cubs. We stopped and were able to get some great pictures! Thumbs up to Sam!!
great experience booking with them!
Had a wonderful experience using Discover Banff tours! Our guide, Hugh, was on time, informative, and energetic. He took my entire family for a hike through Johnston’s Canyon and provided great detail throughout the trip. Any questions we may have had Hugh was quick to answer. I would highly suggest utilizing Discover Banff and Hugh for your tour needs. - Ryan
We used Discover Banff for transportation between Banff and Kicking Horse. What a deal this was! Transport and a lift ticket for $99. It was so nice to not have to worry about driving the roads after a full day of skiing, and just be able to hop on the bus and relax. We ran into some hiccups due to the road being closed for a bit for avalanche control and ran into some bad weather. Our driver Storm remained calm, and got us home safe. He was great! I would definitely recommend them.
We had Jeff as our tour guide for the Johnston Canyon Icewalk today and he was fabulous. Very knowledgeable and I know I learned a lot plus Jeff was very indulgent of my granddaughter's questions. We both had a wonderful day. Thank you Jeff! ????
Great experience with their wildlife tour as well as the hike! Kyle and Matt, our guides for the respective tours were fun, engaging and very informative! Would highly recommend getting to know Banff with this group!
Went on the Plain of 6 Glaciers trip. Had a blast. Views were wonderful. Hugh was an excellent guide.
We booked with Discover Banff tours and had the absolute best time with our tour guide Jeff. We were a group of 17 and were lucky enough to have Jeff for 2 full days. An absolute professional with knowledge and experience that was so beneficial to our kids who learned a lot. Our families had the greatest time with Jeff making the best memories. Make sure you request Jeff when booking he’s an absolute gem!
Amazing tours arranged for us by Discover Banff. Shoutout to Matt and Tyler who were great guides. Highly recommended!
Hey All, Today we took a tour with Aaron (@Discover Banff Tours). He was awesome. We have travelled the world with guides across all the major sites, I would like to put on record that Aaron was by far the best guide we have had . Jovial, amicable, knowledgeable and totally genuine. His story telling and enclopedia like brain was remarkable. We felt at ease on the tour, 5 hours whizzed by and his pace and tone was natural. Sometime tours sound scripted, however a tour with Aaron is like being lead by someone who is 100% committed to his trade, passionate and engrossed in what he is doing. He was fully versed on anything from flora an fauna, rock formations, social, ecological and his anecdotal delivery was very astute. All in all good spirited and a pleasure . We left the tour enriched and felt sated by Aaron's great company. Thanks to Aaron and Discover Banff have a gem. Thanks Jon and Luz Barcelona.
Had a great time on the Johnston Canyon tour. Neil was super informative and willing to answer any and all questions we had. The hot chocolate and maple cookies were a really lovely touch to the day. After going on this tour we booked more with discover banff tours, we were so impressed with the professionalism and knowledge that accompanied the whole tour experience from booking to taking part in the actual tour.
Our Lake Louise and Moraine Lake trip was excellently hosted by Gina. She was so knowledgeable, professional, and friendly, and available to meet any need.
The guide showed consideration and concern for all passengers. He was easy going, informative and enriched the Consolation Guided Tour by his interest and general knowledge around Morrain Lake ...pointing out significant Mountains, GIVING historical facts and stories! He was talkative, intuitive, and paced the hiking trip to suit all passengers. Thanks, Gaye
My partner and I had two days in banff and managed to sneak onto a johnston canyon ice walk. I am so glad we did, it was amazing! We had Aaron as our tour leader, who was bubbly, enthusiastic, incredibly knowledgeable and just a great tour leader all up. If you have a chance to go out with these guys definetly do, it's worth it. Thanks Aaron!
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit with Discover Banff Tours of the Johnson Canyon. Our guide Neil was fantastic being very knowledgeable and helpful. The sights were amazing and I would recommend this tour.
I went on a snowshoeing tour with Anick. She was very informative about the history of Banff. She was professional, easy going, fun, and made everyone welcome. I would recommend this amazing tour. Beautiful scenery!
We used Discover Banff Tours last year and this year for a day trip to Kicking Horse. Both times our drivers have been very friendly and helpful. Neal gave us some great insight on the area . Kicking Horse has some amazing terrain to ski that should be checked out. The tour price includes the bus ride and a day ticket which is the same or less than buying just a day ticket at the mountain.
