The latern tour was very poorly done this year. In the past there were actors and skits plus a beautiful meal. This year the Narrator was lovely but all she did was read from a book. Nothing was told about the building or it's history. When we came in from the cold there was just Costco pie and a few desserts. Such a disappointment from previous years.

Fun place to take the kids. They usually have scavenger hunts if varying difficulties, with prizes for kids who complete.

Awesome!!!!

Lovely for a small western city.

No food or drinks allowed! Buy your icecream afterwards. Although it's wheelchair accessible, it's a bit bumpy and awkward. Best of all it's free.

What a great place to visit with the family and its free.

Fun museum, outside village is cool, free admission, kids willlike the outside part the most

Heritage Day was amazing!

Nice museum to spend half hour or so. It would be nice if they had events or change things around once in a while.

Great little museum. Love how the city has made it free, and it seems to have changed sense last time I was there. Majority of the items have been donated from local's. Making it really about the town and it people.

Although the museum is small, it still presents some rich history of Grande Prairie.

Great for kids to explore heritage. Great staff always welcoming...

Lovely local museum with a great pioneer village. Great way to kill an afternoon if you want to know more about the region.

Loved it!

This is a great place to go to see some of the history of the area. In the summer when we go, they have quite the fun things for the family to do. If you have a chance check it out. While you are here in the summer don’t forget to take in mini golf across the way and get an ice cream. Always a treat.

I've never been, which is unfortunate. We were blown away. We took our 16 month old son, and spent over two hours doing the indoor and outdoor scavenger hunts. Was actually a lot of fun! The amount of local history is incredible, even not being from here I left feeling a sense of pride. Highly recommend to anyone who lives in the area.

I, personally, have always loved this museum. It really houses a great variety of artifacts that offer the visitors a sense of what early life in the Peace country was like. For instance, Isabel Campbell's little house...ask how and why her father actually chose Grande Prairie for his little family, how Isabel grew up in the Peace Country, what needs she saw existed and what she later on decided to do about those needs. Not only is her home sitting on the Museum grounds but she, at the end of her long life, and in addition to the home, willed many of her possessions to the Museum. I really could go on and on but, I will not, ... this time. Rather, I urge everyone to keep in mind that it really is a treat to go and spend a number of hours in this particular Museum. Enjoy!

Wonderful place to take kids, they loved learning about everything and doing the scavenger hunts and treasures at the end.

We loved it and stayed there for 3 hours. The kids had so much fun and it was free!

Awesome place to visit very good set up with lots of details in the displays

Great place to take the family and see dinosaur bones and antique items in Pioneer village.

Cool spot to spend the afternoon. Lots of history to see with interesting photos and artifacts.

What a wonderful display of historical artifacts to sweep your mind off into a world of the lives of pioneers and homesteaders and how they shaped history for generations to follow. Very well constructed little "town" reminiscent of British Columbia's gold mining town of Barkerville.

Interesting artifacts from a much simpler time. Neat AF

Lovin the old snow mobiles. Always a fun learning experience for young and old alike

One of my daughters favourite places to visit. Loves the scavenger hunt and all the cool "old stuff"

Awesome experience.

Did not go in.

If you visit Grande Prairie, you must go to the Museum & Heritage Village.

Great outdoor replicas bygone era in buildings and very interesting indoor displays. Both inside and outside are rich with history and information!

Our family loves the treasure hunts they give to kids. Great museum and free!

Wonderful little museum. Lots of local and Alberta information. Some great artifacts and buildings.

Nice introduction to this region. Some really interesting stuff on display. The flint and stone tool collection is fascinating!

Very usefull and helpful...^^

They gave me a free mask when entering, and the grass was green

Great exhibits, beautiful old buildings and equipment.

It's free and friendly to customers

Have fun things to engage in like the scavenger hunt

I absolutely love the museum it's a great place to bring the kids turn to learn about local history the people at the south peace Regional archive a very helpful and very nice

Firstly, the Google direction to the place was wrong. But, we got to the place alright and there is a short walk to the quiet museum. Loved the taxidermy animal displays and especially the dinosaur fossil. I totally didn't expect it. The models created of coffee shops, cabins etc were informative and some were also fascinating because they're interactive. The Heritage Village is also fun to walk around and see with friends or family.

