I had a few picky eaters even say that Their icecream was probably one of the best they’ve had! Lots of unique flavors to choose from, and what I really like about their icecream is that there are more refreshing flavors that aren’t overpoweringly sweet, but there are also the more sweeter flavors as well for those with a sweet tooth.

I think I ordered Breesie Messie or something similar...it’s a mixed flavor of dark chocolate and nuts I presume, sweet but not too sweet, with a little bit bitter aftertaste. You can tell from the texture and flavor that they used high quality cream/milk.

While we were travelling through we were recommended to stop at Cows by a local, and I can see why locals love it! Upon arriving the line was very long but it moved extremely quickly thanks to the amazing staff who handled each customer quickly but also was so patient and kind while everyone decided over flavours. The staff were so friendly, I really appreciated that! They also have a ton of cute and funny merch that you can browse while waiting in line so that makes it go by quickly. For such a busy place I was really impressed by how organized and clean everything was! They clearly take pride in that. The variety in flavours were amazing! There were a mix of cream based ice creams and water based fruity flavours. I got a scoop of the Cookie Monster (which has Oreo and cookie dough bits) and PEI strawberry (which was the fruity water based one - SO refreshing! It tasted just like a fresh strawberry). My partner got a blueberry maple one and really enjoyed it! Usually I am sure to take photos for my reviews but the ice cream was SO good I couldn’t be bothered to stop to take a photo! I did take a photo of a drink we picked up there, though. They offered a few interesting flavours of soda, we tried the raspberry cordial and it was AMAZING. It almost tastes like a Shirley temple but more fruity and refreshing. It’s a new favourite of mine & I will be sure to pick more up next time I am in Banff!

Honestly....I would eat ice cream everyday of my life if I could BUT this ice cream place did NOT impress me. They have really fun flavors but the flavors are not very tasty/flavorable...we got waffle cones and the cones were really hard to eat....honestly not worth the wait in line! Great selection! Very good, I personally recommend the Royal cownadain mint. My daughter loves the moonicorn. My wife was partial to the chunky chocolate mint. The waffle cones are yummy with different types of cones available. Either plain, chocolate dipped or dipped with sprinkles or nuts.

Ok, when you have a sign by the line bragging about how you were ranked the number one ice cream in the world, that sets pretty high expectations. I would give a four star if it wasn't for this, but by the time I got my ice cream I was pumped. I've had ice cream at several of the other places on their list of top 10 that they topped (Florence, Paris, New York, New Zealand, etc.), so when I saw that this was ranked better than all of them and they weren't afraid to show it off, the bar was set pretty high. This is very good quality ice cream and they have a huge selection, but it was overall a bit of a letdown. We actually went three times, mostly because I'm an ice cream addict, so between my wife and I we tried many flavors. I'd say the one must-have flavor is the Cownadian Maple.

Great ice cream. Shame there isn't indoor seating. Plenty of public seating outdoors, though. Service is VERY fast. The line (there always seems to be one) goes down quickly. They didn't have Nanaimo when we went, which is what I wanted to try. I don't think you can go wrong getting COWS ice cream. They also have chocolate covered crisps for sale and a cute gift shop.

I am from the east coast and have been to the original cows ice cream location, and the Banff location. However, today was different. I ordered a single scoop for myself and a kids cone for my son. She handed me the flavour of ice cream i ordered and i said oh sorry the other flavour was supposed to be the kids cone.. nope.. that was the single ????. Let me tell you, i should have taken a picture.. the ice cream didn’t even come above the cone at all.. from the first “lick” of ice cream i had to bite into the cone.. literally thought it was a joke.. my sons come looked the exact same as mine. Anyways.. not sure if they are ALWAYS that stingy now... if i would have known that’s what i was getting i would have gotten a double. Usually any ice cream location i always find one scoop to be MORE than enough.. this was a joke.. actually. Anywyas, did it still taste good, sure.. would i ever pay for a single again.. absolutely not.

Got a single scoop of bubble gum. Employees were quick and friendly. Quality of ice cream was very good, and scoop was pretty decently sized. 4.95 for a single scoop and 5.95 for a double scoop. Definitely recommend coming here to satisfy your cravings.

What a fantastic place to get dessert! Lots of different choices; ice cream, frozen yogurt and sherbet available. Fancy chocolate dipped waffle cones and plain waffle cones are available. I tried the Blueberry ice cream and it was really good. Real wild blueberries and a very smooth ice cream. You don't need much, it is very rich. Located right in the main drag of Banff, parking is located In a lot behind the hotel located next door.

Absolutely loved the PEI Blueberry and the Messie Bessie Flavours. I’d give them a 4.5 instead of 4 if Google reviews had the option to. Their waffle cones although made fresh in front of us were a bit too hard for my liking. I’d definitely visit again and try other flavours without the cone.

Cows has the best ice cream, so creamy and delicious. They are not the biggest scoops but definitely worth it, I recommend splurging for the waffle cone. They have nowhere to eat inside so be prepared to eat outside along Banff Ave. they also have super cute cow parody merchandise which is always a hit.