Annick was great! Nice tour of the Johnston canyon????
I signed up for 2 tours, and I enjoyed it!! Awesome !
I twisted my ankle at Johnston Canyon and the tourist guy Andrew gave his hiking stick to me while I was not even his client. I wouldn't be able to reach the upper fall without that stick and I am sincerely appreciated for that. I can see the quality of his services to his guests during the trip and I would really recommend people choose Discover Banff.
Really friendly tour guides and informative tours
Went on the Johnson Canyon Icewalk tour with our guide Hugh. Very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. Also gave us ideas for other available tours in and around Alberta. This tour was amazing. Highly recommended. Thank you Banff Tours! -Nicola
We had an awesome Tour to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake! Heidi is the very best tour guide! She is very informative, very knowledgeable about the area, the history, the wildlife, especially the squirrels lol. I would highly recommend Banff Tours to anyone wanting to visit Lake Louise and Moraine Lake as the parking at these places are non existing. Without Heidi there would have been a lot of missing information about the Banff area that we would never have known. Cheers to Heidi!!!
Loved the Johnson canyon evening icewalk, our tour guide was knowledgeable and such beautiful sights from a different perspective
Took shuttle from Banff and did the hike from Lake Louise up to Plains of Six Glaciers Tea House. Our guide, Thibault, was great!!! Very knowledgeable about the Banff and Lake Louise areas. Had some great stories about the history of the Lake Louise area. Very patient with our group during the hike...allowing ample time to take pictures and tell stories. If we were skiers and were coming back to Banff, would definitely look up Thibault for lessons and other tours...
(Translated) Superb experience with Discover Banff Tours in October 2017, for a tour of Banff and Lake Louise. Our guide, Hugh, knew the area very well and had brought hot chocolate and cookies to enjoy on the banks of Lake Louise: D (Original) Super belle expérience avec Discover Banff Tours en Octobre 2017, pour un tour à Banff et à Lake Louise. Notre guide, Hugh, connaissait très bien la région et avait apporté du chocolat chaud et des biscuits à déguster sur les berges du Lac Louise :D
Hugh did a great job this morning guiding us through the trail.
We went on the Grotto Canyon Icewalk with a nice diverse group (families, couples and groups of friends). It was a very nice easy hike, with our guide stopping at intervals to tell us about the history of Banff National Park. Being a biologist, I really enjoyed the time spent on the concept on migratory corridors and the cohabitation between human and wildlife. We were fitted with ice cleats and offered walking sticks if we felt it was necessary. Our guide was very pleasant and professional. The hot chocolate was simply delicious. We recommend an icewalk with Discover Banff Tours to anyone looking to enjoy a very refreshing walk outside.
My husband and I booked the Banff, Lake Louise and Johnson Canyon Evening Ice Walk Tour. Jeff and Neil were absolutely amazing and made our tours super memorable, unique and surreal. Out of the 3 tours we went to, we have to say that the Johnson Canyon Evening Ice Walk was our favourite!! It’s not everyday you get to hike in the dark and see the clear night sky to admire the stars. Can’t wait to book the next flight back! - Patricia & Niel from Toronto
Neil was very entertaining and attentive during the Johnston Ice Walk tour. Had a blast!
We had a fantastic time on our tour with our brilliant guide Ronnie. We saw mule deer and a herd of elk!!! Was truly amazing and Ronnie was so lovely and informative, would thoroughly recommend!
Went on the four hour Via Ferrata trip with Amanda as our guide. Previously we have done the two hour trip. Both were excellent, and our guides made sure that everyone managed the sometimes strenuous climbs. Superb views and a real sense of achievement in managing both trips. One thing that stood out for me was the attention to safety at all times, though it was all done with a light touch. My son (15) told me we were coming back next year to do the six hour trip - a really hope we can!
Great experience. Learned a lot from Matt he is the Best ????????????????????
It is great day trip tour in Banff. My tour guide is Norm. He is so friendly and his talk is interested. I enjoyed this tour with fantastic sightseeing... Thanks!