Excellent way to spend some time. It's always free. There's a lot to see. The village is really nice.

Great place, lots to see and do. Friendly staff. Entry is by donation, get out and support them.

Authentic history of the region. Great experience to spend the day with family. One of the few areas that doesn't cost.

Cool indoor museum but the best part was the small old buildings

Excellent service and very neat.

Great museum!

It was such an amazing, awesome and educational experience I got.

Very cool, definitely check this out.

It was a great therevlots of photos

Lots of local history, well laid out. Friendly staff - free admission! The kids loved exploring in the historical buildings on site.

Excellent!

More than you would expext for a small local museum. Very informative staff and lots to see.

Easily the best part of Grande Prairie. Large museum for a small urban centre, and very comprehensive with plenty of exhibits. Historical village is also very well done. Hours are extended relative to most museums, and all exhibits are free.

Small and charming museum teaching local history. It's free!

For the size of this little museum, I find it interesting every time I visit.

The Always a great place to bring kids

Been going here for over 30 years! Fondly remember school field trips when I was younger, now I get to take my own child here. The heritage village rivals Calgary’s Heritage Park in quality. Always great events that the whole family looks forward to.

A great way to waste an hour especially how it didn't cost anything the staff are very knowledgeable and the volunteers really love to be there

Great place to take the kids. Scavenger hunts of many levels. Replica of old houses, businesses and school. They also add sound effects in some of the buildings including the sound of chalk writing on the board in the school room....Comes across haunted ... But that's just me my kids didn't notice.

Well maintained. Exceptional displays and research. Delightful assortment of books in gift shop.

Great place to take the kids. Loved the scavenger hunt.

Great local heritage museum. Nice stroll along the creek as well and beautiful setting.

Such a quaint and charming museum, packed with artifacts and history

This is a fairly large Museum and it has some interesting material on Grand Prairie. They have an indoor exhibits section with good signage. A small section on dinosaur bones and minerals and ores in a large outdoor townscape exhibit. Most of the buildings were well restored with examples of conditions of the period. The most unique piece of equipment on display was mislabeled as a road grader there was actually a tool used to pick up the dirt and put it into a wagon. This is the only example of equivalent I've seen that it is an excellent condition. It is paired with an old wooden bottom dump wagon that would have been used on constructing the roads and do Grand Prairie. Picking up the dirt the road grader has put into row and putting it into a wagon had to be something commonly done in the past but this is the only surviving example of the piece of equipment that would do it that I have seen. When they correctly label it I think it's the gym of their Museum. They have an outdoor shed with older equipment you can look at it as well and everything is well capped in most of the exhibits meticulously restored. This museum is worth your time if you're not too big a hurry.

Well done museum in the heart of GP laying out the human history/settlement of the region. Would like to see more interactive exhibits for the kids. But you can't beat the price.

Nice way to spend and afternoon and it’s free.

This is not a Place I always think of going because I feel like I've seen it all. That being said. The last time I went which was a couple of weeks ago, the admin staff handed me a treasure hunt to do with my kids. That was a lot of fun and I appreciated the experience a whole lot more because of it! Worth checking it out whether you do the treasure hunt or not.

Always fun for the kids

Very good, friendly host and very good protocol for covid-19 love it enjoyed it!!!!

It is a very cute spot. Certainly not an award winning museum, but a great little place to visit.

Awesome displays , very informative

Great museum and park for kids

Awesome gallery of history. Vehicles, toys, archeological displays, military, train, animals and birds, and more. We loved the heritage village. The displays are awesome. Great place to spend the day! Family friendly, great staff and a scavenger hunt!

Was surprised at how much was in the museum. A pleasant surprise was seeing our father's army uniform with a name tag. It was a nostalgia walk through time.

What a great experience
