Our family had a wonderful time ice walking with Sam. He was very knowledgeable with Johnston Canyon and outdoor stuff. Ice walking on family day weekend was a lot of fun. My son had a great time throwing snow balls and making snow man with Sam. Thanks for a great time!

I have wanted to snowshoe Fortress Mountain Resort for so long now. And today I have crossed out one of my bucket list. It was so easy booking online. This was worth the money I paid for. Our Guide Marc really made us feel at home in the Rockies and he was really passionate about his guiding job. Although there was a snowstorm he made sure all of us are enjoying the weather. This is an experience you can't bypass you will be in an exclusive ski resort where towering fortress walls provide the scenic view.

My family and I signed up for the First Tracks Snowshoe Tour in winter (Jan 2020) with White Mountain Adventures and let's just say that was the most amazing experience we had throughout our entire time in the Canadian Rockies. I’ve always enjoyed exploring the great outdoors so I had a few things on my check list when I was looking for a tour/activity. And I’m happy to share that we’re all glad to have found and stuck with White Mountain Adventures. To my understanding, the access to the trail they had was unique to their company, and it really takes you far away from the usual, crowded touristy treks. Once you're there, it's just you with the mountains, lakes and woods. It’s peaceful and adventurous, but also very safe (good for everyone of all ages)! I’d like to highlight that our guide, Alex Mowat, was extremely knowledgeable and fun. We learnt so much more about the national park, wildlife and history from him - and a lot of these are very in depth information you may not be able to find easily online. He could also point out mountains in the distances and tell us exactly what they are called as well as the story of how they were founded and named. He makes you feel like you’re travelling with a friend rather than a tour guide. Apart from experiencing snowshoeing at the Continental Divide (very cool), we also got to try authentic maple taffies made atop a frozen lake! I have a feeling that if kids were on this tour, they’d love this segment the best. Last but not least, with thanks to Alex and White Mountain Adventures, my boyfriend and I got engaged on the tour! Both of us thought it was a beautiful place and actually did a double proposal at the same time and same location. Alex was very kind to help us document the moment. Quoting Alex, the Continental Divide ended up bringing two people together! Thank you for being such a great sport and the itinerary is simply perfect. We are already planning for our next trip back and we’ll definitely go with White Mountain Adventures again! For whoever’s looking for a wonderful time in Banff, look no further. This is it.

We did the Fortress Mountain Guided Snowshoe and it was unbelievable. It was the highlight of our Canada trip this year

Teresa Sofocleous

We had a great tour of Johnston's Canyon. Kristi was very knowledgeable and friendly. We would use White Mountain Tours again and recommend them.

Trevor Pickett

My girlfriend and I did the Snow Shoe and Johnston Canyon walk with guide Marc (from Quebec). We had an awesome day. Marc was a very knowledgeable guide and quite friendly. I definitely would recommend this great experience to anyone.

What do Canadiens do when it is almost spring? Try Backcountry Snowshoeing! There is great joy in hiking through the powder snow in the back country mountain forest. Amazing views, some fitness and great joy in playing in the snow. I am a total mountain enthusiast and enjoyed this new way to experience the mountains. Totally worth the price of admission. Alex, our guide, knew when to provide breaks, chare interesting history/facts and he surprised us with over a hundred pictures and videos that captured moments when we were just playing. Alex Mowatt of White Mountain Adventures mixed the perfect concoction of facts and frivolity. Thanks for an amazing day.

Nice snowshoe hike on "Top of the World" at Sunshine Village, with our awesome guide Cindy. The place was gorgeous, the day was cold but gorgeous as well. We learn a lot because of the knowledge of Cindy! We enjoyed our hot chocolate and tea, and cookies, during the break! I really recommend that company if you want to have a great day in the middle of the Rockies!

Natasha Beauchamp

What a fun day, not to mention how beautiful it was. We got lucky to go on a warm and clear day with a ton of fresh snow. The adventure with Cindy was fun, informative and great exercise. We spent 2.5 hours snowshoeing, stopped for a few breaks, recieved warm hot chocolate and cookies and then continued on. Bring your camera as the background is unreal.