I called Banff Adventures tour location (BA) on Sept 10 2020. I talked to head young supervisor Cara. I explained my situation with my experience with Horseback Trail Tour I had purchased. And I expressed kindly on phone, I was not happy. and gave my reason which I will explain shortly. “Sure, she said, let me see what I can do and I’ll get back you.” Thinking she is discussing with the owner or manger, BA decision was NO they would not issue refund. After politely insisting on the this cant be final say and I wish to talk to owner or head office Manger directly. Cara would not give me this information and expressed this was unprofessional and deceptive business tactics. There is always final say of hierarchy, I expressed. They must have head office. After Few Minutes later I find out from her Cara, she was talking to Discovery Banff Tours (DT) young supervisor. I said what does DT have to do with this. Apparently , DT bills BA for these horseback tours. So together, they (young supervisors) made the decision. with no hierarchy aware of my experience. Later, I Google head office locations for both DT and BA in Banff or near and nothing available. That peaked my attention that, these 2 companies are not credible and there decision are always no. So now, I'm confused and feel like I'm getting the run around. .....who do I go to?.... so first I went to DT ....Stacey young supervisor at DT. I expressed my situation and yet she said NO to a refund. I expressed, I understand not everyone can get a refund for not liking and experience. But do not feel as human being I have valid reason. I was not taking in beautiful environment of Banff and all I was doing was pulling on up on the horse though out the ride. Do you really feel that is fair. Isn't part of the experience of seeing lies in front of you and not down next to you. I asked her honestly close your eyes and visualize this pulling up on a huge horse. I said let be reasonable and both compromise, I asked for 50% discount so I can be on my way and close this and she refused. Ok I said Please give your head office number and email. And she refused. I wont deny this aggravated me and my volume of voice went up few times, that she was being unprofessional and deceptive. I asked if there was hierarchy then her and she said, YES. So I said give me info, so I can leave. She would not. I really was dumfounded why she would not disclose head office number so I personally can express my experience and they get the full picture.. “NO” she said and she would call the police. I said I'm not doing nothing wrong “go ahead and call the police”. In the mean the old guy was hearing us and this and got in my face and I'm not kidding wanted to fight me. I could not believe this was happening and I said call to Stacey call the police. Finally police came, all was fine. I expressed to poilce, DT is being deceptive and I came to get refund and get important head office info which they would not give. So I can deal with this in Ontario. RCMP did there thing (report) and we all left are ways. So I went to Jasper few days. When I came Back to Banff, I went to BA and went to see Cara asked refund. And had heard of the incident at DT. I said I have not nothing wrong and both of tours and not wiling to disclose head office number or emails. Something is wrong with that. There should be final resolution I expressed. She claims she passed it on to the head office and they said NO. But I have no evidence and they may of gotten baised and distorted information. Later...my Card company did an investigation, I received a refund.
Tour: Lake Louise and Moraine Lake I booked this tour for my fiance and I after our rental car plans fell through. I am SO glad that we did this tour. Our guide was awesome - funny and knowledgeable. While I was really hoping to see a grizzly, it was great to see a black bear. We had about 1.5 hours at Lake Louise which was perfect - enough time to walk a significant portion of the trail and back. I appreciated that we took a more scenic route back into town to see if we could spot anymore wildlife. If I ever get back to the area I would definitely book another tour with this company.
We booked a cowboy cookout excursion with this company. They essentially ripped us off on a technicality claiming that we were seven minutes late. They were happy to take $1800 from our pockets and provide absolutely nothing in return. Not even allow us to walk on the trail to the meal we had already pre-paid for. There were 12 of us. Never pre-pay for any of this company's excursions because they are looking to take your money rather than provide you with an enjoyable experience. Banff is a beautiful place but this is an ugly company.
Anick was our guide - she was very knowledgable and had a great sense of humour! Highly recommend.
Our family group did the Johnson Canyon Tour on Saturday February 13, 2021. Jeff guided our group professionally and with courtesy the entire time. He ensured his own pace did not exceed the group and he kept us spellbound with his stories and history of the area. When we reached the Upper Falls he surprised us with hot chocolate and cookies for all and used our phones to take group pictures. Would 100% recommend using this company to anyone and in these Covid restrictions the tour group ensured we hade a safe adventure.
