Great time at the Christmas Celebration at the Rocky Mountain Historical site!

We enjoyed the exhibits.

Amazing national history with fun for all.

I always love visiting here to learn more about history and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Great place to relax

Very interesting with great exhibits. Loved the walking trails. Staff are very knowledgeable and friendsly

History

Fantastic interpreters

Well taken care of and beautiful scenery.

Interesting

the RCMP MUSICAL RIDE was excellent

Lots to see and do. There are also various activities geared towards kids such as dress up clothrs and play forts.

Good place. Needs at least 4 hrs to see completely.

Very affordable entry and lots to see. I planned on just stopping in for an hour and ended up staying half the day!

Fright Night at the Site was an awesome experience! Thanks to the RNHS staff and Confluence Campus for their hard work in organizing a successful event?

We enjoyed the park with all the history and spent the night in a teepee. Its was a really nice experience and will be back again !

(Translated) A place not to be missed if you are in this region. You learn a lot there and the reception of the staff is of high quality. (Original) Un endroit à ne pas manquer si vous êtes dans cette région. On y apprend beaucoup et l'accueil du personnel y est de haute qualité.

Really beautiful, lots of history, great walking trails, amazing programs and a great campground!

Wonderful historic site. Beautiful! (and kid friendly)

Great experience. Wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Excited walkdown through the history of Canada where we learned about the life of David Thompson and share some of the lifestyle of the Meti's Nation.

Great play to visit for a day. Lazy staff. Our campsite had garbage all over the place. Nothing like walking around on cigarette butts.

Beautiful site, well maintained and very informative to the past history and culture of the area. Not terribly busy most days, though the Canada Day celebrations are worth the crowd!

Awesome hidden gem of a place. Beautiful, clean, staffed by the nicest ppl you could ever hope to meet. Great place to bring the family. Check out their heritage camping for a cool, unique experience.

Friendly place

Best place to have Canada day celebrations ???? also great to check out during the summer months.

Loved his park! Very family friendly and easy on the wallet. Cannot believe I’ve lived in central Alberta my entire life and had never heard of this place! The reception was happy, helpful and smiling. Will absolutely be back.

Interesting way to spend a couple of hours, get some exercise and learn Canadian history. Well worth the visit.

Rocky Mountain Inn is a great place to stay. We met the Inn owners Sam and Salma and had a wonderful stay at this cozy relaxed hotel. It’s clean, comfortable and heartwarming. I will definitely be back!

I love it so much

Excellent place to visit and learn about the history of the area and development of Western Canada

Great place!

Our school really enjoyed our guide and field trip. A hidden jewel.

Good for Yong kids

A worthwhile place to visit if you are in the area, but probably not a destination itself unless you are really into the history of the fur trade of the area. All the special events they have are great, especially the Christmas celebration.

Interesting place. Lots of history. Good knowledgeable staff. Good place to spend a couple hours

Nice place.

This place was such an amazing experience to learn about indigenous life and facts. Got to explore the outside check out some trails, see how blacksmith makes weapons. Such a terrific amazing experience

Great! We are a family of four ( two boys age 10 and 7 years old) we spent 3 hrs here. The staff was informative and fun and the entire site was really well taken care of. The boys were engaged the entire time.

Nice done and interesting

What a wonderful venue, providing so much Canadian history and information about region

Nice informative place

Great place to learn about the Hundson Bay Company as well as having opertunities to see traditional dancing and blacksmithing.

What a great place! Had tickets to RCMP Musical Ride so booked camping spot for weekend. After enjoying Musical Ride, we spent the day exploring the park. Amazing! Interactive auditory displays, great information signs on trails, knowledgeable and very helpful staff around every corner. Got to sample bannock with homemade jam, watch a young lady fashion a hook at the blacksmith forge, and see an amazing group of young people (and their "older" guitar player) present music and dancing, even getting the visitors to participate. All the questions we asked about the history and traditions, tools and equipment, people and heritage answered so professionally by even the youngest of staff/volunteers. Will definitely be returning....maybe to experience night in tepee or quaint cabin!