Long line up but moved fast. The ice cream is average I wouldn’t personally rave about it but other enjoy it! There are a lot of flavours but in real life the actual cone and ice cream is a lot smaller then the picture and don’t get fooled by the picture with this fancy cone they charge you extra for it. Staff is super friendly and welcoming and hard working.

Tried the pei strawberry and wowie cowie flacours tonight. Creamy ice cream base that is not too sweet however the flavours with mix-ins make it indulgent and rich. The waffle cone was unique and a personal favourite being double layered with a faint fennel seed flavour - amazing!

Staff was friendly, icecream was good, and the flavors were original, however the waffle cones weren't great (the "cone to icecream ratio" was off, even for the double scoop due to it not being packed into the cone itself, making the end of the experience dry towards the end), the line was pretty slow moving, and it was pretty costly for what you actually get (Like everything you buy in banff, to be fair). Regardless of all of this I would consider coming back, but wouldn't be devastated if for some reason I couldn't, only for the reason that I would much rather be doing outdoor activities, rather than shopping.

Ice cream is decent, line was extremely long took us 45 minutes, the manager was extremely rude to customers and staff. When we first got in the door she was yelling at an employee in what looked like the dish washing area (I couldn’t hear exactly what was going on,) when we went to order I asked for a tester of ice cream the staff member told me they don’t give testers so I dropped it (despite the garbage full of test spoons, test spoons on the counter, and the person in front of me testing ice cream.) I ordered a single scoop in a waffle cone and the ice cream didn’t even go above the cone so I asked the employee serving us if it was normal and she ignored me so I flagged down the manager because she looked the least busy out of everyone not to complain or anything just to see if the amount I got was normal or if I was shorted by accident, she comes over to me and she looks very flustered so I very politely ask if it’s the normal amount and explain I’m not complaining just wondering, she continued to say “yes” in a very angry and b****y tone and turned her back to me with no further words. I found that quite rude and don’t get me wrong I understand being busy and angry I work in the service industry but no matter how busy I politely help customers the best I can and would never ever speak to someone in that tone let alone at my job. Very unprofessional.

Ice cream itself, pretty good. Comparable to a higher end mcdonalds or dairy queen but with more flavour. Waffle cones are good too. Scoops are small, like barely over the top of the cone but I guess your mileage may vary. Service itself - terrible. Staff, somewhat friendly - like what you get from people who don't care about their job but put on a fake face. Service itself is extremely inefficient. Literally sat waiting for like for 10-15 minutes being next in line while the line behind me grew and grew while 2 people behind the counter could serve one guy who ordered 2 doubles cones. I think Cow's would really benefit from some just in time (JIT) framework to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs. Their supply chain management is terrible.

Ice cream is delicious and they have a really good, unique selection. The gift shop is awesome & reasonably priced as well. But they don't let you eat ice cream in the gift shop which is kind of confusing so make sure you look in there first.

Portion sizes appear to have shrunk since pre-covid. On Canada Day, the majority of customers were wearing face masks, whereas the inverse was true of the Cows staff :( A few doors down the road at Beaver Tails, staff were serving ice cream wearing face masks. Banff seems rather confused just now; courtesy of our "beloved" UCP Premier?

Very good ice cream. Worth the wait if there is a line. As for price... I've had Cows ice cream in Nova Scotia & PEI ... I don't remember the price being $5 for one scoop.. I could be wrong since it's been a bit but it seemed pretty steep. But again your in Banff so some things are a little bit more. I would definitely recommend Cows Ice Cream to everyone. It's definitely a favourite of mine! :)

Decent ice cream at the best. One of the smallest scoops I've seen. Purchased the double scoop and the photos speak for themselves. Why have such a big cup when you can't even fill the cup half up.... The flavor selection was good however for the price and the size of scoops you get I will not be returning.

A great place for ice-creams at Banff. The prices are very reasonable for a tourist spot like Banff. Keep up with your prices. Apart from the price they have quite a variety of selection. I tried some of their flavours which includes strawberry, Oreo, wowie cowie, and brownie explosion. Everything was good and the staff were friendly. The place was clean as well following all the COVID protocols.

Good ice cream and a super long line. Like several other reviewers have said, the ice cream is good but certainly not life changing. When we got there midday on a Friday, the line was just about out the door. It moved at a decent clip and we were in and out in around 20 minutes. I (think I) got the peanut butter ice cream; it was good and creamy, but nothing particularly special or exciting. Employees were pleasant and the price was about what you'd expect for ice cream. Worth a trip on a hot summer day, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get Cows over another ice cream store.

Visiting Banff and to our surprise they had a Cows ice cream store! While on the east coast a couple of years ago the family got hooked on the ice cream. Hands down they have the best ice cream. The waffle cones are made as you wait and ice cream is Canadian sourced (PEI). They also have their normal merchandise as well with the parody shirts on the latest pop culture. If you are here, this is a must have and worth the wait.

Small ice cream for the price, but quality flavor and the cone is just so delicious. Easily the tastiest waffle cone I’ve ever had. The aroma on the street will guide you in. Be patient, as others mentioned there’s quite a line especially on hot days.