We are a family of five who live a few hours away from Canmore (kids are 12, 15 and 18) and came for a few days over Reading Week. We thought it would be fun to book an excursion, just like we do when we go on a "real" holiday. Well, it was so worth it! Two of the kids had been on the grotto walk before, but without a professional guide. They were especially amazed at all the things that they hadn't seen before. We all enjoyed it so much. Although it is not a strenuous hike, it was a decent workout that I felt in my calves for two days . . . probably says something about my fitness level. The scenery was beautiful and our guide was very friendly and knowledgable. The bus picked us up exactly on time. The loaner ice grips were effective and our guide even had extra gear for those that might show up unprepared.
So this was an 11hour tour and spoiled only by the inefficiency of The Brewster company who organise the Icefield experience . We were Dropped off by DBT at the Icefields and in Brewsters hands for four hours and in that time we spent 15 minutes on the glacier ( you don't actually get to go to the Icefield) and 20 minutes on the skywalk. Brewsters have a monopoly and the customer comes second. That said the Discover Banff Tours people are great and very very knowledgable. Our driver was Annik and she was fantastic. The lakes are obviously stunning AND we managed to catch 5 bear sightings on the way - great trip
The Johnston Canyon Ice Walk was the highlight of my trip to Banff. Such a beautiful place and Gina was an excellent guide! Highly recommended it!
Did the Johnston Canyon Ice Walk 2/28/18 along with three others in our ski club. Really enjoyed the trip, the walk, and the scenery. Good job to our host Matt, shout out!!!!! Would recommend as a activity while in Banff in the winter.
The Johnston Canyon is absolutely stunning and was an enjoyable hike. I did feel as though it was a bit of a waste of money to go with a guide, however, you can access the hike by yourself and rent ice cleats and poles in Banff. Our tour guide wasn't as friendly and approachable as you would hope. His name was Hugh. He was telling us to look at the falls towards the right. I overheard another tour guide mention you can go up to look at the upper falls at the viewpoint up top. He replied that we can but he doesn't find the view that great from up there. When we did go up there, the view was absolutely stunning. It just seems like a waste to have to tell your guide where to take you and what you can do. I would not recommend this tour to friends and family due to the aforementioned reasons.
Great tour company. Great tours, friendly staff and very punctual. Had no issues reaching a rep to make modifications to a booked tour. Highly recommended!
Recently booked a tour with Discover Banff Tours. My trip started at 5pm and the website recommended that I should be there for 4:30. I was running ten minutes late so I called the tour company. I got there at 4:40 and wasn't able to do the trip even though the trip hadn't left. They wouldn't rebook me or give me a refund.
We booked a three pack: horseback riding, gondola and boat cruise. Great value for our buck! I recommend.
Matt our tour guide made the tour !!
We went on the evening wildlife discovery tour and had a wonderful time! Our guide, Edwin, was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Highly recommend this your.
Great tour and great guide (Tebo). Would recommend if you want a diverse day with great views.
We had a really great time on a few activities we booked through Banff Tours. We visited Johnston Canyon during the day (currently the road is only accessible to limited tour operators), and that was a fantastic experience. We thought the night option would be a unique way to see it, but really appreciated seeing everything in the daylight and getting to visit the upper falls. We also booked our Wolfdog Sanctuary tickets through Banff Tours (same price as going direct through the sanctuary), and this was another awesome experience. To finish off, went on a helicopter tour with Alpine Helicopters (booked via Banff Tours), and this was an incredible experience. It goes by quick but it was an absolutely exhilarating 20 minutes! I'd definitely recommend all three activities to anyone visiting the area.
Andrew was an awesome tour guide! He's knowledgeable and passionate with his job. We had fun Andrew, thank you.
We were enroute to the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary for my mother's birthday and had to turn around due to really poor road conditions and a severe weather warning. We called to rebook our tour and were informed it was not possible. I understand that it was very last minute to reschedule but not an unreasonable request under the circumstances. Yes, Alberta weather is unpredictable but explain to me why we should be out $432 for something that we have no control over? We were not looking for a refund, we just wanted to pick a another day so we did not have to risk getting into an accident. After a lot of back and forth with someone over the phone, they finally agreed to call the director and see what could be done. When I called back for an update, I was informed we could reschedule or get a refund, I hung up so everyone in our party could agree on a new date and called back. When I called back with our new date I was now told they could not reschedule our tour. I was then told the sanctuary managed to resell 6 of the of the 8 tickets we bought so we could be getting a refund for 6 of the tickets but not the remaining 2 tickets that didn't sell. I don't know how many times I stressed that we don't want a refund, we just want to reschedule. Because of your no refund policy, you have lost money. If we had just been able to reschedule due to circumstances beyond our control, you still would have sold 6 of the 8 tickets today plus, you would still have all our money and all of the supplies we were bringing to donate
Yeah yeah, 100$ with return shuttle from banff with lift tickets to kicking horse, that's all you gotta know. Boom
I booked two tours and both were excellent. Neil and Gina were fantastic guides who were very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable.
