We had a really lovely tour with Justin. He was excellent at teaching us how to sea kayak, and made steady, genuine conversation during the tour. He told us about the area and the snacks we super tasty. It made for a lovely day, definitely consider it on your trip to cape Breton.

Did the half day guided trip as an introduction to kayaking. It was just the right amount of time with plenty of things to see. Our guide, Justin, did a great job of going over the equipment. He was also excellent at getting everyone acquainted and made the group experience a lot of fun.

Great operation! Took the 1/2 day tour with Angelo and had a great time spotting wildlife and kayaking on the river. The beach was a lovely place to stop and have snacks. Great activity to complement exploration of Cape Breton!

Absolutely phenomenal. Super friendly service, great help for starters and anyway with experience. Very fair prices along with clean and cozy overnight cabins. Highly recommended for any trip to the island and or anyone willing to try it out.

If you’re visiting Cape Breton on a budget but willing to splurge on something fun then this is totally worth every penny! Our guide, Graham, was very patient, down to earth and very nice overall. The views were breath taking rivalling any views in BC, better even. The snack and tea at the beach was very tasty especially that rhubarb jam. Although we did not stay at the cabins on site they appeared to be very clean and super nice making me wish we had stayed in one! Totally worth it and no regrets!

Excellent service provided by Angelo and Daniel! Amazing tour on kayaks! We were trying kayaks first time in life, but with excellent training given by Daniel it was easy even for our 7-years-old. Definitely recommend to everyone to try.

Amazing tour by Justin. He was a great teacher and the snack was good. He was great at showing us all the eagle nests that he knew of and was informative about the area. He was also great at making conversation which made the tour so much better!

Highly recommend North River Kayak Tours! It was one of the highlights of our trip around the Cabot Trail. The scenery was stunning and we particularly enjoyed our stop at a little beach where we were able to go for a quick swim before enjoying a cup of homemade tea and lovely conversation with Angelo and the other members of our tour–it was a true taste of Maritime hospitality and an experience we will remember with fondness for years to come!

Great guided kayaking tours, especially for those who haven’t kayaked before. The half day trip included an eagles nest, waterfall, and abandoned mill. Guides are friendly and knowledgeable, would happily go again.

Everything about our experience was just perfect, from easy booking online to some instructions about the basics of kayaking, fitting us out in top of the line equipment, and then the most awesome padding adventure. My wife and I were both first time paddlers and Angelo and Danielle showed us exactly what we needed to know. They were so nice and just so professional, they think of everything. The shore lunch was great, I never saw so many great blue herons and eagles in one place before. We can't wait to go again. Just wish we had planned on staying in the cabins, Danielle gave us a tour, they are beautiful and we'll definitely be spending the night next time. Thanks again for the great time! And the drive there is very pretty, a very scenic area especially this time of year.

Wow! This was a trip of a lifetime. Angelo and his crew invite you into their beautiful world up in St. Anne's Bay and host you as they would good friends. I have never been on a tour where the guides have been so friendly, authentic, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The kayaking was fantastic, and my friends and I also learned a great deal about the natural history of the area and it's people. As an example of the sites, at the beach where we stopped for a snack (homemade bread and Angelo's own strawberry-rhubarb jam), we watched bald eaglets fledge the nest with their parents circling above. Highly recommend a trip to Cape Breton and a day (or even just one of their short tours) at North River Kayak.

This was a great sea kayaking experience! My fiancé and I were travelling the Cabot Trail and were staying in a cabin adjacent to the kayak place, owned by the same person (Angelo is a wonderful host and guide!). We went on a 3 hour kayak tour of the area and stopped at a small beach with a waterfall, and Angelo shared with the group what looked like homemade banana bread and rhubarb jam (YUM!). We definitely recommend stopping here on your Cabot Trail travels!

We are so happy we decided to do this kayak tour! My husband has experience but I'm a novice so I was a bit worried about the 1/2 day tour but it was the perfect distance. Great way to spend the morning. It's an easy 30 min drive from Baddeck; we left our accommodations around 8am so we arrived early and had time to grab a Tim's before our 9am tour. Angelo is awesome, very hospitable. Graham, who is new to the area, was very knowledgeable about the area regarding nature and some history. He was our guide and was excellent. We went over the safety stuff and how to paddle on dry land. He stayed with the group members that needed a bit more support and gave more experienced kayakers some berth. My husband particularly liked that - he's been on tours in other parts of the country where the guide spends alot of time trying to corral people etc. It was extremely peaceful. We are hoping to return in the fall and plan to invite friends to come up to enjoy it with us!!

Thank you Frank! My fiancé and I had the best time on our half day kayak trip with you in August. The teaching before the half day trip was super helpful and definitely improved my paddling. The food and warm tea was so delicious. I felt safe and happy during this entire experience, and we appreciated the referral to food and beer in the area. Hope to return one day for a full day trip!

We stayed here for two nights. First day, we did a guided kayak tour which I highly recommend. Graham was our guide and he was very nice, knowledgeable and kind. Serena & Angelo were also fantastic. Would 10/10 return.
