REVIEWS OF Centennial Park - Cedar Bay Beach IN Port Colborne

Aly

We visit this beach and park at least twice a year. It is wonderful for younger children due to it not being busy, having shelter, shade, park and washrooms. Worth the drive to spend the day.

Naveed A Sheikh

Very nice beach with beautiful play area for kids with bbq facility

James Marshall Bervell

Just ok

Thomas Sherk

Very clean and tidy park for the most part. Good place to go with the family or walk a dog. Not a whole lot of beach space but not usually many ppl swimming anyway

Terry Proveau

It's a nice park with a fair amount of free parking across the road. Washrooms are adequate. The beach sand was hot and nice however there was more algae than I like to see. You have to wade through several feet of algae to get to clearer water.

Christine Byker

Beach is not my favourite and unless you live in Port Colborne you will pay $35 for parking. Not very big either much rather go to Bay Beach!!

Nazir Mohammed

The water smells, the sand in the water feels like slime, the beach sand okay, parking free. Washroom ????????????????‍♂️????‍♂️. Not going there again.

Arina White

There is free parking with plenty of spots. Beach is clean, but entrance to water is terrible: pretty rough stones, very painful when you trying to go in and out. Also bottom is mushy, feel disgustingly

Pat Dutrisac

Beautiful part of Port Colborne

Zee Jeremic

Nice beach!

Robin Fish

Overall beach was nice. Reasonable parking and nice playground. On the day I was there water quality could have been better but all beaches have this issue.

Markus Altiparmakyan

A very nice beach for family and friends.

Bartosz Derbis

$35 / day for parking from $0 last year for Niagara Residents. Money grab. My Regional Taxes should not go to this place (water sampling etc). If I go for 2 hrs that's more expensive than parking in the nicest Florida beaches. This place is not that nice...

raul dudnic

Until last year, parking free, now $25-35 for Niagara area residents? Disgusting.

Mark D.

Park and Sports field look good. Beach is small with most of it private.

Winston Sharpe

Perfect place for small gatherings and the beach is 2 minute walk from the centre of the park

Tony Huisman

Good beach, it was not very busy which is nice. A lot of algae though, lol we had to shower it all off when we got back to the hotel

Sleepings

$35 parking for the beach. No other parking in the area, avoid this place, even as a resident you are not allowed to park without paying $35, tax not included.

Braydon Dayz

Great beach clean park area

Jenn T.

Nice beach area with park and shelter. No lifeguards, but the water is shallow enough children to play

Frederica Weale

Its clean and has quite a long beach area to walk on. Unfortunately the water is not clean and has a sign stating that you should not swim in it.

Karen

Free parking, clean bathrooms, potentially a great beach. However, beach had many rotting fish carcases due to rain and water rising, which caused a stench in the air. Water was also very murky and full of algae. We left and went to beach 10 minutes away where the beach front and water were clean.

Juan Andres Fernandez

Lots of fun. Just be sure to bring some sort of bug repellent because they will eat you up

Besmir Zanaj

The awful smell of sewers is everywhere. Could not swim at all because of constructions dumps

Madelyn Reilly

Super lovely lake park and beautiful spot for BBQ picnic or beach day. Everyone spread out and social distanced from eachother. Unfortunately some of the local residents were very rude to us and some other beachgoers who didn't see the signs saying the top of the beach was "attached" to their private properties (even going so far as to throw a families belongings ten feet down the beach). A little disappointing especially around Canada Day time of year so something to be aware of if you visit. Remember everyone: we're all on stolen indigenous land, leave no trace & be KIND to one another !

Lana Turner

A lovely park with green space, pavillion, picnic tables, bathrooms, a few benches overlooking the lake, and a sandy beach. One negative aspect is the seaweed that rolls in and stays, because the beach is in a bay and the seaweed gets trapped. Maybe the region will decide to remove it when it rolls in. That would be nice since a free beach with parking is hard to find.

Eduard Gheorghiu

Nice, cozy little place. Free parking, public restrooms

Silvia Jacome

Nice place for families

John Lakeroad

This is such a cute place. The beach is sandy, and the shoreline mostly free from large stone. There are small stones and pebbles on most of the edge of the water and maybe 15 feet into the water. I love swimming and playing fetch with Grace, and the stones present an minor deterrent. But if you wander down aways, you can find areas that are mostly soft on both of our feet. Safe parking including some shade.. And be careful NOT to be on someone's private property. You wouldn't want anyone strolling around on yours.

Ian Hoag

Lots of people. Small beach. Water is really Rocky. You should bring water shoes.

mohsen akhoundi

It is only for local people, we had 2 hours drive from Toronto but unfortunately we couldn't use the beach are

Nikki Nelo

Great small beach good park shade and sun spots always available

Trady Garzon

Amazing place Nice Beach

Mike Collins

It's a nice beach to walk around, there is usually a lot of seaweed though - might want to pass if you plan on swimming.

Bobbi Dogra

Great space lots of parking, not too crowded and very clean beach.

Vitaliy Latanskiy

We were looking for beach not far from Toronto and decided to pay a visit to this beach due to the large number of excellent reviews. Surprisingly the park was very nice with decent washroom facility and large FREE parking which was a huge …

Shari Harper

Everything a family would need to enjoy a fun filled summer day; beach, shady grass area and washrooms. Free large parking lot across the street makes it easy.

J.E. S.

First time at Centennial Park. The Park itself was very clean and well maintained. It has a good parking area. It also have a bbq area with picnic tables. The beach was OK though, I think it was not good due to the rain of precious days. I will definitely came back with my family. My son enjoyed running and playing at the beach

Aneesa Sayeed

Nice place..not too busy. Very rocky wear swim shoes.

