Sharon Pozner has been translating a box of Yiddish letters belonging to my Mother and Grandmother that were written in the 1930-70’s, since April, 2021. Despite the old paper and faded writing, Sharon diligently and professionally works through it and is able to send me an excellent translation of each and every letter in an organized fashion. She also tries very hard to understand the family relationships and context of the letters by asking me questions that will help us both understand better. Though this may be a business, helping people with translations is her passion and her heart is always with the people who wrote the letters as well as her clients. I highly recommend Sharon to anyone who needs help in this area. I am so grateful to her for finally getting me started in this process which I have wanted to embark on for many years. Through these translations, I even found out that my grandmother had a surviving brother and I hope to try to find descendants. Sharon truly helps connect people to their past.

Sharon Pozner has translated numerous Yiddish texts related to my genealogical research since October 2020. She has tackled some pretty difficult Yiddish handwriting ("scrawl" is a more accurate term) on the back of postcards and on stationery and has been incredibly successful in her efforts to extract the meaning of these texts. Sharon has shown incredible persistence in her work, often returning to a document several times in an attempt to extract and refine the proper translation for every word and phrase. She has done so in a collaborative process with me as client. Several times I have suggested names and historical context for the particular texts, which she has used in deciphering the handwriting. She is open to suggestions on how a name or word may be spelled in English, which has helped her confirm the exact Yiddish letters or words. In one recent case, her translation of an early 1900s letter written by my wife's great-grandfather to a recent immigrant, offering him employment in his growing Syracuse NY woodworking business, led me to a chance meeting with the immigrant's grandson, who did not know about the correspondence. For professional, cost-effective translating, I highly recommend Sharon for any Yiddish translations, especially for handwritten text that can be challenging at best to decipher.
