It's one of the best places i've seen in Campbell River. Salmons, Bald eagles and if you are lucky enough black bears.

Sebastian Cline

Good free site to visit with short walks and lots of salmon in the river when they are releasing.

Johnny Tode

M Landers

Great opportunity to see a large scale hatchery.

Josh Fry

Neat place with lots of little salmon. Could use a better interpretive centre and more events.

Nice trails along the river. Can walk all the way to Quinsam River campground.

Really depends on the time of year whether or not there's something to see. Have been and saw thousands of fish and even a few bears. Have also gone and seen nothing but empty tanks and dry riverbeds. It is a nice drive out there and there's a tiny interpretive centre that will take you five minutes tops.

Beautiful walk along the stream. Quiet. Too bad closed.

Not interesting in mid-August. We didn't see any salmon in the river and the visitor center is dull.

Zac LaRocque-Walker

Had a great time here learning about salmon spawning and seeing a bit of how the hatchery works. Everyone in the area needs to check this out.

Jaco Krüger

Beautiful little trail, just good for an hour's walk. Lush and green with the Quondam river babbling beside. Mostly flat except for one staircase

Shaya Murphy

Was really cool to see all the salmon. Hopefully we will see a bear try and get them sometime ????

Wow. August through October salmon everywhere. Most afternoons if you hand around the hatchery fish gate you can see black bears feeding on salmon.

Would have been nice to have some staff there explain the process ...no one there that we could see.

This facility is close to public due to covid, but fish are still being made. The people who work here are masters of thier craft and are passionate about salmon enhancement programs.

Outside of a well done small exhibit room, nothing. Understanding that their purpose is not to entertain visitors, this operation is still a big disappointment. There are no explanatory signs, charts, diagrams or anything to give you a clue as to what or how the empty concrete pools or the machinery are used for. There is a long perforated metal walkway to a dam. There is obviously a great deal of water rushing through a channel under that walkway, but why? For what purpose? At the dam, again, zero information. We saw salmon downstream of the dam which had one gate open but no salmon getting through that we could see. So what was next? When? Very frustrating. People have reported seeing black bears sometime, somewhere there but that would be total luck if you did. The management of this hatchery has totally squandered the opportunity to help inform the public of the value of whatever they do there, however they do it. From the visitors standpoint, it is disappointing and a big waste of precious time.
