I have now been personally boycotting this airline for 9 years. Even if they are 200$ cheaper, I will opt for another airline.
I had to fly home last minute in 2010 when my mother passed away. As I am walking to my flight, a woman with air Canada runs up to me and asks if I am flying to Edmonton and I say yes. She then tells me come with her to the desk as I have missed my flight..I try telling her, no..my boarding pass says 3pm..
An hour away... but she will not listen and keeps telling me I missed my flight. So I am crying at this point and I tell the desk agent that I cannot miss my moms funeral..and he says " we hear this stuff all the time, who knows what is true"... he then tells me after looking at my boarding pass and typing into the computer that I have not missed my flight, but that I will if I do not run, as by this point it is boarding.
They treated me so poorly at such a tragic time in my life that it has stuck with me and I will avoid flying with them.
It is shocking that they would accuse someone of lying about such a horrible event... I know they must deal with alot of people...but they should act civil and keep horrible thoughts like that to themselves. Show a little compassion.
