Best ice cream in Peterborough! Super huge ice cream cones for such a good price! And the waffle cones are fresh and yummy. There are a ton of flavours of ice cream and they offer milkshakes too. Ice cream sold by the tub is a great price and usually cheaper than at the grocery store. They also sell a lot of baked goods like homemade butter tarts. The drive-thru is such a great feature, especially when you want ice cream in the winter but it's too cold to get out of the car! (Yes, I crave ice cream all year round) The only suggestions I have are to get more outdoor seating (the picnic tables fill up fast in nice weather), more comfortable seating inside (the wire chairs are super hard and the bar height chairs are too high for kids and the elderly) and to stay open until 10 or 11pm in the summer. Otherwise, Kawartha Dairy is one of the hidden gems of Peterborough!

The drive-thru is amazing! I’ve never purchased eggs via a drive-thru! We got super creamy ice cream, chocolate milk & eggs thru their drive-thru window on a Saturday evening before heading back to Toronto. The service at the drive-thru was quick & efficient. My partner got a single sized black raspberry in a waffle cone - and boy was it HUGE. He was pleasantly surprised (and happy he didn’t get a double). I just got a single pralines & cream. The pralines were plenty and the ice cream was yummy ???? Very good value for the money. I wish I lived closer, I’d visit often. I’d definitely recommend Kawartha Dairy, Peterborough.

Yummy ice cream made with real diary. Lots of selection. Careful, scoops are big! 1 scoop is more then enough for me. Can be really busy on summer days. They have a drive thru!

The best place to have ice cream. Pistachio almond and rum and raisins are worth trying. Sorbets are also worth trying. The large will have atleast 6scoops so check before ordering. If you want one scoop better go for baby size.

Best ice cream and dairy hands down. Hell, before we lived out this way we'd drive in from Durham to get our hands on Kawartha Dairy... now the trek is quicker! Have used the drive through for everything from comes to picking up a 1/2 litre of whipping cream - and everything is fresh, delicious and in stock. Super helpful staff, amazing product.

Terrific products... Very slow service unfortunately. We know that the ice cream and milk shakes are scooped/made by hand and that isn't a terribly fast process... but we would visit much more often if we didn't have to wait 30 minutes for a couple milk shakes.

It toke for ever to get our order got there at 6:30 pm we where served at 7:00 pm There was 4 people in front of us the drive through was supper fast 5 servere at the drive through window 1 at the walk the side window where you walk to I'll never go there again

I always look for a Kawartha dairy when I am in the region since their selection of flavors is amazing. They were following covid guidelines by only having drive thru and a take out window open. Service was very slow at the window whole drive thru was moving along quickly which was unfortunate for those standing in line and not wasting gas idling

No words to explain this place. Established in 1937, Kawartha Dairy is maintaining the legacy. It is one of a kind place with amazing ice cream and milk shake. Great variety at reasonable prices. The ambience is wonderful. You can either sit inside or choose patio(summer). There is a drive through as well. Service is quick. Staff is polite. You can also buy their merchandise namely coffee mugs. They also sell pickels, marmalade, cakes, pasteries, etc. A must visit place if you are in Peterborough. My favourite milk shake flavor is Muskoka Mocha. Try it if you visit this place. Thanks.

My favourite pit-stop on route to the cottage and on the way home. We always get the “small” and pick two flavours. Still a big fan of moose tracks and mint chip, but have also been loving the pistachio when it is in stock. Their seasonal limited edition flavours are always fun to try. The staff is very welcoming and they always provide generous scoops! Service is speedy even when it looks like the lineup is long. My dog is also a fan of the fruit/cream (don’t worry, no chocolate for her).

We went to get ice cream - my husband order a large and they brought it to him half in a cup and half on a tiny little cone, needless to say it fell all over the place and he didn't get to eat it, for the price of it that should not have happened. Mine was ok but the experience was ruined because of the way his was handled. Quite disappointed really. My hubby was pretty ticked off. Wish it had been better considering how good the ice cream is supposed to be. That was our first and likely last experience with them. It's a shame really. :(

The best milkshake I've had in recent memory. They use whole and real products. You can select the ice cream flavour and to use chocolate or white milk as the base. I had the salty caramel and chocolate milk and it was absolutely amazing. The bathrooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were quick, attentive, and helpful. There are many other products to purchase for eating or cooking.

Lots of great options, from the classics to their own unique flavours. I think one of my orders may have been mistaken for another flavour but we were there at quite a busy time in the early evening so it was an understandable mix up. The ice cream was delicious nonetheless!