Even though the rain was pouring down and the thunder was roaring, the Evening Wildlife Safari was well worth the money as our tour guide was very informative and we left knowing a bit more than when we came. It was truly a wonderful experience! Thank you! The bear claw keychain was an added bonus that will be a treasured keepsake! Thank you!!
The hiking tour to Larch Valley was fantastic. You would be able to check the Ten Peaks and Moraine Lake from different angles. Our guide Thibault was very nice and always helped us to spot some hidden beauty in the meadows. They provided sufficient gears, water, and food to make the moderate hiking easier and safer. Highly recommend their service!
We had a great tour of Lake Louise and Moraine Lake today with our bus driver/guide Becca. Her insights added a lot to our experience and, as expected, the bus was the only way to get to Moraine Lake due to the crowds. Overall, the tour was a very good value.
My husband and I did the evening hike through Johnston Canyon on Jan 30, 2021. The walk was beautiful and going through the canyon in full dark with no lights on was an exhilarating way to use your other senses. The moon was full and the stars were amazing!! Our tour guide Neil was great to walk with and very knowledgeable. He seems to really love his job. Will definitely do the hike in the summer and would do the night walk again! 100% recommend this for anyone that loves nature and wants an exciting outing in Banff. ❤️
Overall enjoyable experience. The only downside is that the horses have to walk in single file on the trail. As a result, if you are further away from the tour guide, you can't really hear what she is saying. We saw an elk jumping into bow river!
We booked the evening safari. First they pick us up more then a half hour too late, because there was one couple (hotel pick-up) not on time. So they wait for them. Sorry but that's not okay. 8 people had to wait for them and we had less time. The group was not amused, and only a sorry we are a little late.? So it was not a good start. Second is that it's not worth the money. It cost more then cad50. We drive max 2 hours on 1 highway road (return) and we had to look if we see something, So they could stop. We saw a familie of Elks but we already saw them the day before with the camper. We Go look for a beaver but that was 300 mtr So the only thing we saw was a piece of wood moving in the water. It was very disappointing
This company is very bad, if you are late, your money is going with no mercy. All they want it about the money, they don't care about the customers. Never going back again and I will definitely let all my friends know about this bad company in Banff!
(Translated) Had a fantastic day with this company. Well cared for good guide. (Original) Fantastische dag gehad met deze firma. Prima verzorgd goede gids.
Had a wonderful experience walking Johnston Canyon with our guide. Very entertaining and the hot chocolate at the Upper falls a great treat!
I loved my experience with this company and will use them in the future! They were Very helpful with a situation that came up unexpectedly and replied to our email quickly. My family had a wonderful day thanks to their great customer service. Thank you so much!!
We did the Via Ferrata up on Mt. Norquay. It was awesome. The guide was great. We did the 5 hour trip. It's really cool and is a great time. It's was cool being on the edge.
Me and my wife did the Johnstin Canyon night walk and it was a great experience. Kelsey and Pete were awesome guides!
The "Discover Lake Louise Tour" is the most well organized scam I've ever taken a part of. I booked this tour because I wanted to experience Lake Louise fully (learn the history, see the sights, etc). But what I didn't know is that I was paying $144 for something I could do for free. Here are a few things that bothered me: - They promised a 9:15am pick up in Banff, and arrived at 9:35am. - The bus driver had very audible road rage and could not form a sentence to save his life. - He DROPPED US OFF at Lake Louise at around 11:00am, gave us our lunches, and said "See ya back here at 6:00!" So pretty much my friend and I paid $144 for a bus ride and a mediocre sack lunch. If I could give this agency a 0 star rating, I would, but the brownie was pretty good.