Michael was an amazing guide and definitely made our snowshoe trip a memorable one! This is something I will be sharing with friends to check out!

We booked the "Snowshoeing on Top of the World at Sunshine Village" on december 27th with 2 guides (Matt and Jen). It was FABULOUS. The 2 guides were very friendly, PROFESSIONAL and passionate. They put safety first as they decided to do kind of a hybrid of a hike due to the conditions (extremely cold that day, -33 C), without altering the experience. At first we were pretty worried because of a very bad experience we had a day prior (fell into a frozen lake at -40 C with an irresponsible guide) and also due to the extreme conditions of the day (-33 C). My mom was even more worried as she was the oldest and was afraid to slow the group down... She even thought of not doing the hike at all. When we told Jen, she immediately reassured us and especially my mom, as she told her that we would stay in group and she would never be left alone since they were 2 guides. She also never rode a chairlift before, and Jen took all the time and precautions needed to ensure that she stayed safe. We also emailed them 2 days before and they answered pretty quickly. As we had more questions, we also emailed them the morning of the hike and they answered immediately. As for the hike itself, the view was stunning. We even got to know a little bit about the place, and Jen and Matt were really good at answering questions we had. We could observe some animal trail and Matt had little cards to show us what the animal that made the trail looked like. In terms of difficulty, this hike is considered "moderate to strenuous". My mom (62 y.o.) found it quite hard but enjoyed it so much as he could take her time and stop to catch her breath when she needed. I found it quite easy (26 y.o.) but enjoyed it as well since I could run and play around. In conclusion, I HIGHLY recommend this hike even in the winter, as it is suitable for all physical conditions and you are guaranteed to be safe at all times, and a LOT of fun ! We definitely will be booking other hikes with them again, winter or summer !!

We hiked Plain of 6 Glaciers with Tara and had an incredible experience!! Tara led a great comfortable pace , was wildly informative, and made us feel safe and confident the whole way. Difficulty-wise, it starts out nice and easy walking around Lake Louise and then there is a pretty steady uphill haul for 3.5 miles. Wear good boots. Can’t beat the expansive views of glaciers and Louise in the background. Stunning. This hike exceeded our expectations, and you’re lucky if you get Tara as a guide!

Thank you White Mountain Adventures for sharing your expertise and knowledge during our 2 group hikes this past Tuesday & Thursday. Top notch service with our guides: Kristi, Jeff & Adrienne.

Definitely worth it!!! I had the best time heli-hiking with White Mountain!! I showed up and got a safety briefing and they checked my equipment to make sure I had enough warm stuff for the top of the mountain. Due to rain in the area they even let me borrow some waterproof pants. So nice! We took off and it was so amazing and fun to ride up to the mountain. I felt very safe! We landed and hiked for around 3 hours. It was awesome!! There were gorgeous views, lots of animal sightings and I learned a lot about the area and nature there. The guide was super knowledgeable!! They picked us up a few hours later for the ride back down! Everything was done perfectly!! This is a must do in Banff!!!!

Tania Civico

Fantastic tour and guides with so much to offer through the winter!

Melissa Garfy

This tour experience definitely exceeded my expectations which were already high to begin with. Our guide was Alex and he was great from beginning to end. The snow conditions were amazing and if we forgot a detail Alex had us covered. You would never be able to do this without a guide as we went through restricted areas. The fresh powder was amazing and we played, raced, and rolled around trekking up and down the mountain. This company is super organized and professional. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tour, Alex as a guide and this company to anyone. Thank you!

Great winter experience, snowshoeing at Sunshine Village. The guides were professional, friendly and fun, and made the experience a fantastic one. will definitely recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to skiing this winter.

We spent a full day with Magda and it was the best nature tour we've ever done. Lake Louise and Lake Morein are stunning and capping the day off with a mountain top lunch with a magnificent view was just perfect. But the highlight of the trip was Magda. She is full of passion and love for her job. It was a pleasure to listen to her fascinating explanations. She is a wonderful human being and we would love to do any tour with her

Amie Vanlieshout

Hilarious and extremely knowledgable staff who seem to actually enjoy their job. Views of the Canadian Rockies were exceptional on this slow paced, leisurely day tour. Expect light to moderate physical exercise.

