Pretty cool but only a replica of a replica and would be nice if more accessible.

Louise Power

Boat was totally enclosed in dry dock for repair.but we were allowed on board

Christel de Vries

Great experience, loved that we could actually go abord!

Rita Cherkewski

Enjoyed the ease with which they explained the story.

Mathieu Masquelier

A fake boat that can't navigate. The lower part (the hold of the boat) is closed. You have to use your cell phone light to be able to see the inside of the rooms...more less no explanations. The personal is tired and not motivated to help or inform you.

Harrison Pokrandt

Great info on the boat! Get to go on board and Wasnt too busy (september) guides where also there

Mathieu Taggart

Just for the boat visit, it is totally worth it!

Edward Power

Closed for season. Even gift shop closed. Hmmmm. So I found some nice old buildings with a cannon plus got some crab on the wharf.

Shannon Williams

Ship has been in dry dock for a long time so really didnt get to see the ship whole. Staff were very knowledgeable when you asked questions but if you didnt ask questions they weren't forthcoming. $7/person they should have been doing educational tours.

Wanda Arnett

Great to see a sailing ship from the past and able to walk on board to see first hand how the sailors living spaces would have been

Ali Baigy

Very cool replica of a 15th century ship sailed for the new world

The museum itself was small, except for a giant room containing the 1:1 scale replica of the Matthew. This was not the one that sailed over from Bristol in 1997. This replica is more historically accurate. Unfortunately, the museum is unsure if they will put the ship back on the water or permanently indoors. Until then, there is no access to see the hold.

Marco Ballarin

(Translated) Site historically important for Canada and especially Terranova to which the Canadians hold a lot. (Original) Sito storicamente importante per il Canada e soprattutto Terranova a cui i Canadesi tengono Molto.

Interesting museum about the ship, the Matthew, and the story leading up to the voyage. You can walk onto the ship & explore it too.

Elisabeth Duggan

A magnificent place to get a taste of history around John Cabot through the ship called the Matthew. The replica is kept indoor, so no matter the weather it is a nice to step onto it.

Andrew Rideout

It was amazing to see! Also, went on a boat tour, the sights were great our kids enjoyed seeing the puffins and whales. Would recommend for everyone.

Excellent a must see was really impressed

J. DiFederico-Rab

The website and brochure say there is a guided tour. I arrived, paid and went through the exhibit. No guided tour. Just some signs to read on your own. When I spoke to the woman at the desk, she said the information is outdated. Not sure why they didn't update their website. If I had know I was paying to read the same information I could read off Wikipedia, I wouldn't have gone.

Mike Wiseman

Amazing experience and very friendly staff members :)

Amanda Robichaud

Being able to climb aboard the ship was the best part

Danielle Best

Amazing

Shirley Watson

Loved the history, and the replica was built to exact measurements of the original. It was intetesting to see how the building was built to accommodate the mast and sails of the ship. Thoroughly enjoyed entering this replica of John Cabot's ship.

Ray Fisher

Philip V

One of the highlights of our trip was seeing The Mathew. They built an amazing replica for the 500th anniversary of its sailing into Bonavista, and the fact that the ship can still sail, and be lowered into the water again shows you how ingenious the design of the museum is. 'O bueno vista! '

Fran Smith

Jeffrey Dawson

Full sized tall ship that you can get onboard. Very cool.

(Translated) “Small and expensive” The museum is relatively small and the highlight is the replica of the ship with which Matteo Caboto discovered Newfoundland. The small exhibition is nicely structured but quite modest, especially if you compare it to the rather high price. The exhibits were seen in a very short time. We would probably give the museum next time.

Ross Penton

Great bit of history. Just not much to it.

CC W

A wonderful place to learn some history. The full-scale replica boat to explore is also amazing. Gift shop was nice too.

Eugene Papail

Great place to visit

Samantha Stables