Michelle Gingras

The water was clean as was the beach. Its a perfwct place to spend a hot afternoon

Marilyn Hu-Wright

Quiet and able to maintain the social distancing while enjoying the outdoors. Just to be aware that lots of poky little rocks on the shore.

Marissa T

Great space. Lots of shady and sunny areas. Water was clear with a little bit of seaweed which is fine. There were alot of rocks though walking in and our of the water. Other than that, It is an lovely beach

Ernesto l Zambrano

The Beach was OK , but there was not signs about water contamination levels and the beach is unsupervised meaning, no lifeguards supervising the safety of the beach, so we didn't go into the water : (

RailfanWill

The beach is very small and has private property on either side, it's a little bit rocky when when you get into the water. A very quiet beach, if you want to get away from crowds

FFTW Development

Great smaller beach compared to that of Nickel Beach as we couldn't get in there. Sand is great and the water was nice and warm. Just beware of the rocks before entering as they can be painful! No alcohol allowed on beach.

Deb Wright

It is a small beach but I enjoyed it ????

David Hopwood

$25 for parking is way too steep especially if you live in Niagara Region as we do. I am not against higher charges to deter visitors from the GTA. However the beach is nice and quiet.

mynameisadam665

Drove thirty minutes to visit the beach after checking extensively for online listings to ensure that it was open like all other surrounding beaches. Arrived to the equivalent of a border checkpoint for residents only. They even wanted ID.

Philip Lee

Nice quiet beach and access to free parking. Short walk through a wooded area perfect for picnics and BBQ. Water is a bit rough and the swallow end is filled with rocks. Wet shoes are recommended.

Nicole McCoy

We call this beach Cedar Bay. It has ample parking across from the beach(with a playground, tennis courts, baseball diamond). The beach itself is sandy but does have many rocks. Same in the water. I would recommend water socks!! It has been years since I went there.

Dawn Milne

Love this beach. Perfect size with washroom.

Pat Cooper

Wonderful beach with ample parking, sand, shade, washrooms, playground and horse shows some Sundays throughout show season

Cpukare cpukare

There is a black water At the edge of the water and stink can't use the beach

Heather A

A nice quiet beach. Great for a Family picnic. The lake had lots of seaweed this past weekend, with some odors. But still awsome!

Taylor D'hondt

Great little park but expensive to park if you're not a resident of port Colborne it's $50 for non residents of Niagara region $35 if your a resident of Niagara region and free if your from port Colborne

Devika Hemraj

It was nice that parking was free. The water was mucky and dirty and stinky. The worst part was the washrooms. The staff did not clean them. The toilets were blocked and people were actually urinating and having bowl movement on the ground in the ladies washrooms. This was very disturbing and disgusting. Even after telling the park rangers about the issues. Nothing was done.

Ken T.

Pretty awesome, nice beach, but a bit smaller than it actually looks due to private beaches next to it.

Steve Watt

Overall a nice beach. There are lots of stones getting into the water, but after that it turns to sand. I have gone a couple of times and have never had an issue with parking

Kathy Y.

Nice public free beach, washrooms, place to barbeque. One of the nicer free beaches

Davidblaine Pearle

Best beach around,no crowds, no parties, washrooms, pavillion, bbq, parking,an of course a beautfull beach

Jim Vanderhoek

Nice beach. Passable washrooms. Pavilion. Tennis court. Tree covered sand dunes, Grassy field. Great for a picnic or swim.

jake acaster

A little rocky and seaweed, but nice of you don't like the crowds at the beach

B Brown

$35 for parking. Was only there for an hour. Cash grab!!! And the little peace of beach was over crowded. So I paid 35 bucks to walk around a crowded little beach. Ended up sitting on a bench for 20 minutes, then left. Never again.

Hugh-Linda Buchanan

Drove down to this beach for a picnic today with my wife and 97 year old mother, there were only 4 cars in the parking lot but since we were not residents of Port Colborne (We live in Fort Erie) we were turned away, Could not believe it! I could understand if this was during the lockdown but not now. I have never heard of a public beach for residents only. I was informed by the 2 women who were enforcing the ban that local residents wanted to limit visitors to locals to keep the noise level and party goers away. Ended up going to Lakeview Park near Sugar Loaf Marina. No charge for Parking and out of towners welcome.

Karen K

Too much seaweed... lake weed and a few dead fish on the beach

Judith S

My husband and I drive around for miles trying to find another public beach in lieu of crystal beach which is where we are staying at a very nice house however the beach, not so much! We went to a line of “public beaches” none of which had a nice welcoming atmosphere, parking nor bathrooms until what I call a guardian angel in a golf cart came up somewhere around Pleasant Beach and told us about the beach no one knew about after hearing we were from America and what we were looking for. We were so very thankful to find this little gem! Tons of parking, clean bathrooms, nice atmosphere and nice people! We enjoyed our afternoon and couldn’t have been happier!

Uta Haley

We were there on the July 1st weekend and everything looked clean! Enjoyed the beach and the water.

Angie Davis

Gorgeous small sandy beach. Perfect for locals.

CS L

Disappointed. Drove here as we were looking for a nearby beach where we are staying for the long weekend. We were turn down as it is for locals only. It would be nice if there was a sign or notice that it’s exclusive to local residence only. There were only 3 cars in the parking lot, and it’s just 3 of us who would like to see the beach.

SANTI 9689

Drove there for more than one hour from my place. We arrived and where asked if we lived close by. We said no, so they wanted us to pay $ 35 for parking. If you are local, is a different story so I guess they don't want visitors. took off immediately.