Jane Benson Chan

Amazing views. Try to go on a day when it's not overcast. Save room for lunch in the sky Bistro with panoramic views, absolutely stunning.

Snowshoeing on Top of the World was fantastic. May, our guide, was extremely insightful and well organized. She even brought tea, hot chocolate, and cookies during our snowshoeing through the backcountry. The whole trek was extremely fun and a good workout

Edaye Sonia

The trip to Johston canyon was extraordinary and the view was spectacular. Our guide was amazing and she has a great knowledge of the geology and the history of Banff and of the Canyon. I definitively recommend white mountain tours for you exploration of Banff. It was a great experience.

Emily Gabriel

We had an amazing time on the Snowshoeing on Top of the World at Sunshine Meadows tour!! Not only was Tara extremely knowledgable, she was also so much fun, and it was clear that she genuinely loves what she does. Would highly recommend this tour - thank you WMA!

marion herbert

Top of the world snowshoeing, great fun today, beautiful back country and spectacular scenery. Jennifer did a great job, knowledgeable and fun! Thanks for making the day safe and interesting. I would recommend this tour if you want to experience snowshoeing in this pristine environment.

rene radomski

Our guide was amazing. She was very fun and knowledgable. Had a wonderful experience, worth every penny. She knew the terrain well and made the entire experience awesome.

I did a Snowcat Snowshoe Adventure with White Mountain and it was AMAZING! Our guide, Marc, was very professional and a lot of fun. He took care of us the whole time. We accessed backcountry terrain, thanks to the snowcat, and we were able to play in the fresh snow all day. It's one of the best ways to get "outta town" and experience the true beauty of the mountains. They pick you up, they provide equipment and snacks, and they drop you off when it's all said and done. All you have to do is have fun! I highly recommend this trip.

Stephanie Fidel

I've been fortunate enough to go on two snowshoe trips up fortress mountain with White Mountain Adventures with my company over the last few years and they were amazing (even at -20 degrees!) - a highly recommended team building activity! I also wanted to give a BIG kudos to White Mountain Adventures! Today my husband and I were walking down the Lake Louise service road after backpacking Skoki loop. Apparently there was a black bear on the service road (we just missed it!) and a person from White Mountain Adventure's actually stopped and let us and another couple ride their shuttle to ensure we made it down safely, avoiding a potentially dangerous bear encounter! We REALLY appreciated it :)

Went on 7 hr k country tour, away from the hustle of Banff and just as beautiful. Michele was great, so knowledgable on the area. She spoke for close to probably 6 out the 7 hrs, not an easy task. Saw plenty of wildlife along the way. Thanks Michelle, made tour A++++

Tara Mensah

The e-bike tour was so fun. Our guide, Jeff, was great! Would recommend!

We had a great time with Mags snowshoeing on Fortress Mountain on a beautiful Sunday morning. She was very informative, helpful and charming, as well as fun to be around. My boyfriend and I lucked out and were the only ones on the mini trek. This is a very easy to do experience for those who people who are moderately fit. The views were spectacular! Usually one has to trek for hours, if not a day, to get these kind of views. The experience is well worth it. We'll definitely go with White Mountain Adventures the next time we're back in Alberta!!

Glenna Wink Foight

Did a snowshoeing "on top of the world" experience with White Mountain Adventures when at a conference in Banff. Our guide Alex was great - very patient with our group's varied abilities. The views from the top of the Sunshine ski resort were amazing!

John Cary

We opted for the glacier walk tour from Banff. Jeff was great at teaching us about glaciera and the surrounding mountains, rivers, animals, and glaciers while on the drive up. He was really patient and helpful every time we wanted to stop to take pictures of bears and goats and other wildlife. Highly recommend this crew to take you on a good trip!

Kevin Johnson

Went on a winter Lake Louise trip with guide Jeff Samson. He gave us a great historical perspective on Banff and provided us with a unique snowshoeing experience on the hills surrounding Lake Louise. During the winter season, you'll definitely need a waterproof jacket, gloves, snow pants, and a solid pair of boots. We got into some pretty deep snow, which was great but glad I came prepared.