My favourite cake is Black Forest and I couldn’t resist when I got it as an ice-cream flavour. It was so good. I didn’t like the flavours ( messy bessy and vanilla) that my friends picked but they seemed to enjoy it. Scoops could be bigger. $12 for three scoops. They have related merchandise.

I loved this amazing Ice cream place and all of it’s quirky flavors. The Wowwie Cowwie (or something like that) was really awesome. The location is also pretty good, in the diverse town of Banff. If I ever do return, I will make sure to come back here. It is also an good stop after some biking to the nearby Vermilion Lakes. The only semi-bad thing is the very long line, however the service was good so you didn’t have to end up waiting too long. All in all, great experience.

OH MY LORD BEST ICE CREAM WE'VE EVER HAD. My girlfriend and I just had to try this ice cream after seeing the long line-up outside and reading the amazing reviews online, boy we weren't disappointed. We came back every day that we were in Banff, there's just so many flavours and every single one of them we tried was delicious. The waffle cone is also something else, it's made on site and the perfect amount of sweet while being thicker and crunchier than other waffle cones we've had at other stores. Our favourite flavours were the Chip Chip Hooray and the Moo York Cheesecake. Cownadian Maple and Nanaimoo Bar were also good, although we were disappointed we didn't get to try the Oreo Cookie; didn't have it on for any of the days we were there :( Definitely a must try on a hot summer day in Banff, or whenever you want ice cream!

This place is such a gem! Freshly made waffle cones hits your nose first thing you go in. They seriously serve one of the best ice creams in Canada! Oh so creamy smooth and filled with tons of fillings! We tried the PEI Apple Crisp and Maple on a waffle cone. Wish we can go back for more! They also sell a huge variety of super cute and witty souvenirs. We couldn’t help but bought like 10 tshirts.

Pathetic, sad, tiny, lonely-looking scoop of ice cream in a cup. We've been coming to Cows for years...not because it's the best...but because in Banff there aren't a lot of choices. The ice-cream has been good but not good enough to review or rave about. But a trip this week had me grumpy about their serving size ... and I'm never grumpy eating ice-cream lol. I gently mentioned it to the cashier - who rolled her eyes in agreement. Beavertails has ice-cream too and that is where we will go from now on.

I was expecting a lot more ! Based on the lines and the hype, I thought I was in for something really special. It was only good . I have had a lot better many times before . It was a hot day so perhaps something was a bit off with the freezers as there was certainly ice in the ice cream which affected the smoothness and taste. Banff needs some real competition to keep things honest

A big lineup but it’s for good reason! The team is obviously used to this pace as they work through the line with haste without compromising service. Who doesn’t love fresh waffle cones made in house?! I recommend taking a chance on a flavour you’ve never tried before (it won’t be hard their selection is very unique) - you won’t be disappointed!

I ate their ice cream for the first time. I always love ice cream though ..they also have some souvenirs for the tourist. We bought some stuff cow toys aside from their delicious ice big cream . It so thick and creamy at the same time. Hope I can visit cows again, it's really good foe the kids to enjoy

Popular ice cream parlor, interesting flavors. They make their waffle cones fresh, which was a special treat. The Royal Canadian Mint was so good that I went back to stand in line to order a 2nd. But Coffee needed.... well, more coffee? Overall ice cream quality wasn't "premium" but for a vacation spot ice cream parlor it sufficed.

Not bad. The waffle cone had a hint of black-cherry which was a nice touch. It smelted buttery and the scent can be noticed as you're walking down the street. The ice cream was creamy, but wasn't mindblowing. The flavors didnt exactly taste like what its supposed to. For exanple, I got Mooey Gooey which had little peanut butter cups in it. To be honest, it didn't taste like it. Just tasted like chocolate but more of a frozen, plastic-y texture rather than a soft melt in your mouth. The caramel was super sweet and didn't taste like true caramel either. I also had a scoop of the New York Cheesecake and it didn't taste like cheesecake at all. Overall, not bad but for what it is , I don't think its worth $5+.

We were staying in Canmore but drove to Banff just to go to COWS for ice cream. I was there on a weekday so the line wasn't bad, physical distancing measures were in place and the wait wasn't long. My son loves the bubblegum ice cream and I was happy to see they had 2 dairy-free / vegan sorbets. I had a scoop of both the mango and strawberry and would get them both again for sure. The hot chocolate powder from there is also a hit in our house! If you're an ice-cream lover, you'll love COWS Banff.

The long line suggested there was something good in this shop on the main drag. We waited in line, in the shade and it moved quickly. The benches and rocks outside the shop are lined with people enjoying ice cream. While you wait in line you can guess which one of the many flavours they are enjoying. Outside and inside there are stickers on the floor to indicate spacing from other customers. I enjoyed a single scoop of peanut butter cup in a waffle cone. It was delicious. Long list of flavours.

Excellent ice cream, with homemade waffle cones made in front of you as you stand in line. They have a a lot of flavors - about 24 - many of which were really unique. All of the flavors we had were unique - like peanut butter and coconut ice cream. It was really busy when we went - the line was well out the door. But worth the wait!