We booked two tours with Discover Banff and we’re so happy we did! First we snowshoed in Marble Canyon and later Johnston Canyon. The guides were very knowledgeable on the history of the area and the parks, environmental efforts to protect wildlife and more. Our guides were trained in winter driving which made us feel very safe. We also got to see some ice climbers at each location which was very cool to see. Snowshoeing for the first time was lots of fun and I’m glad we booked a tour instead of going on our own to Marble Canyon, as the snow was deep and the trail mostly covered several feet in snow. Much better and safer to go with a guide- thanks Discover Banff for some great tours!
Took a tour out to lake Louise! It was wonderful. First of all, our tour guide Janine was fantastic! She was knowledgeable, made an effort to connect with everyone on personal level, and had a great sense of humor. We had plenty of time to explore the area on our own. There are few things to do. Places at the hotel to warm up and restaurants to have a snack. Views are breathtaking. Glad we took a tour instead of heading out on our own as parking is very limited and it gets very congested to the point where they close the road and wait for visitors to leave to let next wave in.
BEWARE avoid Discover Banff Tours. They will take your money without a second thought. For a company that deals in tourism and hospitality they fail on all fronts. They were unwilling to accommodate our large group 12 people when we showed up 10 minutes late(still 5 min early) for our cowboy cookout tour. Took our $1800 for no services rendered. They were unwilling to work with us even though we booked other tours through them. STACY the manager was dismissive unapologetic and flat out rude.
Gina made our experience memorable & had such a genuine & enthusiastic personality! She was also very helpful with many recommendations of restaurants & sites to see. Would definitely recommend to everyone!!!
I had a great time on the Wildlife Safari. Our guide Nate was informative and funny. It was nice to get more information about the animals and we were lucky enough to see two bears! Took the tour mid-June 2015
My boyfriend booked us the johnston canyon tour during our visit in Banff. Jeff was our tour guide and the whole experience was amazing. Jeff is friendly and informative. I learned so much from him. The Johnson canyon tour itself was not bad especially coming from someone who hasn't regularly exercised since covid hit ???? the falls were beautiful and Jeff took great photos! my fave part of the tour was learning about the squirrels and the wolf pack! Overall I'd definitely recommend the tour especially Jeff!
We had a fabulous hike to Larch Valley. Our guide Brittany was knowledgeable and friendly and very patient with those who were having trouble with the altitude. Highly recomend this tour! Thank you very much.
It was simply amazing: great guide (thanks Neil) and greay spots. Would definitely recommend and do it again
Went on a guided hike with Heidi and she was amaizing! This was my first time doing a serious hike. She managed the pace well and made sure everyone could follow. She's also knowledgable, warm and fun. 100% recommend this!
We enjoyed our tour a lot and it was great to not have to find parking or pay for it! However, it would’ve been nice to have a little longer at the places. We got just under an hour at lake louise and roughly 40 mins at Lake moraine. We especially felt longer at Lake moraine would have been nice as you do have to walk a bit to get to the top and there is a gift shop/cafe. I felt like we were very rushed there unfortunately. Our tour guide was amazing, he was called rob and was so lovely and very informative. We also didn’t get our drink that was meant to be included:( the maple cookie snack was good though lol I think the main fault is that we stopped at a few viewpoints so it took us a while to get there. I think we would prefer if we had longer at the lakes than time at these viewpoints as this wasn’t what we paid to see or realised we were even doing. If they were to be included, maybe allow extra time for it so people have longer at the place they have spent money to see! We also couldn’t really see the viewpoints because of the smoke so it seemed like wasted time! Our tour was also running late as someone didn’t show up on time so this could have been a factor also.
The staff was nice and friendly. The company however could use more information of specifics of the tours they are running.
We booked our Lake Louise and Johnston Canyon excursions and we were not disappointed. We had a perfect guide, Neal, for both trips. He was quite helpful, informative (didn't know Banff was part of the longest pave highway) and knowledgeable. I had a slight ankle sprain but he waited for us and assured me not to hurry even though he had his next tour in the next hour. In Banff, book here!!
I did the 4 Hour Snowshoe Guided Tour. I was extremely disappointed. My expectation was a 4 hour snowshoe. Less travel time, lots of just standing around time, I think we may have snowshoed for an hour. In sub -20 temperatures the standing around was unbearable. Recommended for the unfit who just want to have the experience of putting snowshoes on their feet. Plus side.....the hosts were delightful.
