Our number 1 trail spot.

Debbora Notforyoutohave

2.1 km with our dogs took 26 minutes walking rather slow lots to smell. Trail was clean and path was reasonably clear of fallen branches. The boardwalks were in good shape minus a few boards. The mosquitos were bad with the still water.

Nice easy walking trail with more rugged side trails. Parking is very limited.

Jody Rice

A nice walk through the forest on a calm winter day.

Crystal Richer

Don't go in the winter because it's extremely icy.

Perfect distance for a nice walk. 30 minutes for the big loop. Variety of things to look at, birds, flowers, frogs... I go here with my dog and she loves it. It's especially nice when all the trilliums are out, at one point on the trail, you can see them far out into the forest

Beautiful trail lots of benches to sit on and great for bird watching

Katrina Vincent

Nice spot to take your dog for a walk. Paths are well groomed and easy to follow routes with signs/arrows directing you. 1 down side & only down side is its Not taken care of in the winter which there's a sign to warn you to enter at your own risk at the entrance. even with some snow it was a beautiful walk. Lots of sitting areas that are covered to rest as you go through it with a map & information to learn about the trail. I was very happy taking the short drive to it. I highly recommend this trail to every1!

Lawson Nature preserve one of the most delightful winter hikes ever. Well maintained trails in the cozy forest setting with significant efforts to feed and house our feathered friends. To add to this there are numerous little benches to rest and pick up your feet and a few of the best pavilions for a picnic I’ve ever seen. We did a 5 km hike here slowly strolling around and taking in as much as we could. I have arthritis but I can stroll for a long time as long as we walk slowly and enjoy our time. Since I’ve hiked the Grand Canyon in wet winter conditions the mud and snow didn’t present to much problem and we carefully navigated the steeper trail so as not to slip or fall. The board walks are presently removed to the side and volunteers I suspect will repair them for future use in the wetlands. In the summer and spring it is wise to wear some rubber boots so as not to be bothered. I have some wonderful water proof Timerlake’s size 8 1/2 wide with a good orthopaedic sole which allow me to hike and walk with ease. I suggest this footwear for any older hikers with similar conditions it is worth the investment just make sure you use a nice wool sock. Pack your hot chocolate and snacks, dress warm and get ready for a breathtaking walk full of surprise because Lawson Preserve will leave you wanting more ! We are definitely adding this to our favourites.

A beautiful woodsy trail for peaceful hiking.

Great short hiking spot where you will see many trilliums, and trees in various stages of life. There are 3 trails of various sizes. Normally there is a wooden walking path currently under renovation.

Incredible nature reserve! Well maintained yet natural trails. There are boardwalks in some places and lots of side trails to explore. Diverse wetlands and forest. We had no idea it was even here...

The trail is now reopen after covid19. The whole trail is about 1.5 kms so it takes about half an hour to finish. It’s shaddy and have picnic spots, so its a great place to wander in the summer. However, some parts of the trail have unpleasant smell, not sure if it’s from the washroom near the entrance or from the swamp.

I'm giving it only four star would be a five-star but it seems some of the boardwalks out but in winter it doesn't seem to be a problem.

A hidden gem! Love the trails, just in my backyard!

Nice little loop 2.5 km or so... no hills. The boardwalks were out of commission when there November 2020

Aaron V

Great place for a walk with the family! Even took a stroller through, although there were some rough spots with tree roots and sticky mud. Definitely will be returning!

Alex Johannsen

Beautiful trail!

John and Lucy Jorna

Great trails, range of difficulty making it suitable for all.

Brenda Richardson

The Lawson Trail is a very clean peaceful trail. We are so fortunate to have this trail.

Kimberly Yull

This is such a beautiful place to walk. It has been left "rough" and that just makes it all the more beautiful.

Jay Thornton

Great little trail with fun terrain and nice sights! It's not a super long trail, probably around 3 km total but the rocks, roots, trees, small hills and wetlands make it pretty fun! Definitely worth checking out if you enjoy nature. It also has a lot of benches and picnic tables every so often to take breaks or even sit and grab a bite. Although I would assume in the summer the bugs would be insane! Try the fall season or winter for this trail for sure!

Kim Yull

What a great walk. Beautiful spot. A bit short but beauty surroundings. Quite a bit of damage due to storms over the last year but that kind of adds to the natural-ness of this spot.

Paul Yungblut

Wonderful. Love dogs... but really wish people would keep them on a leash out of respect for others and the wildlife!!!

Don't forget your bug spray, trails are not well maintained. The wet land trail seemed to end abruptly. The board walk planks are broken in some spots.

Evelyn Pfeifer

Leanne Howlett

Love taking the dogs for a walk here. Trails are well maintained.

John Wellhauser

Visited yesterday in the rain. By far the cleanest trail anywhere in the area. Picked up a couple of snack wrappers and didn't see any other junk. Nice to have a clean outhouse available. Not a whole lot of Carolinian species but has a few rarer oaks and buckeye which are nice to see. Well maintained trails - nice for family walks.

Lots of mushrooms, some are the extremly lethal destroying angle mushrooms. Very buggy mid summer. Bring spray

Darryl Haycock

One of the best trails around. Great memories going to the field science center as a student.

Bez Peters

Beautiful paths, so many different ecosystems - one area is mostly evergreen trees, another area is more of a marsh, the next area is tall tree with no lower branches. It’s just constantly changing. Well-maintained, outhouses, pavilion, picnic tables (all near the entrance. The rest of the reserve is just nature).

Nice walk in the woods. Lots of benches and picnic tables along pathways. Outhouse and covered area also.