All their products are excellent, top quality and obviously local. However, the ice cream is next level. This is some of the best ice cream ever produced. Furthermore, their Bordeaux Cherry ice cream is ambrosia to the gods. This is the definitive cherry ice cream. Above all others this is the best cherry ice cream ever made.

It's always a pleasure to visit Kawartha dairy. However this location while convenient with a drive through doesn't have much place to sit and enjoy a ice cream. There are a few more picnic tables that. Last year but when you are sitting between the parking lot and the drive through its not ideal. Regardless the staff and fare are always spectacular. Would be 5 stars if the location was better.

My daughter was stranded on the highway as she ran out of gas. I was putting gas in her car when a Kawartha Dairy truck flew past. The driver honked, waved his hands as if he was disgusted and yelled at me while giving me a dirty or angry look. That’s just what I needed in this stressful situation. That’s poor advertising for Kawartha Dairy. At least he didn’t give me the finger.

Ever get that call "can you grab some milk on the way home, or can you grab some sour cream for taco night"? Just don't feel like walking through the whole store. Head for Kawartha Dairy. Friendly service and good quality ice. Occasionally a bit of a line up at the drive through but still beats having to go into a store and standing in a line up. Give yourself a treat with their great milkshakes.

First thing I would like to comment, is how much I love their ice cream & 18% cream. The staff here are doing an incredible job during covid 19. I have read some of the comments below on how slow they are, but in reality I don't think they understand all the extra steps that have to be taken during a pandemic. Excellent customer service! I'm a life long Kawartha Dairy ice cream lover but I was very disappointed with you on Wednesday, June 16. I live in Uxbridge and usually get my KD there but I was in Peterborough and thought all your stores would be the same. My wife and I got our usual Baby regular cones, as they are normally more than enough but the cones we got this time were half the normal size and definitely not worth the $4.00 you are now asking for them. Very disappointed life long KD lovers!!

Its located right next to the dairy Queen, but this is the place to go for your ice cream fix. It might not have the variety of toppings of its competitors, but it makes up for it by having unique flavours and a very natural tasting ice cream. We had the blue buried treasure which blew me away.

Went through drive thru and they were so patient with our order. We didn't know what we wanted and took a while to choose. When we got to window, we were taking pics of ice cream and the lady politely asked not to be in them. If you're reading this...we are so sorry! We were just excited to post on social media to let everyone know to come try it out! We dropped into town from the cottage and this was our first time into Peterborough.

Very pleasant staff who keep the line moving. Yes, people line up for this ice cream, and once you try it, you will too! Have a craving for the perfect summer ice cream experience? You will not be disappointed coming here! Also, you will find a surprising assortment of locally home made goodies Iike a wonderful assortment of jams, jellies and spreads, and various other true North treats! If I could rate this ice cream parlour on service and quality, the service would receive a zero and the ice-cream would receive a five. The ice cream is delicious and at a good price. The unfortunate reality of this location is the staff's customer service abilities. I have been on multiple occasions an hour or so before close and the chairs are all lined up to close off the tables so it is implied that no one should sit there. I have never been able to experience the hot fudge that is apparently available, as the machine is always "turned off for the night". One time I went they told me to throw out my garbage before I left, while I was eating .. which I thought was implied, but found her tone very rude and unfriendly. I feel very unwelcome when I go into this public place and feel as though I should not be there and am doing something wrong. They never greet you upon entrance and seem annoyed that you want to keep them in business by being a customer at this location. I have also found that the portions that customers receive are very uneven and sometimes half the cup. Again the ice cream is great and we love to support local joints, but something needs to be done about the customer service at this location.

The ice cream is good. But not sure it's worth the wait. The drive thru estimated at least a half hour wait and the walk up line took almost an hour. Why? Furthermore, an ignorant woman clumsly opens her door of the vehicle hitting my vehicle after me taking the precaution and parking a distance away from other parking spaces. She thinks nothing of it and walks off with an attitude. What kind of careless world are we left in?

You're not going to find hard ice cream better than this. They also have a great selection of preserves, honey, maple syrup, and other dairy products. Staff are very friendly and the seating area is nice as well. The drive through service is also a nice touch.

We tried Kawartha Dairy for the first time and loved it! We went though the walk up window to place our order. The lady helping us was friendly and helped us in selecting a flavour. We tried 5 different flavours and they all tasted amazing. Great quality ice cream and good price for sure. Can't wait to come back!!