Lots of walking, but the scenery is nice and there’s a lot to see and do.

Don't blow off this wonderful day trip from Edmonton or Calgary. Well worth the drive.

(Translated) Breathtaking views (Original) Panorami mozzafiato

Learned a lot of new things about fur trade and settlement and Canadian history. Lovely setting with interpretive exhibits and two walks with different features.

Really good…

Small but important location in the history of the European settlement of the west. We went on Free day and the place was filled with activities. I've been there other times, and it's not hard to see why they chose this spot to settle.

Love it!!!

Cool history, great people there too.

Very historical and informative. Trails are beautiful

Great wifi and red eyes!

What a privilege to be able to take my kids to these place. Interesting and entertaining!!! Lots of nice people.

Large area. Nice walking path around sights. Inside area lots of artifacts...bought meat / steak hook. Great price fun gift. Made by blacksmiths there. Works great. Buy one. Puppet show needs sprucing up a bit...puppets costumes looking worn. Animal pellets very interesting as was the buffalo hunt story. River views nice

Was more than I expected. Must see

Well kept grounds and the "storyteller " of reminiscing pioneer time was very informative and interesting. The walkabout trails were great. Looking forward to visiting again. ????

Lots of interesting history here

Very good displays, the interpretive actors did a very good job of conveying thd spirit of the Metis. It's a place worth visiting.

If you have time go and see the nature it is good to see ????????????

Wonderful experience! Beautiful environment and facility that blends with the outdoors. Excellent, informative exhibits and interactive demonstrations highly recommended. Staff are so informative and friendly.

Not well developed, lots of walking. Bring your own food and bug spray. Inexpensive admission $4 adult.

We spent a weekend camping here and visiting the site and we had a great time. Kids didn't want to leave. The campground could use a couple more showers and toilets as there was always a big lineup waiting for these. The historical site was pots of fun and there are people to explain things at each area. Staff were very informative and kept it child friendly. My children especially loved the Metis tents and area which is run by the Metis Association where they were cooking bannock over the fire, there were fiddle and dance performances where the public was encouraged to join in and tents to explore.

Nice place, good activities for the kids, very informative

(Translated) Amazingly beautiful (Original) Geweldig mooi

Visitor center explains it all, so info on outdoor plaques gets kind of repetitious. Listening stations are well done. Interpretive experiences were all very good & staff was very informative. Kudos on those!

Great place to visit!

Great Experience!!

Our group of eight (4 adults, 4 kids) camped in June and lucked out with the weather. The campsite & washrooms were very clean. The staff were all super friendly and one even delivered our firewood to our site one night! But the best part of this was our interaction with the Metis presenters. We were treated to some traditional songs and dancing, beadwork, different fur pelts, and a traditional trapper cabin set up. We got to taste some delicious bannock with Saskatoon berry jam and red raspberry leaf tea. The presenters were all very engaging, with Pam in particular providing a wealth of information and local history knowledge it made it all come alive for us and our young children. She even shared her tips for making perfect bannock and helped us cook up a pan's worth at our site. Such a lovely, unique experience!

Interesting place. Great interpretative talks by the staff, but needs more of them. You definitely get a feel for the land and the influence of David Thompson. I would love to see the tails told from the 9 first nations side to.

Awesome camping aite for family trips.

Really cool place, would totally recommend going there again

I love it... nice place to visit ????

The staff were great.

We were a little disappointed when we got to the metis tent we thought it would have metis people we could talk to but it had a bunch of kids that mumbled and talked about always burning the bannock and how cold they were :(i don't think we'll ever go again

Amazing !! The history ... so well interpreted. Best kept secret out here! And not even 1 hour drive from Red Deer. And now you can even have a camping experience in a trapper cabin. The fresh-made bannock was a treat as well.

Nice place, very friendly staff and an amazing 3D virtual reality

Great educational stop. The blacksmiths very great to watch and very interactive with their audience.

Was a great learning experience! The black smithing was by far the best I have seen to date!