Logan Muller

We did the E-bike/hike tour from Johnson Canyon to Banff, about 27 km with a hike up to the lower falls (which was great on a hot day). Had a great experience with Dennis in the Banff office before we were shuttled our to our starting point. From there, Jeff guided us for the rest of the day. He was extremely knowledge and down to earth. It was 37c (June 2021); Jeff took many shaded breaks so we didn't overheat. He also made a stop to refill our water along the way. Overall, great experience, highly professional and well organized. I also found the price to be quite reasonable. Thanks!

Clarence Verveda

We had a great day at Fortress Mountain snowshoeing! Alex, our guide was awesome. He combined lots of interesting bits of area history into our snowshoeing adventure. He was a great host from beginning to the end of our trip. This was our first time snowshoeing in the mountains and it was everything we expected. Thanks White Mountain for a great day.

Amazing tour of the Johnston Canyon with Adrienne. She is very knowledgeable and experienced guide and we had a great time with the ice walk. Would definitely recommend their tours!

Had a great day enjoying Johnstons Canyon. Great tour, everything was on time a ran very smoothly. It was so nice to experience this.

Mary Brown

My grandson and I participated in the Banff 4 hour E-Bike and Johnston Canyon walking tour with Jennifer as our guide. Johnston Canyon is spectacular and E-biking is a BLAST!!! A fabulous adventure for a 13 and 63 year old. I would highly recommend this activity with White Mountain Adventures.

Megan Turnidge

The top of the world snowshoe tour with Tara was such a cool experience! The views are unbelievable, and learning to use snowshoes was a lot of fun. On top of that, Tara knew so much about the area's history and had a lot of experience skiing and hiking around Banff, which was really interesting and helpful.

My husband and I travelled to Banff for our 20th anniversary and fell in love with the beautiful scenery. Our guide Mark was very knowledgeable about the history, geography, geology, biology, and sports, in the area as well as all the fun stuff to do in town, where to eat and even Monday night specials. I learned so much about the plants and animals in the area, but the best part of the trip was the hike (which was the perfect pace for this 45 year old - not particularly athletic) and all the views he took us to. We'll always remember our 20th, and Kootenay Park. I highly recommend this trip. Remember to dress warmly in layers (I had two thermals, hiking boots, scarve, beanie, snow jacket. It did snow during the hike. The scenery is breathtaking.

Absolutely amazing. My family and I visited Banff for a week and wanted to do a guided tour as we are unfamiliar with the area. White Mountain Adventures was recommended by another tour operator that didn’t have availability for us and WOW! Absolute incredible professionals from Dennis who recommended options and Jeff & Chris our on-site tour guides. Extremely professional and knowledgeable. Our families had the most memorable time at Fortress Mountain with this tour operator. Highly recommended 10 stars!!!!!

Leanna Lai

Had such a great day with May during our hike to Larch Valley this past week. She was very knowledgeable and always sought out opportunities to show us specific things during our hike. Fantastic day out and would do this again !

Doug Plant

Excellent trip to Sunshine Meadows, highly recommended.

Karen Staples

Went snow shoeing today with our guide Mags. What a brilliant day and guide. Mags was so enthusiastic, knowledgeable and happy, you could tell she loved her job and taking people to the 'top of the world'. The snow shoeing was hard as there had been so much snow fall...It's not for the faint hearted! or very unfit, but well worth the effort and although it was hard work we had so much fun as well.. The view's and scenery were fantastic and breathtaking. Words cannot describe the magnificence of it all. I highly recommend this tour. Thank you Mags for a fantastic day, your enthusiasm made the day.

Hilary Johnstone

Firstly, booking was friendly and easy with Julia responding to my email and answering questions on phone immediately. Had a great hike with Chris(guide) who was easy going , very informative and paced his info moments on the trails perfectly. We highly recommend this tour company!