We booked a helicopter flight, great communication and service
Jeff, our guide, was very knowledgeable and very attentive to all the members of our tour. We can say that once the tour was over, we had a better understanding of how each part of the mountain, ie: water, trees, animals, etc play such a crucial role in the mountains and the surroundings. The hike was very enjoyable!
Excellent tour! Matt was our guide and did a great job ..4.5 hours spent really well..highly recommend.
Fantastic hike with Rob walking the Plain of the Six Glaciers. We had the most perfect weather and a really small, compatible group. Rob was the perfect guide, knowledgable, attentive, friendly and good company. Just a wonderful day out. Top stuff.... thank you !
Our guide was amazing, explained to us everything and took care of everybody. Giving 3 stars because we booked one hike and we did something completely different. The company never informed us of the change of the itinerary
The Via Ferrata is not to be missed! Adventurous safe and memorable!
Our guide Jeff was awesome. He told us loads of background info about Banff and its history on the bus ride up, and all about the wildlife. Our hike up the mountain was fun and filled with amazing views in the snow and frozen falls. At the top, Jeff had hot chocolate and cookies which hit the spot on a cold day. Jeff made it fun for the kids by offering some trivia and extra cookies. The hike was a big effort for my 8 yr old daughter but she made it and pace was just right with little stops here and there. Jeff helped take photos of us in some cool spots too. I definitely recommend this tour.
I really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to anyone looking to find out more about the area and take in the breathtaking views. My guide, Nicole, was informative and friendly. Thanks for an awesome day!
This was a great experience! The icewalk thru the Johnston Canyon is a must. Our guide, Chris, was wonderful. He did a great job of spending a little time getting to know each member on the tour as we walked. We could tell he really loved and respected our natural surroundings and the feeling was contagious. The canyon itself is beautiful. We took lots of pictures.
(Translated) I don't know any other reviews, but I urgently booked the same day and toured the same day. A little over $ 150 including 2 people tax. Fortunately, there was some money left, but I applied for a tour from 12:30 to 5 o'clock. Please note that what I did was the Lake Louise tour. It would be great if you could listen to English and make a reservation. Also, if you take the tour bus, you can introduce yourself, so let's do your name and I'm from South Korea.
This company stole our money. Stay away! We booked a horseback ride and the staff at the stables was rude and refused to let our group go because we were only 5 minutes early instead of 15 minutes early. We watched the group load up and they would not wait. They made no accommodation. And they refused to give a refund. They are happy to take your money and they don't care about customer service because they assume you're a tourist and they will never have to deal with you again.
September 2020 we had a group of seniors visit Banff from Calgary. All of us have spent most of our lives with quick trips or hiking holidays in the area but this time we wanted someone else to 'do the driving.' Hugh gave us a very personal, informative and fun trip to Lake Louise and Morraine Lake including updated statistics and information. His description of the other tours offered, made us want to stay longer and take more tours. Well worth the dollar.
BEWARE!!!! This company does not believe in customers service. I would strongly recommend you book your excursions with another company. There are way better and more ethical and honest companies to use in Banff than this one. If you pre pay they will look for reasons to keep your money and double book the event and look for a way to not provide you with what you paid for.
We booked 2 tours with Discover Banff Tours, and couldn't be happier that we did. We travelled during the summer of COVID, and had some last minute changes and cancellations and they where more than accommodating and willing to work with us. They refunded us right away for the 1 person who chose to not travel with us. Then when the tragic incident happened 3 days before our trip at the Icefields, we received a call from them, offering to either re-book the tour or give us a full refund. Unfortunately we weren't going to be around long enough to re-book so we took the refund. Great company, great people, HIGHLY recommend
Seems like a nice outfitter.

Did the Yamnuska Hike June 7 2018. Had a great time, hard going but worth it. Our guide Chris did a great job. This was the original hike we booked as they had to delay the start of regular season walks because of snow conditions, however they kept us fully informed and provided an excellent alternative. The provided lunch was great too. I would definitely use Discover Banff again.
Amazing tour by really nice guide/driver who explained everything along the way very well. had a great time at the columbia icefields and we left and came back at the scheduled time. it was very well organized. also received a nice lunch included in the price for the tour, over the 20% off which no other tour company was offering