I went here for camping this year and it was wonderful. The had lots of things to explore and check out not too mention the extremely nice and helpful parks Canada staff.

Very cool historic site with a lot of interactive and kid-friendly exhibits. Staff were welcoming and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed our brief visit and wished for a whole day there.

A big park with a great walking trail and interaction points. Also have nit camped there but with tee pees and canvas tents it looks like it could be alot if fun with kids.

Great weekend for the Fur Trade Christmas

Great place to visit, the people working there make the place wonderful. They even got me playing spoons while they played fiddle and danced, so memorable!

Loved learning about the history of the area from the interpretive centre and the hikes. When we were there, there were Métis interpreters who explained and showed to us several artifacts and even cooked us some bannock. It was a privilege to be able to learn more about Métis history and culture from them.

Quite a bit off the beaten track but worth it if you're into aboriginal history. There is a mini museum, a fort, and an exhibit of Métis accommodations. Workers also dress up in outfits and teach old school candle making, and bannock baking.

Lovely people and a great way to spend a day. Beautiful site and well kept. A lot of Canadian history.

The admissions is not expensive. A big place with some shows and talks. Recommended for family.

Excellent presentation of the local history

It is nice out here the trails are nice clean and a good place for a picnic

Important point in alberta history. First trading post, on my saskatchewan river; established by...david thompson...on behalf of ...hudson bay company, london, england. I think, the trading post is older than the city of calgary. It is not in the rockies, but a close base for david thompson to push exploration , west into the mountains...! The blackfoot indians decided ...who, traded at the rocky fort....skermishes, small battles were inevitable; the Clark expedition up the mississipi river, from the south , now the usa, was also involved. That brings us back to the blackfoot, as, they did not want interference of dominance of the area by the southerners.

This is a great historical experience. The blacksmith apprentice was welcoming, he shared his knowledge, his love for his craft and his appreciation for the skills he has yet to learn. The paths were accessible for my disabled mother and she had a blast off-roading with her power wheelchair. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable in the information center and museum. We look forward to another visit in the future.

Great historic site, with camping onsite!

We were there for Canada Day. Lots of entertainment to augment the various interpretive exhibits. Excellent insights into the Fur Trade and Metis Culture. Well worth a visit.

A piece of our heritage

The Fur Trade Christmas was a great event at the park. Lots of activities for everyone. The museum itself is great. It gives the history of this area and the fur trade in general. Great resource for Alberta.

Nice place for a family outing. Nice walking trail along the river. Nice alberta history.

Stunning experience of nature! I was too busy enjoying it to take a picture.

Great staff, so informative. Staff also helped guide us on our travels through the province. Loved sleeping in the teepee, it is colder than a tent so come prepared

I was truly impressed with the people in the area from live Black Smiting demonstrations to Matie dancing. The people were really amazing and added a great deal to the experience. Covid has changed a few things but still fully enjoyable and well worth the trip. Access with the park pass was a great surprise. My 6 year old learned a good deal from a puppet show and the museum was well layed out to maintain social distancing

We stayed in a tipi during our visit and the entire campground was meticulously well kept, particularly the bathroom facilities. Shout out to the staff who were lovely as well.

Great stop. Inexpensive, fun, educational.

Was really fun and well maintained. I enjoyed the view along the trails and the many historical features. Alot of the main attractions are aimed towards children.

Great experience

(Translated) Very interesting campsite thanks to the abundant animation which reigns there. All staff are affable and kind. Amazing place. Very quiet and beautiful. The staff was very helpful.

Great place to learn about aboriginal history of Canada! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will be back soon.

(Translated) Have a sense of history! The scenery is beautiful! (Original) 有历史感!风景漂亮!

Great little piece of Canadian history..

Well put tog area with displays and ppl showing their craft. Nicely spread out and along the river. Beautiful spot. The puppet play was informative but pretty dated puppets. They could make it more fun and more interactive. Seating benches need some work. Worth a visit on a down day.