From the initial contact with White Mountain Adventures with Dennis to the conclusion of our time with them we cannot say enough about the quality of service we received. It was all effortless and seamless. This is a very professional and safety conscious team. We spent 3 days with Jennifer and could not be more pleased. She was prompt pleasant knowledgeable and professional. She clearly wanted to make sure that we had a good experience and she succeeded. There is not 1 negative thing to be said about White Mountain Adventures. We would not hesitate to wholeheartedly recommend them and we will use use them in the future

We went on the snow shoe adventure to Fortress Mountain with White Mountain Tours. Alex Mowat was our guide. What a great trip. We were well taken care of, had a wonderful time and were treated to some of the most beautiful scenery and snow in the Alberta rockies. We highly recommend White Mountain Adventures.

This was our first time using White Mountain Adventures and we could not have been happier, all of our staff took part and are still talking about how much fun they had. This is likely something we will do every year for our Christmas party! The crew is so fun and all you have to do is show up, they take care of everything. Great job guys, I will most definitely be recommending you to anyone looking for a great time and a fun team building activity.

LiveLoveLoretta

We just returned from Banff , we had the best weekend the highlight of our trip was going on a snow shoeing adventure with our guide kristy! She was very professional and knowledgeable about everything out on the mountains. Giving us details throughout the trip and also explained all the safety requirements prior to the trip for a safe day out on the mountains. Our group had a ton of fun she let us stop and take a ton of pictures too. We already want to come back for another tour. If you’re thinking of booking with this company do it , you will not be disappointed. Thanks so much kristy and we will see you again !! - Loretta , Liam, Jackson & Genai

Johnston Canyon Ice Walk We booked this activity online but first had questions and received a response right away, which was amazing considering it was a Sunday. The company was very accommodating right from the beginning. Our tour guide Sam, met us a the designated pick up on time and taking all the necessary COVID 19 precautions. The hike up the canyon was stunning, we had it all to ourselves Because of COVID, the road is blocked and you can only get through with a tour guide, unless you want to walk the 6k in from the gate. Our guide Sam was friendly and knowledgeable, not only about the canyon, but the entire surrounding area, and more! It's a total of about 3k and totally worth it, you must see and this company will be sure to take care of you and make your experience memorable while doing it!

Great views and awesome guide!

I found this White Mountain Adventure E-Bike tour to Johnston Canyon from a YouTube video posted by “Must Do Canada”. It truly is a Must-Do. We had a great time with our guide Jeff. We got to see plenty of spectacular views and learned about local knowledge from Jeff. Overall it’s a 5/5 star and would love to try other tours that White Mountain Adventure has to offer!

Darrel Greer

What a great way to begin our first visit to the Canadian Rockies! With Jennifer as our expert guide, we enjoyed touring the beauty of Banff National Park, hiking to wonderful vistas of lakes and peaks, seeing the wildlife, and learning about the uniqueness of the region. Jennifer also gave us some valued insight about the hiking opportunities and sights in and around Banff. Excellent value and superb hospitality—couldn’t have been better!????????????

Awichifli

Great tour up to Larche Valley with our duper guide Jeff. He took care of us really well and shared his knowledge about plants, animals and life. 100% recommended

Robin DeWinne

We had an amazing day with Adrian at Johnson Canyon Ice Walk. We took our 10 yr old son and it wasn't too difficult. Adrian took our time and lots of breaks to make us comfortable. We enjoyed the knowledge she shared of the area and really appreciated all the photos she took of us. Incredible experience and would love to go back in the summer to see the contrast

Marsha Williams

I booked the Canadian Rockies multi-day hiking trip through Great Canadian Trails. As it turned out, White Mountain Adventures actually led the trip, but we didn’t find this out until about 5 days before we departed. Communication prior to the trip was not good at all after they confirmed receipt of payment. More importantly, the level of difficulty FAR exceeded what was described. The trip was labeled “Introductory” level, but 4 of the 5 day hikes were strenuous! Lunch and snacks were below expectations, as well. This was the 4th guided hiking trip I’ve booked, each with a different company (REI, Backroads, and Auswalk), and all of the others labeled “moderate” level. This one was significantly more challenging, and didn’t come close to the standards of the others.