Great place to visit and learn about history. A lot of neat things to look at. Nice walking trails. Interesting and fun for the whole family.

Great historic site with lots of cool camping options including sleeping in teepees, trapper cabins, and log cabins. My kids loved the virtual reality tour in the visitor centre.

A simple walk through some of the fort sites and an interpretive center.

Interesting place to stop by. Full of history but there is not a lot to see around here if you're looking for old buildings or ruins. Nice grounds and views of the river. Good place to walk around if you're in the area.

The grounds are well kept. Enjoyed the signage along the trail explaining the First Nation People's use of the various plants. There are no forts left - just marks on the ground to show where they were. Informative displays. The children's play fort looked like fun. We had wanted to take part in some of the programs. I had phoned several times ahead of our visit. Only got voicemail. Left a message but noone called back. We couldn't arrange anything when we arrived. So that was extremely disappointing for us.

Wonderful location, people, shows and event.

Quite a lovely place to go camping and learn and appreciate a lot about Canadian history, and heritage. If you get the opportunity, stay in either the Teepee or Trapper's tent; Your little ones are going to love it. Tip: Watch out for the wasps. There's plenty of them to try to steal your food ;)

Informative, nice walking trails

Awesome place for kids to learn about Canadian history and early trade. Lots of interactive activities and staff are friendly too. A few visitors besides us so no crowds!

I hated it i almost started crying there because there was a skinned fox wolf and bunny and so much more cute animals and they Made me carry the fox ????????????????????????????????????????????????

Educational and enjoyable. Bring the whole family and enjoy.

Informative and thorough; I was impressed and look forward to further additions.

Great place and you can't beat the price. Worth a visit.

Great place to spend the afternoon. Nice walking traile.

Due to COVID-19 the Fort is not open; however, the price is still the same. The interpretive centre is excellent with very interesting artifacts and stories. The gift store has very nice hand made local merchandise. There is a very nice 3.2 kms trail along the river and back. Also, there is a bison herd.

Nice historical place.

Wow

It was very informative. The staff really knew their details about the history. It was also very peaceful and quiet.

Great interpretive centre. Lots to learn about. We really enjoyed learning from the young people about the Metis traditions and about the different furs. The kids loved everything!

Awesome time for your friends and family historically beautiful

The historic site is awesome. There is a really informative an interactive museum and then huge grounds to explore. Lots of fun for people of all ages.

Family escaoe .easy access

Very open and staff were friendly. Being origanilly from Canmore, it was nice to explore trails without all the people

Drove thru in june nothing too see but camp ground. Not handicap friendly

Lots of history shared! Great stop!

A slice of history. Nice easy trails and lots of picnic space. Playground is closed now but looks like a great place for kids of all ages.

I come here twice a year to think walk eat and visit my friends and family

It is a good place to learn history in a interactive way. The VR tour at the visitor center is fantastic!

So disappointed because they overcharged me by $15.00 and theres no exciting that you can see inside.. no views nothing

Staff friendly and knowledgeable, fascinating history of area and the fur trade. Facilities for camping and RV looked good. Even saw some bison!

Wonderfully informative. Great for adults and kids. British friends loved it!

Beautiful country

This place is great. They had a puppet show and real people in traditional wear, giving you historical info. My only gripe is that it is kind of spread out and empty but all in all my family learned so much from this place. Worth a visit!

Such a beautiful and educational spot! We especially enjoyed watching the blacksmith work. Our boys were engaged and equally as delighted when they received their very own freshly forged nail from the blacksmith. We also took in a live beading demonstration by a Parks Canada staff member. So interesting! Our boys received an activity booklet to fill out from the friendly staff at the visitor centre. Once we finished meandering around the site, they brought their completed booklets back to the visitor center and were gifted a souvenir and completion certificate. We had two very happy little kids!

An important historical place. Polite staff. Wish we had stayed longer.

Outstanding find! Excellent staff made for a very interactive experience, from high-tech VR to camp-fire pemican. Our kids loved the fort to play in.

Stunning evidence of our historical past.

Awesome park
